Decision Making 1Samuel 23:4 Nine times in the Scripture we find this statement -- "David enquired" of the Lord, or of God. Every one of these instances was after David had become a great leader. And yet David shows us that great leadership results from being a great follower of God. Even in the most practical or mundane of matters. Many times, when we are faced with challenging situations, our first inclination, especially if there are others waiting upon or relying on our answer, is to make a hasty decision based on the best understanding we have at the moment. But we should develop the habit, like David, of asking the Lord for direction first. Perhaps you have already sought the Lord's guidance, though, in a particular situation -- a relationship, or a promotion, or a relocation, or another life-changing decision. Or maybe you received clear direction for your last decision, but a fresh challenge has presented itself. Then inquire of the Lord yet again. There is no such thing as being too dependent upon God. He never wearies of our questions, and we never out-grow our inadequacy without him. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/christian-rider-ministry/message

How Christian Riders share their faith

This Podcast is about How Christian Riders share their Faith. Many Christian Riders are intimidated by the idea of sharing their faith. Jesus never intended for the Great Commission to be an impossible burden. God meant for us to be witnesses of Jesus Christ through the natural outcome of living for him. So I wanted to talk about How to Share Your Faith in God With Others We make evangelism complicated. We think we must complete some 10-week course in apologetics before getting started. God designed an easy evangelism program. He made it simple for us. Here are five practical approaches to being a better representative of the gospel. First, Represent Jesus in the Best Possible Way Or, in the words of a pastor I know, "Don’t make Jesus look like a jerk." Try to keep in mind that you are the face of Jesus to the world. As followers of Christ, the quality of our witness to the world carries eternal implications. Unfortunately, Jesus has been poorly represented by many of his followers. I”m not saying that I am the perfect Jesus Follower—I am not. But if we, I talking about those of us who follow the teachings of Jesus) could represent him authentically, the term "Christian" or "Christ-follower" would be more likely to give a positive response than a negative one. Second, Be a Friend by Showing Love Jesus was a close friend to hated tax collectors like Matthew and Zacchaeus. He was called "Friend of Sinners" in Matthew 11:19. If we are his followers, we ought to be accused of being a friend of sinners too. Jesus taught us to how to share the gospel by showing our love to others in John 13:34-35: --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/christian-rider-ministry/message

Listen to even one televised news report and fear or anxiety may capture your thoughts and grip your heart. We dont overcome the effects of ‘the news’ by denying or ignoring the evil in our world that causes such intense emotions, but rather by applying scriptural truth to circumstances and responding biblically. But it doesn’t take a newscast to stir up fear. The enemy, Satan, wants God’s children to live in constant fear and anxiety as they stockpile worries and are burdened by cares. The Bible says such temptation is “common” to mankind (1 Corinthians 10:13). Even the strongest Christ-followers can experience the temptation to fear and worry. For our concern today with anxiety and unbelief . In Hebrews 3:12, it says, “Take care, brethren, lest their be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, leading you to fall away from the living God.” And verse 14 says, “For we have shared in Christ, if we hold our first confidence firm to the end.” --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/christian-rider-ministry/message

    Helping Backslidden Christians

Play Episode Listen Later Mar 12, 2020 12:32

Backslidden Christians Have you ever temporarily lapsed into unbelief and sin after you became a Christian? The condition of backsliding results from spiritual apathy or disregard for the truth of God’s Word. It results in a departure from a confession of faith and Biblical ethical standards. Actions are affected by our attitudes toward God and His Word. Jesus said, “No one, after putting his hand to the plow and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God” (Luke 9:62). Backsliding is different from apostasy, which spurns the grace of God by renouncing the atoning work of Jesus Christ on the cross (Heb. 6:4-6; 10:26-31). When a person renounces his faith in Christ that person was never a true child of God, and never was among the elect of God (John 3:18-21, 36; 5:24-29). On the other hand, the elect individual, regenerated by the Holy Spirit, justified by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, and redeemed by God has been delivered once-for-all from the bondage of sin. Backsliding is not a “fall from grace” in the sense that a Christian once saved by grace can lose his eternal life in Christ. He is God’s child forever, and He has placed His life in the believing sinner. There were times when the disciples of Jesus withdrew from fellowship with the Lord (Matt. 26:56), Peter denied Christ (26:69-75), Corinthian believers lived in sin (2 Cor. 12:20-21), the Church in Asia became lukewarm (Rev. 2:4, 14-15, 20), etc. The people of Israel serve as an example for Christians today. We are exhorted to persevere in righteousness and doing the will of God. Israel forsook her covenant with the LORD God (Jer. 2:19; 8:5; 14:7), and demonstrated her unfaithfulness by disobeying God. In the New Testament backsliding is viewed as an individual problem, although it is possible for churches to become backslidden, too. Why do Christians become backslidden? We all still possess the old nature that is “corrupt through deceitful lusts” (Eph. 4:22; Rom. 7:13-24; 1 Cor. 3:1-3). Lack of continuous fellowship by “abiding” in Christ results in a lack of spiritual vitality and ineffective Christian service (Jn. 15:4-8). There is no other way to live the Christian life except by maintaining an intimate fellowship with our Lord. If we do not maintain that vital contact with Him we cannot sustain spiritual growth and effectively minister in His name. Unbelief (Heb. 3:12), bitterness (12:15), love for the world (2 Tim. 4:10), love for money (1 Tim. 6:10), adherence to worldly philosophy (Col. 2:8), legalism (Gal. 3:1; 1:6; 5:7), indifference and spiritual coldness (Rev. 2:4; 3:16) are other causes for backsliding. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/christian-rider-ministry/message

