    In this episode, Josh and Chris get very topical and discuss the History of Afghanistan, the history of the Soviet Union occupation, and the rise of the Taliban and other Mujahideen groups. Part I takes you through the history of Afghanistan from the Sykes-Picot Agreement in 1916 to the 9/11 attacks in 2001. Josh and Chris break down how the USSR invaded Afghanistan and why their reasons for entering the country almost guaranteed that they wouldn’t be successful in any meaningful way. We also discuss the history of how the US backed armed militia groups in the region to foment insurrection and why the US never learned the lesson of the Russians when they invaded Afghanistan in 2001.
