Your Nightly Prayer
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Friday morning, the 30th of May, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Gospel of John 3:7. Jesus says, “Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.” I want to speak to you about starting the journey. The best way to start the journey is with Jesus Christ. He will not allow you to get lost. He will not take you on the wrong road. He will make sure that you get to your destination, and He will, most of all, help you to enjoy the journey. I always remember my late mom used to say when we went on holiday, “The best part of the holiday is the journey.” Isn't that true? Now folks, I want to tell you something. In 2014, CUM Books, which is Christian Art Publishers, Chris Johnson, a very dear brother of mine in Christ, we got together and he said to me, “Angus you are an evangelist. You get out there and preach the Gospel and you show people how to start the journey with Jesus, and we will supply a little book that we will give to every single convert or backslidden Christian as a gift from us." He has held to his promise, I am talking for 11 years! Now, if you are listening to this you probably know we have done some very big events, not just mighty men conferences, not just prayer meetings, but huge events in stadiums and Christian Art Publishers have been so faithful. Every time a person gives their life to Christ, they have an opportunity of getting one of these books for free. These wonderful people pay for the printing of that book. Now I picked up one of those books this morning,“Starting the Journey'. It says, “The most important decision that you can ever make”. I made it on 18th February, 1979. Oh, I will never forget it. We are talking on close to 50 years ago. I will never forget that decision. Now this little book will tell you how to start the journey and to go through this life. I would encourage you to get one of these books, but folks, I am going to pray for you because that is the purpose of Thought for the Day. Please pray this prayer after me:Dear Lord Jesus,I want to start the journey which will take me to Heaven. I ask you to forgive me for all my sinful ways and from today onwards, I promise to put You first in my life, and I thank You for walking this road, which is quite tough at times, Lord, for walking this road with me.In Jesus name, Amen.God bless you and keep on with the journey. Home time is sooner and closer than you think.Goodbye.

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Tuesday morning, the 6th of May, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Gospel of Luke 5:32. This is Jesus speaking. He says: “”I did not come to call the [self-proclaimed] righteous [who see no need to repent], but sinners to repentance [to change their old way of thinking, to turn from sin and to seek God and His righteousness].” (Amplified Version) Straight forward, straight talking - “I didn't come to seek those who think they are okay. I came for those who know they are not okay but they want to change their ways.” We need to remember where we came from. Remember, people who live in glass houses don't throw stones! I am one of them because I remember where I was before I met the King of Glory, the Lord Jesus Christ. I was lost, I was desperate, I needed help and I met the Lord and He changed my life. He also changed my way of thinking. Sometimes the best ambassadors for the Kingdom of God are newly converted believers because they understand so clearly what the other man or woman is going through. When you walk with the Lord for many years, you tend to forget sometimes what the man in the street is up against and you can't identify with him. I remember a minister once saying to me, a lovely man of God, he said, “The day I put the dog collar on, the day that I got dressed in my minister's garb, I lost 95% of my witness, because people see you coming from a long way away, not to say that it is wrong, but that is a fact.” What do they say? It takes a thief to catch a thief. I shouldn't really say that should I? But what I think that saying means is that if you really understand where somebody is, you can identify with them. The first man I ever led to the Lord Jesus Christ was in a maize field, my green cathedral, and that man is now with Jesus today. But the two of us were in tears, we didn't know really how to pray the Sinner's Prayer but we did it and I know God saw it and I know that that day, that man changed. Jesus has come for you today. I don't know where you are at in your life. Maybe you are lost and you say, “I can't go on anymore, Angus.” Please pray this prayer after me:Dear Lord Jesus,I am a sinner and I need you today to help me. I can't go on much longer. Please help me, and I ask this in Your precious name. Amen. That is good enough for the Lord, and now follow through. Find a believer, tell him your story, get a Bible, start reading it because if any man is in Christ, he is a new creation.Jesus bless you and goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Thursday morning, the 24th of April, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the last book of the Old Testament, Malachi 2:6: “And turned many away from iniquity.” Then we go straight to the New Testament to the Book of James 5:20: ”…he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins.”A few weeks ago, I had the privilege of visiting an older gentleman who was well into his nineties, a very fine older man. I went to have a cup of tea with him. His daughter was there as well and his daughter was concerned about his salvation. We sat and had a cup of tea and started to talk to him (he originated in bonny Scotland) and spoke to him about the old country, as it were, and we talked about lots of different things. Then slowly but surely I started to speak to him about his salvation, about the fact that Jesus loves sinners, about the fact that we need to put our trust and hope in Him. I was praying all the time in my heart, “Please Lord, open this man's heart to you” and I asked the old gentleman, “Sir, do