Financial freedom doesn't start with more income—it starts with control. In this episode, Jim Oliver sits down with Teshra Robles to explore the missing skill most high earners overlook: a clear, consistent system for managing personal finances. Teshra shares how denial, disorganization, and emotional patterns keep people stuck—and how a simple, repeatable practice can completely transform your relationship with money. 3 Key Takeaways 1. Disorganization is a Hidden Wealth Leak Most people don't know where their money is going because they're emotionally avoiding the truth. 2. Off-the-Shelf Tools Don't Cut It Generic apps and spreadsheets won't get you there. You need a system designed for your life. 3. One Hour a Week Changes Everything A weekly review of your accounts brings clarity, control, and confidence to every financial decision. In a culture obsessed with income, this conversation brings you back to the foundation: Cash flow control is the bedrock of wealth. Welcome to Episode #171 of the Way of the Bible podcast. This is the third of eight episodes in our Twenty-Second mini-series entitled The Return of Jesus Christ. On today's episode, we're going to take a second high level flyover of the Bible to continue the case for why Jesus is coming back. What we'll discover today is that there is more to the story than we've been told. Once we see this, the question becomes, “Has the withholding of this information been intentional or a misalignment that over time, took us far away from the intended target?”When you're starting with infinity and forever, the hardest thing to do is to know with certainty where to start. Which reminds me, one of the reasons modern science knows that the cosmos is not eternal is based on what science shows. In the realm of science, there is a field called thermodynamics that concerns itself with the fluidity of relationships between heat, work, temperature, and energy. Certain maxims of thermodynamics are considered so undeniable, they are considered to be unchangeable laws found in nature. The second law of thermodynamics concerns a concept called entropy. Entropy in simplest form is work accomplished by ordered molecular motion. Think of the Budweiser Clydesdale horses hooked up to the beer wagon versus the same team of horses running loose in a ten-acre paddock. Which of the two teams of horses at the same moment in time just described (hooked to a wagon or running loose) is capable of performing more work than the other? We observe, the more organized the energy, the more work that can be done. The more organized, the more work, the Lower the entropy. Disorganization or randomness of the energy results in a higher entropy, meaning less work can be done. Once you get this, “knowing what entropy is,” everything you encounter in life will suddenly begin to make sense. The second law of thermodynamics assumes a closed system. We established this on our last episode that modern science considers the cosmos a closed system. According to modern science, our four-dimensional space-time is a sealed box. Nothing can either enter or exit the box. However, for about the past two decades science has been having a branding crisis as there is now evidence the box may be leaking. But the mainstream public will never hear about that if science can help it. In this closed system, the 2nd Law of thermodynamics states that entropy (a measure of disorder or randomness) will always tend to increase. Or put another way, no matter how many times you clean your house, it will always move toward a state of greater disorder and randomness. According to this Law, given enough time, all energy within the cosmos will reach equilibrium, bringing the temperature of the cosmos to a level where there is no gradient in temperature. In this environment where energy is equally distributed, no work can be done. But that's not what we are experiencing. The postulation goes that if the cosmos was eternal, it would already have had enough time to suffer this heat death and should not exist at all as we now experience it. Therefore, the cosmos by inference, must have had a beginning. It is not eternal.DrZ, that was a lot of I've never thought about and don't see the tie-in to the topic. Great observation and glad you think that, because that's just the crack in the floor that reveals a huge rabbit hole below. I urge you to let your head hurt a little as you consider what is really going on around you. All is not as it seems. We'll take a quick peek under the pavement and then dig into some healthy content.

