And I can tell you right now, even if you're not on the platform teaching it, when you're in the community, you're absolutely part of something. Lesley Logan 0:11 Welcome to the Be It Till You See It podcast where we talk about taking messy action, knowing that perfect is boring. I'm Lesley Logan, Pilates instructor and fitness business coach. I've trained thousands of people around the world and the number one thing I see stopping people from achieving anything is self-doubt. My friends, action brings clarity and it's the antidote to fear. Each week, my guest will bring bold, executable, intrinsic and targeted steps that you can use to put yourself first and Be It Till You See It. It's a practice, not a perfect. Let's get started.Lesley Logan 0:53 Welcome back to the Be It Till You See It interview recap where my co-host in life, Brad, and I are going to dig into the invigorating convo, the chaotic convo, the most amazing, we have the most guests ever, convo with the OPC teachers, minus Tami, but we'll have her on in a couple of weeks. If you haven't yet listened to that interview, you are missing out on some giggles and some fun. And I'm just so glad that Brad, if you guys are watching this on YouTube, I apologize for all the moving, because I asked Brad with my eyes, if we were ready for this. Brad Crowell 1:21 You asked me with your eyes? Lesley Logan 1:22 Yes. And you did a you did an acknowledgement. Brad Crowell 1:25 I'm just making sure you're on the screen. Lesley Logan 1:27 Yeah. And if you are listening to this, just so you know, you will not get motion sickness like everyone else is right now. Okay, he's settled. We're settled. Brad Crowell 1:34 Sunglasses. Lesley Logan 1:37 Okay, now, now we're all just experiencing what ADD and ADHD looks like in the same room. This is a lot. This is confusing. I'm gone, now I've lost track. Okay, let's bring this bus back on the road. So you should listen to the OPC teachers, because they're so fun. We had five of us. Well, I guess me. Brad Crowell 1:56 You count, you're a teacher. Lesley Logan 1:58 I know. So we're. Brad Crowell 1:59 Six out of seven. Lesley Logan 1:59 Six out of seven. We were missing Tami. It's really hard to get all the time zones to work, guys, so I was pretty proud of us to get six, but we'll have Tami on because we actually have really fun thing coming up with her later this year. So, at any rate. Brad Crowell 2:08 Yasmin lives in Germany, you know. Lesley Logan 2:11 I know. And guess whose internet was the one that was fucked up? Ours. So anyways, not that Germany has bad internet, but I'm just saying, like out of all the time zones, I just was having some problems. They were talking without me. They planned a whole trip while I was just, bye, disappered. Brad Crowell 2:23 Yeah, I know you popped back on and they were like, yep, we're just making plans. We're gonna get together. Lesley Logan 2:27 Yeah, they're having an overnight, that's what the OPC teachers do. They love summer parties and anything that brings community together. So you'll just want to listen to that one, but first we'll recap it, and then you can go back and listen. So this is what happens when I take over. I actually know the day, but I'm going to do it anyways, because I know what I wrote. So today is May 1st 2025, and it's Couple Appreciation Day. Brad Crowell 2:47 That's fun. Lesley Logan 2:47 Couple Appreciation Day, just so you know, on May 1st there's 40 other holidays. I had a lot of things I could choose from, but Couple Appreciation Day.Brad Crowell 2:54 Lesley produced, partly produced this episode. Lesley Logan 2:56 I did, I did. It's going to be a mess. So Couple Appreciation Day is celebrated on May 1st whether you've just started dating or you've been married for many years, it's important to appreciate your partner now and then. Celebrating the milestones you've passed and looking to more happy years in the future helps keep the romance alive. Even the smallest of gestures can make an impact. Do the chore so your partner can relax or prepare a nice meal when they come home exhausted from work. Romance doesn't have to be elaborate over the top, unless, of course, that's what a couple is into. But also, today. Brad Crowell 3:25 Can just be a touch on the shoulder or a thank you. Lesley Logan 3:27 You know, do something you're not usually doing without being asked. That's probably the best thing. Brad Crowell 3:32 If you always get flowers. Change it up. Change it up. Lesley Logan 3:34 Yeah, get chocolates or get flowers and chocolates.Brad Crowell 3:37 Or don't give something, but do an act of service or something else. Lesley Logan 3:42 If there's something that your partner complains about doing, maybe try to do it for them. Or if they are tired of driving, maybe today you get them an Uber gift card and they get to have a chauffeur to work. Brad Crowell 3:54 Ooh, that's a fun idea. Lesley Logan 3:57 Also, one of the other holidays today in the Philippines, it's Labor Day. So to our team in the Philippines, we have a lot of people out there. Happy Labor Day to you, by the way, that means it's like May Day, which is a whole historical day that I know about, but surface level. So I'm not going to go into it, but it led to a National Phone-In-Sick Day to make sure that the world knows what happens without your labor. And since we are on the theme of little ways of protesting, if you are an employee somewhere and you have sick days and you haven't been using them, use one. Call in sick. Let people know what it's, let people know what happens if they don't have their team. But just remember, to our team, Happy Labor Day. Have the day off and we love you. So, okay, we are headed to the UK this fall. This is for Pilates teachers and really big in Pilates enthusiasts. We have two locations. We have six workshops. Two are business, Pilates business, and four are Pilates movement related. We've got two classes. The deal on this thing is insanity. If you were to buy each thing one at a time, it was, like, almost $2,000 and we're selling it for, like, I don't know, 550 pounds or something like that. So you'll want to go to opc.me/uk to sign up and snag your spot on the limited spots that we have. Brad Crowell 5:14 Our second person who registered is coming in from Europe, so. Lesley Logan 5:18 Yeah, you can come in from Europe. Brad Crowell 5:20 Yeah, we're going to be in Essex or Leeds, and there's plenty of hotels in the area. Lesley Logan 5:25 And Leeds, the ors. Brad Crowell 5:26 Sorry, yeah, for you, you could pick one of the two. We will be in both. I mean, hell, you want to come to both? Come to both.Lesley Logan 5:33 There's only one workshop that repeats itself, and it's one that you probably want to go to twice, to be completely honest. So it's really amazing. And then this particular Saturday is Pilates Day. It's International Pilates day, the first Saturday of May. And in honor of that, we'll be wrapping up our spring training event. So you, probably too late to join us, to be completely honest, but we'll be doing that. I'm really, really excited. Brad Crowell 5:54 Maybe not. Lesley Logan 5:55 I don't know. Brad Crowell 5:55 If you want to hop in right now. Lesley Logan 5:57 You can. You'll, you'll have a week of replays, still not from today, but I think to the 10th. So you have seven days. So yeah.Brad Crowell 6:03 If you're, if like, you're watching, if you listen to this the day it comes out and you want to figure out what