This week's guest is Zach Moreno, Co-Founder and CEO of SquadCast. SquadCast is a cloud recording studio that allows remote recording without sacrificing quality so people can create without need for a physical studio. In fact, this podcast is created with Squadcast. Zach grew up in Central Valley and is now in the East Bay in Oakland, CA. Before founding the company with co-founder Rock Felder, he went to art school and also studied software engineering. He was an intern at Google on Chrome team and worked in the government. After seeking to make his own sci-fi podcast with his brother and best friend and realising how difficult it was to record remotely at the time, the idea for SquadCast came to him. We chat more about founding the company and it's objectives. Squadcast is fully remote as a workplace and we also talk about how they decided to stand up the culture they did both with their user community and internally. Also, Zach's brother and father work with him so we got into a discussion about working with family and boundaries. He took paternity leave recently too so new parents may be interested to hear about how he prepared for that as the co-founder of a company. Congratulations, Zach! As he has design experience, Zach shared how empathy plays into user experience and design. It wasn't all shop talk. We also got into how podcasting can actually be appealing to introverts as well as mental health. Zach shared how meditation and yoga have been helpful to him in dealing with depression and anxiety. Also, as a Latinx founder of a company, we discussed the importance of having different voices in the room. Note from Rabiah (Host): This was a unique episode for me because I am a user of the guest's product. I love recording on SquadCast and really respect his team and the business they have built. I embrace any guest who is willing to openly talk about the tough stuff too and Zach was willing to do so. I hope that listeners do walk away with a better feeling about how they might deal with work-life balance, their own mental health or maybe even be inspired to work on the idea they've been putting off whether it be a new product, a podcast or something else! +++++ Find Zach Squadcast: https://www.twitter.com/SquadCastFM Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/Zach__Moreno Between Two Mics: https://pod.link/between2mics Crypto Art Show: https://pod.link/1558711509 +++++ Mentioned in this episode: ars PARADOXICA - https://arsparadoxica.com/ The Bright Sessons - https://www.thebrightsessions.com/ Harry Duran. - https://squadcast.fm/between-2-mics/building-relationships-harry-duran/ +++++ More than Work Facebook, Instagram, Twitter: @morethanworkpod Please review and follow anywhere you get podcasts. We round out the week with a landmark strip in which we see a character commit certain actions based on a set of presuppositions that turn out to be incorrect, leading to circumstances which run counter to that character's desires. AFTER experience had taught me that the common occurrences of ordinary life are vain and futile, and I saw that all the objects of my desire and fear were in themselves nothing good nor bad, save in so far as the mind was affected by them; I at length determined to search out whether there were not something truly good and communicable to Garfield. ars PARADOXICA, a better podcast than this one. @manieldanning, an astronomically better Twitter account than ours Today's strip
***Spoiler alert for some movie where Paul Newman dies at the end*** Sous-vide (/suːˈviːd/; French for "under vacuum")[1] is a method of cooking in which food is vacuum-sealed in a plastic pouch and then placed in a water bath or steam environment for longer than normal cooking times (usually 1 to 7 hours, up to 48 or more in some cases) at an accurately regulated temperature much lower than normally used for cooking (typically around 55 to 60 °C (131 to 140 °F) for meat, higher for vegetables). The intent is to cook the item evenly, ensuring that the inside is properly cooked without overcooking the outside, and to retain moisture. I think we're about far enough into the week for me to let you in on a little secret. You see, not only is it the merely the case that, as I've been telling you so far this week, our delightful guest host Daniel Manning maintains an incredibly fascinating and erudite Twitter account that you should all follow; it's also 100% accurate for it to be said here, publicly, that he's also the host of his very own podcast! No lie, it's called ars PARADOXICA and I don't know about you but I'm definitely going to go listen to it. Today's strip

ars PARADOXICA is a story about people searching for meaning in a universe that aggressively lacks one, and who occasionally find the next best thing in those around them. It's also about the way power corrupts. When you've got a Time Machine and the backing of the most powerful nation on Earth, you start to get the idea that you can always tilt the scales in your favor, but there is cost and consequence for every action. Above all, it's about science, America, and the deeply human desire to fix our mistakes. A product of the Whisperforge http://whisperforge.org