Disorganization quietly drains a business, creating confusion, inefficiency, and missed opportunities. When teams aren't aligned, projects stall, resources go to waste, and frustration builds at every level. A company that runs smoothly isn't just more productive—it moves with purpose, where every effort contributes to a larger, clearly understood goal. The difference between chaos and cohesion isn't luck; it's having the right structure in place to keep everything working in sync. Brian Cain and Steve Gran, co-authors of Getting on the Same Page, are work strategists specializing in organizational alignment and performance. Their methodology helps businesses streamline operations, enhance communication, and set clear goals. Today, they share their work excellence method, emphasizing four key elements—direction, system, measurement, and improvement—to help organizations reduce waste, improve team dynamics, and achieve consistent results. Ted is joined this month by Lauren Aliza Green, author of the just-released novel The World After Alice, a “most anticipated” book by Vogue, Town & Country, and LitHub, among others. Her chapbook, A Great Dark House, won the Poetry Society of America's Chapbook Fellowship, and she was named to Forbes' 2024 30 Under 30 list. After a quick overview of The World After Alice—which Ann Napolitano called “A lovely debut novel that glimmers with fine writing and notes of human insight”—Lauren and Ted discuss the swirl of emotions surrounding publication day, something that's top of mind for both of them at the moment. They then move into a conversation about Lauren's second novel and work in progress, a modern-day interpretation of Shakespeare's King Lear. Set in New York City, it follows three grown siblings as their father announces he's leaving his multimillion-dollar art collection to his youngest child, cutting the older two out of the will. Lauren and Ted talk about how closely (or not) her book follows the valleys and peaks of King Lear, writing in first- versus close third-person, what she describes as her “complete disorganization of process” and its parallels to working a jigsaw puzzle, giving the muse ample chances to visit you, and the emotion of having to set aside a project you've devoted years to. Then, in honor of Ted's newly released romantic comedy, Date Week, they wrap up by trading thoughts on some of their own favorite rom-coms. Art and psychoanalysis have had a very long and intense relationship over the years, and it makes sense that these two fields would be drawn to one another. Critics have long looked at psychoanalysis as offering a sophisticated model of decoding images and fantasies. Artists have made productive use of ideas like the unconscious and the uncanny, and of course, are very concerned with the questions of self-expression and desire that are at the core of analysis. One figure who has gained quite a bit of attention in art lately for her ideas on all these things is Jamieson. Webster. Webster is an analyst and a teacher, and is among the founders of Pulsion, a new school for psychoanalysis here in New York City. She's also the author of essays for places including The New York Times and the New York Review of Books, as well as books of her own, including the Life and Death of Psychoanalysis from 2019 and Disorganization and Sex from 2022. Recently Webster spoke with art critic and podcast co-host Ben Davis about the fresh uptick of interest in psychoanalysis among artists now, the uses and abuses of therapy in art, and her new pamphlet titled The Psychoanalyst and the Artist, where she writes about what analysts can learn from two artists in particular, the sculptor Louise Bourgeois and the painter Carroll Dunham.

Candace graduated from the University of Utah in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, and in 2012 with a Masters of Social Work. She worked at University of Utah's Neuropsychiatric Institute as a member of their crisis team and as a therapist on the inpatient psychiatric unit at LDS Hospital. While working at LDS Hospital, she saw excellent results with Ketamine treatment for severe depression, OCD, and suicidal ideation. Realizing she wanted to do deeper work with clients beyond the initial crisis of being in the hospital, she opened her private practice, Therapy Alliance, in 2016. She opened Ketamine Therapy at Therapeutic Alternatives in 2018 with Austin Francom, after seeing great results with her patients who were in ketamine therapy. Candace's approach to healing is focused on creating a safe space for individuals to heal, as well as empowering patients to create safety inside of themselves. Austin is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner through the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). He started his work in health care at Volunteers of America social detox and the University of Utah's Neuropsychiatric Institute while obtaining undergraduate degrees in Psychology and Sociology. After starting a nursing career, with experience largely in mental health and critical care, he earned a master's degree in nursing from Westminster College. He has been practicing in the Salt Lake Valley in primary care since 2013. Austin continues to work at UNI as an advanced practice clinician. In 2015, he began working full time in family practice at Summit Primary Care.Together, Austin and Candace began Ketamine Therapy at Therapeutic Alternatives in February 2019. They believed that Ketamine therapy could be safely and effectively administered in a setting that was less clinical and more welcoming. They set out to create a clinic that reflected this belief that inviting and comfortable surroundings could foster a more ideal environment for healing to happen. Each treatment room at Ketamine Therapy at Therapeutic Alternatives is designed with this philosophy in mind. The Dominican Republic has posted impressive economic growth rates over the past thirty years. Despite