you mind if we pray together?” He was actually quite open to it, together, we prayed the prayer of faith. That gentleman went to be with Jesus just a week or two ago. I want to say to you that when you go to speak to someone about his salvation, especially a man who is a proud man, a good man, but he has never made a commitment to Christ, you need to be gentle. You need to be forthright but you need to be gentle. You need to speak to that older gentleman, or that older lady, or that young person about something they are interested in and get their trust first and then once you have done that you broach the subject and you pray with them the Sinner's Prayer. Very rarely have I had anyone who refused to pray that prayer with me.I want to pray for you today. Maybe you have never actually made a public confession of your faith. Why don't you do it now? Pray this prayer after me please:Dear Lord Jesus,I acknowledge I am a sinner and I am in need of a saviour, please help me to put my trust in You completely.I will serve no other gods but You.I thank You for dying for me, a sinner,In Jesus' mighty name, amen.Have a wonderful day,Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Tuesday morning, the 22nd of April, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Luke 3 and I am not going to read that chapter. I would like you to read it, but that whole chapter is the family tree of our Lord Jesus Christ, starting from verse 23 - Luke 3:23. “Now Jesus Himself began His ministry at about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, the son of Heli, the son of Matthat, the son of Levi, the son of Melchi,…”Do you know that that family tree goes all the way back? You will see in verse 38: “… the son of Enosh, the son of Seth, the son of Adam, the son of God.” That is the family tree of our beloved Lord Jesus Christ. If you go to the Book of John 15:5, the Lord says Himself: “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit…” I am talking today about the family tree. Maybe you are sitting there and you are saying, “Angus, I am an orphan. I don't have any family. Maybe your family has rejected you, maybe your family has died and you feel that you have got nothing. I want to tell you that if you are a born-again Christian, you are not an orphan. You are a son or a daughter of the Living God. Family trees are important to people. I think I have told you before, my family comes from Scotland. My mother's mother was a Livingstone. Have you ever heard of David Livingstone? Of course you have. Well, she came from the West Coast of Scotland and that's where David Livingstone comes from. I would like to believe that I am related to that man who was partly responsible for abolishing the slave trade in Africa. My dad's mother was a Finney, her maiden name was Finney. Have you heard of Charles Finney, the great American revivalist who won many, many souls to Christ? That is my family. I don't know whether it is direct or not, it doesn't matter, but ultimately and more importantly, I am a child of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, my sins have been forgiven, I have got a family tree, a future that I can look forward to. What about you? Let's pray together.Dear Lord Jesus,Today, I am sorry that I think I am an orphan. I am not an orphan, I am a son of the Living God, I am a daughter of the Living God. That is my inheritance and when I get home, you are not going to say to me, “Welcome friend”, You are going to say, “Welcome home, son or daughter of the Living God.” That is something to look forward to.God bless you and goodbye.

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Wednesday morning, the 8th of January 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a Thought for Today. We start in 2 Corinthians 5:17, out of the Amplified Version today: ”Therefore if anyone is in Christ [that is, grafted in, joined to Him by faith in Him as Saviour], he is a new creature [reborn and renewed by the Holy Spirit]; the old things [the previous moral and spiritual condition] have passed away. Behold, new things have come [because spiritual awakening brings a new life].” Wow, what a beautiful scripture! As we start this new year, which is still the first month of a brand-new year, I can hear somebody sitting there and saying, “Angus, I have messed up. I am done and dusted. There is no hope for me - I have let the Lord down, I have let my family down, I have let my husband down, I have let my parents down. There is no hope for me.” Oh yes, there is, according to this scripture! If anyone is in Christ, they are a new creation. Old things have passed away. Look at Mary Magdalene. Jesus cast seven demons out of that woman. She was an immoral woman, according to the word of God, and yet the Lord used her. I want to tell you that if you get to Heaven before me, the woman who will be sitting closest to the Lord, the most beautiful woman in Heaven, will be Mary Magdalene. Why? Because God takes broken things, He renews them and makes them new again. What about Peter, the big fisherman? “I will die for You, Lord.” He denied the Lord three times. He was absolutely disgusted with his life, but he repented. He said sorry, and God gave him a new beginning. What about Paul (Saul), the Pharisee? Paul, who thought he was doing a good thing by killing Christians? He was an evil man, but the Lord gave him a second chance, a new beginning, and Paul wrote two-thirds of the New Testament.I want to pray for you this morning. Put the past behind you. You know, the Lord has got a bad memory. What do I mean? When He forgives, He forgets. So let's say, “Lord, please give us another chance; give us a new beginning.” Pray this prayer after me:Dear Lord Jesus,This morning, on the 8th of January 2025, I give my life to You afresh. Lord, I want to make a new start.I want to put the past behind me.I see that big blackboard duster rubbing out all that chalk, all those sins paid for, done. And Lord, I want to serve You this year with all of my heart. I ask it in Jesus' name, amen.God bless you, and have a wonderful year,Goodbye.

