The financial system we rely on today isn't what it used to be. From the Fed's creation of "reserves" instead of real money to the collateral-driven markets that emerged after 2008, Lance Roberts & Garrett Baldwin break down how the game has changed—and what it means for your wealth. We cover everything from repo markets, ETFs, and the Buffett Indicator to the rise of passive investing and why sovereign nations are quietly buying gold. Plus, we explore how debasement works in real terms—through asset prices, housing costs, and purchasing power—and why education about money is more important than ever for the next generation. If you've ever wondered how the system really works, or what comes next when "no one wants to buy the debt," this is your deep dive into the new era of money, markets, and wealth. 0:00 - INTRO 0:18 - The Substack Battle 3:15 - We are not printing money - the Fed's ability to create unlimited reserves; the multiplication of purchasing power has brought us to where we are today. 5:16 - How money is created (chart) 8:15 - Without REPO, Wall Street does not open How the system shifted after 2008 - more collateral-driven 11:47 - What Alan Greenspan did in 1999 - Slowing the Velocity of Money 14:45 - The System is broken - why we have to check in with Brussels, Frankfort, Japan before executing monetary policy Impact of passive investing 19:54 - Real Household Equity Ownership (chart) - inequity of wealth 21:08 - The folly of a 50-year mortgage How to really make housing more affordable CATH EFT 26:05 - How we got ETF's 28:35 - What happens when no one buys debt anymore? 31:02 - The Buffett Indicator - Valuations & Market trends 32:44 - The Construct of Debasement in asset prices, land, and output - what it really is 34:58 - Purchasing power of a dollar (Chart) 38:17 - The Damage Done by Stimmie checks 39:20 - The Hedge of Tomorrow (2024) What did the wealthy buy? 41:46 - Why Sovereigns Buy Gold 42:41 - Adapting as the Rules are Broken - The Nvidia Story 44:07 - Teaching Kids About Finance & Investing, Budgeting & Life Focus on Education with an eye to future earnings 49:45 - Stocks for Christmas STU 52:24 - Being the Author of your own Life #FinancialSystem #FederalReserve #MarketCycle #WealthInequality #GoldAndDebt

Hello good people and welcome back to another week's episode of Trudge Report. At the top of the show we discuss everything from snow in the midwest, fantasy football heartbreak, weird allergies, and viral plane crashes. We then dive into the recovery topic, surrounding complete powerlessness over our addictions, and how none of us could stop on our own power or by the numerous methods we have employed. We discuss barriers to recovery that each of us faced, mostly those within ourselves. We talk about preconceived notions, both positive and negative, that we all had about getting sober. We mix in a few entertaining stories and then end with what kept each of us in Florida to get and stay sober. Big shout out to all of the men and women that have served in our armed forces in honor of Veterans Day on November 11th. We thank each of you for your service and sacrifice. If you are patient in one moment of anger, you will escape 100 days of sorrow.”                -Chinese ProverbDon't forget to like, share, rate, and download the podcast on all of your listening platforms. Much of the government shutdown is due to the failures of Obamacare (The Affordable Care Act), which was supposed to lower the cost of healthcare. Instead, such costs are skyrocketing. You may remember the numerous promises made when Obamacare was being touted such as: You can keep your plan. Unfortunately, many people lost theirs. We were also told we could keep our doctor, yet over 200,000 doctors opted out of the Obamacare exchange plans. Then there was the promise that your premiums would go down by $2,500 dollars, yet it's being reported that premiums went up by about 60% in the first four years and they continue to go up. On Thursday, November 6th, Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson, Chairman of the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, held a hearing titled: Assessing the Damage Done by Obamacare. This broadcast featured comments from both sides of the debate which included four witnesses. Senator Johnson led off the debate with opening remarks. Citing a number of comparative statistics, he noted that there's no reason why healthcare costs should be running so much higher than the rate of inflation. Next to speak was Connecticut Senator Richard Blumenthal who, in opposition to the comments from Senator Johnson, said: "Let's be very clear why we're here. It is a Republican effort to destroy the Affordable Care Act. We're seeking to extend the healthcare tax credits past the end of the year. They make healthcare insurance affordable for millions of Americans who are right now going through the exchanges and trying to determine whether they can afford insurance."

