While I usually reserve guest interviews for the Recover Your Soul Bonus Podcast, today's conversation is one I felt called to bring to all of you here on the main show.I'm honored to welcome Michael Mirdad, a Spiritual Teacher, Healer, Mystic, and Best-Selling Author. Michael has spent more than four decades helping people heal, awaken, and deepen their connection to God, blending wisdom from Christianity, Buddhism, A Course in Miracles, and recovery in a way that is both profound and deeply practical. In this conversation, he shares a powerful perspective on addiction, recovery, and healing, reminding us that beneath many of our struggles is a longing to reconnect with our true nature and remember the wholeness that has always existed within us.Together we explore addiction as a spiritual issue rather than a moral failing, the relationship between recovery and awakening, the role of compassion and self-forgiveness, and how spiritual connection can help us heal the sense of separation that so many of us carry.Whether you are in recovery yourself, love someone who struggles with addiction, or are simply walking a path of healing and spiritual growth, I believe you'll find wisdom, hope, and encouragement in this conversation.Michael serves as the Spiritual Leader of the Global Center for Christ Consciousness in Sedona, Arizona, where he offers weekly teachings, workshops, retreats, and healing programs dedicated to spiritual awakening and personal transformation. Have you ever noticed that even when things are going well, there can still be a part of you looking for what's missing, what's not working, or what needs to change before you can finally feel at peace? In this episode of Recover Your Soul, I share a teaching from Pema Chödrön's book How We Live Is How We Die that has stayed with me for weeks: the propensity for discontent. The phrase struck me because I could see how often many of us move through life carrying an unconscious habit of looking for what's wrong. We think that if we could just fix the relationship, heal the wound, change the circumstance, or get to the next goal, then we would finally be okay. But what if peace isn't waiting on the other side of everything changing? What if the invitation is to become aware of the lens through which we're already seeing our lives? In this conversation, I explore the Buddhist teaching of the kleshas: attachment, resistance, and delusion. These are the habitual ways we become disconnected from our peace and our true nature. As I share in the Recover Your Soul process, these patterns often show up as our unconscious beliefs, stories, fears, judgments, and attempts to control life around us.Together we'll look at how attachment keeps us grasping for things to be different, how resistance keeps us fighting reality, and how delusion can keep us trapped in old stories and misunderstandings that prevent us from seeing ourselves and our lives clearly. This isn't about pretending everything is fine or pushing away difficult feelings. It's about learning to be present with what is, while bringing more awareness, compassion, and curiosity to the patterns that create suffering. The beautiful gift of this work is that the very places where we get stuck can become doorways to wisdom, healing, and awakening. In This Episode:What Pema Chödrön means by "the propensity for discontent"How the habit of looking for what's wrong affects our happinessUnderstanding the three kleshas: attachment, resistance, and delusionThe connection between Buddhist wisdom and the Recover Your Soul processHow our patterns, beliefs, and stories shape our experience of lifeLearning to witness difficult emotions without judging ourselvesWhy awareness is the first step toward healing and transformationHow to find greater peace in the present moment, even when life isn't perfectMy hope is that this episode helps you become a little more aware of the ways you may be searching for what's missing and instead begin noticing what is already here. We are all learning together how to release old patterns, soften our judgments, and reconnect with the wholeness that has always existed within us.As always, thank you for being part of the Recover Your Soul Community. We want everyone to be okay, and somewhere along the way we learned that keeping the peace often meant abandoning ourselves. But there comes a moment on this journey where something inside says… this doesn't feel right anymore. In this episode, we continue the conversation around helping versus enabling and move into the sacred work of boundaries. Not boundaries as punishment or control, but boundaries as clarity, self-respect, and learning how to come home to yourself.Through the Recover Your Soul process, we begin to recognize the patterns and beliefs that taught us we were responsible for everyone else's feelings. We start learning how to trust our own inner knowing, stop overexplaining ourselves, and make choices that align with who we are becoming.Choosing yourself is not selfish. It's sacred, and so is setting healthy boundaries. This work can feel uncomfortable, especially when old relationships and patterns push back. But there is also freedom and peace that comes when you stop abandoning yourself in order to keep everyone else comfortable. You are allowed to have needs. You are allowed to say no.You are allowed to choose yourself with love.Together, we can do the work that will Recover Your Soul.Send a one way text to Rev Rachel