He says whatever you do to the least of these, you have done it to me. When you visit them, you’re visiting Me. Your way may on the surface appear better or even more sure, but there is nothing like allowing God to have His way in your life. In His hands He holds life, good instruction, wisdom, success, and strength. In His will is where your desires get met. Everything you could ever dream of, He will exceed your expectations because He is just that good. In Luke 22:42 “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.” Your way won’t work. Let God do what He desires to do in your life. Don’t restrain Him or hold Him back. Let His Spirit fill you and use you today. Let His praise flow from your mouth and make Him big in your circumstance. In Acts 16:25-26 About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. 26 Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everyone’s chains came loose. It can be difficult to move yourself from doing what you want to do. Jesus had the hardest battle of His will to get on the cross, yet it yielded the greatest results, the greatest impact, the greatest blessing in His life. What He knew He could not do, or even wanted to do, He set Himself in prayer to humble himself and decrease, so the grace of God, the power of God could increase. The more you decrease, the more He can increase, birthing the results you are looking for. In Luke 22:41-43 (NIV)41 He withdrew about a stone’s throw beyond them, knelt down and prayed, 42 “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.” 43 An angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him. Choices…the greatest power we have in our lives are our choices. As Christians, this should always involve choosing to do the right thing. In any discussion about doing the right thing, we must also bring up the word “love.” This is because God’s love for us and our love for him compels us to want to do good as well. We love and serve others, because he first loved us. In light of this, here are my top 7 Bible verses about doing the right thing. Acts 10:38 “…how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.” Romans 7:19 “For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing.” I Corinthians 13:4 “Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant…” Galatians 6:9 “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” Colossians 3:17 “ And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” I Thessalonians 5:15 “See that no one repays anyone evil for evil, but always seek to do good to one another and to everyone.” James 4:17 “So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.” --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/christian-rider-ministry/message

Instead of wasting precious time and energy fretting about what is on the road ahead or worrying about what we should or shouldn’t do and if or when we should do it, we can concentrate on staying in close communion with God. When we do arrive at a point where a choice needs to be made, God will instruct and teach us in the way we should go. We are involved in something that will still be worthwhile a million years from now because God has not revoked the great commission. Jesus said, “And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world for a witness to all the nations, and then the end shall come” (Matthew 24:14). Today the kingdom of God is realized as we proclaim the crucified, risen, and returning Lord Jesus Christ. The gospel is the good news of the kingdom of God that has come in the person and work of Jesus Christ. How do we enter into the kingdom of God? There is only one way. “Repent of your sins and believe on Jesus Christ.” That is the message we preach. Our message is the gospel of free grace. It is what God has accomplished for us in the sacrificial atoning death of Jesus Christ for our sins. We offer the gospel freely “without money and without cost” (Isa. 55:1). John Ryle once said, “Men are apt to forget that it does not require great open sins to be sinned in order to ruin a soul forever. They have only to give hearing without believing, listening without repenting, going to church without going to Christ, and by and by they will find themselves in hell.” It is imperative that we make the message of salvation crystal clear in our presentations. Salvation is the gift of God and it is “by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves.” God has provided everything we need in order to be saved. “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved” (Acts 16:31). But also be assured, “Reject Jesus Christ, and you will perish forever.” Every time we share that message we are personally involved in what God is doing in building His eternal kingdom. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/christian-rider-ministry/message

