From “fake news” to the lack of diversity in the media, the creative community is hungry for more authenticity and inclusivity. An analysis of Storyblocks data indicates that creatives may be taking matters into their own hands by developing independent media sources—forcing mainstream media to follow suit or fall by the wayside. Media trends in film and social media indicate that creatives are using more content that accurately depicts the people around us and the world we live in. As digital media makes the world a smaller place, our creative community is searching for video, audio, and images representative of cultures from varying communities around the world. Creatives are also increasingly searching for templates and audio to aid them in reporting on the news on their own terms. Podcast and YouTube personalities source their templates and audio so they can focus more on reporting the facts. Editing programs like After Effects and Apple Motion come with steep learning curves, but the curves are diminished by customizable templates. Storyblocks has also seen an increase in the number of searches for various templates that help creators save time and meet the demand for more video content. I catchup with TJ Leonard as we dissect the 2019 creative trends report on my Daily Tech Podcast

Whiskey & Cigarettes Interview W/TJ Leonard by DJ Nik
Storyblocks’ CEO, TJ Leonard revealed insights that indicate a shift in attitudes from the 64M searches and 38M downloads across their sites in the last year (365 days). The results suggest that creators are increasingly globally aware and are unwittingly creating a strong increase in demand for diverse and global content. The data shows that there’s an increasing desire for representation (“LGBT” +782%, “diverse” +27%, and “woman” +21%) as well as for authentic, relatable subjects. ( “candid street photography” +162%, “authentic” +134%, and “real people” +58%). Trends reflect changes in our day-to-day life. There is a need for authentic and real imagery, steering away from the cliches and unachievable aspirations that advertising previously focused on. People want to see people they can relate to. As our society becomes more openly diverse, content creators need to represent these communities.
Videoblocks is now bringing content libraries together under a new brand called Storyblocks, to Make Room for Millions of Photos in a new image marketplace. With this launch, the artist-friendly Storyblocks offers even more to the creative community. Members save 60% on millions of new photos, vectors, and icons while contributors receive 100% commission. As part of the rebrand, the company has moved its former sub-brand, GraphicStock, completely under the new Storyblocks identity, but will maintain its video and audio sites as Videoblocks by Storybocks (videoblocks.com) and Audioblocks by Storyblocks (audioblocks.com). The company is building on the evolution of its brand and responding to the high demand for photos, which make up 70 percent of the stock media industry, the new image Marketplace from Storyblocks is home to millions of photos, vectors and icons. This addition follows the success of its video Marketplace, which has already paid out over $6 million to artists. The new image Marketplace continues the unprecedented 100 percent commission to contributors and cements the company’s position as the most artist-friendly and affordable stock media offering in the industry. For us, introducing Storyblocks and the image Marketplace were the next logical steps on our journey to becoming first and last place creatives go when working on a project. TJ Leonard, Storyblocks’ CEO. He also went on to say how the new Storyblocks brand captures their vision of bringing their libraries together into a more unified experience, allowing their members to find the right content quickly, without having to blow their budget or sacrifice quality.
VB Engage - Mobile, Marketing, & Technology Podcast from VentureBeat
This week, Travis and Stewart interview TJ Leonard on why video content is so engaging, and what marketers can do to leverage the opportunity. In the news segment, they discuss what Apple's WWDC event means for marketers, why the Homepod might not be the most attractive smart speaker option, and what it will mean if we block all ads, all the time, across all devices. Spoiler alert: This is not a future anybody should want.
VideoBlocks Powers through on Path of Industry Disruption. Country Music comes to Sweden via TJ Leonard Welcome back to the dHarmic Evolution podcast with me James Kevin O'Connor, singer/songwriter, audio/video artist, master storyteller, and now International Talent Agent. On today's episode, we travel across the Mighty Atlantic to Sweden to spend some time with TJ Leonard, James was able to rescue him from his painting project for an hour to hang out on the airwaves for some story telling! Swedish country singer/songwriter, TJ Leonard got his first guitar from his grandfather, when he was eight; he taught his grandchild to play Swedish folk music and evergreens. Soon, TJ was introduced to pop and blues through his cousin, who was a little bit older and played in a famous Swedish pop band. At eighteen, TJ became lead singer and guitar player in a dance band. Many genres have passed through TJ's life: Jazz, hard rock, gospel, soul/r&b, but not until country music came along, did it feel like home. This interview is a fantastic one - tons of great musical past and humor that you shouldn't miss! On this episode: TJ shut out all other musical genre's after he heard Keith Urban's “Somebody like you” and decided to pursue country music, because it really grabbed him! Look out for the Roe Deer!, No license needed..... I want to move to the Countryside once again, if you can't be there you have to dream yourself away I sit down in my studio basement and write songs, there is a shower in the basement next to the studio, TJ needs to quiet the family down when he is recording, can't have the kids running across the floor. I hunt as much as I can, sort of deer, we call it Roe Deer, 80 Lb deer, kind of small, James wants to ride one, TJ also hunts Moose and Wild Boar. We shoot the small ones, as the big ones don't have a good taste.
