Beauty and the Beat Review by Stephen Thomas Erlewine It's not quite right to say that the Go-Go's' 1981 debut, Beauty and the Beat, is where new wave caught hold in the U.S., but it's not quite wrong, either. Prior to this, there had certainly been new wave hits -- Blondie had been reaching the Top Ten for two years running -- but the Go-Go's ushered in the era of big, bright stylish pop, spending six weeks at the top of the U.S. charts and generating two singles that defined the era: the cool groove of “Our Lips Are Sealed” and the exuberant “We Got the Beat.” So big were these two hits that they sometimes suggested that Beauty and the Beat was a hits-and-filler record, an impression escalated by the boost the Go-Go's received from the just-launched MTV, yet that's hardly the case. Beauty and the Beat is sharp, clever, and catchy, explicitly drawing from the well of pre-Beatles ‘60s pop -- girl group harmonies, to be sure, but surf-rock echoes throughout -- but filtering it through the nervy energy of punk. With the assistance of Rob Freeman, producer Richard Gottehrer -- a veteran of the Strangeloves (“I Want Candy”) who also wrote the girl group standard “My Boyfriend's Back” -- sanded down the band's rougher edges, keeping the emphasis on the hooks and harmonies but giving the Go-Go's enough kick and jangle that at times the group resembles nothing less than early R.E.M., particularly on “How Much More” and “Tonite.” But this isn't Murmur; there is nothing murky about Beauty and the Beat at all -- this is infectiously cheerful pop, so hooky it's sometimes easy to overlook how well-written these tunes are, but it's the sturdiness of the songs that makes Beauty and the Beat a new wave classic.

How Much More? - Katia Adams by
Matthew 7: 7 - 12 and Luke 12:22. It's January and we've come off the back of December with money challenges. What does God have to say on the topic of money? Does he have a view? Should He have something to say about how we spend? In this series entitled ‘How Much More', we look at how God can be magnified through the seemingly small things of life. Although money is not a small thing to us, God can make the way we use it seem small when we see the greater things He can do with it. There is ‘So Much More' to God than we realise.

When you pray, are you close? We often focus on persistence in prayer, overlooking the promise we've been given of proximity. God is close to us. His word reminds us that He draws near to His children. In today's message, Speaker and Author, Lisa Harper, shares the promise we have in prayer in this message “How Much More.” This week, pave the way for children going back to school at our annual I Love My City Back to School Drive. Luke 23:50-54 (NIV) – [50] Now there was a man named Joseph, a member of the Council, a good and upright man, [51] who had not consented to their decision and action. He came from the Judean town of Arimathea and he was waiting for the kingdom of God. [52] Going to Pilate, he asked for Jesus’ body. [53] Then he took it down, wrapped it in linen cloth and placed it in a tomb cut in the rock, one in which no one had yet been laid. [54] It was Preparation Day, and the Sabbath was about to begin. Luke 24:1-6 (NIV) – [1] On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. [2] They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, [3] but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. [4] While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. [5] In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? [6] He is not here; he has risen! Empty Cross + Empty Tomb = Full Life John 10:10 (NIV) – [10] The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. Full (perissos) means overflow, beyond measure, superabundant in quantity or superior in quality, exceedingly abundantly above. (Strong’s) John 10:10 (MSG) – [10] A thief is only there to steal and kill and destroy. I came so they can have real and eternal life, more and better life than they ever dreamed of. Matthew 14:20-21 (NIV) – [20] They all ate and were SATISFIED, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were LEFT OVER. 1. A life full of satisfaction Luke 6:45 (NIV) – [45] The good man brings good things out of the GOOD stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the OVERFLOW of his heart his mouth speaks. 2. A life full of goodness Romans 5:15 (NIV) – [15] But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God’s grace and the gift that came by the GRACE of the one man, Jesus Christ, OVERFLOW to the many! 3. A life full of grace Romans 15:13 (NIV) – [13] May the God of HOPE fill you with all JOY and PEACE as you trust in him, so that you may OVERFLOW with HOPE by the power of the Holy Spirit. 