Dallas • Auckland • Lagos • Singapore • São Paulo GUIDANCE • DIRECTION • CLARITY morning prayer for guidance • Christian prayer for direction in life • seeking God's wisdom for today • prayer when you do not know what to do next Psalm 32:8 (NIV) “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.” There are moments in life when we wish we could see the whole road ahead. We want clarity. We want certainty. We want to know how situations will unfold and whether the decisions we are making are the right ones. Yet many of us begin this day carrying questions that remain unanswered and paths that are not yet fully clear. Perhaps that is where you find yourself today. Not in a crisis. Not overwhelmed by fear. Simply trying to understand the next step. The good news is that God rarely asks us to see the whole journey at once. More often, He lovingly guides us one step at a time. The Lord who sees the destination is more than capable of directing the path that leads there. His guidance is not rushed. His wisdom is not confused. His timing is not uncertain. Father, thank You for this new day and for the promise that You do not leave me to navigate life alone. Thank You that You see what I cannot see and know what I do not yet know. Jesus, where I need direction, guide me. Where I need wisdom, teach me. Where I am tempted to worry about tomorrow, help me focus on the step You are placing before me today. Lord, give me peace when answers seem delayed. Help me trust that Your loving eye remains upon me even when the road ahead is not fully visible. Teach me to walk by faith, trusting that You are leading me with wisdom, grace, and purpose. Across the world, from Dallas to Auckland, from Lagos to Singapore and São Paulo, may hearts find confidence in the God who faithfully guides His people one step at a time. This prayer echoes our heart. Be there for me; direct me; reveal the way… it's a common cry from human beings to God. We are wise when we call to God before we face our crossroads – should we take the path to the left or to the right? What does God know that we don't? Everything! Real wisdom is acknowledging our inability to see the future and choosing to ask the One who does. His love for us is deep and unfailing. He won't send us where He won't go with us.Daylight Meditations is a daily podcast from CFO North America. Please visit CFONorthAmerica.org to learn more about our retreats, and online courses. Dallas • Auckland • Lagos • Singapore • Santiago GUIDANCE • TRUST • NEW BEGINNINGS morning prayer for guidance • Christian prayer for a new day • prayer for wisdom and direction • trusting God with today's decisions Psalm 143:8 (NIV) “Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life.” As a new day begins, there is something comforting about knowing that we do not have to figure everything out before we take our first step. Many people wake up already thinking about what lies ahead. There are responsibilities to carry, decisions to make, conversations to have, and situations that may still feel uncertain. It is easy to begin the day feeling as though we must somehow have all the answers before we move forward. Yet God has never asked us to know everything. He asks us to trust Him one step at a time. Before this day becomes busy, before schedules begin to fill and demands start competing for our attention, we can pause and remember that the Lord is already present in every moment we will face. The path ahead may not be completely visible, but the One who walks with us sees it clearly. Father, thank You for the gift of this new morning. Thank You for Your unfailing love that meets me before the day has fully begun. As I step into today, help me trust You more than my own understanding. Jesus, guide my thoughts, my words, and my decisions. Where I feel uncertain, give me wisdom. Where I feel hesitant, give me courage. Where I feel overwhelmed by what lies ahead, remind me that I do not walk alone. Lord, teach me to follow Your leading with a peaceful heart, trusting that You are directing my steps even when I cannot see the whole journey. Across the world, from Dallas to Auckland, from Lagos to Singapore and Santiago, may hearts be encouraged by the assurance that God is faithful, present, and able to guide every step of this day. Top Gun turns 40, and we can't talk about it without talking about the soundtrack that still punches through your speakers. From the first seconds of Kenny Loggins' “Danger Zone” on the aircraft carrier, we trace how 80s movie music uses needle drops to build character, tension, romance, and pure momentum. We get into the details that make the Top Gun soundtrack legendary: the way the Righteous Brothers' “You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'” revives an older classic for a new generation, how Berlin's “Take My Breath Away” becomes a musical signature for Maverick and Charlie, and why “Great Balls of Fire” remains one of the most unforgettable bar-scene singalongs in film. We also swap quick takes on the movie itself, the sequel callbacks, and why sometimes the music ages even better than the action. Then we jump into our Music in My Shoes picks and stories, including a huge milestone for the show: listeners in 100 countries. Along the way we hit The Kinks, The