Cuentan que trabajaba en la oficina de correos, y le tocaba procesar las cartas en las que no era legible la dirección escrita en el sobre. Un día se topó con una carta escrita con mano temblorosa, y que iba dirigida a Dios, pero no tenía dirección alguna. Como esa carta no se habría de entregar a nadie, decidió abrirla para ver de qué trataba. «Querido Dios —decía—: Soy una viuda de ochenta y cuatro años que vive de una pequeña pensión. Ayer alguien robó mi bolsa, que tenía diez mil pesos. Era lo que me quedaba de la quincena, y ahora voy a tener que esperar hasta mi próximo cheque. No sé qué hacer. »El próximo domingo es Navidad. Por eso invité a dos amigas mías a cenar; pero sin dinero, no tendré qué ofrecerles. No tengo comida ni para mí misma, ni tampoco tengo familia. ¡Eres todo lo que tengo, mi única esperanza! »¿Podrías ayudarme? ¡Por favor! »Atentamente, María.» Fue tal el efecto que hizo la carta en aquel empleado del correo que decidió mostrársela a sus compañeros de trabajo. Todos quedaron sorprendidos, y comenzaron a donar de lo que tenían en sus bolsillos y carteras. Al final de la tarde, habían aportado entre todos ocho mil ochocientos pesos. Así que los pusieron en un sobre, forrados de papel aluminio, y los enviaron a la dirección de María, la remitente. Esa tarde todos los empleados que habían participado en la colecta sintieron un rico calorcito en el ambiente y una sensación de satisfacción que no habían experimentado hacía mucho tiempo, de sólo pensar en lo que habían hecho por María y sus amigas. Algunos días después de la Navidad, llegó a la misma oficina de correos otra carta de María. La reconocieron de inmediato por la escritura y porque iba dirigida a Dios. Así que la abrieron, y todos, con mucha curiosidad, escucharon lo que decía: «Querido Dios: Con lágrimas en los ojos y con toda la gratitud de mi corazón te escribo estas líneas para decirte que hemos pasado, mis amigas y yo, una de las mejores Navidades de la vida, y todo por tu maravilloso regalo. »Debes saber que siempre hemos sido fieles a tu Palabra y hemos seguido todos tus mandamientos. Tal vez esa sea la razón de tu benevolencia con nosotras y en especial conmigo. ¡Gracias, Señor! »Por cierto, faltaban mil doscientos pesos, nada importante; ¡seguramente se los robaron esos ladrones del correo!» ¡Qué graciosa y a la vez injusta suposición la de aquella anciana! ¡Es el colmo que se imaginara que el dinero faltante se lo hubieran robado precisamente las personas que con tanta generosidad se habían esforzado por suplir lo que ella necesitaba para pasar la Navidad! Así lo juzgamos todos los que escuchamos la historia, y sin embargo con frecuencia somos culpables de lo mismo, aunque a la inversa. ¿Acaso no es eso lo que hacemos cuando culpamos a Dios de darnos una vida insoportable, siendo que Él ha hecho todo lo contrario? Él dio a su Hijo Jesucristo, quien entregó su vida misma para que cada uno de nosotros pueda disfrutar de vida plena y eterna.1 Más vale que nos aseguremos de reconocer debidamente ese incomparable acto de caridad divina. (Día de los Reyes) Era el año 1902 y la ciencia no estaba tan avanzada como para que recibieran previo aviso. De repente los ensordeció un estallido pavoroso y quedaron sepultados bajo la lava del volcán. Sintieron que el mundo se les venía encima, pero no tuvieron tiempo para protegerse. La inmensa nube roja que la montaña Pelée escupió sobre la tierra aniquiló en un instante a los treinta y cuatro mil habitantes de Saint Pierre en la isla Martinica... a todos menos uno. El que sobrevivió se llamaba Ludger Sylbaris. Era el único preso de la ciudad, y las paredes de la cárcel en que estaba recluido habían sido construidas a prueba de fugas. De modo que el único que se salvó fue el condenado.1 Hay quienes, al oír un caso insólito como este, investigarían a ver si aquel preso nació de pie. Para ellos, eso explicaría su buena suerte porque, según la antigua superstición popular, los que nacen con los pies por delante, y no de cabeza, como es más habitual, tienen una vida mucho más afortunada que la de los demás.2 En el caso del preso, el hecho de salir con vida lo calificó de afortunado. Tal vez no le haya ido bien antes de ser encarcelado, pero en última instancia eso es lo de menos. Hay un refrán bastante conocido que es afín al modismo «nacer de pie». El refrán dice: «Unos nacen con estrella, y otros nacen estrellados.» Si bien a todos nos da a entender la distinta suerte de las personas, a muchos nos recuerda el nacimiento del niño Jesús, el Hijo de Dios. Pudiera pensarse que la estrella que guió a los reyes magos a Belén auguraba un futuro brillante para el niño. ¿Acaso no la seguían aquellos sabios del Oriente porque se trataba del futuro rey de los judíos?3 Pero ¿cómo podemos calificar de brillante el futuro del tal «afortunado» si lo que le aguardaba era malentendidos, traiciones y abandono por parte de sus amigos, y por parte suya, la abnegación, el sacrificio y la entrega total hasta la muerte más cruel en plena juventud?4 El destino de Jesucristo, desde el día en que nació, era morir clavado en una cruz por los pecados de todas las personas de todas las épocas.5 De modo que, en sentido figurado, Él no nació ni de pie ni con estrella ni estrellado, sino destinado a morir por nosotros, y eso no tiene nada que ver ni con la buena ni con la mala fortuna... a no ser la buena fortuna nuestra. Porque a raíz de su muerte premeditada, cada uno de nosotros puede ahora alcanzar su propio destino divino, que es llegar a ser transformados según la imagen de ese niño de Belén.6 Y lo irónico del caso es que, si nos proponemos lograrlo, en vez de ser como aquel condenado que, sin merecerlo, fue el único que se salvó cuando los demás murieron, seremos como el Único que murió, sin merecerlo, para que los demás podamos salvarnos. En este mensaje tratamos el caso de un hombre que «descargó su conciencia» en nuestro sitio www.conciencia.net. Lo hizo de manera anónima, como pedimos que se haga; así que, a pesar de que nunca se lo había contado a nadie, nos autorizó a que lo citáramos, como sigue: «Tengo veintiocho años de edad. Me enamoré de una mujer soltera... de cuarenta y siete años de edad. Nuestra relación ha sido muy firme. Hemos estado muy felices [y] nos hemos casado... Pero tengo un problema: Mi familia no lo sabe... porque pienso que sería tropiezo para nuestra relación. »Cada vez que hablo con mi familia, les miento y les digo que estoy solo. Pero mi conciencia no está tranquila.… ¿Qué hago?» Este es el consejo que le dimos: «Estimado amigo: »¡Lo felicitamos por su feliz matrimonio! Ojalá que más personas de nuestra audiencia tuvieran matrimonios felices. »Usted piensa que, si su familia se enterara, sería perjudicial para la relación que tienen. Al parecer, cree que miembros de su familia harían o dirían cosas que pudieran interponerse entre los dos. Como no nos dio más información al respecto, es evidente que usted piensa que su familia no aprobará la diferencia de edades entre usted y su esposa, y que en realidad tratarán de lograr que se separen. Tal vez tenga miedo de que lastimen a su esposa emocionalmente y de que ella lo culpe a usted por lo que digan ellos, o de que ella espere que usted esté de parte suya en contra de ellos, y usted no está seguro si tiene la fuerza de voluntad para hacerlo. Quizá sus padres aún lo traten a usted como un niño, a pesar de que ya tiene veintiocho años y vive a cierta distancia de donde viven ellos. »Cualquiera que sea la verdad acerca de la relación complicada que usted tiene con sus padres, eso no tiene tanta importancia como el reconocer que el mentir no sólo hará que le remuerda la conciencia, sino que también empeorará lo que sienten de parte y parte el día en que sus padres al fin se enteren de que está casado. Es probable que