4. A life full of hope, joy, and peace 2 Corinthians 1:5 (NIV) – [5] For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our COMFORT OVERFLOWS. 5. A life full of comfort 2 Corinthians 3:8 (NIV) – [9] If the ministry that condemns men is glorious, HOW MUCH MORE glorious is the ministry that brings RIGHTEOUSNESS! 6. A life full of righteousness 2 Corinthians 4:15 (NIV) – [15] All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause THANKSGIVING to OVERFLOW to the glory of God. 7. A life full of thanksgiving 2 Corinthians 9:8 (NIV) – [8] And God is able to make all GRACE ABOUND to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. 8. A life full of grace Philippians 4:12-13 (NIV) – [12] I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have PLENTY. I have learned the secret of being CONTENT in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in PLENTY or in want. [13] I can do everything through him who gives me strength. 9. A life full of contentment 1 Thessalonians 3:12 (NIV) – [12] May the Lord make your LOVE increase and OVERFLOW for each other and for everyone else, just as ours does for you. 10. A life full of love

The phrase "How much more" is use many times in the Bible. Luke 12:24 says "Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds!" The point here is that Luke is saying that God takes care of the ravens, so he will also take care of you and that people are more valuable to Him than birds. In the same way, Paul mentions in Romans 5:10 that "we were reconciled to him by the death of his Son, how much more (valuable), having already been reconciled, are we saved by His life"? Contrary to most Christian teaching, we are not saved by the death of Christ, for the forgiveness of our sins. Rather we are saved by the life of Christ living in us. As Major Ian Thomas says "Jesus cleared the deck for the divine act of giving life to the dead". Listen in as Mike and Kevin more about these important verses.

We've all lost something at one time or another. If it hasn't been money, it's been time, relationships, opportunity, peace, or HOPE. Well, today we begin to GET IT BACK! Today we're fasting from the thought that says, "How could I ever recover from this loss?" LET THIS PERMEATE YOUR MIND: GOD IS A GOD OF RESTORATION Joel 2:25–26 says, “I will restore the years that have been lost.” Whether it's lost years, lost opportunity, lost finances, bad decisions, or what others have done to you—God will restore. He is the God of restoration. DITCH THE MENTALITY OF SETTLING We must refuse to settle. The ten lepers wouldn't settle for their leprosy (Luke 17:11-19). They cried out to Jesus. The woman with the demon-possessed daughter wouldn't settle with her daughter's condition (Matthew 15:22). Bartimaeus wouldn't settle with blindness (Mark 10:46-52). He wouldn't stop until he recovered his sight. REFUSE to settle for the way things are, and choose the pursuit of God. REALIZE THAT GOD WANTS YOU TO GO TO HIM AND TO ASK HIM TO AVENGE YOU In Luke 18, the unjust judge avenged the widow because of her persistence. HOW MUCH MORE will our just and loving God avenge His children! ALL THE PROMISES OF GOD ARE YES He has promised restoration and recovery—so ask Him for them TODAY. God wants you to recover more than you do. Believe this. BELIEVE THE PROMISE: THE THIEF HAS TO REPAY SEVEN-FOLD WHAT HE'S STOLEN The devil is the thief. And Jesus has defeated him. He has given us authority over him. You have the right to get your stuff back. Jesus paid for it. Whatever good thing that has been lost in your life is coming back. PROPHESY TO THE DRY BONES IN YOUR LIFE Speak to whatever is lost and command it to come back. Use your words. Job 22:28 says, “I shall decree a thing and it will be so.” EXPECT RECOVERY! “You shall surely overtake your enemies and you shall recover all” (1 Samuel 30:8). Restoration and the recovery of what has been lost in our lives is a divine promise. Stand on it today. THINK IT AND SAY IT I will recover all that has been lost in my life. I expect the restoration of lost relationships, lost money, lost hope, and lost opportunities. I will not settle for loss and lack. God will avenge me. He will restore what has been stolen from me. I ask Him and expect Him to avenge me of all that has been lost in my life. I call forth a seven-fold return of what has been taken from me, in Jesus' Name! --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/felicia721/message

