Show Notes – Episode 17  Are there times that you feel really stressed out? I bet you do, right?  We all do. Perhaps you are stressed because you walk into a home that has clutter and you would rather have a home that is organized? Or you could feel stressed because you can never find your items or are late for appointments. Or you are really busy and can’t keep up with demands that you are facing? You could be a busy professional and work is really demanding and/or a busy mom or dad that is spending a lot of time driving your kids to activities or appointments, or helping them with their homework. Or you could be a busy entrepreneur and believe me when I say, I know how stressful running a busy can be. So you are not alone.   So what do you do to help reduce your stress level?   One way of reducing stress is by meditating. I have to admit, I do not meditate and don’t know much about meditating, but wanted to learn more about it and that is why I invited meditation educator Jen Johannsen as a guest this week so we could discuss the benefits of meditating and the different types of mediation. I had no idea there were 8 types! We also discuss Colour Calm which is kind of cool!   Jen is super sweet and knows her stuff when it comes to meditation. She was first introduced to the benefits of meditation as a school psychologist. So let’s dive right in and get started.    About our Guest:  Jen Johannsen is a School Psychologist turned Meditation Educator! She used to think meditation was annoying and that sitting and doing “nothing” does not change anything. Not anymore. After 7 years of psychological education, 12 years as a school psychologist, hundreds of hours in certified meditation teacher training, and years of personal meditation trial and error, she has now developed Jen’s School of Calm Course that allows others to decrease their stress and increase their happy with simple, step-by-step non-weird meditation.  About Kathy McEwan  Kathy McEwan, BA. Do you wish you had more time in your day to do the things you love to do? Do you feel overwhelmed with all that needs to be done? Do you want to have more productive days? If so, this episode is for you. I will provide a 7 step process that if you use, you should find yourself feeling less overwhelmed and more productive.    I have to be honest and tell you that I catch myself being overworked and having too much to do, and feeling like I don’t have enough time in the day to do everything I need to do, and also have more me time or family time. So I totally get what it is like to be feeling overwhelmed with having too much to do.   My busy struggles are work related. I catch myself working long hours, and feeling overwhelmed with all that needs to be done. Right now, I am busy booking organizing sessions, scheduling staff, going to clients’ homes for consultations or organizing sessions, doing social media, doing admin work, answering the phone and emails, working on presentations (I have 4 coming up, 1. At a high school, and the Ontario Real Estate Board, and At the Home and Garden Show, plus one For retired school teachers) all in the next month or so) Plus I also have to get organized for trade shows which reminds me that I have the Ottawa Parenting Times Child Expo coming up, oh and I can’t forget t.v appearances, plus so much more that I need to be doing.    So what do I do when I feel overworked and overwhelmed? I sit down and make an action plan, and this plan can work for you as well. I call it the Productivity Action Plan. It is a 7 step process.   In the 7 Step process we talk about the importance of brain dumping and scheduling, what to do with a post it note, plus more.   In this episode I also provide you will ideas on what you can do if your days are booked solid, so you have more time to do what you love to do.   Plus there is a Productivity Action Plan document that you can print off and fill in, which will help you achieve your goals.   About Kathy McEwan  Kathy McEwan, BA. “NBCUniversal are a household name no one has ever heard of” this quote comes from Paul Rushforth their director of Advanced Technology - this week on the #ShinyNewObject podcast. Paul talks with passion about useless tech he can’t say ‘no’ to and how he’s happy to fail because it’s the best way to learn. His mission is to help people understand complex technology so that they can apply it in their roles and he’s got the scars to prove it. We take a stroll around a Voice Tech led utopia where talking fridges solve all first world problems. Paul is a gent and an entertaining one at that.   NBCUniversal / Paul Rushforth Director of Advanced Technology / Voice Tech
