Paul Zucarelli died in 2017 and returned from the dead through the intercessory prayer of Bishop Thomas Olmsted of Phoenix and the faith of his family. Since his resurrection, he has been serving God as a lay evangelist. His new book, One Lord, One Faith, One Church: An Inconvenient Truth, makes a strong apologetic case for the authority of the Roman Catholic church. He goes into supernatural evidence: Eucharistic miracles, Marian apparitions, uncorrupted bodies of the saints, and raising of the dead. He follows the history of the church from its foundation over the centuries with its schisms and fractures, down to this day when we Catholics disagree about the True Way. Can we humans be reconciled and reunited this side of the veil? That's the question we tackle together. Standing In Grace #RTTBROS #Nightlight “Let anyone who thinks that he stands take heed lest he fall.” - 1 Corinthians 10:12 (KJV) Consider 6 Thoughts toward standing strong in God's grace. 1. The Transparency of Scripture Unlike biographies that may overlook flaws, Scripture candidly reveals the faults of its heroes, teaching us that even in the wake of spiritual victories, we must be vigilant against potential defeats. 2. The Heroes' Downfall Noah, despite his faithfulness in building the ark, fell into drunkenness post-flood. Abram, on his journey of faith, lied in Egypt, and David, after defeating Goliath, committed grave sins. Their stories serve as cautionary tales, reminding us of the dangers of complacency and self-reliance. 3. A.W. Pink's Insight Theologian A.W. Pink noted .“God suffers it to appear that the best of men are but men at the best. No matter how richly gifted they may be, how eminent in God's service, how greatly honoured and used of Him, let His sustaining power be withdrawn from them for a moment and it will quickly be seen that they are ‘earthen vessels.' No man stands any longer than he is supported by Divine grace. The most experienced saint, if left to himself, is immediately seen to be as weak as water and as timid as a mouse.” This humbling truth emphasizes our need for divine support to stand firm. 4. God's Sustaining Grace God graciously provides us with righteousness, salvation, truth, and His word, enabling us to withstand trials and temptations, not by our strength but through His enduring support. 5. The True Way of Escape Acknowledging our frailties, we find our way of escape through Jesus Christ, relying on God's grace to sustain our faith and growth, just as Noah, Abraham, and David did. 6. Reflection and Action Reflect on how God is shaping your thoughts and actions today. Let the biblical examples of reliance on God's grace inspire your daily walk of faith. For further contemplation, read 1 Corinthians 10:1–13, which reinforces the message of God's provision and the importance of depending on His grace. In John Bunyan's Pilgrim's Progress, two friends, Christian and Hopeful, deviate from the True Way to explore By-Path Meadow because it looks like an easier route. They think it will lead them to the same destination, but they lose their way and spend a night at Doubting Castle owned by the Giant called Despair. Doubt is a common experience in the Christian life. It can be caused by many things—convincing arguments, scornful comments, painful experiences. As with Christian and Hopeful, doubt can be a result of getting distracted and losing our way. In Matthew 11:3, John the Baptist expressed his doubt regarding Jesus' identity, “Are you the one who is to come, or should we expect someone else?” John's question may surprise us. After all, John was Jesus' cousin, His chosen forerunner, His prophet in the wilderness. But when John spoke truth to Herod Antipas and condemned his marriage to Herodias, Herod imprisoned him (see Mark 6:14–29). During his imprisonment, John was unable to observe Jesus directly, and that lack of firsthand evidence seems to have planted a seed of doubt. Thankfully, instead of withdrawing into confusion and depression, he took his questions to Jesus. He sent one of his disciples to ask Jesus: “Are you the one?” (v. 3). Jesus responded gently and offered His miracles as proof that He was the Messiah. Then Jesus vouched for John before the crowd and condemned the people's unbelief. Those who had seen Him firsthand, and yet rejected Him, were condemned (vv. 20 24). There are two ways to respond when we struggle with doubt. We might be tempted to look for problems and reasons to abandon the faith. But when we love God, we seek the truth and reasons to trust.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

I'm hoping that the individual essay can be read fairly well on their own, but see here for brief summaries of the essays that have been released thus far.) Earlier in this series, I discussed a certain kind of concern about the AI alignment discourse - namely, that it aspires to exert an inappropriate degree of control over the values that guide the future. In considering this concern, I think it's important to bear in mind the aspects of our own values that are specifically focused on pluralism, tolerance, helpfulness, and inclusivity towards values different-from-our-own (I discussed these in the last essay). But I don't think this is enough, on its own, to fully allay the concern in question. Here I want to analyze one version of this concern more directly, and to try to understand what an adequate response could consist in. Tyrants and poultry-keepers Have you read The Abolition of Man, by C.S. Lewis? As usual: no worries if not (I'll summarize it in a second). But: recommended. In particular: The Abolition of Man is written in opposition to something closely akin to the sort of Yudkowskian worldview and orientation towards the future that I've been discussing.