If Jesus asked you, “What do you want?” would you be able to answer Him? If yes, would you be able to answer Him confidently? If you have a big, audacious dream in your heart, more likely than not, God is the one that put it there. You may think it's selfish or ridiculous, but the truth is that He cares more about that dream than you do because it is a part of His grander plan. Going after your dreams and asking God for your big dreams can often feel uncomfortable and have you question if it's even possible. That's where confidence comes into play. Author of How Much More and coach to creatives, Molly Wilcox, believes that God's best for you is better than you think, and all it takes is a little confidence to feel equipped to live the life God has called you to live with boldness and bravery. So grab your coffee or tea and cozy in as we talk about how to go to God and pursue your dream with complete confidence. "It's not quite right to say that the Go-Go's' 1981 debut, Beauty and the Beat, is where new wave caught hold in the U.S., but it's not quite wrong, either. With the assistance of Rob Freeman, producer Richard Gottehrer -- a veteran of the Strangeloves (“I Want Candy”) who also wrote the girl group standard “My Boyfriend's Back” -- sanded down the band's rougher edges, keeping the emphasis on the hooks and harmonies but giving the Go-Go's enough kick and jangle that at times the group resembles nothing less than early R.E.M., particularly on “How Much More” and “Tonite.” But this isn't Murmur; there is nothing murky about Beauty and the Beat at all -- this is infectiously cheerful pop, so hooky it's sometimes easy to overlook how well-written these tunes are, but it's the sturdiness of the songs that makes Beauty and the Beat a new wave classic." - Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All MusicSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/polyphonic-press1229/donations

“Therefore let us [with privilege] approach the throne of grace [that is, the throne of God's gracious favor] with confidence and without fear, so that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find [His amazing] grace to help in time of need [an appropriate blessing, coming just at the right moment].”Hebrews 4:16 AMPHow many times have we gone to God with half prayers, never truly believing He will answer us to the fullest? We go to Him with outstretched hands begging for something, anything that He can spare.“God if you could just help me pay this one bill, pay half the rent, buy this old vehicle, please Lord, anything you can spare. I know I don't deserve it...”Hearing it like that may sound a bit over the top, but its so true. Many times we find ourselves pleading and begging God for help instead of boldly believing that He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we could ask or even imagine! :) I love how the amplified Bible words it, “Now to Him who is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams], according to His power that is at work within us,”Ephesians 3:20 AMPBe encouraged today! He doesn't want to help you only with one bill, He wants to provide for all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus! He wants you to have the best! He is your Heavenly Father and He loves you - more than you could ever dream or imagine! You are ever before Him, on His mind! The Bible says if you were to try and count God's precious thoughts toward you, they are innumerable like the sand on the seashore! (Psalm 139)The Bible says, if your son asks you for bread, will you give him a stone? It goes on later to say, so then you, who posess an evil nature, know how to give good gifts to your children, therefore HOW MUCH MORE will He give good things to those who ask Him! (Matthew 7:7-11)Today, as you go before your Heavenly Father, come boldly before His throne and believe that he is able and willing to do far above all you could ever imagine in your life! He wants to! His Word is His will! :) In Christ,Joshua Scott Zeitz

