Sunday, March 16, 2025 – We’re still studying 1 John 2:15-17, and the title of our message today is: “Living in but Not Loving the World.” There are many things in life that we can control and many more that we cannot. We have no say in the nature or condition of the “world” we inhabit. For this reason, we must understand the definition of the word “world. " The Bible uses this word from two different perspectives. The first definition of “world” refers to the created world described in Genesis 1. God created the world and everything in it and was pleased with it, indicating that it was perfect and given to mankind to steward and rule over. However, Satan’s temptation to rebel against God led Adam and Eve to exchange their domain and rulership of the world for a bite of fruit taken in rebellion. Thus, mankind relinquished the rulership of the perfect created world to Satan, marking the beginning of the second definition of the word: the “Kosmos World,” which represents the organizational system of the fallen subset of the created world. Since then, Satan has actively twisted and distorted everything about the perfect “Created World” into an evil-inspired “Kosmos World System” in which we live. This is the chaos we experience in our world system today. This is the world that we are warned not to love in our text today. Worship and study with us as we learn about the three main temptations in this “Kosmos World,” identified as the “Lust of the Flesh, " the “Lust of the Eyes,” and the “Pride of Life.”

# Summary This presentation explores the concept of the "pride of life" as one of the three main channels through which sin and evil enter the world, as discussed in 1 John 2:15-17. The presenter, Stan Isbell, delves into the biblical perspective on pride, drawing insights from passages in Genesis, Matthew, Romans, and Philippians to highlight the dangers of pride and the importance of humility. # Highlights
An episode from Liberty Behind Bars Ministry, a ministry serving the incarcerated across America located in Belfast, New York. The Scriptures : We believe that “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,” 2nd Timothy 3:16 by which we understand that the whole Bible “came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.” 2nd Peter 1:21. The Scriptures, originally recorded by Spirit led men, have been faithfully translated and preserved in our English Language. We believe the Authorized Version (A.V. 1611) is infallible and selfless: our final authority for all matters of faith and practice. Christ's Advent: We believe that the eternal Son of God came into this world that He might manifest God to men, fulfill prophecy, and become the Redeemer of a lost world. He was born of a virgin, conceived by the Holy Ghost, received a human body, and a sinless nature. Salvation: We believe that, owing to death through sin, no one can enter the Kingdom of God unless born again. This redemption has been accomplished solely by the blood of our Lord Jesus Christ, who was made to be sin, dying in our stead, and that He was bodily and physically raised from the dead for our justification. We believe that the new birth of the believer is an act of the Holy Ghost and comes only through individual faith in Christ. The Church: We believe that God has ordained that through the local church the Gospel of Jesus Christ is to be spread and that it is the duty of everyone who is born again to seek out a local fellowship for the furtherance of the Gospel and his own edification. I spent half of my life in and out of jails, prisons, rehabs, and other facilities. Unfortunately, the programs that were offered did not help me to become a productive member of society, it just made me a better inmate. What changed me, was a new life in Jesus Christ and reading/studying a King James Bible. Many prisons, jails, and other institutions have heard from many of their inmates that they are changed due to religion. However, most are seen back within the next year or two. As God gave Moses a burden for the Children of Israel, so God gave me a burden for those in jails and prisons. Churches send missionaries to foreign countries, in support, hopes and prayers, they can win the nationals to Jesus, train them and then send the nationals back to their own people. This is what Jesus has done for me. He saved me out of this life of crimes and addiction, and now sends me back to my people who are in jails/prisons, to win them to Christ and send them back to their own people This is where Liberty Behind Bars Ministry steps in. Not only do we minister to those behind the jail walls we help them transition into society; differently than they did in the past. The goal is to break the cycle of recidicism and help people have a changed life in Jesus Christ. I have my Doctorate in Christian Biblical Counseling and use this knowledge to not only help those within the jail/prison walls, but also to support their family members. In the world today, what feels good has become a god. And the immediate access to global, national, and personal news doesn’t do anyone’s soul any favors. So, what’s stealing God’s peace from your life, and how can you get it back?

In the final chapter of Samuel, the author cues us into a not-so-happy ending in which David's pride is on full display. Executive Minister Eric Carter urges the church to consider what the tension of this text might mean for our own pride and insecurity. How can you trust God to have the ultimate power and will in your life?

Message: Drake Holderman, Missional Impact MinisterPassage: 2 Samuel 24Series: A Man After God's Own Heart
Today's message might possibly be the most important message I could ever share with Christian men. Proverbs 16:5 says, "The Lord detests all the proud of heart. Be sure of this: they will not go unpunished." Think about those words. Then James 4:6 tells us, "God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble." The Greek word for opposed there means "to be at war with." Now who in the world wants to be at war with God? There are two types of pride. The first is what you would call good, like taking pride in your work and striving for excellence in your life. The Bible is talking about the second type of pride, which is arrogance. We can easily see arrogance in the lives of others, but it's so difficult to spot it in our own lives. I have to stop, step back and ask myself, could this be true in my life? Tim Keller says that pride is the carbon monoxide of sin. Pride silently and slowly kills you without you even knowing it. If arrogant pride is the utmost evil, and yet we have a hard time seeing it in our own lives, should this concern us? I think the answer is yes. I'd like to share several good applications that you can apply to your own life, starting today. I believe we should be praying every day, "Lord, show me the pride in my life. Help me to see it. Help me to see what is true of my own heart."

This verse is from 1 John 2: 15-17. The battle for the human heart that began at the fall of man, is accelerating, we can sense it, almost smell it in the air we breath. The world that we grew up in, while not perfect, at least gave those of us fortunate enough to have been born in the United States, the freedom to breath and to choose good or evil for the most part. The air of freedom is being snuffed out, and many do not seem to notice. This battle begins and ends at the level of the human heart, your heart and my heart. What does it take to turn this situation around? In answering this question tow fundamental truths should be kept in mind: first, that man, men and women, are called to live in truth and love; and second, that everyone finds fulfillment through the sincere gift of self. Today on Every Last Word: Pride is self-serving. It has a long history of inflicting pain on others, and thereby, bringing about the destruction of many relationships. Unfortunately, it is one of the most subtle, and negative dispositions the human heart produces. To support this ministry financially, visit: https://www.oneplace.com/donate/581/29

“Philogyny is fondness, love, or admiration towards women.[1][2] Its antonym is misogyny. Philogyny comes from philo- (loving) and Greek gynē (woman). The parallel Greek-based terms with respect to men (males) are philandry for "fondness towards men" and misandry for "hatred of men". Parallel terms for humanity generally are philanthropy and misanthropy.” --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/antonio-myers4/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/antonio-myers4/support