Dear Lord Jesus, meditating on this passage this morning has been like revisiting an old friend, for I can remember the first time I memorized this verse and you began writing it upon my heart. That was over forty years ago, yet I feel like I’m just beginning to understand the true wonder of eternal life—the life that is ours… that is mine, only because of who you are and what you’ve accomplished for us. As you first uttered these words in a prayer for your disciples, I find great joy in knowing that you continue to pray them for us… for me. How I praise you that eternal life is so much more than simply living forever in your presence… though I so look forward to that. It’s about knowing, in the most intimate sense imaginable… it’s about knowing God, as my Father, and knowing you—the “sent one,” the Messiah, our Lord, my Savior, our Righteousness, my Bridegroom. Not merely knowing about you, though there is so much more I do want to know about you… but knowing you now, better and better and better. Holy Spirit, I cannot know God better apart from your work. So my prayer is simple, keep me hungry for the knowledge of God. Don’t let lesser breads satisfy this craving. Don’t let lesser waters slake this thirst. Keep revealing more and more of Jesus to me. Humble me with his glory. Astonish me with his beauty. Mesmerize me with his mercy. Buckle my knees with his affections. Change me by his grace. Free me for his purposes. For indeed, “the people who know their God will stand firm and take action” (Daniel 11:32). So very Amen, I pray, in Jesus’ all consuming name. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/christian-rider-ministry/message

Paul wrote in 2 Timothy 4:1-8 In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge: 2 Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction. 3 For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. 4 They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. 5 But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry. 6 For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time for my departure is near. 7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Today’s podcast is titled: ETERNAL LIFE I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly–John 10:10 BUT What Is Life? Among all the mysteries which surround us there is none deeper than the mystery of life. We recognize life by a thousand evidences, & yet we don’t know what it is. When we see the surging crowd on the streets under the glaring lights of a great city; when we watch the children in their lighthearted playing come pouring out from the school when it’s over, we whisper to ourselves, What is life? And yet, though it looks at us through countless eyes and speaks to us through so many voices, what that life is which is so manifested remains one of the hidden things of God. We probe for it , and it flees from us. We have our hand on it, and it escapes. It meets us in the surging of the city and in the quietness of nature’s solitude. And yet this life, familiar as the sunshine and common as the sand upon the shore–what is it? We don’t know what it is. If Life Is a Mystery, than HOW Much More of This is True of Life Eternal Now if that is true of all life, as we encounter it in common days, So much more we can expect it to be true of what the Scripture calls eternal life. That may be something THAT we can perceive. It may be something that we can enjoy. It may have qualities which flash upon us and tell us that eternal life is there. But if life in any tiniest weed is something unfathomable and untouchable, eternal life must be a secret too. If a child’s storybook in a foreign tongue is given TO you and you cannot understand a word of it, it is UNlikely that you will comprehend a poem in that language. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/christian-rider-ministry/message

Spiritual Resolutions for a New Year James 4:13-17 1. When Jonathan Edwards was just a young man, he made five resolutions and lived by them faithfully: Resolved: to live with all my might while I do live. Resolved: never to lose a moment of time, but to improve it in the most profitable way I can. Resolved: never to do anything which I should despise or think meanly of in another. Resolved: never to do anything out of revenge. Resolved: never to do anything which I should be afraid to do if it were the last hour of my life. 2. I would suggest to you that the resolutions of Jonathan Edwards would be good resolutions for every one of us, especially as we close out one year and begin a new year. 3. All of us have at one time or another has made new year resolutions. Someone has said, ''the weakness of most new year's resolutions is that they simply go in one year and out the other.'' 4. Another has said, ''resolutions are like babies crying in church. They must be carried out to be good.'' 5. As we look at our text we see that James is talking about the future. In verse 13 he refers to the plans certain ones had for the year before them. We read: ''go to now, ye that say, to day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:'' 6. He speaks to us about the attitudes we should have about the days that are before us. 7. James tells us that when we consider the year that is before us that there is much about the future that is uncertain. He says to us in verse 14, ''whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow.'' 8. He reminds us that we don't even know what tomorrow holds, much less a year. 9. Let me say that even though we may not know what we face in the future, we should know how to face the future. 10. A PRAYER FOR 2020

Dear Father God, Thank you that you make all things new. Thank you for all that you've allowed into our lives this past year, the good along with the hard things, which have reminded us how much we need you and rely on your presence filling us every single day. We pray for your Spirit to lead us each step of this New Year. We ask that you will guide our decisions and turn our hearts to deeply desire you above all else. We ask that you will open doors needing to be opened and close the ones needing to be shut tight. We ask that you would help us release our grip on the things to which you’ve said “no,” “not yet,” or “wait.” We ask for help to pursue you first, above every dream and desire you’ve put within our hearts. We ask for your wisdom, for your strength and power to be constantly present within us. We pray you would make us strong and courageous for the road ahead. Give us ability beyond what we feel able, let your gifts flow freely through us, so that you would be honored by our lives, and others would be drawn to you. We pray that you’d keep us far from the snares and traps of temptations. That you would whisper in our ear when we need to run, and whisper in our heart when we need to stand our ground. We pray for your protection over our families and friends. We ask for your hand to cover us and keep us distanced from the evil intent of the enemy; that you would be a barrier to surround us, that we’d be safe in your hands. We pray that you would give us discernment and insight beyond our years, to understand your will, hear your voice, and know your ways. We ask that you would keep our footsteps firm, on solid ground, helping us to be consistent and faithful. Give us supernatural endurance to stay the course, not swerving to the right or to the left, or being too easily distracted by other things that would seek to call us away from a close walk with you. Forgive us for the times we have worked so hard to be self-sufficient, forgetting our need for you, living independent of your spirit. Forgive us for letting fear and worry control our minds, and for allowing pride and selfishness wreak havoc over our lives. Forgive us for not following your ways and for living distant from your presence. We confess our need for you…fresh…new…again. We ask that you make all things new, in our hearts, in our minds, in our lives, for this coming year. We pray for your refreshing over us. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/christian-rider-ministry/message