Acts 26:29 “Paul replied, “Short time or long – I pray to God that not only you, but all who are listening to me today, may become what I am, except for these chains…” The Prayer of Persistence pt 4The past few days, we have been talking about persistent prayer. Yesterday, we were looking at what Jesus was saying in Luke 18:1-8. Let's look at these verses again. “And he told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not lose heart. He said, “In a certain city there was a judge who neither feared God nor respected man. And there was a widow in that city who kept coming to him and saying, ‘Give me justice against my adversary.' For a while he refused, but afterward he said to himself, ‘Though I neither fear God nor respect man, yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will give her justice, so that she will not beat me down by her continual coming.'” And the Lord said, “Hear what the unrighteous judge says. And will not God give justice to his elect, who cry to him day and night? Will he delay long over them? I tell you, he will give justice to them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?” We left off yesterday with an understanding of God answering the cries of His people speedily. We were talking about this is not applied to requesting help with your finances or material things. Jesus is emphasizing here that God will speedily answer the cries of His elect as they are being persecuted. That is the emphasis of this parable, not all of the other hyperbole that prosperity preachers and others have put on this scripture. For instance, some people believe this passage of scripture is saying that if we have unsaved loved ones, if we keep praying long enough and hard enough, eventually, we will wear God down to the point that He will answer our prayers just to shut us up. But that is NOT what this verse is implying. Others think these verses talk about God meeting some personal need or financial need. That if they just keep praying long enough and hard enough, we will wear God down and He will rain money down from Heaven just to shut us up. But that is NOT the case either, is it? Jesus is not talking about persistent faith to wear God out so He will answer our prayers. He IS saying, that if believers will be persistent in faith, HOW MUCH MORE will God avenge them as compared to how the unjust judged avenged the widow woman. HOW MUCH MORE. Amen! But, as verse one says, it is the PERSISTENCE of Faith, not the persistence of doubt, that causes God to respond and avenge his elect. To take scriptures out of context, out of their actual settings and try to apply them to other areas will cause us more harm than good. The main thought of Luke 18 is that men should always pray and not faint – not quit praying. To quit praying is easy. To keep praying – even in the face of adversity and persecution, that takes FAITH. Amen! Let's Pray! In this third installment of our Reflection Series, brothers Nik, Judah, Payton, and Gabriel lead us in reflecting on Sunday's Remember: Step Three message. We recall that just as the Lord delivered the Israelites out of the bondage to Egypt and through the desert wanderings, he "MOREOVER" delivers his people to destroy every remaining giant in the land. The same goes for us church! Although we have been delivered from Egypt and are now walking in the promise. we have been alerted to the remaining giants in the land that are still hidden survivors that we must get to partner with God to destroy. This makes the Lord stirring up the hornet in our midst all the more a blessing, helping us identify our targets to drive them out of our land completely. The brothers encourage us in the same way that Paul encouraged Titus, Timothy, and the church in Rome. Much right order with God and man, much power over sin as you pursue righteousness!

Scripture For Today: Nehemiah 6:9 “They were all trying to frighten us, thinking, “Their hands will get too weak for the work, and it will not be completed.” But I prayed, “Now strengthen my hands.” Ask and You Shall Receive pt 3 The past couple of days, I've been teaching on “Ask and you shall receive” as outlined in Matthew 7:7-11. We ended yesterday's teaching on the misconception that it is God's will for us to be poor, sick and destitute in order to keep us humble. We covered what Jesus taught which is totally 100% opposite of that idea. Amen. It would be like asking God to make our kids sick because that is His will and we want them to be blessed. So the sicker and the poorer He can keep them then the more blessed they will be. That sounds stupid just saying it, doesn't it? But yet, if we take the view that many denominations and misguided pastors have taught, which is “prosperity is of the devil,” then the only conclusion you can arrive at is, “poorer is better.” And it just isn't so. Not according to God. Not according to Jesus and the Bible is very, very clear on the matter. But, just to show you, Matthew is not the only place this is discussed. You can see the exact same thing in Luke 11:11-13. Jesus said, “Which of you fathers, if your son asks for[https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Luke%2011:11-13&version=NIV#fen-NIV-25417a (a)] a fish, will give him a snake instead? 