se sientan mucho más decepcionados por sus mentiras y su vida secreta que por la edad de su esposa. Cada día que usted siga mintiéndoles sólo contribuirá a empeorar la situación. »Tanto Jesucristo como el apóstol Pablo citaron el pasaje del libro de Génesis que dice que, cuando un hombre se casa, ha de dejar a su padre y a su madre y de unirse a su esposa.1 En este caso, el dejarlos indica no sólo distancia física sino también distanciamiento emocional. El momento en que un hombre toma a su esposa como tal, su mayor lealtad (que pudo haber antes reservado para sus padres) se la debe ahora a su esposa. Sigue amando a sus padres y los honra, pero para que tenga un matrimonio feliz, su esposa siempre tiene que ocupar el primer lugar. Cuando un hombre permite que su familia se interponga entre él y su esposa, desintegra la unidad matrimonial que Dios dispuso que experimentaran como pareja. El vínculo afectivo entre los dos se debilita, y casi siempre resultan otros problemas. Ahora nos esperan muchos "segundos" por delante. Mientras que el primer día del año está lleno de emociones, el segundo está marcado por la razón.A muchas personas no les gusta la palabra "segundo" porque parece denotar algo inferior, de segunda categoría. Es necesario recordar que quien le da forma a tu día eres tú. Lo que define tu felicidad y tu destino son las decisiones que tomas en tu día a día. Por eso, debes vivir cada segundo con sabiduría. Mantente firme en los planes que estableciste para este año. iTú eres el responsable de tu futuro! Y no olvides que son tus elecciones, no las circunstancias, las que marcan tu destino.Hablemos con sinceridad. No siempre el "segundo" es tan malo como parece. A veces, las medallas de plata tienen sabor a victoria, la comida recalentada sabe aún mejor y el lunes puede ser el día más emocionante de la semana. Pablo fue encarcelado varias veces, siempre injustamente. ¿Cómo respondes cuando te tratan injustamente? ¿Qué promesas bíblicas puedes sugerir para hacer frente a esos momentos? 2. Acerca de la persecución de los cristianos, Tertuliano (150-225 d. C.), un líder de la iglesia primitiva, dijo: “Nos hacemos más numerosos cada vez que nos cosechan: la sangre de los cristianos es semilla” (Apologético 50.13). Al mismo tiempo, la persecución en algunos lugares y épocas ha obstaculizado enormemente la obra de la iglesia. ¿De qué maneras podemos apoyar a quienes sufren persecución por su fe? 3. Las estadísticas indican que solo el 8%de los grandes proyectos se llevan a cabo.Stephen Guise, en su obra Minihábitos: Cómo lograr grandes resultados con el mínimo esfuerzo, comparte la experiencia de comenzar una rutina de ejercicios. Pensar en hacer cincuenta flexiones y cien abdominales lo paralizaba. Un día reflexionó: "Hacer cincuenta flexiones, para mí, es como subir el Everest. ¿Y si lo pienso de otra manera?" Entonces, concluyó: "No tengo inconvenientes en hacer una sola flexión". Lo logró y así comprobó la fuerza de los minihábitos.Así, sugirió dejar de lado los proyectos grandes y enfocarse en dar pequeños pasos, uno a la vez. Para él, tener buenas intenciones o pensar en grande no basta, porque puede desmotivar en lugar de generar motivación y logros concretos. Si pensamos en pasos muy distantes, no daremos el primero.Una flexión en lugar de cincuenta, escribir un párrafo en vez de un capítulo, y leer una página en lugar de treinta son acciones practicables aquí y ahora.El versículo de hoy nos llama a ser perfectas. La palabra "perfecto", del griego telios, significa "plenamente desarrollado", "completo". Esta idea de perfección es funcional. "Sean perfectos" implica estar en el proceso de maduración, en la dirección del crecimiento, en camino hacia el ideal.La mayoría de los días, cuando Guise empezaba a practicar el minihábito de la única flexión, terminaba haciendo más de una flexión. A veces, hacía cincuenta. Cuando no se sentía tan motivado, al menos hacía una sola flexión. Esa es la idea: para cumplir el objetivo, sustituiremos las dosis excesivas por otras más pequeñas, que aumentarán con el tiempo.Estamos empezando un nuevo año. ¿Qué hábitos quieres desarrollar en tu camino espiritual? ¿Cómo va tu comunión diaria con Dios? ¿Cómo combates los pensamientos negativos? ¿Cómo cuidas tu salud? Tal vez, practicar algunos hábitos te parezca difícil. ¿Qué te parece intentar en dosis más pequeñas? Si no puedes dedicar una hora al día a tu relación con Dios, empieza con unos minutos. Si leer un capítulo de la Biblia al día te resulta imposible, empieza con unos versículos. Si no puedes tomar seis vasos de agua, empieza con uno al día.Piensa en el primer paso que puedes dar hoy, aunque solo sea una flexión.

Me he estado preguntando acerca de la causa del abrumador crecimiento de las redes sociales. No soy una experta, pero tengo algunas ideas propias. Nuestra cultura se ha vuelto cada vez más aislante con el tiempo. En lugar de unirnos a iglesias de por vida, nos mudamos a otra ciudad u otra iglesia. En lugar de caminar por la puerta de al lado para pedirle consejo a nuestras abuelas, usamos motores de búsqueda y leemos blogs. Si esto suena mordaz, discúlpeme. Soy una mujer que se ha conformado con “hacerse amiga” en línea en lugar de llamar a la puerta de una amiga debido a algunas heridas pasadas. Es más fácil “allá afuera” que cerca, ¿no es así? Estaba reflexionando un día sobre el tiempo y el espacio en el que nació Jesús. ¿Por qué no envió a Jesús durante nuestro día? Jesús escogió las relaciones profundas como la forma de transmitir Su mensaje en el tiempo hasta que Él venga de nuevo. Él fue quien nos creó a Su propia imagen con una necesidad ineludible de una relación cara a cara, de corazón a corazón. 1 Corintios 4:2 "Ahora bien, se requiere de los administradores, que cada uno sea hallado fiel”.Tenemos que aprender a ser buenos administradores de nuestra vida, y nuestra vida contiene nuestro pasado, nuestro presente y nuestro futuro. El pasado se encuentra en nuestra mente y nuestro corazón, nuestro presente debemos entregarlo a Dios y nuestro futuro le pertenece a Dios.El ser humano, hoy por hoy, vive en un constante estado de caos cuando se trata de pensar en lo que fue nuestro pasado, cuando se trata de mirar lo que está pasando en nuestro presente y cuando se trata de proyectar lo que viene hacia nuestro futuro.Cuando una persona es altamente atormentada por el ayer y dice: “Es que usted no sabe lo que yo me equivoqué, no sabe lo que yo hice; a veces me persigue la culpa, el señalamiento... tengo cosas del ayer que yo no quiero que salgan a la luz”, eso puede generar en la vida exceso de pasado. Da como resultado, en muchos casos, depresión.Por otro lado, cuando pensamos hacia el futuro, entonces estamos preocupados: “¿Cómo voy a pagar el semestre de mis hijos? ¿Qué va a pasar con mi hogar? ¿Qué va a pasar con mi ministerio? ¿Qué va a pasar con mi proyectos?”