The Nats snapped their three game skid with a 4-2 victory on Thursday night at the Phillies. Mark (From Philadelphia) & Al open with the eventful top of the 6th where Washington scored all of their runs. Luis Garcia Jr. not only had a RBI single, but also stole home on a double steal for the final insurance run.(08:10) Keibert Ruiz knocked in Nathaniel Lowe on what was ruled a three base error by Bryce Harper, but should it have been scored as a triple?(12:45) Brad Lord lasted five innings and recorded his first Big League "W". The timing is rather interesting as his rotation spot is at stake if Michael Soroka returns from the IL in the near future.(18:45) The bullpen came through for Lord as three relievers combined for four scoreless frames. Jose A. Ferrer tossed two innings, Jorge Lopez pitched the 8th, and Kyle Finnegan bounced back with his 10th save of the season, the 2nd most in the NL.(25:00) The Nationals made their first bullpen transaction post Opening Day as they signed veteran Andrew Chafin and DFA'd Colin Poche. Chafin has been in the majors since 2014 and has a career ERA of 3.42. The lefty pitched well for AAA-Toledo last month before signing a major league deal with the Nats.(30:00) The road trip moves this weekend to Cincinnati for a three game set. Mitchell Parker will start the opener on Friday night vs. Hunter Greene. The Reds are 17-15 overall and are in 2nd place in their division.
The Phillies faced off against the Nationals last night in an exciting matchup. For most of the game, the Phillies were in the lead, but in the 9th inning, the Nationals took a 6-5 advantage. However, the Phillies scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 9th, sealing the game with a walk-off win. They will meet the Nationals again today at 6:45 PM. With the draft now behind us, what are the sentiments regarding this Eagles team? Are we looking forward to the upcoming season? Do we believe the Eagles have accomplished enough, or is there more to be done before the new year begins?

Welcome to Episode 37 of the I'm an Artist, Not a Salesman Podcast, hosted by Luis Guzman. In this raw and inspiring episode, we sit down with Christo, the owner and creator of Christo's Wake & Steak in Bloomfield, New Jersey. He's known for making what many call the best cheesesteaks in the state—but his story runs way deeper than just killer sandwiches.Christo's path is built on passion, grit, and old-school values. He started working in a pizzeria at thirteen, learned the game the hard way, and saved every penny for years. From working alongside his brother to running a nonprofit clinic, to finally firing up the grill at Wake & Steak, Christo's journey is all heart and hustle. This episode digs into what makes Wake & Steak different—tight hours, a small menu, and insane attention to detail. It's a full-on rebellion against fast-food shortcuts, built on pride and precision. Christo's not trying to be everything to everyone—he's just trying to do things right. We talk about launching a small business without big money or marketing teams, the nerves of opening day, and how social media unexpectedly helped Wake & Steak explode. Christo shares his philosophy on treating every customer like family, the power of quality over quantity, and why showing up with consistency is everything.Luis and Christo also chop it up about what it means to be an artist in the business world. For Christo, his food is his art—and not everyone's going to get it. That's fine by him. He doesn't do pizza steaks. He won't cut corners to please a crowd. His story is a reminder that real success comes from staying true to your vision, even when it's scary. We also get into the grind: working multiple jobs, saving with intention, pushing through setbacks (including the pandemic), and never quitting—even when it felt like no one was watching. Christo drops his “tree analogy” for growth—how you grow as tall as you're meant to grow, and you weather every storm that comes your way. It's gold.If you're a food entrepreneur, creative, or just someone stuck at the starting line of your dream, this episode is a wake-up call. It's a gut-level look at the risks, sacrifices, and joy that come from betting on yourself. It's also a celebration of what happens when you pick passion over popularity and integrity over shortcuts.Christo's Wake & Steak is at 1290 Broad Street in Bloomfield, NJ. They're open 7AM to 3PM—or until they sell out (which they often do). The menu is simple but deadly: the OG cheesesteak with Cheese Whiz, the “new school” with Cooper Sharp, and the North Shore beef that disappears almost instantly. Everything's made fresh, by hand, and with serious care.If you've ever doubted food can be art, Christo's about to prove you wrong. And if you've ever questioned whether your dream is worth the risk—this one's for you.Make sure to subscribe to the I'm an Artist, Not a Salesman Podcast for more real talk with artists, creatives, and entrepreneurs who are building lives they believe in—without selling out. New episodes every week on YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and wherever you listen. If this episode fired you up, leave a comment, share it with someone who needs the boost, and hit that subscribe button.Follow Christo's Wake & Steak on Instagram for food shots, behind-the-scenes chaos, and sell-out alerts. Pro tip: show up early.Because yeah—passion, hustle, and a little bit of crazy still make the best stories.

Tomorrow signals the start of the 2025 NFL Draft. All attention will focus on the Eagles as we eagerly anticipate their strategy for this draft. Some speculate that the Eagles may try to trade up, using their picks and possibly Dallas Goedert, while others believe they will stay at the 32nd pick or even trade down. In other news, the Phillies were defeated by the Mets last night, with a final score of 5-1. Sanchez exited the game after throwing 58 pitches over 2 innings. The Phillies' offense requires major improvements.