12 Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? 13 If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” Notice those words are listed again. “HOW MUCH MORE?” The only difference here is Matthew did not refer to the Holy Spirit. Luke did. He said, “HOW MUCH MORE will your FATHER give GOOD THINGS (notice – not bad things…and WHO is He giving them to?)… TO THEM THAT ASK HIM!” And, as we have discussed in detail in our sessions about the Holy Spirit, He is one of those GOOD THINGS we can have – IF we ask God to send Him to us! Praise God! If we ask God for bread, we have His guarantee that He will not give us a stone to naw on for dinner. Amen! If we ask for a fish, He's not going to send us a snake! If we ask for an egg, He won't send us a scorpion. God does not, will not and just plain WON'T – send us something evil to torment us. That is of the devil. God, our Heavenly Father, gives us GOOD THINGS. Amen! And, no matter what good thing you ask of Him, we have the written words of Jesus as a guarantee, that God will provide MUCH MORE than we can ask Him for. MUCH MORE than we can even ask or think! Amen! Let's Pray! Scripture For Today: 1 Kings 8:30 “Hear the supplication of your servant and of your people Israel when they pray toward this place. Hear from heaven, your dwelling place, and when you hear, forgive.” Ask and You Shall Receive pt 2 One thing that we, as westerners, have a hard time with is interpreting the Bible into the culture and setting of the day in which the Bible was set. Jesus was talking in terms that the people of His day and time understood. He could use the parables such as the “wheat and the tares” and everyone understood what He was talking about. The scripture we used yesterday from Matthew 7:7-11 is a very good example of how our educated minds have misinterpreted something that the average Jewish person, 2000 years ago, understood completely! Amen! Let's go over this scripture again. “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. 9 “Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11 If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him?” The Jewish people living in Jesus time (and even to this day) understand that when you pray to God, the minute you ASKED HIM something is the exact minute He answers your prayer. They understand that the very next thing out of your mouth should be to PRAISE HIM for the answered prayer! Our western, “educated” minds, want to SEE the results first. Then praise God. But that is not Faith! We need to BELIEVE WE RECEIVE WHEN WE PRAY just like Mark 11 says. Amen. The Jewish person understands that when a person knocks on the door, if he is known to the master of the house, he is immediately let inside. Back in the day, the master of the house would have servants. If you knocked on the door, a servant was sent to answer it. If you were known to the master, if you have come in and gone out before, you were IMMEDIATELY let inside. If you were a stranger, the servant would report who you were to the master and then be told whether to let you inside or not. That is why Jesus said, “Knock and IT SHALL be opened unto you!” Why? Because you are KNOWN TO GOD if you are in right standing with Jesus Christ! Praise God! Are you getting this? Oh, wait, it gets better! When Jesus said, “Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11 If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him?” He summarized his teaching on “ask and you shall receive” with this very important example… The part I want to draw your attention to is “HOW MUCH MORE!” Those three words are put there, by Jesus, for a reason. What parent wants their kids to go without? What parent wants their kids to live like beggars their entire life? I mean, if poverty or lack is the blessing so many Christians seem to think it is (when they are offended because someone has more than they do or are believing God for more in their life) – then WHY NOT ask God to keep your kids poor, broke and homeless? Surely, that MUST be a blessing! Right? I mean, if being well off is such an evil thing, surely, not having anything at all must draw you closer to God and that means you are blessed! And why believe for healing and good health for your kids. Let's ask God to keep them sick and poor. Talk about being close to God! Is that what you want? NO! What Jesus is saying is, “IF YOU, being evil, KNOW how to bless your kids…” Now – get this next part…watch it…read...
