Ben Simmons, seeking a trade from the 76ers, is threatening not to report to training camp. Joel Embiid is tweeting about it. Other teams are trying to entice Daryl Morey with their not-so-great offers. How did Philadelphia get here?Dan Feldman and Noah Levick of NBC Sports Philadelphia discuss Doc Rivers' infamous comment about Simmons, the Simmons-Embiid dynamic and of course Simmons trade talk:
The Philadelphia Sixers had a terrible night against the New Orleans Pelicans. Zion Williamson was able to do whatever he wanted to on the floor, dropping 37 points. Ben Simmons was useless and Joel Embiid had a weak night which is very uncommon for him this season. Seth Curry didn't make 1 shot and Tobias Harris wasn't efficient from the floor. The Philadelphia Sixers found out late that Ben Simmons was going to be a scratch when they were already missing Joel Embiid and Seth Curry. Luckily, the Sacramento Kings have no clue what defense is so the 76ers were able to cruise with ease. Tobias Harris, Shake Milton, Danny Green exploded and others contributed important roles as well. Stack wins while the big dogs are out! Check out my sponsors! The Philadelphia Sixers started off the 2nd half of the NBA season by smoking the Chicago Bulls without Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid. Matisse Thybulle, Tony Bradley, Dwight Howard, Furkan Korkmaz, and the rest of the gang had some good nights. Bulls looked like they were still on break. Check out my sponsors! Ronan & Chris put their two cents in on whether or not Joel Embiid & Ben Simmons are an elite duo. We take a look at the MVP race at the half way point of the season and we also explore potential trades for Raptors guard, Kyle Lowry. Our GDPR privacy policy was updated on August 8, 2022. DISCLAIMER: THIS WAS RECORDED BEFORE THE NEWS BROKE ABOUT SETH CURRY TESTING POSITIVE. The Philadelphia Sixers lose to the Brooklyn Nets and it wasn't even close. Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons both had quiet nights. Tyrese Maxey and Shake Milton showed up. The defense from the team sure didn't though as Joe Harris and Caris Levert went off. The Sixers turned the ball over 20 times leading to 35 points for the Nets. Without Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, I expected more from the 76ers. Check out my sponsors!
On today's episode, Jason is joined by FS1 NBA analyst and FOX Sports Radio host Chris Broussard as the two give a full preview of the first round of the NBA Playoffs. The guys explain why they've both been so impressed by the job Adam Silver has done to ensure that Orlando Bubble has been both safe and entertaining, and share their thoughts on who they think deserved to be on the All-NBA Bubble First Team. The guys also tell us why they're both picking LeBron James and the Lakers to make quick work of Damian Lillard and the Trail Blazers in round 1, explain why Russell Westbrook's quad injury could ultimately be what sends the Houston Rockets home early, discuss why Ben Simmons' absence is likely to lead to the Philadelphia Sixers getting beat by the Boston Celtics (and possibly the breakup of the Simmons-Embiid pairing altogether), explain why the Denver Nuggets and the Los Angeles Clippers have much more in common than you might think, and much more! The guys discuss the possible lowest point for the Sixers in years. We discussed in depth some of the medical possibilities and outcomes for their injuries based on what we know so far. The guys also get into some interesting NFL story lines like Tom Brady and Tua's Rise.
-Does Tom Brady have the right mindset for a 42-year-old QB? (00:32) -Would it be the right move for Mahomes’ agent to let him play without a new deal? (12:46) -Will Andre Iguodala have an impact in Miami? (21:44) -Do you think Antonio Brown’s apology to the Steelers was sincere? (35:07) -Is it fair to ask about Kobe’s past right now? (42:21) -Is the Simmons-Embiid combo the smartest way for the 76ers to win? (54:46) -Could Tom Brady win a Super Bowl with another team? (59:11)
The Philadelphia Sixers have two players representing the franchise in the NBA All-Star Game. Joel Embiid will be starter and Ben Simmons is listed as a reserve. Matisse Thybulle did not make the Rising Stars Game! Did he get snubbed? I understand both sides of it. Also, the NBA decided to change the entire rules and I think it is awful!
Michael returns to chat with fellow NBAsian Ariel about the biggest stories halfway through an exciting season. Ja Morant is dunking (or attempting to) on everyone in the NBA! No one believes in the Bucks but everyone think they will make the finals? We debate Simmons/Embiid, talk the last hurrah of Chris Paul, and discuss what moves the Clippers can make without starting a riot in their locker room. All this and Michael gives his take on the all-stars. Is there a Brandon Ingram nod coming? Does he agree with Ariel’s Spencer Dinwiddie votes? Tune in to find out...then rate and review us!
Carmelo Anthony, Spencer Hawes, and Joe Johnson were all names associated with the Sixers this week. We discuss the hilarity of all of them, potential Sixers non-starting lineups, and whether attractiveness has an inverse relationship to basketball skill. Then Connor Barwin joins us to discuss Thursday’s Make The World Better Foundation concert with Future Island, Strand of Oaks and Hop Along, the potential end of his career, why he’s settled into being a Philadelphian, and Elton Brand, Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid. Tickets are available for the 5th Annual MTWB Foundation concert here. Live Ricky IV: Cashed Out with Mike Scott is on sale HERE. You can skip Ticketmaster fees by buying them at the Franklin Music Hall box office.
We lament the missed opportunity of the Game 4 and the debacle of Game 5, what to do about Ben Simmons, Joel's health, Brett Brown, NOT the biggest issue here. Kawhi is playing better then everyone except maybe Durant this post season. Also we break the chains and ride full speed into a Game of Thrones recap Wolf of Broad Street becomes the Dire Wolf in this entertaining Dual threat of a Pod!
The guys discuss LeBron passing MJ on the scoring list, and whether or not missing the playoffs this season will hurt his legacy, whether or not the Simmons/Embiid pairing can work long-term. Then they discuss their favorite teams that nobody talks about.
On this December 6th edition of The BroadCast, NBA.com and NBA on TNT reporter David Aldridge speaks with Sixers.com's Brian Seltzer about a recent profile he wrote on the Sixers, and the club's upcoming December 7th TNT appearance against the Los Angeles Lakers.