Doors, Peter Frampton's live-album magic, the Psychedelic Furs “Pretty in Pink” re-recording drama, Robert Palmer's “Addicted to Love” and the power of MTV-era visuals, plus a billion-views moment for the Outfield's “Your Love” and a spring break memory that drilled it into one of our brains forever. Wrap it up with No Doubt's “Just a Girl” and the eternal question of what you love hearing versus what you'd actually put on your own playlist. If you like music history, Billboard chart trivia, and the stories behind the songs, subscribe, share this with a friend who wore out their Top Gun cassette, and leave a review so more listeners can find us.Learn Something New orRemember Something OldPlease like and follow the Music in My Shoes Facebook and Instagram pagesReach out to us at musicinmyshoes@gmail.comSend us a one-way message. In a world full of competing paths, Jesus declares, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” What does it mean to follow Christ not simply as a belief, but as a way of living marked by love, mercy, courage, and trust? For Easter 5, Faith to Go hosts Charlette and David are joined by The Rev. Canon Beth Scriven to explore John 14:1-14, reflect on finding direction in uncertain times, walking the path of Jesus each day, and share this week's God Sightings. To learn more about Rev. Ryan joins us this week to head back to the pond for another episode of The Way Home. ABOUT: THE WAY HOME (SEASON 4 EPISODE 1) Alice is about to graduate high school; Kat and Elliot dream of the next steps for their relationship; Del realizes she will soon be an empty-nester again. AIR DATE & NETWORK FOR: THE WAY HOME (SEASON 4 EPISODE 1) April 19, 2026 | Hallmark Channel CAST & CREW OF: THE WAY HOME (SEASON 4 EPISODE 1) Chyler Leigh as Kat Landry Evan Williams as Elliot Augustine Sadie Laflamme as Alice Dhawan Andie MacDowell as Del Landry BRAN'S THE WAY HOME (SEASON 4 EPISODE 1) SYNOPSIS We start in "the future". Someone has their hand in the pond...It's Kat. In fact, they're all there. Kat, Alice, Del. They say they gotta go see the "I do". Cut back to the present, and Kat, Elliot, and Alice all jump in the pond together to try to find his mom while Sam watches from behind a tree. They get out of the water and they see baby Elliot there in a crib with the letter his mom wrote. They suspect that she jumped in the pond but she would've needed a Landry in order to time travel. Meanwhile, Jacob is missing. Apparently he's at the bus stop, so she rushes to stop him from leaving. So they bring the basket with Elliot and put him on the porch of a young Del and Colton, but they don't seem surprised. Adult Elliot is like why aren't they surprised by this? Del stops the bus and Jacob is like I need to go. I need to see if I can make a life here on my own. She says fine, I'm not gonna fight to keep you if you don't want to be kept. 7 months later - Alice is in a field playing a guitar. Kat finds her and is like it's time to go! She graduates in 2 days! Elliot is talking to Del and updates her on planning the perfect proposal for Kat. But Del is busy digging random holes. She's looking for...something. One night, Elliot wakes up from a crazy dream. He goes downstairs to grab that clock and the clock suddenly starts making music. Del finds what she's looking for. It's a tin bucket full of trinkets. She's interrupted from going through it by a package from Jacob. It's for Alice. He's in Toronto and he's sent a couple of books for her. They're disappointed there's no info about what he's doing there. They all go to a graduation party together and Alice sings the song she and her grandpa sang together back in the day. The next day, it's graduation day. They throw a little family party. Del shares a letter she found in the bucket and realized that she probably made Kat mad by not reading it to her when she graduated. Later, Del hears Tainted Love and it causes the audio of a memory to come rushing back and it doesn't sound great. Alice goes to hang out with Max Goodwin who is apparently her best friend. They get into a little argument and she goes to grab her stuff and she sees his dad watching some old reels from the '20s. She goes in and he leaves and she sees Fern Landry dancing when suddenly she sees her mom come into the shot and pull her away. WHAT IS HAPPENING?!?! So she steals the reel and brings it back to show Kat and Elliot. It becomes clear that Kat is going to be going back to 1925 and this reminds her of something old Fern said... 65 in 25. 25 could be 1925. 