[1] I think the book is wrong about a bunch of stuff. At its core, The Abolition of Man is about meta-ethics. Basically, Lewis thinks that some kind of moral realism is true. In particular, he thinks cultures and religions worldwide have all rightly recognized something he calls the Tao - some kind of natural law; a way that rightly reflects and responds to the world; an ethics that is objective, authoritative, and deeply tied to the nature of Being itself. Indeed, Lewis thinks that the content of human morality across cultures and time periods has been broadly similar, and he includes, in the appendix of the book, a smattering of quotations meant to illustrate (though not: establish) this point. "Laozi Riding an Ox by Zhang Lu (c. 1464--1538)" (Image source here) But Lewis notices, also, that many of the thinkers of his day deny the existence of the Tao. Like Yudkowsky, they are materialists, and "subjectivists," who think - at least intellectually - that there is no True Way, no objective morality, but only ... something else. What, exactly? Lewis considers the possibility of attempting to ground value in something non-normative, like instinct. But he dismisses this possibility on familiar grounds: namely, that it fails to bridge the gap between is and ought (the same arguments would apply to Yudkowsky's "volition"). Indeed, Lewis thinks that all ethical argument, and all worthy ethical reform, must come from "within the Tao" in some sense - though exactly what sense isn't fully clear. The least controversial interpretation would be the also-familiar claim that moral argument must grant moral intuition some sort of provisional authority. This part of the book is not, in my opinion, the most interesting part (though: it's an important backdrop). Rather, the part I find most interesting comes later, in the final third, where Lewis turns to the possibility of treating human morality as simply another part of nature, to be "conquered" and brought under our control in the same way that other aspects of nature have been. Here Lewis imagines an ongoing process of scientific modernity, in which humanity gains more and more mastery over its environment. In reality, of course, if any one age really attains, by eugenics and scientific education, the power to make its descendants what it pleases, all men who live after it are the pat...

In this episode we embark on a captivating journey into the heart of prayer, a universal form of communication with the Divine shared across all religions. As is our custom, we turn to the scriptures of Muslims, Christians, and Jews to uncover the authentic method and profound significance behind this sacred practice. While the outward expressions of prayer may vary, a common thread emerges—the act of prostration, of placing one's face upon the ground. This posture is not only found in different variations within all three faiths, but it is also mentioned in both the Old and New Testaments. We encounter numerous passages where prophets humbly fall to their faces in prayer, whether before the Divine or in the presence of an angel. Curiously, many contemporary Muslims view prostration before a creation as inappropriate. Yet, delving into the stories within the Quran, we unearth the key to unraveling this enigma. One pivotal moment arises when God commands the angels to prostrate before Adam, an act that Iblis defiantly rejects in favor of his own form of worship. At this juncture, God makes it unequivocally clear that this is the manner in which He desires to be worshiped—through the being in whom He breathed His own spirit. Can we now reexamine Islamic prayer through this illuminating lens? Join us in this episode, where we traverse the intricate landscapes of prayer. Together, we contemplate the profound implications of this sacred practice across faiths and seek to deepen our understanding of its true essence. Stay tuned for an episode that promises to challenge perceptions and foster a deeper connection to the Divine.

Length: 7 minutes In our last part, we saw that God performs things through us and also desires them through us. Philippians 2 says that God works in us to will and to do. That is the true leading of the Holy Spirit. Philippians 2:13 (NKJV) for it is God who works in you both […]
Length: 4 minutes In the first part, we established that the leading of the Holy Spirit is not simply the Spirit speaking instruction into your mind. It is the Spirit actually doing the thing through you. That is the leading of the Holy Spirit. But when God does things through you, He doesn’t just act […]
Length: 4 minutes When many Christians hear the term, “the leading of the Holy Spirit,” they associate this with the Lord telling them where to go and what to do. The funny thing is, mere instructions or guidance from the Lord is not what He means when He speaks of the “leading of the Holy […]

Trigger Warning: this episode has mild discussion of suicide. In this episode, Kelsie and Brooke learn from Dr. Melissa Inouye, a historian of modern China and global Christianity about a woman named "True Way" whose life story crossed through Imperial China to the Cultural Revolution through three distinct and unique periods of Chinese history. Inouye's research focuses on the history of global charismatic Christian movements, including the True Jesus Church and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her recent book, China and the True Jesus: Charisma and Organization in a Chinese Christian Church (Oxford 2019) explores the relationship between miraculous power and bureaucratic power in the history of a Chinese Christian Pentecostal church. In addition to publications on the history of modern China, she has also published on topics such as global Mormonism and women's participation in religious movements. This episode is so fascinating. Hour Three. Simon Conway on AI technology.