Your Nightly Prayer
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Monday morning, the 28th of October, 2024, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Ezekiel 33:5: “He heard the sound of the trumpet, but did not take warning; his blood shall be upon himself. But he who takes warning will save his life.” Then we go to the Book of Hebrews 2:3:”…how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, …”We need to listen for the sound of the trumpet calling. It's a warning, my dear friend, for the time is running out. I just feel in my heart I am speaking to a man at the moment, and maybe a woman as well, who is continually digging your heels in and you are saying, “Tomorrow, I will make my peace with the Lord.” But the trumpet is blowing. The Lord is saying, “This is the day that you need to seek Me with all your heart." This is the day that you need to make your peace with God. A long time ago, I heard a story about a miller - you know, the old-fashioned mill where it had a wheel and a little stream running past, and the water turned the wheel, and the wheel turned the two huge grindstones, and they ground the corn into meal. This miller was very hard-working but he was totally obsessed by his work. He wasn't interested in anything to do with the Lord, but he got very sick and his family was worried about him, and they realised the old gentleman was dying. They called an evangelist in, “Please come and tell our dad about Jesus because he is going to meet the Lord very shortly.” They came down to the mill and the old man was now bedridden, and what he had done was, he had asked them to put the bed right next to the grindstone so that he could hear the wheels grinding the corn and making money for him. The evangelist walked up and he started to say to him, “Please sir, the trumpet is calling, home time has arrived. You need to make your peace with Jesus. ”And he kept saying, “I can't hear you, I can't hear you because of the noise of the mill, grinding the corn.” And eventually, he died and he went to hell.Folks, I want to tell you, we have got to speak up. I want to pray with you today. I just feel that there is a man and a woman listening to this programme who have never made a commitment to Christ. You know what to do, you know what you are supposed to do but you have been so busy, busy with your work, busy with your vision, your ambition. If you are that person, I want to give you the privilege of praying this prayer with me, a simple prayer. Let us pray together: Dear Lord Jesus,I acknowledge today that I have been wasting valuable time. I ask You therefore, to be my Lord and Saviour. I am so sorry that I have been chasing after other gods, like money and fame and ambition. Today, I accept You as my Lord and Saviour. Amen.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Monday morning, the 2nd of September, 2024, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Old Testament, the Book of Proverbs 3:15:”She is more precious than rubies, And all the things you may desire cannot compare with her.”Then we go to Mathew 13:45-46:”Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls, who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it.” That pearl of great price! Oh, my dear friend, it is our salvation. It's when we find the Lord Jesus Christ, isn't it? That is exactly what it is like. So often, we forget what God has so freely given to you and me: eternal life, freedom, and a new opportunity to serve Him. We don't even know sometimes what we are holding in our hands, do we? The Passion Translation says: “When he discovered one very precious and exquisite pearl, he immediately gave up all that he had in exchange for it.” The Message Translation says: “Finding one that is flawless, he immediately sells everything and buys it.” On the 26th of January 1905, in South Africa, the largest rough diamond ever found on earth was found in the Cullinan Mine. It weighed 621.2 grams. It is worth 19,000,000 British pounds. It was named after the mine owner, Thomas Cullinan. Incredible! But I want to tell you, I found my diamond on 18th February 1979, at about 10 o'clock in the morning - an absolute pearl of great price. Yes, I met Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour, and you know, since that day, everything else in this world has paled into insignificance in comparison. What about you? Would you like to find that diamond of great price? Maybe you did and you lost it. I want to pray a prayer with you today, that you would again commit your life to Jesus. Please pray this prayer after me:Dear Lord Jesus,I have been searching all my life for peace, joy and purposeful living. Today, by faith, I accept you as my Lord and Saviour. I thank you for dying for a sinner like me and today, You will become the most important person in my life.In Jesus' name, Amen.God bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Tuesday morning, the 25th of June, 2024, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Matthew 5:13:"You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavour, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men." Have you ever tried to eat a plate of food without salt? Have you ever tried to eat a plate of porridge with no salt! Oh folks! Coming from a Scottish background, where porridge is our staple diet, aah - it is terrible. It is bland, tasteless, it is extremely hard to swallow. It is like listening to a preacher bringing the word of God to a congregation, who is just so very boring, no passion, no conviction. I remember once preaching to a group of farmers down in the Eastern Cape and at half time, it was an all-day affair, I was in the bathroom, and an old farmer walked in and he said to me, "Son, when you preach, you don't have to sweat so much." I said him, "Sir, you haven't seen anything yet. Wait for the second half!" We need to be committed to our walk with Jesus Christ. Some people don't even believe in what they are preaching. There is no emotion, no tears. Charles Finney was a great revivalist from America. He said, "Where there are no tears and no "amens" there is no revival." No conviction, no love, no desperation - you and I have been called to be watchmen, we have been called to warn the people of the evil one. We need to prepare people's hearts for home time. We mustn't preach to the head, we must preach to the heart, always preaching for a response, expecting results. We want a verdict. It's like a defence lawyer. Have you ever seen him pleading for the life of his client who has been condemned to death? He is not playing the fool, he is desperate. He only has one opportunity. You and I are exactly in the same position. There must be an urgency for your loved ones to be saved. People must have an opportunity to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. Now, maybe you are listening to this message for the first time and maybe you say, "I don't know what you are talking about, being born again. What does that mean?" It means you need to stop your life of total disregard for God, and you need to start living for Jesus Christ. Pray this prayer after me:Dear Lord Jesus,I repent of my sin today. I am sick and tired of doing things my own way. From today onwards, I choose to follow You and only You. In Jesus' name, amen.God bless you. Now, go out and tell the first three people what you have just prayed. Goodbye.