we're talking about, chat to us. Go to opc.me/chat and we'll send you a link to the Spring Training event. There's a few more days. Lesley Logan 6:15 Yeah, it's really, it's been quite a fun week. I'm really thrilled with the whole thing. I mean, it's just really fun to do classes live and like, you get your Pilates habit and routine on, and then you can go back to doing it with Iike, on your own time.Brad Crowell 6:27 I mean, this is kind of a perfect episode to be talking about Spring Training because. Lesley Logan 6:31 It really is. Brad Crowell 6:32 It features all the teachers that you're that you listened to in the last episode.Lesley Logan 6:35 Yeah, if you fell in love with them. Yeah, so they're all part of it. It's really quite amazing. And what's really hilarious is Tami is actually in the house right now, so like when this episode goes out. So she wasn't on that episode, but she's currently in our house filming OPC workouts. At any rate, just the irony of all it. Then this summer, we're actually going on our Summer Tour. And it is cooking, we are getting really, really close to announce the cities and help you snide your tickets, you're going to want them, because West Coast is the location of this tour, which means smaller spaces. It just is, just how it works out. Brad Crowell 7:09 It's true. Lesley Logan 7:09 You know, it's just expensive to have bigger studios in some of these cities. So they'll be smaller spaces, which means you're gonna want to get your tickets. So, opc.me/events, means you're going to get the first updates on the tour and all that stuff. So you'll want to go to opc.me/events. Brad, why don't you chime in? Brad Crowell 7:25 Yeah, if you are taking clients for Pilates and you are trying to figure out how to get more clients, or just how to create stability in this tumultuous time, we're doing a webinar on that. It's called the Growth Accelerator Webinar, and it's free, and I want you to come join me. There's a Q&A option, and I'll be sharing three big secrets that we've learned from coaching 2500 plus businesses just like yours.Lesley Logan 7:51 It's really fun, you guys. It's really amazing. It's like, it's a way for you to understand what Agency is, but also what we believe in the Pilates industry, because there are other people out there, and it's important that you know what the values of the people who are coaching you are, because it needs to align with yours. And we firmly believe in your business working for you. You're not working for it. And so that means that the templates that we use are more formulas versus like and this is how every studio needs to look and this is exactly, this is exactly how your onboarding series goes, and this is how this goes. Brad Crowell 8:21 Yeah, here's the language that you use, no, all that does not work.Lesley Logan 8:23 No, that does not work because you all have different audiences that you want to be talking to, and you're also coming at it from either this is your full time gig, or you want it to be your full time gig, or you have kids and this is your part time gig. Like everyone comes from a different place, so it has to work for you, and that's what we pride ourselves on, is you can really mold what we coach you on to your business. Last up.Brad Crowell 8:42 Last, but not least, my absolute favorite thing in the world to do is to go to Cambodia, and we have a retreat coming up this October, go to crowsnestretreats.com. If you got all to listen to this podcast, you've heard us talk about it a million times. But isn't this the year for you? Isn't this the time? Lesley Logan 8:58 Oh, my goodness, I just wrote a whole email about why you should let us do this and I'm correct. Brad Crowell 9:02 But also like, don't you need a retreat right now? Right now. Do you need a retreat? I do. I'm ready. Lesley Logan 9:08 I actually was looking at our potential flight plans, and one of them would let us go to Vietnam, but it's kind of complicated. We're doing all these other things beforehand, so I want to go to Vietnam, and also kind of want to go to Colombia, which I know is on the other side of the world. So it's different, just different where my head is, but one of the flight plans will let us have a layover, though, to go to Botanical Gardens. Brad Crowell 9:25 Oh, in Korea? Lesley Logan 9:26 In Singapore. Brad Crowell 9:27 Oh, in Singapore. Lesley Logan 9:28 Yeah, we did the Botanical Gardens in Korea. Brad Crowell 9:29 We did do that, yeah.Lesley Logan 9:30 So, but I just pinged you and said hey, there's six hours in the daytime, and so that's an hour. And then we need about. Brad Crowell 9:37 I think we were looking at the Botanical Gardens when we were there last, right? Lesley Logan 9:39 Having dinner, yes, you pointed out, yes, it was closed because we got there close to the eighth. So I think we could do it in four hours. Brad Crowell 9:46 That'd be awesome. Lesley Logan 9:47 Yeah. So anyways, we might skip Vietnam and go there. But here's what I bragged about in my email, what you would get if you were already on our waitlist for this. But I actually wrote about, we're really fucking good at this retreat. We're so good at it. And I say this because a lot of people don't like to brag about things. A lot of people are like, oh, I'm a humble person, no, there are certain things that you do really, really well. Like our friend Vincent unapologetically goes, I make fucking great eggs. I make great eggs. I watched the master class on egg making, and I make great eggs. He's never made us eggs, but I'm just saying he brags about it, right? Like, I'm aware that he makes good eggs, and I've never even had them. What we do really well is create an amazing experience for you. You have nothing to do on this trip but get your plane ticket and let us know when you land, because we will pick you up from the airport. Well, not us, but our driver will pick you up from the airport, and it will bring you to our house. And we have a wonderful schedule that is not going to make you exhausted, but it's also going to make sure you see everything.Brad Crowell 10:38 It includes a lot of free time. You're going to have a chance to chill.Lesley Logan 10:40 Yes, but not so much free time you feel like you didn't do anything so you have to plan something. No, it is a wonderful, the cadence is amazing. I'm telling you, every single person tells us how great the schedule is because we do it well. So if you would like to literally retreat yourself, I promise you, when you are halfway across the world, it's very easy to go, you know what? I could put a pin all that chaos, because I'm over here looking at this beauty, and you can actually, just for the nervous system, it's so freaking good. I could go on forever, but go to crowsnestretreats.com to snag your spot. Brad Crowell 11:10 Yeah, all right. Well, before we get into it, about the teachers, we had a question. Alison Pilates on YouTube asked, hey, I love the 60-minute full Reformer workout. We tried to find the links to the exercises so I could practice and get better at the pace. Where can I find them?Lesley Logan 11:26 Yeah, so you guys on YouTube, we have two full Joseph Pilates ordered workouts. We have the mat one, and we have the Reformer one, and they're both advanced. So I'm just gonna tell you right now, if it's the full order, it's super advanced, right? But at any rate, we have these on there, and it's kind of impossible to link to every single tutorial in the show