Welcome back to All One Song, A Neil Young Podcast presented by Aquarium Drunkard Transmissions. We're spending the summer talking to a few of our favorite artists and writers about their favorite Neil Young song.  Our guest this week is Jeff Parker, best known as the guitarist for the long-running Chicago post-rock group Tortoise. Jeff  has been on a serious hot streak of late. He's released awesome, entirely solo records like Slight Freedom and Forfolks, along with great albums with the New Breed. He's collabed with heavy hitters like Daniel Villareal and Makaya McKraven. He's been an invaluable part of the Big Ego label's session player roster, contributing to great records by Psychic Temple, Dave Easley and Maria Elena Silva. And Jeff is the leader of one of the most exciting improv groups working today — the ETA quartet, featuring Parker, drummer Jay Bellerose, bassist Anna Butterss and saxophonist Josh Johnson. Their second LP, The Way Out of Easy, was one of the very best records of 2024. Oh and did we mention that there's a brand new Tortoise album on the way later this year? Jeff is a busy dude, to say the least. Now Jeff might not seem like the most obvious All One Song guest — his and Neil's styles feel miles apart. At least at first! But as we get into in our conversation, Jeff has found some serious inspiration in Young's unique approach to the acoustic guitar. And the acoustic guitar is central to the song he selected to talk about: “The Needle and the Damage Done.” This haunting solo number from 1972's Harvest remains one of Neil's signature tunes. It's a song that even the most casual of fans knows by heart. But Jeff's perspective on this warhorse opened it back up — and hopefully it'll do the same for you.  Looking for a digital music platform that feels more like a record shop? Qobuz is the high quality music streaming & download platform for music enthusiasts and audiophiles, offering unique editorial, exclusive artist interviews, expertly curated playlists, liner notes, and more. Clare's Sinn Féin TD claims damage has been done to the reputation of the Ceann Comhairle's Office after the Government rammed through a vote on Dáil speaking rights. Opposition leaders are questioning the legitimacy of the vote and will today tell Deputy Verona Murphy they have no confidence in her after the Wexford TD used her powers to skip over the business of the day. The proposal means regional independents would be considered as "others" and they along with over 50 backbench TDs would get additional speaking slots, however the weekly time for Taoiseach's questions would be halved. Shannon Sinn Féin Deputy Donna McGettigan says it flies in the face of democracy.

John is the author of Drugs as Weapons Against Us & The FBI War on Tupac Shakur. He's also the producer / director of documentaries of the same name, as well as his most recent release Shots: Eugenics to Pandemics—his filmography will be bolstered in short order by the forthcoming C I A Drugs R Us! A Drugs as Weapons... Sequel. A journalist & investigative researcher w/ a meritorious career stretching 3 decades, John's expertise has been called upon in documentaries broadcast on C-SPAN, A&E, Reelz, & RT among others—he's also a veteran of noided radio royalty Coast to Coast AM & myriad other shows on the late night airwaves. He's published his writings in Z, Covert Action Quarterly, The Baltimore Chronicle, & The Free Press. Along the way, John's completed graduate studies at Columbia University and has worked as a mental health & addictions counselor for more than 25 years, giving him a firsthand view of the neurotoxic impacts of many recreational substances on the mind & their weaponization against political dissidents by American intelligence, further underlining his qualifications as one of the preeminent scholars of the way in which the imperial hegemon wields psychoactive substances for mass mind & social control & counterinsurgent purposes at home and abroad... In my humble estimation, he is one of the foremost historians of MKULTRA, COINTELPRO, & intel-run culture engineering operations—he's also one of my personal favorite independent researchers, to boot. It was a true privilege to pick his mind. **** A solo ep accompanying this interview, including readings of excerpts from Drugs as Weapons, to follow imminently... Exploring the 1968 anti-war & Gym Crow student uprisings at Columbia, various members of that NYC activist milieu's targeting w/ acid & infiltration by the feds, & a Drugs as Weapons-esque case study concerning a Columbia dropout who was busted running a sophisticated, 40 person strong opioid manufacturing & trafficking ring in Omaha in 2017. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's non-profit organization, Archewell, is back in good standing after a brief period of being declared "delinquent" in the US. The charity had to halt all fundraising and spending due to this designation, which was a result of failing to submit its annual report and registration fees on time. However, sources close to the couple insist that all necessary filings were submitted punctually. The Department of Justice's website now lists the charity's status as "current," indicating that the issues have been resolved. In a statement to The LA Times, the California attorney general's press office confirmed: "After being in touch with our Registry of Charities and Fundraisers, the organization is current and in good standing."Earlier, a letter from California's Attorney General Rob Bonta noted that Archewell had let its registration fees lapse since the beginning of May, rendering the charity "not in good standing" and prohibiting it from soliciting or distributing charitable funds. The letter warned of possible penalties and the suspension or revocation of the charity's registration.Despite this, a source told the Mirror that the fees were not actually late, claiming: "For whatever reason, it has not been cashed. As soon as the foundation learnt of the problem, they immediately issued another cheque. Harry and Meghan's team hope this will quickly resolve the issue within the next week."A representative for Archewell later assured The Mirror: "We have diligently investigated the situation and can confirm that The Archewell Foundation remains fully compliant and in good standing. Due payments were made promptly and in accordance with the IRS's processes and procedures. Furthermore, all necessary paperwork had been filed by the Foundation without error or wrongdoing."PR Expert Ryan McCormick suggested to the Mirror that the damage is already done.