Judson Van DeVenter was an art teacher and artist when he became a layman in the Episcopal-Methodist Church. He was passionate about his work, but also actively devoted to the evangelistic meetings held at his church. Seeing his abilities, Judson's friends urged him to quit his job and become an evangelist. For five years, he wavered between the ministry and seeking recognition as an artist. He felt God's call on his heart, but it was a difficult choice to set aside his career and artistic talent. Proverbs 3:5 says, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” One of the most challenging things we can do as humans is to surrender our lives to God. We want to control our lives and make our own decisions, but true freedom comes when we surrender to Christ. Judson Van DeVenter, or “JW” as his friends called him, finally surrendered his life completely to Christ, and traveled extensively throughout the United States, England, and Scotland as an evangelist—visiting art museums and studying painting as he shared the Good News about Jesus. Along the way he wrote the beloved hymn “I Surrender All,” among other songs, and was credited later in life as being a positive influence on the work of Billy Graham, who counted him as a friend and enjoyed time in his home for fellowship and singing. When we surrender to Christ, we allow Him to take control of our lives. We become more focused on following His will, and less concerned about our own desires. We become more dependent on Him and less dependent on ourselves. Let's pray. Dear Lord Jesus, today I surrender all to you. Let me lean more on you, and less on my own desires. I give you my life. In Jesus' name, amen. Change your shirt, and you can change the world! Save 15% Off your entire purchase of faith-based apparel + gifts at Kerusso.com with code KDD15.
“I think first of all, as leaders, we have to understand what the gospel is first and foremost so that we can lead, encourage, coach, challenge, and even call [our students] to a decision.”Mark Miller, from the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, joins Jeremy on the podcast to discuss leading teenagers to Jesus. Mark emphasizes the importance of a moment of decision in accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior and the need for youth leaders to understand and articulate the gospel. Listen in for a clear way that you can lead your students to faith in Jesus. You can join the work of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association in spreading the gospel online by heading to SearchforJesus.net or check out www.billygraham.ca Billy Graham would often pray: “Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and I ask for your forgiveness. I believe you died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and invite you to come into my heart and life. I want to trust you and follow you as my Lord and Savior. In Jesus Name, amen.”1 John 1:9: If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.Romans 10:9: If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Saturday morning, the 1st of June, 2024, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go straight to the Book of Revelation 21:5: "Then He who sat on the throne said, "Behold, I make all things new." And He said to me, "Write, for these words are true and faithful." That is a wonderful promise from God. He doesn't do patch-up jobs, He doesn't try and renew something that's old and broken. He does a brand-new job.One of my favourite verses in the Bible, 2 Corinthians 5:17 says: "Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new." It is a miracle, an absolute miracle, and it is something I can never, ever get used to, and I have seen it for 45 years. You preach the Gospel with love, with sincerity. You challenge the men and the women, the boys and the girls - I have seen it from Sunday School, to men's conferences to ladies meetings, and then you give them an opportunity. You say, "What about giving your life to Christ today?" And you see the change in the countenance of the person. A person who is down and out, who is broken, who has been defeated, all of a sudden, it is the power of God, folks, it is the Holy Spirit, the same Holy Spirit who moved in the upper room. A group of people who are cowering in the corner, absolutely petrified, waiting for the Roman soldiers to come in and to execute them, all of a sudden filled with the power of God and completely new life comes into them. Remember Peter? He preached his first sermon and 3,000 people came to Christ. The same thing has happened, wherever I go I see it, and it touches me deeply. A man who is an alcoholic and is giving up, he prays that prayer, he asks Jesus into his heart, and God takes that thing away from him; broken marriages restored; physical healings taking place. He is the God of the impossible! Put your trust in Him today. I want to pray for you. Maybe you have never prayed this prayer yourself. Why not do it on the 1st of June, a new beginning? Pray this simple prayer after me:Dear Lord Jesus, I am tired of living the way I am living. Today Lord, I surrender my old life to You, and I ask You to make me a new creation. I want to start again, Lord. I repent of my sin, I accept You as my Lord and Saviour. I will serve no other gods but You, today onwards, in Jesus' name,Amen. God bless you. Now, go out and tell the first three people that you meet what you did today. You are a brand-new person! Jesus bless you and goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Monday morning, the 27th of May, 2024, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Revelation 