notes of YouTube. I mean, I guess we can, but you can't click them, and there would be 79 exercises to click to. So actually, what you want to do is download the OPC app. It's free. You don't have to be an OPC member. Can download the app, and then you can go to the tutorials, and you can click on the Reformer, and they're all right there. They're all right there. And that way you can review the exercises you're not so familiar with, so you can learn them. And then when you take this workout again, you can be faster at it, or you can omit exercises not right for your body. That particular workout, I did all the super advanced back bends and headstands and all the things, and what I would just say is, even in my own workout, I don't do all of them. I pick two or three, but I did them all so that there is a place where this workout exists. I'm really excited that you guys are loving it, but, yeah, get the app. That's the best place. Brad Crowell 12:30 Yeah, the other thing you can do is, if you just want a list of links to the order, you can Google onlinepilatesclasses.com reformer order and a blog post will come up. We did make a post that has. Lesley Logan 12:43 That's linked. Brad Crowell 12:44 I don't know if it's exactly the same as the 60-minute YouTube video you were talking about, probably is, but. Lesley Logan 12:50 No, I can confirm. Brad Crowell 12:52 Lesley is confirming it's the same. So just Google onlinepilatesclasses.com reformer order, and you'll find the blog post that actually links directly to each one. Lesley Logan 13:02 So, thank you, Alison Pilates. I hope you enjoy that. And also, by the way, if you want to actually get better at the pace and the exercises, I highly recommend you actually just be I'm an OPC member, because at OPC, we don't do the super advanced exercises. We do more of the all level exercises, but you get to nerd out on a particular exercise and see how it works throughout the Reformer and on the mat, and we work at pace, and it's really fun. And then you can actually send me a video of you doing an exercise and I'll give you feedback on your form. There you go. Okay.Brad Crowell 13:32 Great job. Well, stick around. We'll be right back. We're gonna dig into this amazing and super fun convo that Lesley had with all the OPC teachers, where actually, I got to know them better than I've ever known them. I didn't know any of these stories, so I'm really looking forward to chatting about it. Stick around. Brad Crowell 13:48 All right. Welcome back. So let's talk about Rachel Piper, Mindi Westfall, Christine Kam-Lynch, Megan Lauman and Yasmin Scholten. Only one missing was Tami-Adrian George, but we have a dedicated episode. Lesley Logan 14:01 Just for her. Brad Crowell 14:01 Just for her. Lesley Logan 14:02 She's got a lot we all talk about. Brad Crowell 14:04 She's got a lot going on. These five incredible women are part of the dedicated teachers at OPC. Each brings something unique to the mat, blending a deep love for learning with personal experiences that show how Pilates can transform your body and your life. Christine balances a full-time tech career while teaching Pilates. Mindi, known as “Bendy Mindi Pilates” on Instagram, continued Pilates after undergoing microdiscectomy, and now helps others find strength in their flexibility. Rachel a proud quote-unquote mat rat with a biotech background.Lesley Logan 14:39 I love that she's a mat rat with a biotech background. Brad Crowell 14:42 I've never even heard that term.Lesley Logan 14:43 I know, but I really think is there just a better animal? Brad Crowell 14:46 All right, well, so she has a biotech background. She still works in science and teams and all the things. She brings her love of themes and creative expression to every single class. Megan, a mother of four, based in Missouri, discover Pilates as a way to heal her body and now teaches from her home studio. And Yasmin, based in Germany, left corporate life to open a home studio in her small town where she grew up. Okay, I just want to put this out there right away, before everybody else asks, how do I become a teacher on onlinepilatesclasses.com? This is what, we get asked this all the time. Here's the truth of it. All five of these women who are on this interview were already OPC members. They were already participating. They were already changing their life with the consistency of their practice and using OPC to do it. And that's how we met them. Like I mean, there's other ways we actually met them, some of them outside of there, but that's how we got to know them. That's how it began to make sense. They were asking all these questions. They were participating, and it was a very organic opportunity, over the years to invite them to teach, because they actually care about the community. That's the thing that matters for us. Lesley Logan 15:52 Yeah, like you said, I've had, I still always have people who ask, and it's like, if you're not in the community participating, then it's really hard for us to get the community to want to take your class. And then the other thing I'll just say is, even if you're coming to join and be part of the community, we're not hiring all the time. So, yes, join because we want you to be a part of it, but join for you, not because of that goal. And then the other thing I want us to be like every single one of these girls has done eLevate, my mentorship program, so that we're all in the same page, so even though we're taking our own experiences and our own bodies and our own way of feeling the exercise in our body, but they all understand how Joseph Pilates created this stuff and gave it to Jay and his teachers taught me and all the stuff. So, are we looking for more teachers? Not this time, because we're really focused on the community and growing the community, but I would love to see you in the community, because I think why a lot of people want to be a teacher on the platform is because they want to be part of something. And I can tell you right now, even if you're not on the platform teaching it, when you're in the community, you're absolutely part of something. And that is something I'm so proud of, our members who share things. People know each other's name, even though they've never met. And people do connect in in-person events that we have, and then they hang out without us. There are eight women who take OPC classes at the same time on Wednesdays, at 8 a.m. and they're not teachers on this platform, but they are teachers. And so I just want to say OPC was never designed just for teachers, it'sdesigned for everybody, but I think that most people just want to, because they want to be part of something. You could be part of something without the commitment of figuring out your lighting and making sure your camera is straight. Brad Crowell 17:32 That is, that's the thing. Lesley Logan 17:33 And that your mic is actually working. Because sometimes you film an entire workout that is unusable. Brad Crowell 17:37 And I love, I think the thing I love the most about OPC is that once a month we do a live mat class, and after the mat class is over, everybody just hangs out and they just talk, and they get to update each other on different things about life, and it's been. Lesley Logan 17:55 We just celebrated, like a couple girls just finished their exams, so that was really fun. We know that from the hangout sessions, and then we know some of us picked up their kids from college and did spring break with them. Like