From print newsletters to serialized storytelling, she shares why “small experiments” can transform how brands connect with audiences—and why playing it safe is the biggest risk of all.The conversation dives into what makes content meaningful (hint: it should make you feel something), how print is becoming a powerful “pattern disrupt” in digital-first industries, and why people-focused stories beat product features every time. Rachel also unpacks how to pitch creative ideas to leadership, measure success beyond leads, and start small without losing momentum. It's an inspiring look at how freelancers and brands alike can rediscover creativity, personality, and purpose in B2B content. This episode is sponsored by Ahrefs. It is my privilege to invite you to today's sermon podcast. May today's sermon come alive to you and aid you in your understanding of God's plan for your life. Well, do you believe in miracles? You know, you think about that statement, when pigs fly, does anyone's family members ever said that? Or have you ever heard that? Or is this so old that it's new again? I mean, interesting statement. It's meant to be a sarcastic remark, right? Like when you say when pigs fly, it's like, that'll never happen, you know? Will dad ever spend any money? Well, when pigs fly, that'll happen. Or like in my family, dad's going to let us get another cat. When pigs fly, that ain't happening. You know, when we think about just that phrasing of that, it just brings to light, not only is it funny, and of course, this isn't my original thing here, thanks to Life Church out of Oklahoma. I was looking through things to, do you have something? You believe in miracles. so there will not be any cats. Okay. We're not preaching about that today. We are preaching about deliverance today. So maybe my family needs to be delivered from something. ---- WHEN PIGS FLY: Miracles of Deliverance Ephesians 6:12-13 Main Idea: We serve a miracle-working God who still intervenes today. Four Types of Miracles Miracles of healing. Miracles of protection. Miracles of provision. Miracles of deliverance. Miracles of Deliverance God's power over demonic forces and spiritual darkness. Ephesians 6:12; Matthew 17:15–18 Understanding Demonic Influence Origin: Demons are fallen angels (Isaiah 14, Revelation 12). Common Mistakes: We over-emphasize demonic influence. We under-emphasize demonic influence. What do demons do? Demons tempt you to sin. - 2 Timothy 2:26 Demons distract you from God's will. - 1 Timothy 4:1 Demons inflict suffering. - Matthew 17:15, 17-18 Our Response You have miraculous authority over darkness in the name of Jesus. Matt. 10:1 We fight not with our power, but with Christ's authority. Don't assume every problem is a result of demonic influence. Don't assume any problem isn't a result of demonic influence. Employ Practical + Spiritual Action: Do what is natural + Pray for the supernatural. Examples: Seek medical help and pray for healing. Get counseling and pray for emotional deliverance. Parent wisely and pray for spiritual protection over children. Use discernment and follow spiritual promptings. Final Encouragement - John 1:5 You have authority over darkness in the name of Jesus. Put on the full armor of God (Ephesians 6). Fight from victory, not for victory. --- Find other Podcasts, Sermon Notes and the Bulletin here. https://www.mvcnaz.org/live Stay in touch with our Church Center App at https://www.mvcnaz.org/churchcenter Contact us through our CONNECT form at https://www.mvcnaz.org/connect   With Pastor Mike Curry.

It's important to ensure that the choices and promises made—whether to ourselves, our teams, or our company—support the future of the business rather than hinder it.   In this episode, you will learn how to identify cues that require closer attention, the true impact of promises on the bottom line, and how slowing down just a little can enhance your chances of success.   Jess Dewell speaks with Chuck Wisner, CEO of Wisner Inc., about what bold companies do to turn conflict into growth and how to break through conversational patterns that can sabotage innovation.   --------------------   If you want to identify business bottlenecks, the necessary skills, the initial actions to take, the expected milestones, and the priorities for achieving growth, try the "Growth Framework Reset" approach. Guest: Dia Bondi Guest Bio: Dia Bondi is a Communications Catalyst for high-impact people. In her private coaching and programs, she works with C-level leaders, VC-backed founders, and ambitious professionals, helping them find their voice and lead with it. Her workshops and talks are hosted by corporations including Quartz, Salesforce, Google's X-team, and Dropbox. In global sport, she helped Rio de Janeiro secure the 2016 Summer Olympics. After attending auctioneering school for fun, she translated the techniques she learned into a program that prepares ambitious professionals, and especially women, to ask for more and leave nothing on the table, called Ask Like an Auctioneer. She's been featured on CNBC Make It, Forbes, and Fast Company. Her book, Ask Like an Auctioneer: How to Ask for More and Get It, is available now.   