21:4:”And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” Now, isn't that something to look forward to? Wow, I can't wait! The former things have passed away, there will be no more tears in Heaven, there will be no more death in Heaven, there will be no more sorrow in Heaven, there will be no more crying in Heaven, there will be no more pain in Heaven, and the past has been wiped away. What a future to look forward to. There will be no anticlimax, there will be no disappointment.A few years back, I had the privilege of being invited to meet, in my humble opinion, one of the greatest evangelists to have ever walked on this planet, yes, Dr Billy Graham, himself. I was flown up in a jet from Tennessee, USA, up to Montreat, North Carolina, where he lived. They fetched us at the airport. I was so excited to meet this man. They drove me to his home, but at the gate there was a security guard, and he asked the gentleman who supposedly organised the meeting for the credentials, and of course, the thing fell flat. He said, “You can't see Mr Graham because we don't know about this appointment.” I was so disappointed, honestly. Look, they were very kind to us, they took us to the museum, they showed us where he grew up, where he lived, his home. They showed us all the different, wonderful things that he had done in his life. Many other retired evangelists were there. They took us around, it was wonderful, but it was an anticlimax. When we go to Heaven, there will be no anticlimax. If we look at verse 3 it says: “God Himself will be with them and be their God.” Revelation 21:3That is a guarantee, that is a given. He personally will meet us at the gate, He won't send His angels, He won't send Peter or any of the disciples, He has promised us, He will meet you, Mary, He will meet you, John, personally, and welcome you home. I can't wait for that day. In the meantime, maybe today, you are feeling a bit down, you're feeling a bit lonely. Maybe you have also been disappointed. Well, I want to tell you something now, lift up your heads and look for your redemption draws near. I want to pray for you as we close.Dear Lord Jesus,I pray for my friend today who is not feeling very happy. Maybe they have lost a loved one, maybe they have been terribly disappointed by a relationship, maybe they don't have work, maybe they are fearful of the future. Oh Holy Spirit, reassure them today of the wonderful future that awaits them when You come to fetch us personally, and to take us home to be with You in glory, forever and ever, Amen.God bless you and goodbye.
Dear Lord Jesus, Your word truly is a lamp unto our feet and we cant wait to follow your instructions as you light our paths. GIRLS/GUYS, TUNE IN AND LETS SEE WHAT WE CAN LEARN TOGETHER!
God chose Jesus, His Son, to make the greatest sacrifice mankind has ever known. The Son of God became a son of man, experiencing humanity in full as He was born, nurtured by Mary and Joseph, and ministered to and healed people He encountered. The miraculous birth, life, death, and resurrection of Jesus is the foundation of our Christian faith. It is powerful to consider that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ shared our human experience. Jesus was chosen by His Father to pay the ultimate price for the sins of all mankind, in order to save our souls for all eternity. None of us can fathom how it would feel to be in that position, but the Bible tells us in Hebrews that Jesus suffered anguish as He pondered God's plan for Him. Hebrews 5:7 says, “During the days of Jesus' life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with fervent cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission.” Jesus could have refused His calling, leaving us to bear the punishment for our sin, but instead, He obeyed His Father and gave His life in exchange for our redemption. What an incredible gift His grace is for us. Let's pray. Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for giving your life in exchange for our sins. God called you to be born, live a human life, and die on the cross, and you obeyed your Father and gave your life for us. Thank you for loving us that much. In your name, amen.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Sunday morning, the 3rd of March, 2024, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go straight to the Gospel of John 3:7, and that very, very famous scripture, Jesus says you must be born again. "Do not marvel that I said to you, 'You must be born again.'A beautiful old book was sent to me by a farmer in England a few weeks back, a beautiful book that was written in 1950's, and in it was an illustration which I want to read to you because it touched my heart very deeply. It goes like this: "A father lay on his deathbed and was saying farewell to his family as they stood around him. Affectionately greeting his wife, his daughter and his sons, he used the same expression to each one of them, "Goodnight my dear, when we meet again in the morning, there will be no night there." But then turning to the youngest boy, he put out his hand and said, "Goodbye John". The poor boy was hurt by this and said, "What do you mean, father? You said "goodnight" to mother and the others but "goodbye" to me." "Yes, my boy. Your mother, your father and your minister have prayed for you. The Spirit of God has been striving with you, but it has all been to no avail. This is goodbye for us." The wayward youth was so overcome that he dropped to his knees and he cried his way, sobbed his way, to Calvary. Then, with his last labouring breath, the father took his hand and said, "Goodnight John, when we meet again in the