it's kind of fun to know what everyone is doing. Brad Crowell 18:08 It's actually a community of people who care about each other. And we started doing it in COVID, and we just never stopped, because it's rad. Lesley Logan 18:17 Yeah. And also, to be honest, if I could record all of the OPC workouts I have to film with OPC members being there, I would do it. I would so do it. But the reality is, life happens, and we're like, oh, let's, we're moving this around. People will just be so confused. So, at any rate. But let's get into this episode. Brad Crowell 18:34 Yeah, absolutely. Lesley Logan 18:35 So, hold on. Brad Crowell 18:36 Take us away. Lesley Logan 18:37 All right. There's so many things to love, but Christine mentioned something that I really wanted to point out. She said there's something about being on the apparatus, apparatuses, the apparati, anyways, the apparatuses, the equipment that makes me feel connected inside. And I couldn't agree more, like I think it's just a fun way to get to know yourself. I think it's really difficult, because today there's this trend in the industry where everyone is over correcting all the time and cueing a lot, and so you don't always have time in your body, which is why I really appreciate how great our teachers are telling you how many reps, and giving you a rep to be by yourself, and giving you permission to change the exercise if you need to. And I think that allows you to have that connection. Brad Crowell 19:21 But what if you're doing it wrong? Lesley Logan 19:23 Oh my God, you're not gonna die. You're not gonna die. Most of the time, people doing it wrong are just doing choreography, and so they're like, this is too easy. I don't get it. That's most of it like, very rarely are people doing it so wrong they could hurt, no, no, obviously, if you're working with spring. Brad Crowell 19:38 Jay's quote here.Lesley Logan 19:40 Oh, Jay always says, "Ugly Pilates, get used to it. Dangerous Pilates, never." And so of course, we don't want you to do dangerous Pilates, but a lot of times people are doing exercises they're not ready for, that would be dangerous, so you got to be careful. But that's why I love our OPC teachers always reminding people to, that it's brave and courageous to do something else. Also, Christine mentioned that she loves taking from the other teachers, because she she actually gets different cues or different ideas or different connections from the different teachers. Because when I was picking teachers for the platform, I think it's so important, we one day, like, actually put our inseams on a list. Because we're like, well, maybe we should let all the members know what equipment we have, so that they can maybe set their equipment up, our equipment, or whatever. And then, well, should we let them know how tall we are, and then it's like, well, we're tall, but some of us have longer legs, so that we need a measure of everything. So anyways, Christine is one of our fun size teachers, and so it's really fun, because she can understand different things, even for her body, while working with the taller teachers. But I know that our members who are fun size love taking with Christine, because, like, oh, that's how Christine does it. Okay, great. So it's kind of fun. Mindi also said that she loves learning from the other teachers, but she said learning from the other teachers is one of the most important things I can do for myself and also for my own practice, because I learn something new every single time I take someone's class. And I think that that's what is so fun. Because a lot of people are like, oh, use the order. That's boring. No, it's not boring. Because if you're truly doing the workout and not wanting to be entertained, it doesn't even feel like it's something you've done before. It feels like you're having a new exploration. Because your body is different depending on what time of day you work out, depending on what you did the day before. Brad Crowell 21:17 Definitely, day to day it's different. Lesley Logan 21:18 Today, my mat class, I have my own mat workout today, slayed it. Slayed it. I was so strong. I felt so good. It's not how I always felt. So anyways, I just really appreciate that even our teachers. Brad Crowell 21:30 Hey, good job, babe. Lesley Logan 21:31 Thank you. On this Couple Appreciation.Brad Crowell 21:33 We're celebrating the national couple's day. Lesley Logan 21:35 Yes, I won't cook dinner, though, it's okay. I'll go get it. I mean, really, it would just be tater tots. I'm really good at those sweet potato ones, specifically, everyone. I really like that. With those two teachers, both mentioned how much they love learning from the other people, and I think that's what makes it so fun. Because even if you're not a teacher, just imagine how much you're going to learn. What did you love? Brad Crowell 21:57 Well, when Rachel was talking about consistency, okay, here's the thing about what Rachel was talking about that I connected to OPC, and it made me happy. When we were brainstorming OPC, we were trying to figure out, how do we compete with other platforms that have thousands and thousands of videos, and it made me think of Netflix, and it made me realize I never get to watch anything because I spent too much time trying to figure trying to figure out what to watch that by the time I'm ready to watch whatever I picked, I don't have any more time. So we said, well, how could we do that for OPC? We kept the class options small on purpose, and that really lends itself to consistency. Just being able to log in, click play and go. Another thing I thought was really interesting, and Mindi talked about this too, but Rachel only kind of realized that she's hypermobile recently, like in the last couple of years, and that, I think for me, it was blatantly obvious I've been able to bend my body like crazy. Lesley Logan 22:55 I think, but also because a lot of people think that hypermobility, you like, super hyperextend your joints and like, your elbows and your knees, but you can be hypermobile in some joints and not other joints, and it doesn't have to look extreme.Brad Crowell 23:11 Sure, you could just be hyperextending. That's still hypermobility, right, hyperextending. What's really great is that, when Rachel shared her story she was talking about everyone told her, by the time you're in your 40s, you're going to need your knees replaced, and because she was doing Pilates before going to see a doctor, now they said, hey, you've been protecting yourself by doing Pilates all these years, so you don't need a knee replacement. And that's insane. That's amazing. I love that. That's incredible. Lesley Logan 23:38 Did you know that the knee replacements are through the roof with how many people are needing today versus decades ago, and women will need them more than men. And it's actually not because of how we walk, because people in tribes don't need knee replacements. It's because we have a lack of strength balance between our hamstrings and our thighs, quads, outer hips, and so when you don't have that kind of a balance, your joints don't operate in the same way and you're demanding muscles to do support of things that need other help. And so that is why knees are not working the way. Brad Crowell 24:12 Interesting. Lesley Logan 24:12 Yeah, it's a whole thing. Do your hamstring curls on your Reformer, everyone, or if you don't have a Reformer, do your single leg kick with precision.Brad Crowell 