We've all lost something at one time or another. If it hasn't been money, it's been time, relationships, opportunity, peace, or HOPE. Well, today we begin to GET IT BACK! Today we're fasting from the thought that says, "How could I ever recover from this loss?" LET THIS PERMEATE YOUR MIND: GOD IS A GOD OF RESTORATION Joel 2:25–26 says, "I will restore the years that have been lost."Whether it’s lost years, lost opportunity, lost finances, bad decisions, or what others have done to you—God will restore. He is the God of restoration. DITCH THE MENTALITY OF SETTLING We must refuse to settle. The ten lepers wouldn’t settle for their leprosy (Luke 17:11-19). They cried out to Jesus. The woman with the demon-possessed daughter wouldn’t settle with her daughter’s condition (Matthew 15:22). Bartimaeus wouldn’t settle with blindness (Mark 10:46-52). He wouldn’t stop until he recovered his sight. Job 22:28 says, "I shall decree a thing and it will be so." EXPECT RECOVERY! "You shall surely overtake your enemies and you shall recover all" (1 Samuel 30:8). Restoration and the recovery of what has been lost in our lives is a divine promise. Stand on it today. THINK IT AND SAY IT!!! I will recover all that has been lost in my life. I expect the restoration of lost relationships, lost money, lost hope, and lost opportunities. I will not settle for loss and lack. God will avenge me. He will restore what has been stolen from me. I ask Him and expect Him to avenge me of all that has been lost in my life. I call forth a seven-fold return of what has been taken from me, in Jesus’ Name! --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/felicia721/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/felicia721/support

Racing, riding, being nice... the question is, HOW MUCH MORE?
Paul wrote in 2 Timothy 4:1-8 In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge: 2 Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction. 3 For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. 4 They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. 5 But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry. 6 For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time for my departure is near. 7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Today’s podcast is titled: ETERNAL LIFE I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly–John 10:10 BUT What Is Life? Among all the mysteries which surround us there is none deeper than the mystery of life. We recognize life by a thousand evidences, & yet we don’t know what it is. When we see the surging crowd on the streets under the glaring lights of a great city; when we watch the children in their lighthearted playing come pouring out from the school when it’s over, we whisper to ourselves, What is life? And yet, though it looks at us through countless eyes and speaks to us through so many voices, what that life is which is so manifested remains one of the hidden things of God. We probe for it , and it flees from us. We have our hand on it, and it escapes. It meets us in the surging of the city and in the quietness of nature’s solitude. And yet this life, familiar as the sunshine and common as the sand upon the shore–what is it? We don’t know what it is. If Life Is a Mystery, than HOW Much More of This is True of Life Eternal Now if that is true of all life, as we encounter it in common days, So much more we can expect it to be true of what the Scripture calls eternal life. That may be something THAT we can perceive. It may be something that we can enjoy. It may have qualities which flash upon us and tell us that eternal life is there. But if life in any tiniest weed is something unfathomable and untouchable, eternal life must be a secret too. If a child’s storybook in a foreign tongue is given TO you and you cannot understand a word of it, it is UNlikely that you will comprehend a poem in that language. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/christian-rider-ministry/message
Most people want to feel like the matter. At some point, we all wonder if our hurts, our wants, and our efforts are noticed. More than that, we want to know if God knows; if God cares. Our text contains a great truth. It reveals an insight into the very nature of God. In teaching this lesson, Jesus does not reference a scripture but appeals to the natural human emotions of relationships. He asks about responding to our children’s needs and safety, about helping a lost animal. The lesson is trying to make a connection between His world and our world. It is hard for us to understand how much God loves us. It is difficult for us to comprehend that God has such care and love for His creation. We should not be afraid to bring our needs to Him but to come boldly to ask for help in times of need. As parents, we do not mock our children’s needs. We do our best to meet that need. So it is, with God. He does not mock our needs, but to meet those needs. We are often our own worst enemy. We put ourselves down and beat ourselves up over our mistakes. God understands these mistakes and wants to help us get past them. As humans, we know how to take care of those that we love. If we do that, how much more will God take care of His creation? God will not mock or ridicule but will pour out His mercy and grace. God does not want to leave us in our failure. He loves us enough to reach out and help us up. Why is it that we doubt God’s love? Why is it that we think that God’s love does not apply to us? For the soul that needs Him, for the one who has wandered away, His love is there. No one cares for us like Jesus. We cannot imagine not doing something to help those that we love. If we as sinners feel that way, how much more will God help us?

