We're back and starting off season two with a literal bang. Nick and Nina discuss the growing network of alliances on both sides of the Libyan Civil War, as well as the rapidly escalating unrest in Belarus. By examining whether the US is still capable of the UN's goal of "collective security," we question whether these conflicts might ignite the next "Big One" between great powers across the globe. Nina Illingworth is an independent analyst who writes about media, propaganda, politics and class warfare online at ninaillingworth.com and on social media. Nick Galea is a criminal defense attorney who likes to yell into a mic once in a while. Our last episode of Season One takes a look at the use of entertainment media to drum up support for the US armed forces, both through the more passive example of military cheerleading in Marvel movies, and the absolutely insane marriage of W's war in Iraq and the TV show 24. We'll be back soon to tackle current events in Season Two. To our listeners of the No Fugazi Podcast, Hey gang, it’s Nina here. This tenth episode of the No Fugazi Podcast was originally recorded in late April at a time when it was largely unclear how the ongoing pandemic/plague-watch was going to affect our lives long term. Unfortunately, almost immediately after we recorded the source material, my life imploded into a series of cascading problems, all complicated by COVID, that eventually touched on my extended family, my pets, my ongoing battle with depression and even my access to the software necessary to edit these episodes. It’s a very long story that I’m hoping to share in more detail with you on an upcoming episode of Nina Bloc, but in light of the fact that this delay between episodes nine and ten is in absolutely no way my co-host Nick Galea’s fault, it didn’t make much sense to include all that personal information in an episode of No Fugazi. Please forgive me for this wholly unreasonable delay and with any luck, both Nick and I will be back with a new season of No Fugazi in the next week or two. - Nina Illingworth
Nina and Nick discuss the successes and failures of the Bernie Sanders campaign, and where the Left needs to go to carry on his legacy. Nina Illingworth is an independent analyst who writes about media, propaganda, politics and class warfare online at ninaillingworth.com and on social media. Nick Galea (@bigtimenotaryg1)is a criminal defense attorney who likes to yell into a mic once in a while.
We're back this week with a full episode covering the way the COVID-19 crisis' domination of media has obscured two huge stories of alleged political misconduct: the allegations against Joe Biden by Alexandra Tara Reade, and the suspected insider trading conducted by Senators Richard Burr and Kelly Loeffler. CW: sexual violence against women. Nina Illingworth is an independent analyst who writes about media, propaganda, politics and class warfare online at ninaillingworth.com and on social media. Unfortunately due to coronavirus chaos, our hosts weren't able to get together and record an episode of No Fugazi this week. Thankfully Nina has no life, so she was able to step in and provide us with this short update on how the coronavirus relief fight is going - no spoilers but Trump is no populist and we're probably all going to die. Nick Galea (@bigtimenotaryg1)is a criminal defense attorney who likes to yell into a mic once in a while.
This is a long episode where Nina and Nick catch up on the Bolivia Coup, Iowa, long voting lines, and the seismic shift in the race on Super Tuesday. Plus as a bonus, the hosts argue about whether Joe Biden can beat Trump. Nina Illingworth is an independent analyst who writes about media, propaganda, politics and class warfare online at ninaillingworth.com and on social media. This podcast has had a lot of talk about "Culture Wars," but, what are Culture Wars? How did they start? Who fights them? Are they Fugazi? So for this special, extended episode, Nina and Nick give you the history of American political parties pushing so-called "wedge issues" to contest elections without challenging the prevailing orthodoxies in economics and foreign policy. Nina Illingworth (@NatSecReporter) is an independent analyst who writes about media, propaganda, politics and class warfare online at ninaillingworth.com and on social media. Nick Galea (@bigtimenotaryg1)is a criminal defense attorney who likes to yell into a mic once in a while.
On today's episode, Nick goes all the way in on a bizarre Super Bowl pre-game vignette featuring Martha Ford reading the Declaration of Independence. We are not making that up. Listen and learn why the NFL plays their championship game through the lens of a Paul Verhoeven dytopian Fascist vision. And bonus content where Nina asks, if the US were in the Middle East, would the US describe it as a failed state? Nina Illingworth (@NatSecReporter) is an independent analyst who writes about media, propaganda, politics and class warfare online at ninaillingworth.com and on social media. Today we deconstruct the fact-checking industry and its progression from double-checking Bush flunkies to its current role, picking arguments with leftists on behalf of right-wing think tanks. And then, special bonus topic: going apeshit about Iowa.