24:20 What she said when Megan was sharing, it was really great to listen to her talk about her family, and I got really excited to hear her talk about her partner, and we know.Lesley Logan 24:30 That's because you love him. Brad Crowell 24:31 Well, his name's Adam, he's rad. But it was what I thought was so cool, was that the two are very intentional about tagging each other in tagging each other out. They've four kids, y'all. So you know, there's a lot going on all the time, yet in the chaos of just life, they still are intentional about setting aside time for themselves individually, which is when Megan gets to do her practice. And that's awesome. I think that's really great. One thing that I also really appreciated was she said she was really encouraged about how inclusive OPC is, and we're talking all forms of inclusivity here. The mix of teachers are working full time in another business, all the way to teaching Pilates full time, different sizes, shapes, bodies, color, different areas of the world, different backgrounds. Lesley Logan 25:22 And also, you know, here I am. I don't have children, so it's really easy for me to say. Brad Crowell 25:26 Right, moms know moms.Lesley Logan 25:27 You, it's really easy for me to say, be consistent. But I love that I was able to find people in our community who are also amazing teachers. Megan has four kids. Not just four kids, she's got two kids who are teenagers. And then two, well, I think a third is a teenager, one's about to be, with two special needs. Rachel talked about her son. And then Yasmin has kids. We have a few, and then Tami has a kid who, she got into college. So, like, they're all in different life paths, too. And so I really wanted. Brad Crowell 25:55 Dog moms on their runners. Lesley Logan 25:56 Yeah, single versus married. Like, I really wanted people who join OPC to see themselves in at least one teacher, if not a few teachers, like, oh, I have a full time job too. Christine and Rachel do. Not that the rest of us aren't full time guys, but, like a nine to five. There's a difference within a nine to five. Brad Crowell 26:13 They're also teaching in addition to their full time job. So, you know, so, so you're not alone. Just the diversity of all of that really does make it inclusive. There's an opportunity to see yourself in at least one of the teachers, and so we hope that you also are making that connection and enjoying that. And then when Yasmin was sharing her story, she actually talked about how damaged her body was after a career sitting at a desk, and it was causing a lot of pain for her, and she found Pilates as a, I guess, part, partly as rehab, but, but now today, that's like she's dedicated her entire life to it. She, you know, got certified, and then eventually quit her corporate job. And she said the thing that she loved the most about OPC was that it's a sense of not being alone in her home studio, which, you know, she's inherently alone, and once she can tap into OPC, she can participate in a community that's all over the world and is really supportive and encouraging. And, you know, I just love that. I think that's great. Lesley Logan 27:14 I love that she talked about construction sites. She was referring to, like, you know, we all have struggles in our bodies, and she called them construction sites. And I was like, you know, I just feel like when you learn English as a second language, there's just a better way of saying the things that you are working on it, you're putting something together, you're building something. Brad Crowell 27:30 Yeah, that was pretty cute, that was really cute.Lesley Logan 27:31 Yeah, I can't we're gonna see her in person in September.Brad Crowell 27:33 Oh, I'm very much looking forward to that. Oh, yeah, when we come to the UK. In fact, y'all, the person who is coming from the EU is Yasmin, the teacher. So come meet her. Come meet us. That'd be a lot of fun. Anyway, stick around. We'll be right back. We're gonna dig into some really juicy Be It Action Items that shared from this plethora of wisdom and knowledge that we have on these OPC teachers platform. So stick around. We'll be right back. Brad Crowell 27:58 Welcome back. Let's dig into this bold, executable, intrinsic or targeted Be It Action Items from your convo with all these lovely ladies. I'm gonna jump in first here. Christine mentioned that she treats movement like snacks. And I thought that was brilliant. I thought that was such a great visual, because if you're working and you're hungry, what do you do? You reach in the drawer and you grab a Slim Jim. Maybe not Slim Jim, but you know, you grab a jerky snack.Lesley Logan 28:26 I'd go for Chomps, but they're not sponsoring this, but it's about meat. Brad Crowell 28:28 Yeah or whatever, or you grab, hopefully it's not just pure sugar, but I love the idea of treating movement like a snack. What if you just got up and did a quick lap around the office? What if you?Lesley Logan 28:39 We did a movement snack yesterday. We were kind of like head funk, and we went outside and just walked around one block. And you know what, guys, it felt great. And then you do push ups while you're waiting for your coffee. Brad Crowell 28:50 Push ups with my coffee often, if I feel sluggish, if I feel that afternoon tiredness, I will just go do a handstand against the wall, and I'm not even trying to balance. The whole goal of it is to get blood flow back into my brain. Lesley Logan 29:04 If you're thinking about your heart, it's youth, fountain of youth. Brad Crowell 29:07 Yeah. So I love this idea of thinking of it like a snack. It actually makes it even easier to go do brilliant. So, love that. Great job. Mindi talked about taking messy action. That is something that we've been saying.Lesley Logan 29:19 Something that she didn't say on this podcast, but Mindi has the entire intro memorized of the Be It Pod. So, yeah.Brad Crowell 29:25 Yeah, Mindyi's amazing, but, but taking messy action, right? How often have we talked about that here? And I love that that's something that she lives by and she thinks about all the time, because it kind of takes away the fear of whatever the thing is. It's allowed to be messy. It doesn't have to be perfect. We're not doing brain surgery here. So it doesn't have, necessarily have to be perfect the first time, right? That's not that common. So it's okay to get your feet wet, get started and figure it out as you go for most things. And I love that when it comes to movement, when it comes to Pilates, we can apply that, obviously. So, love that. Great job, Mindi. What's your biggest takeaway?Lesley Logan 30:05 Okay, we had a few. So, Rachel said don't show up for anyone else, but you. And I do love that. And I will say, if you have a hard time being selfish, then think about the problem you are going to be for the people you love, because you won't be able to go up the stairs. And then if that makes you do it, then that's great, because I really do agree with that. And I also think some people have a really hard time showing up for themselves, but I agree we all have to get to that place. You have to love yourself enough to show up for you. Megan said find a way. Find a way to prioritize self-care, movement, even just a, find a way, there's always a way. So, I agree. And then Yasmin said the root of the goal is not to be perfect in this moment and just do your workout practicing with the teacher. And I like that. So it's like, the only thing I have to work on