It is Time for the Sonrise! After a long night

In the words of Apostle Paul Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. I always thank my God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus. 5 For in him you have been enriched in every way—with all kinds of speech and with all knowledge— 6 God thus confirming our testimony about Christ among you. 7 Therefore you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed. 8 He will also keep you firm to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Today’s podcast is titled: It is Time for the Sonrise! After a long night, Paul wrote in 2 Timothy 4:1-8 In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge: 2 Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction. 8 Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing. And we know the time, that it is high time to awake from our sleep: for now our salvation is closer than when we believed. The night is over, and the day is at hand: let’s cast off the works of darkness, and put on the armor of light. Let us walk honestly the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, or as Paul wrote in ..(Romans 13:11-14) not in strife and envying: but put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfill the lusts thereof. Jesus Christ never intended for His people to be taken by surprise at His coming. He intends for you to be totally aware of the time of His return, so that you would be watching, waiting and ready when He comes again. The Scriptures that refer to His coming again as "a thief in the night" do not refer to the way the Church will experience His return, but to the way the world will see it. The coming of Christ will take the world totally by surprise - but not the Christian. Paul said, "You are not in darkness, that the day should overtake you as a thief. You are the children of the light" in 1st Thessalonians 5:4,5). "Knowing the time." The children of the light know that the coming of the Lord is very near. We know we live near the end, because God has placed so much evidence and proof in the world events around us - signs that are intended to alert us to the hour and the day in which we are living. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/christian-rider-ministry/message

Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life. (Psalm 143:8) He’s displayed His everlasting love for us even when we were still sinners. He sacrificed His only begotten Son so that we may live. He took away the curses that resulted from our fall. He showered us with blessings we didn’t deserve. Though our sins were as scarlet, He made us white as snow. Matt 11:6 niv reads “blessed is anyone who does not stumble on account of me” the blessedness of those who have not seen and yet have believed; of those who trust Him though they are slain; This Blessedness is within our reach also. There are times when we are overpowered with the mystery of life and nature. The world is so full of pain and sorrow, strong hearts seem breaking under an intolerable load. God’s children are sometimes the most bitterly tried. For them the fires are heated seven times; they suffer, not only at the hand of man, but the heavens seem as brass to their cries and tears. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/christian-rider-ministry/message

Life is busy. I know that. But you cannot allow your life to become too busy to recognize, communicate, and serve your Savior, Jesus. It starts with an attitude of acknowledgment. The Bible says in Romans 1:21 For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/christian-rider-ministry/message

In spite of the fact that society is so severely lacking in integrity, it is something people want and admire—just not bad enough to do what it takes to ‘have some integrity’ of their own. So don’t be afraid to be a trend-setter and spread a little integrity everywhere you go. Besides, being a man of integrity… ⦁ Provides you with a sense of security: Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but he who makes his ways crooked will be found out. ~Proverbs 10:9 ⦁ Will allow you to make wise decisions with confidence: The integrity of the upright guides them, but the crookedness of the treacherous destroys them. ~Proverbs 11:3 ⦁ Puts you in a position to receive God’s blessings: Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, but those who act faithfully are his delight. ~Proverbs 12:22 --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/christian-rider-ministry/message

Hello Brothers and Sisters, Grace and Peace to YOU from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful, by whom YOU were called into fellowship of his son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all YOU do: because it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.” He has saved us and called us to a holy life, not because of anything we have done but because of His own purpose and grace. This Grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time. This is why you were called, because Christ suffered for YOU, leaving YOU an example, that YOU should follow in His steps. He called YOU to this through our Gospel, that YOU might share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. Brothers and Sisters, Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this YOU were called so that YOU may inherit a blessing. Therefore, my Sister, make every effort to confirm YOUR calling and election. If YOU do these things, YOU will never stumble, and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our LORD and Savior Jesus Christ. I will always give thanks to our GOD for YOU because of the Grace given YOU in CHRIST JESUS.