65 could be the age of Elliot's mom. Alice goes to dig a hole to put her own box in the ground but finds a suitcase underground. It belongs to Tessa, Elliot's mom. So Kat and Elliot decide to jump but the pond doesn't take Elliot. So Alice jumps in after her. When she comes out, she sees old Fern. But when Kat gets out, she sees young Fern. UH OH! People feel unsure about choices, anxious about outcomes, and overwhelmed by crossroads they did not expect. Many sit in silence wondering, What is the right step? What if I choose wrong? How do I know where You are leading? Jesus, You are not just a guide — You are the way itself. When the path feels unclear, You remain steady. When the heart feels torn between options, You bring truth. When fear clouds judgment, You bring life. Holy Spirit, speak into uncertainty. Whisper clarity where confusion lingers. Lift the weight of indecision that drains strength from the mind. Where someone fears choosing wrongly, bring confidence. Where someone feels directionless, reveal Your steps gently but unmistakably. Remove panic. Replace hesitation with peace. Bring a stillness that allows people to hear Your leading. Order thoughts. Illuminate what is wise. Close every door that leads to harm. Strengthen every door that leads to hope, purpose, and life. Yahweh, Father of guidance, stretch Your hand over every decision waiting to be made tonight. Today we are beginning a new series called "Hope Month" as we examine and celebrate the songs that point to a brighter future. What better way to start than with Styx who make a pointed request to the Divine as they scramble for hope: "Show Me The Way." We (briefly) discuss the band's history and take a deep dive into the meanings behind the song, including an examination of how Dennis DeYoung is able to use his illusion (I and II) to bring himself to higher ground. Grammy Award-winning guitarist Peter Frampton will perform “Baby, I Love Your Way” on “Conan” February 29. The performance celebrates the forthcoming release of his new album Acoustic Classics, due February 26 via RED Distribution. In addition, a new live video of Frampton performing the song with longtime collaborator Gordon Kennedy is premiering on The Huffington Post today [insert link]. For the first time ever, Frampton brings us stripped-down versions of his classic hits including “Lines On My Face,” “Do You Feel Like I Do,” “Show Me The Way” and more. Acoustic Classics also includes one new song, “All Down to Me,” which was co-written by Kennedy, who also co-produced Frampton's Grammy Award-winning album Fingerprints. “All Down to Me” is also the only track on the record that features a guest musician. See below for full track listing. The new album was mixed by Grammy Award-winning engineer Jeff Balding (Don Henley, Lionel Richie, Joe Cocker) and produced by Frampton himself. Of the recording process, Frampton explains, “The approach I took on this was that each song came across as if you are the first person to hear this song after I wrote it. I had to reverse engineer each song in order to get this result, which I feel I achieved.”Acoustic Classics is available for pre-order now and a special pre-order bundle is being offered exclusively on www.frampton.com, which includes the album, a pick set and signed lyric sheet. Frampton will also perform on DirecTV and AT&T's new weekly music program, the Audience Network, March 4. The programming will be available to both subscribers of DirecTV and AT&T U-Verse and the two platforms' mobile apps. Moreover, Frampton has extended his “Peter Frampton Raw, An Acoustic Tour” with more dates next month. Kennedy will join him again for the March run along with Frampton's son, singer and guitarist Julian Frampton. Peter Frampton remains one of the most celebrated artists and guitarists in rock history. At 16, he was lead singer and guitarist for British band the Herd. At 18, he co-founded one of the first super groups, seminal rock act Humble Pie. His session work includes collaborations with such legendary artists as George Harrison, Harry Nilsson, David Bowie, Jerry Lee Lewis, Ringo Starr, John Entwistle and many others. His fifth solo album, the electrifying Frampton Comes Alive! is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year and remains one of the top-selling live records of all time. Like George Bailey, we keep grasping at the life we think we need, and we miss the joys right in front of us! Homily for Christmas Eve 2024
We're always looking at new ways to approach the 90s, and in the past we've revisited the output from bands and artists that got that start in the 1970s and 80s, like Tom Petty, KISS, Van Halen, and others. At the suggestion of our friend and 80s Metal co-host Chip, we've revamped the format for a fresh start. We kick it off with progressive arena rock veterans Styx, and start by checking out their 70s and 80s greatest hits to re-familiarize ourselves with the songs that became staples on classic rock radio for decades - "Come Sail Away," "Renegade," "Mr. Roboto," "Lady," and many more. Then we check out their 90s releases - the 1990 album Edge of the Century, which did not feature guitarist Tommy Shaw, then guitarist for Damn Yankees, and then their 1999 reunion with Shaw, and last with lead singer/keyboardist Dennis DeYoung, Brave New World. Unlike many of their classic rock peers, Styx managed to score a hit single at the start of the decade with the ballad "Show Me The Way." From their, we catch up with the band and current status to determine if the band thrived in the 90s, merely adapted to the times, or creatively died. Songs In This Episode Intro - Show Me The Way (from Edge of the Century) 7:40 - Blue Collar Man (Long Nights) (from Pieces of Eight) 28:42 - Suite Madame Blue (from Equinox) 38:56 - Back To Chicago (from Edge of the Century) 41.57 - All In A Day's Work (from Edge of the Century) 58:57 - What Have They Done to You (from Brave New World) Outro - Everything Is Cool (from Brave New World) Support the podcast, join the DMO UNION at Patreon.