today is being with the teacher, just moving with this class. What if you were not, like, I gotta get this teaser today, you know, so and then to find confidence in your body. And I think that's really, really sweet. And I think, you know, no one is Googling, like, how to have confidence in my body, but I do think a lot of people lack confidence in themselves. They come off very confident, and they come off very self-sufficient, and they come off as they're able to highly function and do all these amazing things, but they actually don't trust how they feel, and they don't have a mind body connection, and that's something we really want to achieve at OPC. And so here's the deal, Pilates Day is a Saturday. There's a reason why this episode is coming out this week. We wanted to celebrate this amazing holiday that's coming up that has given us an amazing career. And truly, we're doing it with the most amazing people doing this. But also we want you to do Pilates with us. A lot of you who listen and you go to an in-person studio, OPC can be the supplement. If you're only doing Reformer Pilates, you can do the mat work with us. Because if you actually want to see what, you're superly capable of. Superly capable of. Brad Crowell 31:45 I was wondering what word that was. Lesley Logan 31:47 I like it. Superly capable of. Brad Crowell 31:48 Superly capable of. Lesley Logan 31:49 It's like now there's a ring to it.Brad Crowell 31:50 Let's all be superbly capable of.Lesley Logan 31:53 Superbly capable of, you know, you need to get on the mat. It is hard, and if it's easy, you're not doing it right, which is why you have to join OPC so we can, actually, can submit a video of you doing an exercise, and I can tell you like, oh, actually, your feet go here, or this goes here. So, you guys, go to onlinepilatesclasses.com and join us. You can join us for 40 days for $40 and you get to take classes from these amazing people, and Tami, and you can be part of this amazing community. You heard him. Brad Crowell 32:20 And Lesley. Lesley Logan 32:21 And me, I'm teaching. I teach 40% of the classes. I'm like, every other week. You don't get away from me. Also, feel like I won't use it. I know me. No, we have accountability. We take classes away so you do show up for you. And you can help, you can find people in the community that will hold you accountable. You go, okay, I'm gonna do it on Tuesday who wants to do it with me? Brad Crowell 32:38 Look, I just want to say we are all doing Pilates, right? But at OPC, we actually have a process, okay, and that process includes our big three. We call them the three C's, consistency, community and connection, right? And we help you follow our process, which helps you maintain that consistency. Lesley Logan 32:59 Well, when we created this, and Brad's like I want to do this, I said, well, I love what people experience when they go take class together. I really love that there's that I've got to show up because the class is at x time and I'm going to see x people. Like, I love that, right? But if you miss that class, then you like, might go a week before you get to take class again. And I hate that. And so it's like, how can I have the accountability of an in-person class and the community of in-person, but the accessibility of a chaotic life. And so that is why every single Tuesday, a new class drops, an old class goes away, and you have access to that new class for two weeks. So there's always a couple to choose from. So if you're like, I didn't really understand that teacher, you don't have to worry about it. There's another teacher's classes up there. So it's really great. And you get to, when you say, I took class, I took Hippy Ki-Yay, people know what you're talking about, because they're all taking Hippy Ki-Yay, no one is like, oh my God, from five years ago. I just want to say this community.Brad Crowell 33:52 That's what makes this community really fun is because when people like, oh, I finally got the roll up when so and so is teaching. You know what they're talking about, because you're taking the same class as them and you're like, oh, yeah, that was the moment. So it really brings people together. And all that was by design, and we're really proud of that, because when people follow the process, they win. You win, and we want that for you. Lesley Logan 34:14 Just go to onlinepilatesclasses.com. Check it out. Sign up for the trial membership and get into the community. Send me a video.Brad Crowell 34:21 Join us for live class. Lesley Logan 34:22 You know, if you love this podcast, you're gonna love the community, I promise you that. And then the OPC app, which is for you, you can listen to this podcast, you can see tutorials, and you can communicate in the community. So Bayon is really excited for you to join us too, if you heard that from the way, way back of this house. And until next time loves, Be It Till You See It. Brad Crowell 34:42 Bye for now. If you are not familiar, I suggest listening to these episodes because she is fantastic--a Paris-born native of France who became a U.S. citizen last winter, Melisse conducts the Northeastern Philharmonic as well as the Lexington, KY Philharmonic and guest lectures across the country at various colleges and universities. She was heavily featured in the documentary Maestra and is purely delightful, hopeful and inspirational. Well yesterday afternoon I attended the Philharmonic's Holiday Pops concert that included singers from Wilkes University, Marywood University and the Choral Society of NEPA as well as musicians from the Valenches Music Company and dancers from the Ballet Theatre of Scranton and it did not disappoint. The performances were as sparkling and magnificent as the suit that Melisse was wearing (visit my Instagram RealFunny_Wine_Girl_Jeannine to see). Melisse conducted with such a fun, playful and joyful style that I was smiling through the whole concert. She is absolute fun and pizazz. I wanted to share my thoughts so I recorded this Sunday evening after I left the concert. I hope you'll support local arts in NEPA or wherever you live because it really does fill our hearts and connect us in ways that are vital to our humanness---to show one another kindness, empathy and love!
Sermon by Andrew Flowers on December 8, 2024.This week, we look at Revelation 12. While this passage seems strange and confusing at first glance, we'll see the author "pulling the curtain back" to show us the cosmic battle taking place and how, ultimately, Jesus wins.