. Esa abundancia de futuro es conocida como ansiedad. Cuando hay mucho pasado y hay mucho futuro, el presente entra en caos y aparece el famoso estrés. Hay gente que no está tranquila: Cuando mira hacia atrás, no encuentra paz; cuando mira su presente, no encuentra paz; y cuando mira hacia el futuro, tampoco encuentra paz.Hoy le voy a mostrar a través de la Palabra, un versículo en el que Dios habló de todo esto, me sorprendió leer un profeta en el que veo que, para Dios, los tiempos siempre están: el presente, el pasado y el futuro. Libro de Isaías 46:9-13 (NTV):“Recuerden las cosas que hice en el pasado, pues sólo yo soy Dios; yo soy Dios y no hay otro como yo. Sólo yo puedo predecir el futuro antes de que suceda. Todos mis planes se cumplirán porque yo hago lo que deseo. Llamaré a una veloz ave de rapiña desde el oriente y a un líder de tierras lejanas para que venga y haga lo que yo le ordeno. He dicho lo que haría y lo cumpliré. Escúchame, pueblo terco, tú que estás tan lejos de actuar con justicia; pues estoy listo para rectificarlo todo. Y escucha esto: no en un futuro lejano, sino ahora mismo, estoy listo para salvar a Jerusalén y mostrarle mi gloria a Israel”.Dios habla del pasado y dice: “No traigan a memoria lo que pasó ayer, no permitan que lo que sucedió en el pasado les haga daño; más bien, recuerden todo lo bueno que yo he hecho por ustedes”, también afirma en Isaías 48:18-19 “No os acordéis de las cosas pasadas, ni traigáis a memoria las cosas antiguas. He aquí que yo hago cosa nueva; pronto saldrá a luz; ¿no la conoceréis? Otra vez abriré camino en el desierto, y ríos en la soledad”. Del futuro dice: “Soy el único que puede predecir el futuro”, en Jeremías 29:11 "Porque yo sé los planes que tengo para ustedes —afirma el Señor—, planes de bienestar y no de calamidad, a fin de darles un futuro y una esperanza", y en Isaías 46:9-10: "Yo soy Dios, y no hay otro Dios, y nada hay semejante a mí, que anuncio lo por venir desde el principio, y desde la antigüedad lo que aún no era hecho; que digo: Mi consejo permanecerá, y haré todo lo que quiero”.Y del presente dice: “Voy a poner en orden sus vidas, pero no en el futuro; lo voy a hacer ahora mismo, en el presente”. Eso es lo que Dios ordena y promete a cada uno de nosotros, pero hoy tenemos que tomar acciones precisas, para que cada promesa y cada palabra se cumplan en nuestras vidas:Dios es Dios de promesas,  Dios es fiel y siempre cumple lo que promete, no por capricho, sino por su naturaleza de ser veraz, justo y amoroso, ofreciendo vida, esperanza y cumplimiento a quienes confían en Él. ¿Qué implica que Dios sea un Dios de promesas?Fidelidad inmutable: Dios no es un ser humano que miente o se arrepiente; su palabra es segura y se cumple.Veracidad: Su naturaleza de verdad garantiza que sus promesas son reales y dignas de confianza.Poder y conocimiento: Como un Dios omnipotente y omnisciente, tiene el poder y el conocimiento para llevar a cabo todo lo que promete.Amor y gracia: Sus promesas son un reflejo de su amor, ofreciendo perdón, vida plena, guía y un futuro eterno a quienes creen en Él. Estoy seguro que, luego de esta palabra, en tu corazón va a venir sanidad y vas a tener paz en el nombre de Jesús.¿Cómo afrontar el pasado en mi vida? ¿Cómo vivir entendiendo que hay cosas que están en el ayer y que no podemos cambiar? ¿Cómo vivir, comprendiendo que hay experiencias, cosas que tuvimos o cosas que nos faltaron? Muchas veces estas experiencias empiezan a traer consecuencias a nuestro hoy, a nuestro ahora, muchas veces cuando usted mira hacia atrás, y nos lamentamos, algunos hasta se sienten culpables porque dicen: “Si yo hubiera sido más sabio, si yo hubiera sido más inteligente, si yo hubiera escuchado más a Dios, mi presente no estaría tan colapsado por los errores de mi pasado”, otros dicen: “Si yo hubiera hecho esto o lo otro, no me hubiera sucedido lo que estoy viviendo en el presente”.Pero hoy te quiero mostrar tres cosas que la Biblia nos enseña que debemos hacer con el pasado:Sana lo que quedó pendiente¿Por qué es tan importante la sanidad para Dios? Es importante que las cuentas del pasado estén saldadas; para Dios es importante que aquellos pendientes del ayer, delante de su presencia, estén al día. ¿Sabe por qué? Porque cuando Dios va a subir a una persona a un nuevo nivel, primero le sana el pasado, para que el pasado nunca le vaya a frenar el presente, y mucho menos frenarle su futuro.Veo la historia de Jacob y Esaú. La Biblia dice que por problemas familiares ellos se separaron. Jacob se va a trabajar a la casa de su tío, el tramposo Labán, y Esaú se queda con su padre Isaac. Dice la palabra del Señor que, en medio de esta separación, a Jacob le va difícil; le toca una vida complicada. Su tío es un tramposo: lo engaña por 14 años, lo hace trabajar más de la cuenta, veinte años de trabajo sin recibir nada a cambio y a pesar de eso Dios lo prospera, lo bendice y todo lo que le prometió, se lo dio; en Génesis 28:20-22 “E hizo Jacob voto, diciendo: Si fuere Dios conmigo, y me guardare en este viaje en que voy, y me diere pan para comer y vestido para vestir, y si volviere en paz a casa de mi padre, Jehová será mi Dios. Y esta piedra que he puesto por señal, será casa de Dios; y de todo lo que me dieres, el diezmo apartaré para ti”, Jacob hace un voto condicional, después de soñar con una escalera al cielo y recibir promesas de Dios sobre su descendencia y la tierra; y comienza el cumplimiento de la promesa en Génesis 30:43 dice: "Y se enriqueció el varón muchísimo, y tuvo muchas ovejas, y siervas y siervos, y camellos y asnos"En medio de los procesos del pasado, muchos de nosotros hemos decidido reconstruirnos, aquí hay gente que, aunque falló en el ayer, se ha esforzado en su presente por tener una mejor historia. Muchos testifican: “Tal vez no tuve un papá, pero me pude superar; tal vez cometí errores en el ayer, pero me he podido levantar”. Eso fue lo que le pasó a Jacob, a pesar de que su tío engañó, Dios hizo que a Jacob le fuera bien. La razón es que “Aunque hemos tenido un pasado difícil, quien decide hacer las cosas de manera correcta se va a levantar en el nombre de Jesús”.Cuando finalmente Jacob tiene su bendición y sale de la casa de su tío, Dios se le aparece en Padán Aram. Casualmente dicen cosas como: “Jesús perdonó, ¿por qué tú no?” La realidad es que a menudo es un viaje desigual para nosotros cuando aceptamos Su gracia, aprendemos y nos esforzamos por vivir Su ejemplo. Jesús se encontró con un hombre que estaba paralítico. La necesidad era obvia, pero en lugar de sanar sus piernas, Jesús dijo: “Tus pecados te son perdonados”. Él abordó primero el tema del corazón del hombre antes de ocuparse de su cuerpo físico. Jesús no ha cambiado. Todavía ve al corazón primero. He perdonado, pero seguiré perdonando a medida que enfrente los desafíos de la vida. Lo he escuchado en las iglesias y en tu Palabra, claro está; y aun la misma naturaleza me dice que tú vienes ya. Más hoy me he descubierto aquí entre placeres de la vida, entre envidias y el rencor, entre mis planes donde tú no estás. Como si no fuera realidad o no anhelara tu venida. Me he descubierto hoy. He imaginado pocas veces que tú regresas otra vez; no está en mi lista de prioridades, aunque tu hija afirmo ser. Tal vez me encuentro satisfecha con la vida que me das; tal vez también me he olvidado que este mundo no es mi hogar». Esta es la letra de un canto que un día me nació escribir, y hoy me pregunto: ¿no será que por eso no hemos alcanzado la plenitud de la felicidad en nuestro llamado viaje al cielo?Pensamos y vivimos en horizontal. Nuestras esperanzas están puestas tan solo en lo que vemos, tocamos y oímos. Ante esta perspectiva de vida, el apóstol Pablo nos llama desdichados; en otra versión se traduce, «dignos de lástima». Cuando nuestros amados mueren, recordamos las promesas de encontrarnos junto al río, de volvernos a abrazar, pero, ¿estamos viviendo realmente para ser parte de ese momento? En los funerales, he oído frases como ¡ojalá hoy regresara el Señor para que mi ser amado vuelva a la vida! Pero pasados los días de duelo, cuando el corazón va sanando, nuevamente la promesa vuelve a verse muy lejana y ya no se desea tanto como aquel día que se llevó al ser querido a enterrar al panteón. Y es aquí donde nos volvemos «dignas de lástima».Querida amiga, la buena noticia es que nos preparamos para un mundo más allá de la muerte. Por la certeza de la resurrección de Jesús, hoy podemos confiar que el día llegará en que habrá vida después de la muerte. Resucitará quien se haya despojado de todo estorbo terrenal y será levantado quien se haya preparado para la otra vida. Vivamos de tal manera que cuando Cristo vuelva, vayamos al eterno hogar con él.