this, the generation of new, good jobs has been remarkably weak. How have ordinary and poor Dominicans worked and lived in the shadow of the country's conspicuous growth rates? Jobless Growth in the Dominican Republic: Disorganization, Precarity, and Livelihoods (Stanford UP, 2022) considers this question through an ethnographic exploration of the popular economy in the Dominican capital. Focusing on the city's precarious small businesses, including furniture manufacturers, food stalls, street-corner stores, and savings and credit cooperatives, Krohn-Hansen shows how people make a living, tackle market shifts, and the factors that characterize their relationship to the state and pervasive corruption. Empirically grounded, this book examines the condition of the urban masses in Santo Domingo, offering an original and captivating contribution to the scholarship on popular economic practices, urban changes, and today's Latin America and the Caribbean. This will be essential reading for scholars and policy makers. Alex Diamond is Assistant Professor of sociology at Oklahoma State University. Learn more about your ad choices. What do we even mean by "valuing disorganization" as it relates to our child's development and parenting in general? Well, you've heard of those sleep regressions and other changes that our little ones go through? As a educator and an early intervention provider, over the years I've heard tons of parents tell me how their child used to be a good eater but now he's not, or she used to be a good sleeper but now she's not. Did you know, regression in our child's behaviors can cause disorganization for us as parents? But how do we find value and learn in times like this? Tune into the episode now as we dive into this topic. A chance conversation Tiffany had last week sparked this episode about the possible benefits of living a country that doesn't take rules and regulations quite so seriously. Is there something to be said for a place that's a bit more flexible and relaxed, where people are more apt to "live and let live"? ------------------------------------- ADVERTISE WITH US: Reach expats, future expats, and travelers all over the world. It's time to add a new term to our organizing glossary: passive organizing. I've said for years that it really takes three years to get organized, but the first 12-18 months are not easily recognized in that process. The reason is that this first chunk of time is spent in passive organizing. What is passive organizing? Passive organizing is the time period during which you're becoming aware that maybe organization could help you become more productive. Maybe organization could help you get back your time. You're thinking, you're researching, and you're listening. This is passive organization. The change is happening in your mind, in your emotions, in your heart, and in your beliefs. Passive organizing is the "pink" work of organizing. This is the time frame when you're working on yourself. You haven't committed to organizing, but you're gathering information and working on your mindset. You're thinking about the when, the how, and the order. You're deciding who you want your teacher to be. In passive organizing, you're consuming exorbitant amounts of information. Sometimes, this can cause information overload and paralysis. You might struggle to take action because you see the best in all the options. Let's take a little rabbit trail. The Kolbe Assessment is a quantitative test that helps you determine how you think. Among other things, it tells you how you leverage these three areas of thinking and processing in order to complete a project: How much do you need to research something before you can do it? How much structure do you need before you can take action? How much do you need to talk before taking action? I am a "quick start." I spend the majority of my time talking about a project and then the active work portion of the project comes out really quickly at the end. I verbally process everything and I change my mind a lot. My team on the other hand tends to be much higher in research and/or structure. An example of this is how I wrote the book How ADHD Affects Home Organization. I completed the writing of the book in a weekend, but I spent two years preparing to write the book and talking about it first! How much research, structure, and talking do YOU need before you can take action on getting organized? The other obstacle to deciding to get started with organing is having a tipping point. You have to reach a point when the pain of continuing to live in the current state of life is greater than the pain of change and learning a new skill to get the result you want. You have to realize that organization is a learnable skill. Another tipping point is a golden window. These are big life events: a milestone birthday, a new baby, a new house, a new job, a loss, a health diagnosis, etc. Many times, multiple big events happen at the same time. These are seasons of opportunity. Disorganization leads to more disorganization, but when you seize the opportunity, these are major turning points. I want to remind you that I was once where you are. Back in 2012, I quit my teaching job, I was overweight, I was depressed, and everything was falling apart around me. You can read my story in Organization is a Learnable Skill and listen to my depression story in episode #69. I was negative and pessimistic. You would not have wanted to be my friend back then. What you see of me now is the after picture! You must also believe that you can get organized. You must make a decision that you are now going to live proactively instead of reactively. This is where you draw a line in the sand and step over it. And one day, you will find yourself listening to an Organize 365® Podcast episode and you just get up and start organizing while you listen instead of just gathering information! Are you ready to draw your line and get started on your organizing journey?