Key Points: Dia's Backstory & Career Path Started her career in fitness, where she loved helping people feel powerful and embodied. Then, transitioned into training and development (professional development) after college. She discovered her passion for storytelling and communication while observing a workshop for finance leaders. Dia founded Dia Bondy Communications in 2009 to help leaders and VC-backed founders communicate effectively in high-stakes moments.   "Ask Like an Auctioneer" Concept Inspired by her side work as a fundraising auctioneer. The key principle: ask big enough to get a “no”, because a “no” signals you've reached the upper limit of what's possible. In business, people often limit their asks based on what they think they can get, leaving money and opportunity on the table. Instead of selling to the first yes, push further to uncover maximum value.   Overcoming Fear of Asking Fear of rejection keeps people from asking boldly. Many assume rejection damages relationships, but often it doesn't. Leaders should teach teams that discomfort (the Zofo—Zone of Freaking Out) is a signal of courage and potential growth. Reframe rejection: it's information about value, not a judgment of personal worth.   Lessons from Auctioneering for Business & Sales · Price = a reflection of value, not worth. The same item can sell for vastly different amounts depending on the audience. · Know your “reserve.” Like an auctioneer's minimum acceptable price, know your bottom line before asking. · People are irrational. Decisions are often emotional, even in data-driven environments—so storytelling is critical.   Four Types of Asks That Drive Growth 1.     Money – dollars, budgets, contracts. 2.     Influence – visibility, access to networks, platforming yourself. 3.     Authority – positioning yourself to make important decisions. 4.     Balance – aligning deals and clients with the kind of work you actually want.   Why People Struggle with Asking Fear of rejection. Lack of clarity on what to ask for and when to ask. Sometimes people make asks that are too small, too vague, or to the wrong audience.   Framework for a Strategic Ask (first 4 of 6 steps) Define your main concrete goal. Identify the next big move toward that goal. Determine the ask that advances that move. Ensure the ask is big enough to risk rejection. Storytelling Framework: “Blocker Buster” What your audience wants. What's blocking them from achieving it? How do you remove the blockers? Your ask (to move them forward).   Big Takeaways Asking boldly is a skill that can be learned. The most powerful ask live in the Zofo—the zone of freaking out. Rejection is not failure; it's valuable feedback about what the other side values. Asking strategically, with courage and clarity, maximizes opportunities for growth, influence, and alignment.   Guest Links: Connect on LinkedInCon Connect on Instagram https://www.diabondi.com/salesology Download The Powerful Ask Plan, a free tool to help you design a strategic ask.     About Salesology®: Conversations with Sales Leaders Download your free gift, The Salesology® Vault. Clear, honest, and effective communication is the cornerstone of high-performing leadership. Week 1 Big Idea: In a world of competing tribal identities, Paul reminds the Thessalonians - and us - that our primary identity as believers is our belonging to God's family, which changes everything about us.Week 2 Big Idea: Just as the early Christians boldly proclaimed Jesus as Lord in a world that worshipped Caesar, we're called to put our hope in Christ's kingdom rather than in political powers or cultural influences that promise to "save" us.Today's text: It's the section of the letter where Paul describes his entrance and strategy when he first arrived in Thessalonica (Acts 17). To better understand this passage in its context, we need to explain the situation in this city.Thessalonica was a thriving Roman city—a hub for trade, politics, and ideas. Like other major cities in the empire, it attracted traveling philosophers, orators, and moral teachers. These figures shaped public thought, civic identity, and moral behavior. We see this in Acts 17First, Paul was in Thessalonica (v1-9)Then went to Berea (v10-15)Then to Athens (v16-33)Acts 17:18 (NLT) 18 He also had a debate with some of the Epicurean and Stoic philosophers. When he told them about Jesus and his resurrection, they said, “What's this babbler trying to say with these strange ideas he's picked up?” Others said, “He seems to be preaching about some foreign gods.”To the average person in Thess, Paul would have looked like one of these philosophersToday we'll see: What Paul brought was greater than philosophy.Let me explain:Four Types of Philosophers in Paul's day:Epicureans – The Seekers of PleasureTaught that pleasure (understood as peace of mind and freedom from pain) was the greatest good.Focus: Avoid pain, enjoy simple pleasures, carpe diem (sieze the day).In today's world: Think of voices that say, “Just protect your peace,” or “Do whatever makes you happy,” often divorced from accountability or eternal truth.Ex: Oprah Winfrey“Life is not an obligation, but an opportunity to be whoever and whatever you want. ”“God is a feeling experience, not a believing experience.”Ex: Deepak Chopra“The universe has no fixed agenda. It responds to your intentions.”Stoics – The Disciplinarians of VirtueTaught that virtue is the highest good and that people should live according to reason.Focus: Self-control, inner peace, moral duty, acceptance of...