Transcript of the Interview: Manya Brachear Pashman:   As the international community looks to phase two of the cease fire between Israel and the Hamas terror group in Gaza, the American Jewish Committee office in Abu Dhabi invited Dr Tal Becker to participate in discussions about what's next for the region. Dr Becker is one of Israel's leading experts on international humanitarian law and a veteran peace negotiator with Palestinians, Lebanese and Syrians. He is currently vice president of the Shalom Hartman Institute, and he joins us now right after the conference in Abu Dhabi to share some of the insights he contributed there.  Tal, welcome to People of the Pod. Tal Becker:   Thank you very much, Manya. Manya Brachear Pashman:   So Tal, you have just returned from a conference in Abu Dhabi where you really took a deep dive, kind of exploring the nature of Arab-Israeli relations, as we are now entering the second phase of the ceasefire between Israel and Gaza.  So I'm just curious, you've been steeped in this for so long, for decades, do you sense, or did you sense a significant shift in the region when it comes to Arab-Israeli relations and the future? Tal Becker:   So I think Manya, we're at a very kind of interesting moment, and it's hard to say exactly which direction it's going, because, on the one hand, we have had very significant military successes. I think a lot of the spoilers in the region have been significantly set back, though they're still there, but Israel really has had to focus on the military side of things a lot. And it, I think, has strained to some extent, the view of what's possible because we're being so focused on the military side.  And I think it is a moment for imagining what's possible. And how do we pivot out of the tragedy and suffering of this war, make the most of the military successes we've had, and really begin to imagine what this region could look like if we're going to continue to succeed in pushing back the spoilers in this way.  Israel is a regional power, and I think it for all our vulnerability that requires, to some extent, for Israel to really articulate a vision that it has for the region. And it's going to take a little bit of time, I think, for everybody to really internalize what's just happened over these last two years and what it means for the potential for good and how we navigate that. So I really think it's kind of like what they call a plastic moment right now. Manya Brachear Pashman:   A plastic moment, can you define that, what do you mean by plastic? Tal Becker:   So what I mean by a plastic moment, meaning it's that moment. It's an inflection point right where, where things could go in one direction or another, and you have to be smart enough to take advantage of the fluidity of the moment, to really emphasize how do we maximize prosperity, stability, coexistence? How do we take away not just the capabilities of the enemies of peace, but also the appeal of their agenda, the language that they use, the way they try to present Muslim Jewish relations, as if they're a kind of zero sum game. So how do we operate both on the economic side, on the security side, but also on the imagining what's possible side, on the peace side. As difficult as that is, and I don't want to suggest that, you know, there aren't serious obstacles, there are, but there's also really serious opportunities. Manya Brachear Pashman:   So what did you sense when you were there, in terms of the perception of Israel? I mean, were people optimistic, for lack of a better term? Tal Becker:   So first of all, it was, you know, a great opportunity to be there. And having been involved, personally, very intensively in the Abraham Accords, I always feel a bit emotional whenever I'm in the Emirates in particular, and Morocco and Bahrain and so on. And to be honest, I kind of feel at home there. And so that's a lovely thing.  I think, on the one hand, I would say there's a there's a relief that hopefully, please God, the war in Gaza is is behind us, that we're now looking at how to really kind of move into the phase of the disarmament of Hamas and the removal of Hamas from governance, you know, working with the Trump team and the Trump plan. And I think they have a bunch of questions. The Emiratis in particular, are strategic thinkers. They really want to be partners in advancing prosperity and stability across the region in pushing back extremism across the region, and I think they're eager to see in Israel a partner for that effort. And I think it puts also a responsibility on both of us to understand the concerns we each have. I mean, it takes some time to really internalize what it is for a country to face a seven-front war with organizations that call for its annihilation, and all the pressure and anxiety that that produces for a people, frankly, that hasn't had the easiest history in terms of the agenda of people hating the Jewish people and persecuting them. So I think that takes a bit of appreciation.  I think we also, in the return, need to appreciate the concerns of our regional partners in terms of making sure that the region is stable, in terms of giving an opportunity for, you know, one way I sometimes word it is that, we need to prepare for the worst case scenario. We need to prevent it from being a self fulfilling prophecy.  Which really requires you to kind of develop a policy that nevertheless gives an opportunity for things to get better, not just plan for things to get worse. And I think our partners in the Gulf in particular really want to hear from us, what we can do to make things better, even while we're planning and maybe even a bit cynical that things might be very difficult. Manya Brachear Pashman:   So you mentioned the Abraham Accords, and I'm curious if you feel that Israel, I know Israel has felt isolated, at times, very isolated, and perhaps abandoned, is even the correct word.  Do you feel that is the case as we enter the second phase of the ceasefire? Do you feel that is less so the case, and do you feel that that might be less so the case because of the Abraham Accords existence? Tal Becker:   Well, so let's first talk about the Abraham Accords and their significance.So I think a lot of people present the Abraham accords as kind of an agreement that is about shared interests and shared challenges and so on, and that's definitely true. But they are, in my view, at least aspirationally, something much bigger than that. First of all, they are almost the articulation of what I call a Judeo Muslim civilization, the view that Jews and Muslims, or that all different peoples of the Middle East belong to this place and have a responsibility for shaping its future. The way I describe the Abraham Accords is that they're a group of countries who basically have said that the argument about who the land belongs to is not as important as the understanding that we all belong to the land. And as a result of that, this is kind of a partnership against the forces of extremism and chaos, and really offering a version of Israeli Jewish identity and of Muslim Arab identity that is in competition with the Iranian-Hezbollah-Hamas narrative that kind of condemns us to this zero sum conflict.  So the first thing to say is that I think the Abraham Accords have such tremendous potential for reimagining the relationship between Muslims and Jews, for reimagining the future of the region, and for really making sure that the enemies of peace no longer shape our agenda, even if they're still there. So in that sense, the opening that the Abraham Accords offers is an opening to kind of reimagine the region as a whole. And I think that's really important. And I think we have now an opportunity to deepen the Accords, potentially to expand them to other countries, and in doing so, to kind of set back the forces of extremism in the region. In a strange way, I would say Manya that Israel is more challenged right now in the west than we are in the Middle East. Because in the West, you see, I mean, there's backlash, and it's a complicated picture, but you can see a kind of increasing voices that challenge Israel's legitimacy, that are really questioning our story. And you see that both on the extreme left and extreme right in different countries across the West, in different degrees. In the Middle East, paradoxically, you have at least a partnership around accepting one another within the region that seems to me to be very promising.  And in part, I have to say it's really important to understand, for all the tragedy and difficulty of this war, Israel demonstrated an unbelievable resilience, unbelievable strength in dealing with its its adversaries, an unbelievable capacity, despite this seven front challenge, and I think that itself, in a region that's a very difficult region, is attractive. I think we do have a responsibility and an interest in imagining how we can begin to heal, if that's a word we can use the Israeli Palestinian relationship, at least move in a better direction. Use the Trump plan to do that, because that, I think, will also help our relationship in the region as a whole, without making one dependent on the other. Manya Brachear Pashman:   So I want to follow up with what you just said, that Israel faces perhaps many more challenges in the west than in the region. What about the Jewish people, would you apply that same statement to the Jewish people? Tal Becker:   Well, I think, you know, we've seen, we've seen the rise of antisemitism. And in my view, one way to think about October 7 is that October 7 marks the end of the post-Holocaust era. So there were a few decades there where, even if antisemitism existed, there were many circles in which it was socially unacceptable to give it voice. And something has shattered in the West in particular that it seems to be more socially acceptable to express antisemitism or antisemitic-adjacent type views, and that, I think has has really shocked and shaken many Jews across the western world.  