AJ's back for Part 2 — and it starts with the obvious question: how bad was the Wilson car park damage? ($300… and they basically gave up issuing tickets.)Then AJ tells the story of his return to Forsyth Barr Stadium years later, this time asked to suit up as William Wallace again for a halftime dance comp (with an iPad on the line)… except he stops at a student flat, turns a “warm-up” into a full bottle of vodka, and the whole mission spirals.From falling over at a crossing and losing his gear, to roaming the stadium yelling Braveheart quotes, to pulling himself into the marketing room and spewing on the costume, it's an absolute trainwreck. I was thrilled to see a recent post on Emily's Instagram that she made a YouTube video about this spin/knit. I plied up about 8.5grams of the BFL with the Finnsheep. 23 wraps (690 inches/19 yards) .3 ounces / around 8.5 grams I've been keeping my wheel next to my spot on the couch and spinning if not every day, then more days than not.   Handspun documentation I went through nearly all of my handspun skeins of yarn. I made updates in each page on Ravelry to add skein information. You can enter length and weight and it add that to your stash.  I also ended up changing the names of the finished projects to include the weight and length! I wrote yarn weight (dk sport etc) on physical tags i have on the yarn. So much easier for me to work with.   Brainstorming I have 3 skeins of Lion Brand Fisherman's Wool that I used to start a Waverly Cardigan (but the gauge is just too tight)- click here for my Ravelry Project Page. I think it might be good for the Lakes Pullover by Ozetta (Ravelry Pattern- $8 knitting pattern). I found this by searching the yarn on ravelry then doing the advance pattern search to look for sweaters people knit with this yarn. Related- Eileen recently asked if someone in our group had knit a certain pattern she had questions about before purchasing/committing to. If you look at the pattern on Rav and click the Projects Tab. You can use the filters there to select "Made by Group Members" and then click on the Rav group you want to look in. They were making a stuffed animal to look like a stage like and had everything done but the center bulk part. Aila also ended up working on it with us.   OMG Sock Classes are finished! All of my students turned their heels, some did both socks. Many did their toes and kitchenered. Friday date nights with Dan Running into Riley & her bestie Ellie at Lucky Finn, my current local favorite coffee shop- after the gym on a Saturday morning. It was so hilarious! Very much enjoyed Pluribus on Apple TV+.  Seeing Millie in Finding Nemo Jr. and an early dinner after with family. Mani/pedis with Megg, Eme & Hattie for Hattie's birthday. Super Bowl- while we lost it's always fun to watch. I enjoyed the commercials, and had fun cheering on the Seahawks kicker Jason Myers who played football at Marist where I went to college (now Marist University) Hattie's 8th birthday dinner. Rhubarb compote 100g castor sugar 250g rhubarb, chopped into 1cm pieces Zest and juice of 1 orange Splash of gin ( optional)Cook the sugar and orange zest and juice until the sugar has dissolved over medium heat. Add the rhubarb, cover with parchment and simmer gently until just cooked – really only a couple of minutes.Turn off and cool.Pastry 225g plain flour 100g butter 60g icing sugar 1 egg 1 egg yolkRub the flour, butter and sugar together until the mixture resembles fine crumbs ( do this in a food processor if you wish). Mix the egg and the yolk and add to make a dough. Wrap in cling and chill for an hour.Strawberry jam Lightly butter 2 tartlet tins and set oven to 180oc. Roll the pastry out until thin and cut out rounds to fit in the hole. Chop half the rhubarb and mix with an equal amount of jam. Spoon into the pastry and bake for 15 minutes. Cool and remove from tins. Serve with a dollop of the cream. Coconut custard cream 225 ml milk 2 egg yolks 75 g caster sugar 10 g plain flour, sieved 10g cornflour Simmer the milk. Whisk the egg yolks, sugar, cornflour and flour and then pour over milk. Whisk well and return to pan over low heat. Stir constantly until custard is thick. Pour into a bowl and cover surface with cling, cool and chill. 25g desiccated coconut 250ml double cream Spread the coconut onto a baking tray lined with parchment and cook in a 180oc oven for about 5 minutes or until golden. Cool. Whip the cream, fold in the cold custard and coconut.

This time: Quiche and Cornbread with Guest Sharon. If you cook along, you need the following: Quiche Ingredients: One unbaked 9inch deep pie crust, Aluminum foil pie weight such as dried beans or dried rice for baking. Custard filling ingredients: 4 Eggs 1 and 1/3 Cups Half and half-you can substitute whole milk-Do not use skim milk. Salt and fresh pepper to taste Filling ingredients: Eight strips bacon or cubed ham 1 and 1/3 Cups Shredded cheese Fresh or dried chives to garnish If you make a second quiche, substitute bacon for spinach. Second quiche filling: 1 1/3 cup chopped and spinach-dried thoroughly cooked. One and 1/3 cup cubed smoked Gouda cheese.