Josh Howell, LEI President, Mark Reich, LEI Chief Engineer Strategy, and Art Smalley discuss the four basic types of problem-solving. Art is a well-known expert in leadership, management, and the Toyota Way. He worked at Toyota Motor Corp. in Japan; helped to transform Donnelly Corp. in Michigan; was a consultant with McKinsey & Co.; and has authored several award-winning books, including Four Types of Problems.   The trio set out to discuss how the framework of the four types of problems maps onto the lean management system explained in Mark's recent book about hoshin kanri, Managing on Purpose, as well as daily management in Toyota, leadership, culture, and other related topics. The systematic intersection of these topics is a complex subject beyond just the simpler notion of “tools.” Art and Mark share respective viewpoints from their time at Toyota in Japan and what made the system so unique while trying to connect the dots of four types of problems, hoshin kanri, and other areas.  Josh kicks off the podcast by asking Art and Mark to examine in detail troubleshooting — the most frequent and possibly most misunderstood type of problem-solving. A good troubleshooting environment involves quickly attacking known problems with known solutions to get operations back to normal (i.e., how to mitigate issues that prevent achievement of near-term goals). They also review troubleshooting's relationship with the other types of problem-solving and the “flavors” of the types — gap from standard (how to prevent a problem from recurring by eliminating its underlying root causes), target condition (kaizen to elevate the standard), and open-ended (innovations and breakthrough thinking) — as well as the complex interaction of the four types with daily management and hoshin kanri.  Learn more about a lean management system and the connection between problem-solving, daily management, and hoshin kanri: lean.org/LMP

Connection forms the foundation of mental health and happiness, with disconnection from ourselves, others, the world, and something greater underlying virtually every psychological struggle we face.• Four types of connection: with self (authenticity), others (relationships), the world (nature/art), and something greater (awe/spirituality)• Modern distractions like social media, FOMO, and constant digital interruptions actively prevent meaningful connection• Self-connection provides the foundation for all other connections - if disconnected from ourselves, we can't truly connect elsewhere• Personal "connection formulas" vary widely - activities that energize one person may drain another• Novel shared experiences allow families and couples to see each other through fresh eyes and strengthen bonds• Friendships serve vital roles that romantic relationships cannot replace - no single relationship can meet all our connection needs• Workplace connection can be found by developing valued skills and experiencing flow states even in less-than-ideal jobs• Loneliness impacts physical health more than smoking, highlighting connection as a fundamental human needThe book "Super Psyched: Unleash the Power of the Four Types of Connection and Live the Life You Love" is available now on Amazon and Barnes & Noble, and you can learn more at DrAdamDorsay.com.Visit our site for FREE relationship resources and regular giveaways: Strongermarriage.org Podcast.stongermarriage.org Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/strongermarriage/ Facebook Marriage Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/770019130329579 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/strongermarriagelife/ Dr. Dave Schramm: http://drdaveschramm.com http://drdavespeaks.com Dr. Liz Hale: http://www.drlizhale.com

On this episode of Christopher Lochhead: Follow Your Different, we get a Pirates Perspective with our favorite fellow Category Pirates Eddie Yoon and Katrina Kirsch on how personal capital—financial resources, reputation, creativity, and relationships—can empower individuals to design a career and life on their own terms. Many people wake up every day working for someone else's dream, relying on a paycheck while wondering, “Is this all there is?” The truth is, breaking free from this cycle requires more than just ambition—it takes Personal Capital. We hope that this episode helps fellow Pirates see how they can build up their personal capital rather than mindlessly selling their time for money. You're listening to Christopher Lochhead: Follow Your Different. We are the real dialogue podcast for people with a different mind. So get your mind in a different place, and hey ho, let's go. The Four Types of Personal Capital To build a career that provides true freedom, you need more than just money. The four types of personal capital include: Financial Capital – Savings, investments, and income sources that give you the flexibility to take risks and invest in yourself. Reputation Capital – Your personal brand, expertise, and credibility that open doors to new opportunities. Creator Capital – The ability to generate unique ideas and create scalable value, especially in a digital-first world. Relationship Capital – A strong network of mentors, collaborators, and supporters who propel you forward. The hosts discuss that understanding and investing in these four areas allows individuals to shift from merely selling their time for money to leveraging their skills and resources for long-term independence. The Emotional Journey of Breaking Free Leaving behind a traditional career path is not just a financial challenge—it's an emotional one. Fear, self-doubt, and the weight of societal expectations can make this transition overwhelming. Each of the hosts then share their journey from restarting again to launching a successful business despite having no money or connections and the uncertainty of success. Entrepreneurs and career changers often grapple with fear of failure and imposter syndrome. However, taking control of one's career means embracing the discomfort of uncertainty and learning from failures rather than fearing them. The key is to develop radical agency—the mindset that you are the author of your own future. Adapting to the Changing Work Landscape The hosts then get to the topic of AI. The digital revolution, particularly the rise of AI and automation, is reshaping how we work. Traditional knowledge-based careers are being disrupted as AI makes existing information more accessible and commoditized. The new competitive edge lies in creative and entrepreneurial thinking. All three agree that in order to thrive in this evolving landscape, professionals must learn to shift from knowledge work to creator work, producing unique and scalable value. One must also leverage digital tools and platforms to build their brand and reach a global audience. And finally, one must continuously learn and reinvent themselves to stay ahead of industry shifts. The key takeaway? Now is the best time to embrace digital opportunities and take control of your career. Those who do will find greater flexibility, fulfillment, and financial independence.