morning, there will be no night there."Maybe I am speaking to a wayward son, a wayward daughter, I would encourage you not to leave it too late before you are born again. Maybe you would like to repent right now and pray this little prayer with me: Dear Lord Jesus,I heard this little story and it has cut me into the quick, and I know that I am not in the right place with you. Please forgive me today before it is too late. I will serve you with all of my heart and I repent of all of my sins.In Jesus' name, amen. The Lord bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Sunday morning, the 25th of February, 2024, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of John 3:8: “The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.” It cannot be explained. We must believe it by faith and by faith alone so that no one can touch the glory of God. I remember it like yesterday, in Ein-Gedi, the lowest point on earth, the Dead Sea, in September 2012. It was a night we will never, ever forget. I was standing on the platform, reading from the Book of Acts, where the rushing mighty wind came through the upper room and filled all the disciples with the Holy Spirit, and when I was finished, I was so overwhelmed by the goodness of God. There was a huge crowd, maybe 5000 delegates from 80 nations from around the world, and I stood in front of the lectern, and you can see it - is on video, and I said, “Lord, please do it again, Lord Jesus, do it again.” And I want to tell you there was a wind that came. We don't know which way it came from. My assistant, Clive, had to go and find my Bible. My Bible weighed about 2 kilos, and it flew off the lectern like a piece of tissue paper. The sound system started blowing away, the guitars, the drums, and the musicians were running onto the platform to try and rescue their equipment, and then when the wind was blowing at its fastest, it started to rain. Now folks, I need to explain to you. It doesn't rain in that area - very rarely. There are no trees there; it is dry and hot, but this wind blew. It was the most incredible experience I think I have ever had in my life. Now, I just asked the Lord Jesus to please do it again and folks, He did it.He loves you very much and He wants to fill you also with His Holy Spirit again, but if we look at the verse before, verse 7, Jesus said: “Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.” What does that mean? It means to make a new start. It means to ask Him to come into your heart and rescue you from the things of this world. Maybe you have never asked Him into your heart. I would like to pray with you now, if I may. Please pray this prayer after me if you would like to:Dear Lord Jesus,There are many things I do not understand. I don't know where the wind comes from and I don't know where the wind goes to but I do know that the wind blows because I can feel it on my face. Lord, you said we must be born again so today I ask you to come into my life to fill me with your love and to start with me afresh. In Jesus' name,Amen.God bless you and have a wonderful Sunday,Goodbye.

Recently, a friend and neighbor passed away. Rachael was a solid Christian, yet I was not aware of underlying problems. For instance, never having been in her apartment, I didn't know she was a level 3 hoarder. One thing about going through a hoarder's home is you find hidden gems. I offered to take her Christian books and give them away to friends. Consequently, in going through them, I discovered a Bible Prophecy book. What made this book different, is that it was written in 1920. For a book that's 104 years old, it's in excellent condition. Fascinated as I am with Bible Prophecy, as I read it, it occurred to me since it was written in 1920, by Rev. Clarence Larkin from Philadelphia, PA, it was pure and uncontaminated by modern-day Bible Prophecy preachers. Face it, when reading contemporary prophecy books or watching preachers on YouTube, you don't know who to believe! It took me years of my own personal study to feel confident in believing in “Pre-Millennialism”. I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Monday morning, the 15th of January, 2024, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Isaiah 53:5:“But He was wounded for our transgressions,He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,And by His stripes we are healed.” What beautiful words! Then we go straight to 1 Peter 2:24: “…by whose stripes you were healed.” Healed! I want to say to you today, so often we forget and we neglect the mere fact that Jesus Christ has paid for it all on the tree when He was crucified, and as He was dying He said, “It is finished!” - and He meant it. I want to say to you my dear friend, please receive the promise of God that you are healed, you are forgiven and you are set free. Healed physically, healed mentally and more importantly, healed emotionally. Jesus has done it all. What is our part in this? To simply, by faith, believe. Now I want to pray for you, a very special prayer, and I really mean it because I have also been praying for you before I recorded this message. Please listen to this prayer and receive it for yourself:Dear Lord Jesus,I want to thank You for what You have done for me, not only for me but for my loved ones and my friends. Lord, You said that by the stripes that You received from the beating that You got, we have been healed. We have been healed of that sickness, we have been healed from disease, we have been healed from fear, we have been set free from evil thoughts and we have been given new life. Today, we want to simply say, thank You Lord, for healing me.In Jesus name,Amen.