What Is The Link To The Supernatural? – PART 1 Ewoc sermon – 12.9.2018 The bible says, in Romans 8:24 24 For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have? 1. Live in a Daily Expectancy of Miracles GOD IS THE SOURCE, AND HE INTENDS US TO LOOK TO HIM FIRST AND FOREMOST IN MEETING OUR NEEDS. Are you living in a daily EXPECTATION OF MIRACLES? Jesus says in…. Matthew 7:11 (NLT) 11 So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, HOW MUCH MORE will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him. Hebrews 11:6 (NKJV) 6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He Is A Rewarder of those who diligently seek Him 2. Raise Your Level of Expectancy 3. Faith Is The Foundation Upon Which Hope Is Built Hebrews 11:1(AMP) Now faith is the assurance (title deed, confirmation) of things hoped for (divinely guaranteed), and the evidence of things not seen [the conviction of their reality—faith comprehends as fact what cannot be experienced by the physical senses]. Romans 4:18-21 (NLT) 18 Even when there was no reason for hope, Abraham kept hoping—believing that he would become the father of many nations. For God had said to him, “That’s how many descendants you will have!” 19 And Abraham’s faith did not weaken, even though, at about 100 years of age, he figured his body was as good as dead—and so was Sarah’s womb. 20 Abraham never wavered in believing God’s promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God.21 He was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever he promises. God had a great idea to ensure a healthy relationship between himself and His creation by setting aside one day in seven to get together and spend the day celebrating LIFE. That was before sin and will continue after sin is cleansed from the universe. If this was important to our relationship with God when no sin is present to destroy that relationship, HOW MUCH MORE do we need to be spending this time with God now.

Reading the parables of Jesus can sometimes be confusing. If we try to make them into exact allegories, God ends up looking grumpy at best and capricious at worst. Drawing from Luke 11:1-21, Chris Morton asks”is there a better way?” Quotes and links mentioned: “I dislike allegory in all its manifestations, and always have done so since I grew old … Read More → The post How Much More (2016.08.14 Sermon) appeared first on Austin Mustard Seed.
What is the number one thing that keeps you from receiving what you have asked for in prayer? Be a person who prays for things (that are worth praying about) and doesn't give up (until you have an answer from God). What is wrong in your world that is worthy of crying out to God for? Don't lose heart. Keep on praying until God gives you an answer, trusting in His wisdom and goodness. If persistence is enough to get an unjust judge to answer, then HOW MUCH MORE... What would you do differently on Monday if you really believed this? What would happen if you persisted in prayer and didn't lose heart?

Feb 13, 2011: How Much More from Summitview Community Church on Vimeo.God is familiar with the density of the human head and, at times, He remedies the situation with a rhetorical hammer. One such hammer is the "How Much More?" device used throughout the bible. The argument goes like this..."if we see this good result from these limited conditions, how much more should we expect a great result under better conditions." "If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” (Luke 11:13)"But if God so clothes the grass, which is alive in the field today, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith!" (Luke 12:28)In Genesis 14, we begin to see Abram's distinctive life emerge from the soil of God's promises. His reckless love for Lot, his willing proclamation of God's ownership and his rejection of greedy and self-sufficient ways stand out like a redwood in Times Square. But, here is the kicker, he had less than we do. He heard mysterious promises and we've see their fulfillment. Abram knew God was up to something big and we know it was the redemption of His people through the slaughter of His Son. Abram witnessed God's faithfulness in his circumstances and we have seen it demonstrated on the Cross. And, so, here comes the hammer... if Abram was motivated to such great love, worship and rejection of sin by these mysterious promises (Genesis 12:1-3), how much more should we be, knowing their fulfillment in Christ?Thankfully this hammer, like all hammers, has a purpose greater than noise (or guilt). It's purpose is to drive a nail and that nail, it seems, is a life driven deep into the world proclaiming that, by God's grace, "things can be different."how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God.
