When a routine patrol suddenly becomes a life-or-death situation, what really goes through an officer's mind? In this riveting episode, former officers Erik and Banning deliver raw, unfiltered analysis of real police encounters caught on bodycam. The heart-stopping footage begins with an Indiana officer engaging a suspect who had shot his wife before fleeing with their baby. As bullets fly across a snowy bridge, the hosts break down the officer's remarkable tactical decisions that saved both his own life and the child's. Their expert commentary reveals the complex calculus of confronting armed suspects while accounting for innocent bystanders—a masterclass in crisis response under extreme pressure. The conversation takes a surprising turn with the infamous "rat dog incident," where a trespassing stop escalates dramatically after a suspect throws a small dog at an officer before fleeing. This bizarre encounter sparks a thoughtful discussion on identification requirements, consensual police contacts, and the legal boundaries of detention. Viewers gain rare insight into how officers distinguish between merely suspicious behavior and actual criminal activity.Perhaps most illuminating is the hosts' candid assessment of controversial incidents, including a deputy who pulled over a state trooper traveling at 105mph without emergency equipment. Their nuanced take on "policing other police" and pursuit policies demonstrates the ethical complexities within law enforcement that rarely make headlines.Throughout the episode, Erik and Banning's chemistry shines as they weave professional expertise with humor, creating an educational experience that appeals to both police supporters and those skeptical of law enforcement tactics. Their transparent approach—acknowledging both exemplary police work and moments where different strategies might have yielded better outcomes—offers a refreshingly balanced perspective on modern policing challenges.Ready to see police work through the eyes of those who've worn the badge? Mosman Oil and Gas Ltd (AIM:MSMN) CEO Andy Carroll talked with Proactive about the company's progress at the Billy Goat project in southeast Colorado, where it has spudded the first well in a five-well helium exploration programme in partnership with Vecta Oil & Gas. This comes after Mosman increased its interest in the Billy Goat lease area from 20% to 90%. Carroll explained that helium prices have surged—now approximately 100 times the price of natural gas—creating a strong incentive for exploration and production. He noted that the Victor site benefits from shallow target depths and nearby infrastructure, making it a cost-effective project. “We're very pleased to have increased percentage on the first well,” Carroll said, referring to the company's growing footprint in the area. He highlighted that Mosman's broader helium portfolio also includes the Sagebrush and Coyote Wash projects, where it holds significant interests of 82.5% and 100%, respectively. Carroll confirmed that helium has already been identified at Sagebrush and that re-completion and testing are planned. With existing infrastructure located nearby, the company expects that success at Vecta could quickly translate into revenue. For more videos, visit Proactive's YouTube channel. In this episode of Passing Judgment, host Jessica Levinson speaks with NPR's Elissa Nadworny to unpack the Trump administration's efforts to withhold federal funding from colleges and universities over issues like antisemitism and DEI practices. They discuss how these unprecedented moves are impacting not campus life, but vital medical and scientific research nationwide. Elissa explains the legal challenges schools like Harvard are mounting in response, the stakes involved for the entire higher education sector, and the broader implications for public policy. Here are three key takeaways you don't want to miss:Federal Funding as a Lever in Higher Education Policy: The episode opens by surveying recent actions from the Trump administration regarding federal funding for colleges and universities. The administration is using financial levers—pausing, freezing, or cutting funds—to influence policies on campus, particularly tied to issues like DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion) and antisemitism. Mechanisms and Legality of Federal Control: The speakers discuss how and why the administration has the power to control this funding. The complexities of federal funding—who controls the purse strings, when Congress vs. the executive branch has authority, and what legal mechanisms are at play—come up. The episode highlights that while presidents can make funding conditional, the legality often hinges on whether proper procedures are followed (Administrative Procedures Act), not just on broad authority.Who Really Loses When Funds Are Cut: The speakers emphasize that federal research dollars are not just about student amenities—they fund major scientific, medical, and technological research. The implications of large-scale cuts ripple well beyond campuses, potentially hurting national health, technological innovation, and local economies (since universities are major employers and research hubs).Follow Our Host: @LevinsonJessica

With his new Robert Pattinson-starring Mickey 17, Korean director Bong Joon Ho displays his knack for blending genres and entertainingly covering sociopolitical and interpersonal themes. Mucci thinks he hasn't done that better than Okja, an adventure-thriller-heist-comedy with strong animal welfare themes. Lando, on the other hand, advocates for the dark and dreary serial killer mystery that is Memories of Murder, with strong characterizations and inspiration from real-life horrors. And when we take a Recess, Judge Huy says No Caps in Court as he quizzes Lando and Mucci with true/false questions about their respective films. OTR Theme by Lando and Mucci.