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Friday morning, the 5th of January, 2024, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the First Book of Peter 1:23:”…having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever,…” Incorruptible seed - you know, I was a seed maize farmer when I was younger. It is a very sensitive crop to grow. You really have to be on top of your game. As a seed maize farmer, you are trying to develop a very pure seed without any other types of maize growing in that crop for the company you are growing for. You have young maize inspectors who come to your farm every day. These are young guys; they put on their takkies, are fit, are strong, take a cattle counter with them, and walk through your crop every day. I was growing about a hundred hectares of maize, 240 acres of maize and 35,000 plants per hectare, and if they found 1% - that is one corruptible plant in a hundred, they condemned the crop. We had to take a gyro mower and mow it down, which would have meant literal bankruptcy for me in those days. The reason why they did it is because when they sold their product to the public, to the commercial farmer, they wanted the commercial farmer to see that their seed was pure, that there was nothing in it that was not supposed to be there. Now, the Lord Jesus Christ says you and I must be born again. That is not a charismatic, a Pentecostal, or an evangelical term. That is a Jesus term. Jesus said we must be born again. Why? Because we have to start afresh. So I want to pray for you as we close that this year, 2024, God will only allow pure, incorruptible seed in your life. It comes through spending time reading the Bible, the word of God, and then the things that come out of your mouth are pure because you are speaking what you have been reading, what you have been praying, and having fellowship with other believers who are also of that incorruptible seed. Pray this prayer after me, please:Dear Lord Jesus,At the start of this new year, 2024, I commit my life entirely into your hands. I thank You, Lord, and ask You to please keep me pure so that I can finish this race without any corruptible seed damaging my life. Make me a blessing, not only to You but to my fellow man.In Jesus Name, amen.God bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Monday morning, the 1st of January, 2024, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. First of all, I want to wish you a very happy New Year. A very peaceful New Year, a brand new start! We go to 2 Corinthians 5:17:"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new."What a beautiful promise from God! The Lord has brought us new life, it's a New Year - It's a brand new start, the old has passed away. I always love to say that the Lord has got a bad memory! When He forgives, He forgets! when you said, "Lord, remember what I did last year?" He says, "No, I don't remember. What did you do?" We need to press on. It's a new beginning; it's a new year! My dear friend, it's a new opportunity to start your life again. I'm going to pray with you in just a minute. We are going to pray together, you and I. We are going to ask God to forgive us for all the mistakes we made in 2023. We can ask him to 'clear the slate' and give us a new start. You know, I love to see new births, and being a farmer, I have a lot of opportunities to see that. Seeing a newly born calf, a newly-born lamb or a newly-born pony. A little foal that is born - it is quite something! I sit and look in amazement, as does its mother. You know that little calf, after its birth, his mum has a very rough tongue, and she'll come and clean him and make him so fluffy, new and sweet smelling. He stands up and staggers a little bit with those big eyes looking around. The first time he's seeing new life - That is how you and I will be this year. We're going to start again. We are going to put all those bad habits behind us. We will say, "Lord, give us a new beginning, please." A new kick-off, that's right! It's a brand new game, and the scores are on the board; we have already won the match, in Jesus Christ! Please pray this prayer after me: Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for giving me a new beginning. Thank you, Lord, that I can see 2024. I never thought it would happen, but you've given me a new opportunity to make a new start. Lord, by your grace and by the power of the Holy Spirit, I thank you by Faith thatit is going to be the best year of my life so far! In Jesus' Name, amen. Happy New Year!
Did you know that “Joy to the World” was not written as a Christmas carol? In its original form, it had nothing to do with Christmas. It wasn't even written to be a song. Isaac Watts was one of the great hymn writers in church history, and nothing shows that better than the fact that he wrote one of his most famous hymns entirely by accident. In 1719, Watts published a book of poems in which each poem was based on a psalm. One of those poems was an adaptation of Psalm 98, which Watts interpreted as a celebration of Jesus' role as King of both His church and the whole world. More than a century later, the second half of this poem was slightly adapted and set to music to give us what has become one of the most famous of all Christmas carols: Joy to the World. Joy to the world, the Lord is come Let earth receive her King Let every heart prepare Him room And Heaven and nature sing Instead of celebrating the birth of Christ, like most hymns, this carol is all about the triumphant return of Christ. Ponder that as you sing along at home, in the car, or in the pew at church. Christmas is so much more than Jesus' birthday—it's the recognition by believers that Jesus was born, died for our sins, rose again...and that He will return someday to make all things right! Let's pray. Dear Lord Jesus, today we do celebrate your birth. We picture you with your earthly mother and father, Mary and Joseph, and we celebrate you coming into this world. Thank you for renewing our joy and reminding us that you are truly our King of Kings for all time, and you will return to make all things new. It's in your holy name that we pray, amen.