I guess the thing I would say about that is, you know, some of the Jews I come across in the West were under, in my view, a bit of an illusion, that antisemitism had somehow been cured. You feel this sometimes in North America, and that essentially, we had reached a stage in Jewish history where antisemitism was broadly a thing of the past and was on the margins, and then the ferocity with which it came back on October 8 was like a trauma. And one of the definitions of trauma is that trauma is a severe challenge to the way you understand the world and your place in it.  And so if you had this understanding of your reality that antisemitism was essentially a thing of the past in North America in particular. And then all of a sudden it came back. You can see that traumatic experience. And what I want to argue or suggest is that the problem isn't that we had the solution and lost it. I think the problem was we had an illusion that there was a solution in the first place. Unfortunately, I think the Jewish people's history tells the story that antisemitism is kind of like the zombie apocalypse. It never exactly disappears. You can sometimes marginalize it more or marginalize it less. And we're now entering an era which I think Jews are familiar with, which is an era that it is becoming more socially acceptable to be antisemitic. And that to some extent, Jewish communal life feels more conditional and Jewish identity, and while being accepted in the societies in which you live also feels more conditional.  And while that is a familiar pattern, we are probably the generation of Jews with more resources, more influence, more power, more capacity than probably at any other time in Jewish history. And so it would be a mistake, I think, to think of us as kind of going back to some previous era. Yes, there are these challenges, but there are also a whole set of tools. We didn't have the F35 during the Spanish Inquisition.  So I think that despite all these challenges, it's also a great moment of opportunity for really building Jewish communities that are resilient, that have strong Jewish identity, that are that have a depth of Jewish literacy, and trying to inoculate as much as possible the societies in which we live and the communities in which we live from that phenomenon of antisemitism perhaps better than we had had done in previous iterations of this.  Manya Brachear Pashman:   I also want to go back and explore another term that you've used a couple of times, and that is enemies of peace. And I'm curious how you define the enemies of peace. Who are you talking about? And I'm asking you to kind of take a step back and really broaden that definition as much as possible. Tal Becker:   I mean, it goes back to that idea that I mentioned about the Abraham Accords, which is an understanding that there are different peoples in the Middle East that call it home, and each of those peoples deserves a place where they can nurture their identity and cultivate it and have their legitimacy respected, and in that sense, those who are engaged in a kind of zero sum competition, that feel that their exist, existence depends on the obliteration of the other. I see those as enemies of peace.  Now, I believe that both Jews and Palestinians, for example, have a right to self determination. I think that both belong in the sense that both deserve the capacity to cultivate their own identity. But the right to self determination, for example, the Palestinian right to self determination doesn't include the right to deny the Jewish right to self determination. It doesn't include the right to erase Jewish history.  In the same way that we as Jews need to come to terms with the fact that the Palestinian people feel a real connection to this place. Now, it's very difficult, given how radicalized Palestinian society is, and we have to be very realistic about the threats we face, because for as long as the dominant narrative in Palestinian society is a rejection of Jewish belongingness and self determination, we have a very difficult challenge ahead of us. But I essentially, broadly speaking, would say, the enemies of peace are those who want to lock us into a zero sum contest. Where essentially, they view the welfare of the other as a threat to themselves. Y You know, we have no conflict with Lebanon. We have no conflict with the people of Iran, for example. We have a conflict, in fact, a zero sum conflict with an Iranian regime that wants to annihilate Israel. And I often point to this kind of discrepancy that Iran would like to destroy Israel, and Israel has the audacity to want not to be destroyed by Iran. That is not an equivalent moral playing field. And so I view the Iranian regime with that kind of agenda, as an enemy of peace. And I think Israel has an obligation to also articulate what its aspirations are in those regards, even if it's a long time horizon to realize those aspirations, because the enemies are out there, and they do need to be confronted effectively and pretty relentlessly. Manya Brachear Pashman:   For our series on the Abraham Accords, Architects of Peace, I spoke with Dr Ali Al Nuami, and we talked about the need for the narrative to change, and the narrative on both sides right, the narrative change about kind of what you refer to as a zero sum game, and for the narrative, especially out of Israel, about the Palestinians to change. And I'm curious if you've given that any thought about changing, or just Israel's ability or obligation to send a message about the need for the Palestinians indeed to achieve self determination and thrive. Tal Becker:   Well, I think first, it's important to articulate how difficult that is, simply because, I mean, Israel has faced now two years of war, and the sense that I think many Israelis felt was that Palestinian society at large was not opposed to what happened on October 7, and the dominant narratives in Palestinian society, whether viewing Israel as some kind of a front to Islam, or viewing Israel as a kind of colonial enterprise to then be like in the business of suggesting a positive vision in the face of that is very difficult, and we do tend Manya, in these situations, when we say the narrative has to change, we then say, on the other side, they have to change the narrative, rather than directing that to ourselves. So I think, you know, there is an obligation for everyone to think about how best to articulate their vision.  It's a huge, I think, obligation on the Palestinian leadership, and it's a very one they've proved incapable of doing until now, which is genuinely come to terms with the Jewish people's belongingness to this part of the world and to their right to self determination. It's a core aspect of the difficulty in addressing this conflict. And having said all that, I think we as Israeli Jews also have an obligation to offer that positive vision. In my mind, there is nothing wrong with articulating an aspiration you're not sure you can realize, or you don't even know how to realize. But simply to signal that is the direction that I'm going in, you know?  I mean Prime Minister Netanyahu, for example, talks about that he wants the Palestinian people to have all the power to govern themselves and none of the power to threaten Israel. Which is a way of saying that the Palestinian people should have that capacity of self determination that gives them the potential for peace, prosperity, dignity, and security, But not if the purpose of that is to essentially be more focused on destroying Israel than it is on building up Palestinian identity. Now that I think, can be articulated in positive terms, without denying Israel's connection to the land, without denying the Jewish people's story, but recognizing the other. And yes, I think despite all the difficulties, victory in war is also about what you want to build, not just what you want to destroy. And in that sense, our ability to kind of frame what we're doing in positive terms, in other words, not just how we want to take away the capacities of the extremists, but what we want to build, if we had partners for that, actually helps create that momentum. So I would just say to Dr Ali's point that, I think that's a shared burden on all of us, and the more people that can use that language, it can actually, I think, help to create the spaces where things that feel not possible begin to maybe become possible. Manya Brachear Pashman:   Which in many ways Trump's 20 point plan does that. It doesn't just only talk about disarming Hamas. It talks about rebuilding Gaza. Are there other ways in which Israel can assure the success of the Palestinian people and push forwards. Can you envision other ways? Tal Becker:   Well, I mean, I'm sure there's lots that people can do, but there is a burden on the Palestinian people themselves, and I do find that a lot of this discourse kind of takes agency away from the Palestinian people and their leadership. In a way, there's a kind of honesty to the Trump plan and the Security Council resolution that was adopted endorsing the plan that has been missing for quite a while. The Trump plan, interestingly, says three things.  