The Sengoku Period, or Warring States Era, of Japan began in 1467 with the Onin War. Feudal Japan was characterized by violence between warring states, where kinsmen cut each other down in bids for territorial superiority. Independent warlords among the domains unleashed their samurai and fighting men on each other in anarchic attempts to gain dominance. Rivalries ebbed and flowed. Alliances formed and were shattered. Allegiance among warlords was only to self, cooperation existed only when it benefitted the warlords. For the peasant class life was hell, which resulted in regular instances of ikki, or peasant class uprisings. Power began to consolidate in the mid-16th century when a group of warlords had singled themselves out as primary dominators in their regions, having bested their rivals. These “great power” warlords boasted superior militant groups, greater territorial expansion, and grew their base through the exploitation of their weaker neighbors. But when great powers exist, great conflict arises. From the conflicts of these superior warlords came the unification campaigns of Sengoku Japan. Oda Nobunaga, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and Tokugawa Ieyasu were the three great warlords at the center of Japan's unification. Nobunaga died in 1582 before Japan could be truly unified and the rogue warlords brought to heel. His successor Hideyoshi accomplished unification in 1590, though resistance had not been entirely eradicated. It was Tokugawa Ieyasu, after Hideyoshi's death in 1598, that made Japan whole in 1600 after the Battle of Sekigahara. A battle which brought about Japan's final Shogunate, and in which this episode's subject participated at the age of only sixteen. Miyamoto Musashi, born Miyamoto Bennosuke, met with difficulty at a young age and some details of the legendary swordsman remain unclear. However, one defining theme is evident even in his earliest years: that Miyamoto's life was to be one characterized by violence. Jane and Shannon discuss Luke 13:1-21.
The punch-line with this episode is that it's actually not at all about why we should “live and let live,” but actually quite the opposite. Episode 19 of Heaven & Healing Podcast is about why Christians must be bold in standing against “live and let live” and not be gaslit by New Agers, secularists or the woke mob by being told we ‘need' to be respectful of others and ‘stop trying to force' our beliefs on them; this episode is an encouragement to believers to be bold in their faith and unashamed in proclaiming the gospel of Christ as THEE universal, objective truth. As a Christian: Are you constantly worrying about what friends, family, loved ones, acquaintances will think about you for speaking on Christianity? Do you feel backed into a corner when you try to expose spiritual darkness and are met with angry responses that demand you be more kind to others? Do you sometimes think that it's innocuous enough if others' just live how they want/love how they want/practice what they want so long as they are happy and seemingly harmless? In this discussion, I reflect on my personal experience with persecution and use biblical context to explain why it's to be expected and why we can delight in it when it happens. I talk about the inconsistencies of logic that New Age spiritualists & secularists use when it comes to their ideologies, why relative truth cannot exist, human rights that we think we're entitled to vs. Creator right's that God Almighty IS entitled to, how it IS actually loving to tell the truth, satanism of self-idolatry disguised as compassion and why, when you unpack the beliefs against opposing worldview, Christianity is indeed solid as a rock. I will not be in the business of partnering with darkness for the sake of being ‘tolerant, accepting and nonjudgmental;' I will continue to speak out on the falsity of other religions/beliefs in affirming that Jesus is the True Way, and I pray the same confidence in faith for you. Don't let them make you feel crazy. Don't let them beat you down with inclusivity. Don't go out of your way to insult someone — but don't feel guilty if you insult someone for being honest. Live and let live doesn't save anyone. +DONATE www.donorbox.org/heaven-healing-podcast-ministry +VENMO @angelamarieucci +INSTAGRAM @angelamarieucci
With vast treasure troves of spiritual wisdom and knowledge in places like India or China it is hard to believe how utterly oppressive and suppressive these countries have become to their own people. This is not because of Hinduism, Buddhism, or Confucianism, though, but instead due to the abandonment and suppression of the same. Precisely this devolving of the spiritual is rapidly occurring in the west. Abandonment and intentional erosion of honesty, integrity, goodwill, selflessness, truth, faith, etc., is occurring in real time. But some traditions, beliefs, practices, and the like are impervious to erosion because they have no god, devil, or what we might call sin; they also lack institution, dogma, doctrine, and sacred texts. Shintō, the indigenous Japanese practice, is one great example. In the fact, Shintō is a combination of spiritual practice and a cultural custom in Japan known as Shikata. The Kata is an order or way by which something is accomplished. It is the attempt to unite the Honshin (true heart) with the cosmos to produce Wa (harmony) by fulling Bun and Giri, or life roles and obligations respectively. Sin is only produce by not honoring this divine connection with Kami, or spirits.