This week we have multi-talented influencer and burlesque performer, Cassandra Cass, opening about her life, career, and transition. With humor and raw honesty, Cassandra takes us on a journey through her past, from growing up in Des Moines, Iowa, to becoming a fixture in the Los Angeles scene. She shares the emotional and physical challenges of her transition, reflecting on her relationship with her family, especially her late mother, and the trials of being a transgender woman in the 90s. In between humorous anecdotes about her burlesque performances, Thanksgiving parties with celebrity guests, and even joking about facelifts and “Armenian coffee,” Cassandra dives deep into more serious topics like dating as a trans woman, gender identity, and society's evolving understanding of the LGBTQ+ community. The conversation is as heartfelt as it is hilarious, revealing Cassandra's resilience and unique perspective on love, identity, and self-acceptance. She also sheds light on her health challenges, including a vocal cord issue that has shaped her experience, while maintaining her signature wit and grace. We discuss boundaries in friendships, shedding negativity, and the importance of intimate circles in our lives and reminisce about pivotal career moments, fashion shows, and the importance of authentic connections. Cassandra's recounting of personal traumas—ranging from family struggles, including her mother's addiction and strained relationships with her brothers, to being a survivor of transphobic violence—reveals a raw and tender side of her life story. It's a deep dive into her thoughts on family, potential motherhood, and her nurturing instincts. Though she shares her hesitations about raising children, she expresses her passion for helping those in need, especially young people who come from difficult backgrounds, hinting at a possible future of fostering and giving back. Cassandra reflects on her journey from performing in clubs to landing a role on Strut, a groundbreaking show about a trans modeling agency produced by Whoopi Goldberg. We learn about her firsthand experience with the fashion world, from working with the Slay Model Agency to the complexities of navigating fame and authenticity in a media-driven industry, including her complicated relationship with America's Next Top Model star Isis King, addressing a public fallout that brought tensions to light, particularly during a controversial incident involving Caitlyn Jenner and her tribute to the late Alexis Arquette. We wrap up our first half with Pol' reading her Armenian coffee cup grounds and he offers a vulnerable look at the relationship with the love of her life and family, particularly the evolving bond with her father and upcoming trip and shares the importance of seizing every opportunity that leaves Cassandra speechless, and she professes her shock at the accuracy of what Pol' sees in her cup. The Star Report
The ladies are back from their week off, trying to re-coup and stay cool in this ongoing heat warning called Las Vegas. From the Mirage closing here on the strip, to the “Ear” escapades from the weekend to the #NFL season on the way & #ParisOlympics starting next week, there is SO MUCH to chat about. The ladies first had to address the National Anthem heard around the county, by #IngridAndress at the #MLB HR Derby, yikes. Ingrid is now in rehab, as her “team” report she was drunk during the Anthem. Mo was thrilled for her first #LADodger to win the Derby, and the MLB All-Star also saw the AL take the win, even with a 3-run HR by Ohtani. Speaking of Ohtani, Mo is ready for a trip to #Tokyo to see the Dodgers opening day, Mel can definitely get with that. But this weekend its all about the #WNBA and the #WNBAAllStar weekend in Phoenix. The heat has already turned up as the players/teams arrive in AZ. From #TeamUSA photos to practice on the NEW Mercury Practice Facility & “Taurasi Court” to the participants of the 3pt & Skills Challenge…it is definitely going to be a TIME! The ladies also had to chat about the one and only #USHER popping in courtside to the #LVAces #Sky game. The winners seemed to have a whole time with him in their locker room, and it was not the Aces. But #AjaWilson not only got her wish for his attendance, but she put on a show as only A'ja does & not to mention she SLAYED on the cover of #MarieClaire for the “Queen of the Court”. The WNBA is also looking to booster their media/TV rights that will surely increase pay to the players. Plus #SportsNews #HotTopics #BirdBarbie #NBANews #GirlPower and More! Ever wondered what Slade's Noddy Holder is doing now? Curious as to whether he still sings? Or how he survived a terminall cancer diagnosis? Tune in to find out. Neville ‘Noddy' Holder is one of the great institutions of British rock. As the garishly trousered, top-hatted frontman of West Midlands glam yobs Slade, he helped soundtrack the early 70s with a string of Top 10 hits that peaked with the immortal festive anthem Merry Xmas Everybody. Since leaving the band in the early 90s, Noddy branched out into acting, most notably in sitcom The Grimleys, and writing (his 1999 autobiography Who's Crazee Now? was followed by 2014's The World According To Noddy). He is also the voice for the elevator announcements at his local Walsall art gallery. Born in 1946 in the Midlands, Noddy formed his first band, The Rockin' Phantoms, at the age of 13 and left school after O levels to take a job in a car parts firm while pursuing a music career. The band became The Memphis Cut-Outs and they became popular enough on the local scene for Noddy to quit the day job. He went on to join The Mavericks, who were signed to a record label in 1965, and his stablemates were The N' Betweens, a band that included future Slade members guitarist Dave Hill and drummer Don Powell. The two bands shared bills and bonded, laying the foundations for Noddy's next move. In 1966, Dave and Don convinced Noddy to join their new group, along with multi-instrumentalist Jim Lea. They called the band Ambrose Slade. After their debut album flopped, they changed their name to Slade and adopted a skinhead image for the following year's Play It Loud. When that failed to catch the public's imagination, the band turned to glam rock and swiftly became one of Britain's biggest bands, with Slayed? (1972) reaching No 1 after their breakthrough single Get Down And Get With It. The next few years saw Slademania take Britain by storm with a run of classic, hit singles (mostly chart-toppers) that gave English teachers the nation over sleepless nights including Coz I Luv You, Take Me Bak 'Ome, Mama Weer All Crazee Now, Gudbuy T'Jane, Cum On Feel The Noize, Skweeze Me, Pleeze Me and Merry Xmas Everybody. Noddy Holder left Slade in 1992 but remained a familiar figure on BritishTV screens, most notably as a team captain on BBC1's music series A Question Of Pop and playing the music teacher Neville Holder in the ITV comedy drama The Grimleys. In 2000, Noddy was awarded the MBE for his services to showbusiness. Late in 2023, Noddy revealed that he'd been diagnosed with oesophageal cancer five years earlier and had been given six months to live. Thanks to some experimental chemotherapy treatment, Noddy has survived and is back on the stage doing what he loves to do best. Noddy Holder joins us this week to walk us through his illustrious career and talks warts and all. And then, now, today, kick ass and take names. It's one of those moments when you're forced to realize that you can't control what other people think, say and do. That sucks. It's really, really probably a hard thing. But you're gonna be better for it.Lesley Logan 0:20 Welcome to the Be It Till You See It podcast where we talk about taking messy action, knowing that perfect is boring. Let's get started. Lesley Logan 1:03 Welcome back to the Be It Till You See It interview recap where my co-host in life, Brad, and I are going to dig into the liberating convo I had with Danny-J Johnson and Jill Coleman. I think the J is for Johnson. Brad Crowell 1:14 J is for Johnson. So you just call her Danny-J. Danny-J and Jill Coleman.Lesley Logan 1:15 In our last episode, if you haven't yet listened to that interview, go back and listen to it. These women are badass as they're so fun and they're doing amazing things. And I just, I like, I love watching their stories all the time. So anyways, you can listen to that now or you can listen to this now and you can listen