It says, on this issue of a kind of vision or pathway. It says, first of all, it basically says there is no Palestinian state today, which must have come as a bit of a shock for those countries recognizing a Palestinian state. But I think that is a common understanding. It's a little bit of an illusion to imagine that state.  The second thing is how critical it is for there to be PA reform, genuine reform so that there is a responsible function in Palestinian governing authority that can actually be focused on the welfare of its people and govern well.  And the third is that then creates a potential pathway for increasing Palestinian self-determination and moving potentially towards Palestinian statehood, I think, provided that that entity is not going to be used as a kind of terror state or a failed state. But that, I think, is a kind of honest way of framing the issue. But we don't get around Manya the need for responsibility, for agency. So yes, Israel has responsibility. Yes, the countries of the region have responsibilities.  But ultimately, the core constituency that needs to demonstrate that it is shifting its mindset and more focused on building itself up, rather than telling a story about how it is seeking to deny Jewish self determination, is the Palestinian leadership. And I do think that what's happening in Gaza at least gives the potential for that.  You have the potential for an alternative Palestinian governance to emerge. You have the potential for Hamas to be set back in a way that it no longer has a governing role or a shape in shaping the agenda. And I think if we can make Gaza gradually a success story, you know, this is a bit too optimistic for an Israeli to say, but maybe, maybe we can begin to create a momentum that can redefine the Israeli Palestinian relationship. Manya Brachear Pashman:   So I asked what can Israel do to move forward to assure the Palestinians that they are behind their success and thriving? What can Israel do to make sure that it's respected, that is not facing the challenges from the West, from that region. What can Israel do? What is Israel's obligation, or is that an unfair question, to ensure its success and its moving forward? Tal Becker:   I think it's a really difficult question, because the criticism that Israel has gotten throughout this war and the threats to its legitimacy in the way that they've erupted, I think, is a really complicated phenomena that has many moving parts. So some part of it, I think, rightly, is about Israeli policy and Israeli language and the way it has framed what it has been doing, and really the unbelievable moral dilemmas that the war in Gaza posed, and how Israel conducted itself in the way of those dilemmas. And people can have different views about that.  I think there's a misunderstanding, very significantly, of the nature of the battlefield and how impossible Hamas in its deliberate kind of weaponization of the civilian population, made that. So there's one component that has to do with Israel. There's another component that we can't ignore, that has to do with antisemitism. And that, I think, for that group right who almost define themselves through their hostility towards the Jewish people and towards the very idea of Jewish self determination, it's hard to think anything that Israel says or does that actually matters, right? These were the people who were criticizing Israel even before it responded.  And so in that sense, I think putting too much on Israel is a problem. Maybe I'll just focus on the area that I think is most interesting here, and that is, in my view, a lot of the argument about Israel in the West, we'll take the US, for example, is actually not an argument about Israel, but more an argument about the US that is channeled through Israel. In other words, a lot of people seem to be having their argument about America's story of itself channeled through their argument about Israel. And what they're actually arguing about is their vision of America.  And you can see different versions of this. There's a story of America as perhaps a kind of white Christian country that was exploited by immigrants and is exploited by other countries in the world, and that narrative kind of tends pushes you in a direction of having a certain view, in my view, mistaken, in any event, about Israel. That is more to do about your story of America than it has anything to do with what Israel is doing or saying. And then you hear this very loudly, and I'm not suggesting these are exactly even.  But on the more radical kind of progressive left, you have a story of America as essentially a country that never came over the legacy of slavery, a country that has to kind of apologize for its power, that it sees itself as a colonial entity that can't be redeemed. And when you're kind of locked in that version of America, which I kind of think is a kind of self hating story of America. Then that then projects the way you view Israel more than anything Israel says or does. So this has a lot to do with America's, and this is true of other countries in the West, that internal struggle and then the way different actors, especially in the social media age, need to position themselves on the Israel issue, to identify which tribe they belong to in this other battle.  So in my view, people who care about the US-Israel relationship, for example, would be wise to invest in this, in the battle over America's story of itself, and in that sense, it's less about Israeli public diplomacy and less about Israeli policy. It's much more about the glasses people wear when they look at Israel. And how do you influence those glasses? Manya Brachear Pashman:   I could sit here and talk to you all day, this is really fascinating and thought provoking. I do want to ask two more questions, though, and one is, I've been harping on what can Israel do? What are Israel's obligations?  But let me back up a step. What about the Arab states? What are the other neighbors in the region obligated to do to assure the Palestinians that they're going to succeed and thrive? Tal Becker:   Yeah, I mean, it's a really important question and, and I think that for many, many years, we suffered from, I would say, a basic lack of courage from Arab states. I'm generalizing, but I hope that others would advance their interests for them. And in some sense, I think the Abraham Accords really flipped that, because Abraham Accords was the Arab states having the courage and the voice to say, we need to redefine our relationship with with Israel, and in that way, create conditions, potentially for Palestinians to do, to do the same.  I would say that there are a whole set right, and, not my position to kind of be the lecturer, and each country is different in their own dynamics. I think the first from an Israeli perspective, of course, is to really push back against this attempt to delegitimize the Jewish people's belonging in the Middle East, and not to allow this kind of narrative where the only authentic way to be a Palestinian or a Muslim is to reject the idea that other peoples live in the region and have a story that connects them to it, and Israel is here to stay, and it can be a partner. You can have disagreements with it. But the idea that it's some kind of illegitimate entity, I think, needs to be taken out of the lexicon fundamentally. I think a second area is in really this expectation of Palestinian especially in the Israeli Palestinian context, of being partners in holding the Palestinians accountable not to have the kind of the soft bigotry of low expectations, and to really recognize Palestinian agency, Palestinian responsibility and also Palestinian rights, yes, but not in this kind of comic strip, victim villain narrative, where Israel has all the responsibilities and the Palestinians have all the rights. My colleague, Einat Wilf, for example, talks about Schrodinger's Palestine. You know, Schrodinger's Cat, right? So Schrodinger's Palestine is that the Palestinians are recognized for rights, but they're not recognized for responsibilities. And Israel has rights and responsibilities. And finally, I would say in terms of the the taking seriously the spoilers in the region, and working with Israel and with our partners to make sure that the spoilers in the region don't dictate the agenda and don't have the capacity to do so, not just hoping that that, you know, Israel and the US will take care of that, but really working with us. And I think a few countries are really stepping up in that regard. They have their own constraints, and we need to be respectful of that, and I understand that.  