Only two days remain until the NFL Draft! There's uncertainty about the Eagles' strategy at the 32nd pick. Will they trade their picks for a player, or consider moving up in the draft? Alternatively, could they choose to move back and gain additional picks from a team eager to draft in the first round? In baseball, the Phillies fell to the Mets last night, finishing 4-5. Aaron Nola remains without a victory at the start of the season.
Today marks the official beginning of DRAFT WEEK! The NFL Draft is just a few days away, and there's much to cover. What strategy do the Eagles have for the first round, particularly regarding tight end concerns? Are there plans for a trade involving Dallas Goedert? Will the Eagles decide to move up or back in the draft? Meanwhile, the Phillies lost a lead to the Marlins yesterday on Easter, ending the game 7-5. Could Jordan Romano be an issue?

PALM BEACH, Fla. — Howie Roseman spoke Monday about the team's decision to move on from C.J. Gardner-Johnson, re-sign Zack Baun, extend Saquon Barkley and let Dallas Goedert twist in the wind. Find out why he thinks this offseason makes sense as the team hopes to set the pieces up for a third trip down Broad Street. Plus, momentum seems to be gaining for the league to ban the Tush Push, which would probably cement the Eagles' legacy as a team so good the league changed the rules on them. When COVID-19 became a global pandemic five years ago, Dr. Ala Stanford stepped up to help Philadelphians get access to information, testing, care, and later, vaccines. She founded the Black Doctors Consortium, and after her work gained national media attention, then-President Biden appointed her Regional Director of the US Department of Health and Human Services. Last summer, Dr. Stanford published a book, “Take Care of Them Like My Own”. It's about her personal journey, her work, and the importance of equity and representation in medicine. She talks about all of that with our host, Racquel Williams. This interview originally aired July 27, 2024. Then, on a new Shara in the City, we're talking to family and friends of Philly's real life Rocky Balboa, Joe Frazier. Shara Dae Howard heads out to North Philly, where Frazier's gym is sitting in disrepair on Broad Street and the community is fighting to save it. It's been a little more than a month since the Philadelphia Eagles smashed the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 59. While the Eagles' front office has been forced to move on from the victory rather quickly due to a flurry of offseason activity, the afterglow from the team's second championship run still remains strong. A recent live taping of unCovering the Birds between The Philadelphia Inquirer's Jeff McLane and Eagles Radio Network analyst Mike Quick demonstrated as much. At FitlerClub in Center City, the duo discussed plenty of topical items, from recent free agency developments to new coaching hires, but also put key storylines from the Eagles' 2024 title run into perspective: Where does Jalen Hurts belong in conversations about elite NFL quarterbacks? How has Nick Sirianni become so effective at his job in such a relatively short period of time? And what makes Saquon Barkley one of Mike's favorite all-time Eagles? Plus, Jeff and Mike take questions from the audience. Listen to hear great stories from the Eagles' historic season, and find out if Jeff and Mike think the team is capable of bringing another parade to Broad Street next year. 05:16 Reaction to recent free agency developments 19:17 How Nick Sirianni is evolving and maturing as an NFL head coach 24:22 Is there any reason why Jalen Hurts should not be considered an elite NFL quarterback? 27:22 Kevin Patullo has never called plays in the NFL; should we be concerned? 33:12 Why Saquon Barkley instantly became one of Mike's favorite Eagles 46:19 Rapid fire 52:00 Jeff's big reveal to Mike, audience Q&A unCovering the Birds is a production of The Philadelphia Inquirer and KYW Newsradio Original Podcasts. The Philadelphia Eagles are Super Bowl Champions. Again. As this 2024 edition parties on, I figured it was a grand time to catch up with a legend from the 2017 team that had the entire city celebrating on Broad Street.Of course, tight end Trey Burton was the man who threw the “Philly Special” touchdown to quarterback Nick Foles in Super Bowl LII against the New England Patriots. We explore this iconic moment in full detail — and everything that led up to it. A jack of all trades at Florida, Burton originally latched on as an undrafted free agent with the Birds. A few tough-love words from special teams coordinator Dave Fipp jumpstarted his career and he clawed his way to that title game in Minneapolis by Year 4. What was possibly going through his mind as the play call came in? How did it change his life? Burton has much to share. You better believe the Eagles were careful not to practice this play within range of Bill Belichick binoculars ahead of that game, too.Burton inked a big deal with the Chicago Bears in the wake of his shining moment, before then playing for Frank Reich and Nick Sirianni in Indianapolis. He's got many Nick Foles and Sirianni tales to share. The coach we see screaming on the sideline? That's who Sirianni has been his entire life. You can access the full episode here at Go Long, as well as on Apple, Spotify and YouTube. Terrill Haigler, a former Philadelphia sanitation worker, rose to local fame through his Instagram @_yafavtrashman, where he's been raising awareness about illegal dumping. Between hauling gigs, fundraising, and a grant, he was recently able to buy a truck of his own and hire returning citizens to help him clean up the city's streets. He tells Racquel Williams about growing both his charitable work and his business, and his goal of picking up 500 tons of trash in 2025.