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Saturday morning, it is the 25th of November, 2023, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go straight to Hebrews 12:15 in the New Testament "…looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled;…" We need to be so careful that we do not allow a root of bitterness which can cause trouble in a person's life and even sickness. Don't let it grow in your heart. Confess it, pull it out by the roots so that it can have no hold over your life. I remember like yesterday, many, many years ago, after preaching, asking people who are sick in their bodies to come forward for healing. I will never forget this old lady who came forward, and she looked so down and depressed. She knelt at the altar rail and said, "I need prayer for healing". I said, "What is the problem?" She said, "I suffer from migraine headaches terribly, have done for years." I looked at her, and I felt the Holy Spirit say to me, "Don't pray for healing for the headaches. There is unforgiveness in her heart." I said, "Do you have bitterness against someone who has maybe hurt you or disappointed you in the past?" She was very angry with me. She said, "Young man, I did not come here to confess my sins. I came here to be healed from my migraine headaches." Then she just broke down and wept and she said, "Yes, I have. I have had issues of bitterness against someone for years." So, the two of us prayed together. She confessed her sin and she left. I didn't even pray for healing. The next Sunday she came to church. She was a different woman. She was so happy and totally at peace. I said, "And how are you feeling?" She said, "I haven't had one migraine headache since we prayed together last week." Totally healed by Jesus!I would like to pray for you right now. Maybe you are suffering, and there is something in your life you just cannot lay down, that person has hurt you, you have been disappointed at work, and it is forming a root of bitterness. Let's deal with it now and carry on with our lives. Pray this prayer after me please:Dear Lord Jesus,I am convicted today that I have unforgiveness and bitterness in my heart. I forgive that person for hurting me, for disappointing me and today, Lord, I tear out that bitterness by the root that it will have no more part of my life.In Jesus name, Amen!God bless you and have a wonderful Saturday,Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Sunday morning, the 19th of November, 2023, and this is your friend Angus Buchan with a thought for today. We start in the book of Jeremiah 1:9Then the Lord put forth His hand and touched my mouth, and the Lord said to me: "Behold, I have put My words in your mouth."Then we go to the New Testament, John 1:1:In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.The power available to you and me through the spoken Word of God. You know Jesus calmed the storm on the Lake of Galilee with one word! Do you remember that old saying: "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never harm me."? That is so untrue, isn't it? It's the other way around - you can heal quickly from physical wounds, but words said in anger against someone can last long. The Word of God spoken in faith can move mountains."Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; But we will remember the name of the Lord our God."Psalm 20:7John G. Lake, the American evangelist, used to say that when you get up in the morning, and you get ready for work, and you are combing your hair, and you look into that mirror, you say to the person looking back at you - God lives in that person, and wherever that person goes today, God is going with them! If Christ is for you, there's no man that can stand against you."And by His stripes we are healed."Isaiah 53:5I want to pray a word of healing over your body today. I want to join my faith with your faith and believe for the power of healing through the spoken Word of God. Pray this prayer after me. Maybe put your hand on that area of your body where you are suffering. Perhaps you are suffering from migraine headaches - put your hand on your head. Maybe it's your back that's giving you trouble. Maybe it's a knee - pray this prayer after me. Dear Lord Jesus, I know that you are my Healer. Today, by Faith, I speak the Word of healing over my body, over my soul and over my spirit. I thank you for healing me, in Jesus' name, amen.Have a wonderful Sunday. God bless you and goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name. It is Monday morning, the 14th of August 2023, and this is your friend Angus Buchan with a thought for today. We start in Ecclesiastes 1:9:That which has been is what will be,That which is done is what will be done,And there is nothing new under the sun.Spoken by the wisest man who has ever lived, King Solomon, the son of King David. You see, he was absolutely correct up to that time in the World, but we always say: "But God" right? But everything changed when God came down to Earth as a little defenceless baby - Emmanuel, 'God with us'. A member of the governing body of Israel, a highly educated and respected man by the name of Nicodemus, came to Jesus by night so that no man would see him asking for advice from Jesus, the Carpenter from Nazareth. He wanted to know how Jesus could perform the incredible miracles that no one had ever before seen on Earth. The answer was something that this old World had never heard before not even from the time of Solomon, who said there is nothing new under the sun. Jesus answered Nicodemus and said, in John 3:3:"... I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God."Then again, in John 3:7 he said you must be born again - Something very beautiful and something very new! I want to tell you today that you need to be born again. It is a biblical term spoken by God himself - I was born again on the 18th of February 1979, 44 years ago, and my life has never been the same again.I would like to pray with you this morning. Maybe you have never heard of this before, or you have, and the cares of this World have blinded you. You have forgotten Jesus did something absolutely brand new. He said:Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. You'll find that in 2 Corinthians 5:17. Why not pray this prayer with me and go out today as a brand new person? Dear Lord Jesus, I believe that the Bible is the Word of God. Jesus said I must be born again. Today, Lord, I repent. In Jesus' Name, Amen.Prayer if we are having a hard time actively loving people the way Jesus would: Dear Lord Jesus, I just pray that you would give me a heart to love the way you have loved me, the way you have loved the world, the way you love your people. Have you been saved by Jesus? Salvation is the deliverance from sin and death that comes through faith in Jesus Christ. Through His death and resurrection, Jesus overcame sin and death, and gave us the opportunity to have eternal life. Revelation 1:18 says, “I am the Living One. I was dead, but look, I am alive forever. I have power over death and hell.” As believers, we can have confidence that our salvation is secure in Jesus Christ. No matter what happens during our temporary earthly lives, we can be sure of our eternal destiny. This knowledge gives us lasting peace, and hope that transcends our present circumstances. The power of salvation also gives us, through God's grace, the ability to overcome sin and withstand temptation. And by obedience to the Holy Spirit, we can daily try to live a life more like Jesus, and grow in our faith. If you haven't yet received the salvation that Jesus offers, we invite you to do so today. Simply believe in Him, ask forgiveness for your sins, and ask Him to be the Lord of your life. A personal relationship with Jesus is a gift that lasts for all eternity. Let's pray. Dear Lord Jesus, we thank You for the power of salvation that comes through faith in You. Help us to live a life that is pleasing to You, and to share this message of hope with others. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.