But I think that, you know, this is a strategic partnership. I sometimes joke that with the Emirates, it's a Jewish and a Muslim state, but it's a Catholic marriage. We've kind of decided to bind together in this kind of strategic partnership that has withstood these last two years, because we want to share a vision of the Middle East that is to the benefit of all peoples, and that means doing kind of three things at once. Meaning confronting the spoilers on the one hand, investing in regional integration on the other, and seeing how we can improve Israeli Palestinian relations at the same time. So working in parallel on all three issues and helping each other in the process and each other thrive. I mean, there's a whole bunch of stuff beyond the conflict. There's, you know, AI and fighting desertification and irrigation and defense tech and intelligence, and a whole host of areas where we can cooperate and empower each other and be genuine partners and strengthen our own societies and the welfare of our own peoples through that partnership for ourselves, for each other and for the region. So there's a lot to do. Manya Brachear Pashman:   And my last question – I've asked, what do the Arab states need to do? What does Israel need to do? What do Jewish advocates around the world need to do?  Tal Becker:   So I think the most important thing at this moment for me, Manya, is courage. There is a danger, because of the rise in antisemitism and the kind of hostility that one sees, that Jews in particular will become more silent. And they'll kind of hide a little bit in the hope that this will somehow pass them. And I think what our history has taught us, is generally, these are phenomena that if you don't stand up against them early, they become extremely powerful down the line, and you can't, and it becomes very, very costly to confront them.  So it takes courage, but I would say that communities can show more courage than individuals can, and in that sense, I think, you know, insisting on the rights of Jews within the societies in which they live, fighting for those kind of societies, that all peoples can prosper in. Being strong advocates for a kind of society in which Jews are able to thrive and be resilient and prosper, as well as others as well. I think is very important.  Just in a nutshell, I will say that it seems to me that in much of the world, what we're seeing is liberalism being kind of hijacked by a radical version of progressivism, and nationalism being hijacked by a version of ultra-nationalism. And for Jews and for most people, the best place to be is in liberal nationalism. Liberal nationalism offers you respect for collective identity on the one hand, but also respect for individual autonomy on the other right. That's the beautiful blend of liberal nationalism in that way, at least aspirationally, Israel, being a Jewish and democratic state, is really about, on the one hand, being part of a story bigger than yourself, but on the other hand, living a society that sees individual rights and individual agency and autonomy. And that blend is critical for human thriving and for meaning, and it's been critical for Jews as well. And so particularly across the diaspora, really fighting for liberal national identity, which is being assaulted from the extremes on both sides, seems to me to be an urgent mission. And it's urgent not just for Jews to be able not to kind of live conditionally and under fear and intimidation within the societies they live, but as we've seen throughout history, it's pretty critical for the thriving of that society itself.  At the end of the day, the societies that get cannibalized by extremes end up being societies that rot from within. And so I would say Jews need to be advocates for their own rights. Double down on Jewish identity, on resilience and on literacy, on Jewish literacy. At the same time as fighting for the kind of society in which the extremes don't shape the agenda. That would be my wish. Manya Brachear Pashman:   Making liberal nationalism an urgent mission for all societies, in other words, being a force for good. Tal Becker:   Yes, of course. Manya Brachear Pashman:   Our universal mission. Thank you so much. Thank you so much for sharing all of these thoughts with us and safe travels as you take off for the next destination. Tal día como hoy, pero el 23 de diciembre de 1945, el Club Atlético-Aviación acogió a un combinado nacional en el Estadio Metropolitano para jugar el partido de homenaje a Ramón Gabilondo. Gabilondo jugó, como centrocampista, 211 partidos oficiales con el Atleti entre 1934 y 1946. Llegó fichado del R. Valladolid, donde debutó en 1928 y con el Atleti ganó 2 títulos de Liga consecutivos, los de las temporadas 1939-40 y 1940-41. Se retiró en 1946 como futbolista para dedicarse al ejercicio de la medicina, siguiendo ligado a la Federación como médico de la Mutualidad de futbolistas y, sobre todo, como técnico, pues llegó a ser entrenador de la  selección juvenil y de la absoluta durante 1 año y 4 meses. De las cosas de las que más orgulloso se sentía fue descubrir a Collar y ser un gran amigo de Gárate. En la Copa, el Atleti superó el trance del primer cruce ante el Atlético Balear con una victoria por 2-3. Partido sin mucha historia, más allá de certificar que hay ciertos jugadores que no tienen nivel para el Atleti, que tenemos un gran portero suplente en Musso y que Griezmann parece que tras el corte de pelo ha recuperado el olfato de gol y, que en el Marca siguen haciendo titulares con juegos de palabras más que previsibles. Esta ronda también ha servido para que unos cuantos primeras se apeen de la competición, que el Barça lo pasase regular, como el Atleti y, que los ciervos volvieran a experimentar lo que es ganar gracias a “errores arbitrales” que el VAR no puede corregir, vamos, robando como han hecho toda la vida. El próximo rival lo conoceremos el día  7 de enero cuando se celebre el sorteo de la eliminatoria de octavos de final a las 13:00. En la competición nacional Liguera, en partido disputado el domingo en el Estadio municipal de Montilivi, el Atleti cerró el año futbolístico con una nueva victoria lejos de casa, por 0-3, en la que logró mantener la portería a cero gracias a ese fardo, para algunos, que es Jan Oblak. Golazo del capitán, Koke para abrir el marcador en el minuto 13. Gallagher que entró sustituyendo a Nico González por lesión, logró el segundo en el minuto 38 y, cerró el marcador en el descuento Antoine Griezmann, que desde que se ha cortado el pelo, lleva 3 partidos consecutivos anotando.  Tras esta jornada, el Barça termina como campeón de invierno con 46 puntos, seguido por el Mal con 42 y el Atleti 3º con 37 puntos, por delante del Villarreal con 35 y 2 partidos menos que todos los anteriores. La Liga volverá el domingo  4 de enero a las 21:00, cuando viajaremos a San Sebastián a enfrentarnos contra la Real y cerrar la jornada 19ª. Tras ese partido de Liga, el Atleti viajará rumbo a Oriente para disputar la semifinal de la Supercopa de España el día 8 de enero contra el Mal.   «A la entrada de la ciudad había cuatro leprosos, que se decían el uno al otro: «¿Para qué nos quedamos aquí, esperando la muerte?... Así que se levantaron» (2 Reyes 7:3-5, AMP) No importa cuán terrible sea el problema por el cual estás atravesando, ni cuán sumido te encuentres bajo las circunstancias, en 24 horas podrías superar esos inconvenientes. "¡Oh, hermano Copeland, eso sería imposible!" Eso mismo pensaron los samaritanos en 2 Reyes 7. Su tierra estaba siendo asolada por el hambre. Las tropas enemigas tenían sitiada la ciudad y habían cortado toda ruta de suministro. Las madres se comían a sus propios hijos para poder subsistir. Pero justo en medio de toda esa tragedia, el Señor le dijo al profeta Eliseo que en 24 horas todo cambiaría. La harina y la cebada se venderían por unos cuantos centavos y habría abundancia para todos. ¿De qué se valió Dios para cambiar la situación? ¡De cuatro leprosos! En lugar de sentir lástima de sí mismos y esperar hasta morirse, estos leprosos decidieron levantarse y arriesgarse en el campo enemigo. Cuando llegaron, lo encontraron abandonado. Los ángeles de Dios habían hecho que el ejército entero huyera, y en el campo había quedado suficiente alimento para toda la ciudad de Samaria. Algunas veces actuamos como lo hicieron los líderes samaritanos. Nos concentramos en el problema, en lugar de concentrarnos en la Palabra de Dios. Ponemos tanta atención a la voz del mundo que perdemos la visión de nuestra victoria. Cuando eso sucede, la fe y el poder comienzan a disminuir y la vida se nos derrumba a la derecha y a la izquierda. Si te ha pasado eso, deja de lamentarte, deja de fijarte en el problema y de sentir lástima de ti mismo. ¡Eso no cambiará nada! Tal como lo hizo con Eliseo, Dios te ha dado una palabra. Te ha prometido darte la victoria. Te ha prometido hacerte vencedor. No te quedes ahí sentado, esperando hasta que mueras. No aceptes la derrota. Levántate en fe. Mantente firme en la Palabra de Dios y pelea por tu vida. Enójate con Satanás y échalo fuera. Enójate con la enfermedad. Enfurécete con la pobreza, y empieza a ofrendar. ¡Levántate y recibe la liberación del Señor! Hoy recordamos que celebramos al Príncipe de Paz. Y esa paz no está debajo del árbol, ni en la temporada perfecta… está en Jesús. En este mensaje Ps. Eliud nos recuerda que José y María no vivían su mejor momento; estaban en crisis. Pero justo ahí, en medio del caos, Jesús estaba llegando. Tal vez tú también atraviesas algo difícil, pero la paz de Dios no es ausencia de problemas: es saber que Él tiene control aun cuando nada parece estable. Su paz supera tu situación, te fortalece y te recuerda que Jesús vino a salvarte.