Education, employment, and family formation are “the building blocks for a flourishing life,” says the leader of the Georgia Center for Opportunity. But, unfortunately, America's welfare system includes penalties for both work and family formation, Randy Hicks says. Although the safety net may not intend to punish work or the family, Hicks says, it does that through policies that reward Americans with financial benefits for earning less or remaining single. Among all the states, Utah has created a model for a strong welfare system, he says. Utah integrated its workforce services with welfare services in the 1990s, so when an individual seeks government assistance, the first step is to help him re-enter the workforce, if he is able, before providing monetary benefits. But around the year 2000, the federal government passed a law that made it almost impossible for states to integrate workforce and welfare services as Utah did. To change this situation, Hicks says, the Georgia Center for Opportunity and the Alliance for Opportunity advocate congressional legislation to "give states the flexibility to do what Utah did: integrate workforce and welfare so that we're not compartmentalizing someone's life but viewing it holistically and viewing it all as simply a means to a flourishing life that includes work.”Hicks joins this episode of “The Daily Signal Podcast” to discuss the path to restoring the value of education, work, and family in America.Enjoy the show! Dr. Michelle Cretella, a respected pediatrician and researcher, delves into the rarely discussed, irreversible harms associated with puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and gender transition surgeries. Her insights shed light on a controversial topic, offering a much-needed medical perspective on treatments increasingly offered to young individuals struggling with their gender identity. Puberty: A Vital Developmental Stage, Not a Disease Dr. Cretella emphasizes the natural importance of puberty, a critical period for physical, psychological, and emotional development. She warns against the premature halt of this process through puberty blockers, highlighting the deprivation of normal growth experiences and the irreversible damage done to children's bodies and minds. It's a stark reminder from her: puberty is "not a disease" to be cured but a natural stage of human development. The Unspoken Consequences: Bone Health, Brain Development, and Fertility The conversation unveils concerning evidence on the long-term effects of puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones, including severe bone density loss leading to osteoporosis and increased fracture risks in adulthood. Furthermore, Dr. Cretella raises alarms about potential cognitive impairments and the disturbing reality of induced infertility in young patients. These interventions, she argues, not only disrupt natural bodily functions but may also sterilize children—a grave concern echoing themes of eugenics and population control under the guise of therapeutic intervention. A Call to Compassion and Ethical Responsibility Dr. Cretella's message is clear and urgent: the medical community and society at large must reconsider the approach to treating gender dysphoria, especially in children and adolescents. The push towards irreversible treatments without fully understanding the long-term consequences is, in her words, "evil." This poignant discussion calls for deeper compassion, ethical responsibility, and a commitment to truly helping individuals struggling with their identity without resorting to potentially harmful and life-altering procedures.

Public schools are in the throes of multiple slow-moving crises: a teacher exodus, spiking student absenteeism and plunging literacy rates. Yet education reforms implemented as part of the Obama-era ‘theory of change' have received little blame. Special guest Nora De La Cour, a former teacher who writes about education for Jacobin and other publications, says it's long past time for an acknowledgment that test-centric reforms have drained the life from public schools. Such reforms have demoralized teachers and left students feeling like school has no purpose, argues De La Cour, and made public education much harder to defend against the right-wing push for private school vouchers and classical education.