Mother's Day can bring up so many emotions. For some, it's a beautiful day filled with love and connection. And for many others, it can be layered with grief, disappointment, longing, resentment, confusion, or the ache of not having received what was needed. In this episode, we explore the healing of mother wounds through the lens of the Recover Your Soul process. Not to stay stuck in blame or victimhood, but to create space to honestly acknowledge what was felt, what was missing, and how those early experiences shaped the patterns, beliefs, and stories we still carry today. So often we dismiss our own feelings by saying, “They did the best they could.” And while that may be true, healing also asks us to allow ourselves to recognize the impact those experiences had on us emotionally, spiritually, and even within our nervous systems. This conversation is also about forgiving ourselves. As mothers, so many of us carry guilt, shame, regret, and the fear that we somehow got it wrong. We wanted to do better. We wanted to love well. And yet we are human beings carrying our own wounds, patterns, and limitations while trying to raise children in a complicated world.Healing begins when we allow ourselves to stop carrying the blame. This is an invitation to witness yourself with compassion, to honor the truth of your experience, and to begin releasing the weight you were never meant to carry forever.Your healing matters.Your forgiveness matters. And the love you learn to offer yourself has the power to change everytSend a one way text to Rev Rachel

It can be such a fine line between helping and enabling, between supporting someone we love and trying to save them. When you're in it, it's hard to see clearly. You feel their pain, and everything in you wants to make it better. In this episode, I share from my own experience and from the Recover Your Soul process about what it really means to love someone without trying to fix them. This isn't about finding the “right” answer, because every relationship and every situation is unique. It's about turning inward and beginning to recognize when we are acting from fear and discomfort, and when we are responding from a more grounded, soulful place. So often, our desire to help comes from not wanting to feel the pain of watching someone struggle. But what if peace doesn't come from changing them? What if it comes from acceptance? As we shift from saving to supporting, we begin to let go of control and trust that each soul is on its own journey. We can still love deeply, still be present, but from a place of clarity, compassion, and healthier boundaries. If you're feeling overwhelmed or unsure of how to show up for someone you love, you are not alone. This is the work, and there is another way.Remember, this isn't about fixing yourself. It's about recovering the wholeness that has always been within you.Send a one way text to Rev Rachel

What happens when the Jesus Freak generation grows up and looks at the state of modern Christianity? Mike Erre and Tim Stafford dive into the messy intersection of faith, politics, and ancient cosmology in this wide-ranging conversation. From the fallout of 90s Christian celebrity culture to the current consumerism surrounding religious holidays, this episode explores why so many are feeling disillusioned with the modern church. The discussion moves into a deep critique of religious rhetoric within the American government and the recent America Reads the Bible event. Mike and Tim ask the hard questions: How do we remain invitational and hopeful amidst cultural carnage? How do we distinguish between the eternal truths of scripture and the cultural husks used to deliver them?A significant portion of this episode is dedicated to a listener question about the Lord's Prayer. By diving back into Genesis 1 and ancient Hebrew cosmology, Mike explains the concept of the Rakia, the waters above and below, and what it truly means to pray for God's will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. This deep dive into the highest heavens versus the atmospheric heavens provides a fresh perspective on God's status and presence in our world today. If you're interested in scheduling Spiritual Coaching sessions with Tim, email: tim at voxpodcast dot com, with COACHING in the subject line :) Chapters:0:00 Intro and Neighborhood Banter3:12 DC Talk and the Jesus Freak Legacy8:15 Consumerism and Easter Productions13:40 Religious Language in Modern Politics19:25 The Government and Resurrection Sunday26:10 The Vatican and US Political Responses32:45 America Reads the Bible Movement38:20 Staying Invitational Amidst Deconstruction45:15 Peacemaking and Reintegrating the Deceived50:40 Announcement Tim Stafford Spiritual Coaching54:20 Your Will Be Done on Earth59:35 Ancient Cosmology and the Rakia1:04:50 The Waters Above and the Highest Heavens1:09:10 Divine Revelation vs Cultural Husks1:12:45 Conclusion and OutroAs always, we encourage and would love discussion as we pursue.