Hay una pregunta que te hacen en las reuniones familiares, especialmente en estas fechas: "¿Cuál es tu mayor sueño?" Y tú... respondes con algo seguro. Algo que no va a hacer que te miren raro.Tal vez dijiste "viajar más" cuando en realidad sueñas con escribir una novela. O dijiste "tener estabilidad" cuando secretamente fantaseas con dejarlo todo e irte a vivir cerca del mar. O simplemente sonreíste y cambiaste de tema porque ese sueño que llevas dentro se siente demasiado grande, demasiado vulnerable, demasiado tuyo.Todos tenemos esa lista mental. Esos deseos que visitamos en silencio, que nos acompañan en las madrugadas o cuando miramos por la ventana. Sueños que nunca hemos dicho en voz alta porque... ¿y si se ríen? ¿Y si no es realista? ¿Y si al decirlo perdemos esa magia privada?En este episodio hablamos de esos sueños guardados. De por qué los mantenemos en secreto, qué nos dice la ciencia sobre el peso del silencio, y qué pasa cuando finalmente nos atrevemos a sacarlos a la luz. Porque Dios no bendice el desorden, pero sí responde con fidelidad a un corazón que se rinde.Tal vez el pasado estuvo lleno de intentos fallidos, cansancio o sequía, pero Dios es experto en comenzar nuevas etapas sin necesidad de borrar tu historia. Él la redime. Hoy puede ser ese “de hoy en adelante” donde tu fe deja de mirar atrás y aprende a esperar con confianza.

En este mensaje tratamos el caso de una mujer que «descargó su conciencia» en nuestro sitio www.conciencia.net. Lo hizo de manera anónima, como pedimos que se haga; así que, a pesar de que nunca se lo había contado a nadie, nos autorizó a que la citáramos, como sigue: «Yo tuve un novio a los quince años, con el cual tuve relaciones sexuales. Quedé embarazada varias veces, y aborté por insistencia de él. Él me hizo mucho daño y se burló de mí muchas veces.... »Yo me casé, y ya le perdoné a ese hombre que me hizo tanto daño. Pero él ahora me llama y dice querer ser mi amigo. Me dice que me ama todavía, aunque él está casado. Yo no quiero saber nada de él. Me escribe al correo, lo borro y bloqueo todo acceso de él a mí.... »Si... no quiero ser amiga de él ni que me llame, ¿es porque en realidad no lo he perdonado? ... No quisiera que mi falta de perdón, si así fuera, me afecte a mí y a mi familia...» Este es el consejo que le dimos: «Estimada amiga: »Como resultado de su deseo de hacer lo debido, usted ahora se siente confundida. Hay dos factores diferentes que, al parecer, se contradicen. Por una parte, usted quiere protegerse del dolor que ese hombre pudiera causarle: Él la hirió antes, y usted puede estar segura de que volvería a herirla. Ese impulso de protegerse es propio de personas que disfrutan de salud emocional, y es un instinto que proviene de Dios. Pero aún más fuerte que su deseo de protegerse es su necesidad de proteger a su familia. Eso es fruto del amor que usted les tiene. »El segundo factor, al parecer en conflicto con su necesidad de protegerse, es su convicción de que el perdón es necesario para la salud emocional. Usted ya ha optado por perdonar a ese hombre, y él ya no ejerce ningún dominio sobre usted ni sobre sus emociones. Usted no ha dejado que el pasado la convierta en una mujer amargada, resentida y vengativa, sino que ha formado una vida feliz. No tiene que dejar que él vuelva a formar parte de su vida para demostrar que de veras lo ha perdonado. »A los casados les aconsejamos que supriman el contacto personal con todas las personas con las que tuvieron relaciones serias en el pasado. Eso en definitiva incluye a cualquiera con quien la persona casada tuvo relaciones sexuales antes de casarse. El mantener esas relaciones puede ser muy peligroso para cualquier matrimonio. Es muy arriesgado creer que uno puede ser amigo de una persona de la que alguna vez estuvo enamorado, o con quien tuvo relaciones íntimas. »Es prudente de su parte impedir que ese hombre se comunique con usted por correo electrónico o por teléfono. Tal vez él se sienta culpable por la forma como la trató, y quiera aliviar su conciencia “siendo su amigo”, pero sólo Dios puede resolver asuntos de la conciencia. No es una pregunta de reproche, es una pregunta de amor.Porque cuando nosotros nos cansamos de esperar, de obedecer, de creer… Dios no se cansa de buscarnos.Tal vez te cansaste cuando la respuesta no llegó.O cuando el dolor fue más fuerte que la fe.O cuando servir dejó de sentirse liviano.Pero hoy Dios vuelve a hablarte y te pregunta al corazón:¿En qué momento te alejaste… si Yo nunca me fui?Hoy es un día para volver sin discursos, sin excusas, solo con el corazón abierto.

Tiene dos hijos en colegios [privados], y no le alcanza.... Necesita dinero para invertir en su negocio. Nos pide a mi esposo y a mí que le busquemos un crédito bancario, ya que a nosotros sí nos lo pueden otorgar. Nuestro temor es qué hacemos si [él] no puede pagarlo. No tiene nada en garantía. Además, sus hijos están acostumbrados a vivir cómodamente, y parte de este dinero con certeza será para pagar todos los lujos que ellos le exigen. »¿Qué hacemos, ya que es una fuerte cantidad? Aparte, tiene otras deudas. ¿Qué nos aconsejan? ¿Debemos dejarlo que se haga responsable de su mala administración, y sobre todo que sus hijos se conformen con lo que les pueda dar?» Este es el consejo que le dimos: «Estimada amiga: »¡Sí, ustedes deben insistir en que su familiar se haga responsable de sus propias decisiones y de sus propios hijos! Y, en definitiva, no deben endeudarse a fin de ayudarlo. »El sabio Salomón ofreció consejos en cuanto a prestarles dinero a otras personas. Más que nada, él recalcó que no debemos cobrarles intereses. Sin embargo, él enseñó que, cuando observemos una verdadera necesidad, debemos dar con liberalidad para ayudar a otros en lugar de prestarles dinero. »Pero en este caso el meollo del asunto es que ustedes tendrían que pedir prestado el dinero al banco a fin de dárselo a su familiar. Muchas veces Salomón aconsejó que no debemos pedir dinero prestado. En el libro de los Proverbios, a un hombre que ha salido fiador de su vecino, Salomón le aconseja que haga todo lo que esté a su alcance por escapar de esa situación.1 »Su familiar sin duda se enojará de que ustedes no soliciten un préstamo a fin de ayudarlo. Tal vez siga disgustado por muchos años. Sin embargo, si ustedes le prestaran dinero, lo más probable es que serían ustedes los más enojados si él no cumpliera con los pagos. Ustedes se indignarían cada vez que vieran a uno de los hijos de ese familiar con algo que consideran un lujo. Resentirían el hecho de que él no se hubiera esforzado más por pagarles lo que les debe. Su relación con él sufriría, y se sentirían incómodos cada vez que tuvieran que verlo. Es preferible dejar que él se enoje ahora y evitar todas las repercusiones emocionales por prestarle dinero. »Los que son imprudentes en el manejo del dinero no cambiarán sino hasta que se hagan responsables de sus propias decisiones. Por lo general, le echan la culpa a la mala suerte o a otras personas....