to that later, it's fine. You can do whatever order you want. If you're listening to it in the OPC app, which is free by the way, you can actually just see them lined up with each other, makes it super easy because I'm just gonna say a certain fruit phone does not make it easy to figure out which episode to listen to, in which order because it just automatically downloads the next one and you like are out of order sometimes.Brad Crowell 1:18 It's true. Lesley Logan 1:26 I'm just saying. Brad Crowell 1:54 That's true. That's happened. Lesley Logan 1:55 So today is June 27th 2024 and it's PTSD Awareness Day. About this day, on June 27 we talk about PTSD, a complex disorder caused by experiencing or witnessing trauma. The trauma necessary to cause PTSD can originate from many events — potentially an accident, combat, a natural disaster, or an assault — but there are other ways PTSD symptoms can arise. A trained professional must diagnose PTSD, based on symptoms like hypervigilance, mood swings, recurring and involuntary flashbacks to the trauma, and avoidance. The National Center for PTSD declared all of June to be PTSD Awareness month — you can help their campaign by educating yourself and others about the illness, and sharing help with those who might need it. Very important. We have been trying to get my dad some help for his PTSD, which he is like in denial that he has, and we're like, here are all how (inaudible)Brad Crowell 2:45 Here are all the symptoms that we're self-diagnosing you in but yeah, one of them is not sleeping, you know, and all like all sorts of different things like that (inaudible). PTSD is post-traumatic stress disorder. But this is actually something that has been reallyLesley Logan 3:01 But it's not just for people who've been in combat, you can have PTSD from from a car accident, like they said, or an assault or natural disaster. Brad Crowell 3:08 You can certainly have PTSD from those things as well. You know, any traumatic experience can create that, can create PTSD. The very first movie I ever acted in was about PTSD. Lesley Logan 3:21 Really? Brad Crowell 3:22 Yeah.Lesley Logan 3:22 That's interesting.Brad Crowell 3:23 Yeah. I was, I was working at a film school and one of the students who was a, becoming a director, did an entire movie about it, and he cast me in one of the parts. Lesley Logan 3:34 That's so, it's so cool. I had no idea you were ever in a movie. I know, a lot of first ones. So, there's others.Brad Crowell 3:41 So yeah, there were. One of my really close friends was in the military, multiple tours in the military. And then obviously, like you said, you know, Lesley, Lesley's dad. So, you know, lots of family and friends. Lesley Logan 3:55 Yeah, so I think like, it's really important to make sure that they have the help that they want, they might not be able, it's really easy. I find like my dad would say like, he didn't have as bad as other people. So he, so I think it's really easy for people to compare their own experiences to someone else's and, and make it smaller, like (inaudible). Yeah. So like, it's not PTSD, because, I can't have it because it wasn't as bad as this person, but you can have it. And I read this amazing book, what happened to you, which also explains like based on how you were raised as an infant, your resiliency levels, and it's possible that like, you might not have those tools from being so young, that you might have PTSD over on something that someone else who's sitting right next to you might not have had it on. So like it's so important to not belittle it or shame yourself, please get help or help someone in your life who has it, like find out the areas in you're in your communities that can help them. Brad Crowell 4:52 Yeah. Lesley Logan 4:53 All right. Brad Crowell 4:54 Coming up. Lesley Logan 4:54 Coming up. We're a little over a month away from leaving for our sixth tour, our Summer Tour powered by Balanced Body. We're so excited. Brad Crowell 5:03 That is crazy. Lesley Logan 5:04 I know. It's so, it's great. It's our sixth tour. It's our second Summer Tour. It's our third tour powered by Balanced Body and Contrology. And that allows us to do lots of, lots of cities we probably wouldn't be able to do and meet some incredible people. So we're doing 13 cities. Let's see. Here we go. Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, Denver, Lincoln, Nebraska, Minneapolis, Minnesota, Milwaukee, Chicago, Cleveland, Ohio, Dayton, Ohio, Indy, Kansas City.Brad Crowell 5:33 Kansas City.Lesley Logan 5:34 St. Louis, Colorado Springs. Brad Crowell 5:36 That's right. Lesley Logan 5:37 Way, I did a great job.Brad Crowell 5:38 Slayed it, slayed it. Lesley Logan 5:39 I slayed it. I do wonder if I got the St. Louis and Kansas City in the right order. Because but I just don't actually know. Brad Crowell 5:45 So actually, St. Louis, I thinkLesley Logan 5:46 Is first I don't really know (inaudible). You know, the middle of the map is confusing, like Nebraska is more North than I thought. So.Brad Crowell 5:46 Yeah. St. Louis is east of Kansas City. Lesley Logan 5:52 Okay, so then that definitely has a (inaudible). Go to opc.me/tour to get your tickets because it is selling really fast. And we are not hitting (inaudible) any of them. We're not hitting most, most of them again on the winter tour. And our summer tour will not be these cities. So. Brad Crowell 6:13 Actually, none of these will be on the winter tour. Lesley Logan 6:14 Oh, we're not doing St. Louis either. Are we doing Denver? Maybe.Brad Crowell 6:19 Man, that's debatable. Lesley Logan 6:21 That's debatable. Okay, so just know that it's possible. We won't hit any of these cities again, including Las Vegas. Who knows? Brad Crowell 6:27 That's true. Lesley Logan 6:28 Yeah. So OPC.me/tour to get your tickets. Yes, you can come to multiple events do not worry about like, oh, I want to make sure (inaudible), come to ones you want to come to. I mean, some of these are only two hours apart. So like come party with us, come home with the dogs. There's lots of fun prizes. elevate applications are probably open right now. And the reason I say probably is because at the time of recording we have not picked the dates but they open for two weeks. And I want to say it's now because I'm pretty sure the following week is when I'm doing the call. So let's just say they are open. You want to go to lesleylogan.co/elevate, it is my mentorship for Pilates instructors. So if you're not a Pilates instructor this is gibberish to you. If you are a Pilates instructor, this is a master's program, mentorship program, it allows us to spend nine months together really diving deep into the method and ditching the imposter syndrome, ditching the over talking, ditching the hours of prepping, and really helping you connect to your practice, connect to your teaching and also this method. So lesleylogan.co/elevate, I can only take 12 people per group. So just so you know, the next one would be 2026. Brad Crowell 7:28 Right.Lesley Logan 7:29 Yeah. So (inaudible)Brad Crowell 7:29 This enrollment would be for 2025 kicking off in January. So yeah, so don't sit on that one. Next up, we got Cambodia. February 2025. We are taking an amazing group of women with us so far. There may be aLesley Logan 7:30 A few good men.Brad Crowell 7:45 There may be a few good men coming with us too. But there are room for that. Lesley Logan 7:50 You can bring your partners. Brad Crowell 7:52 Yeah, we actually have a ticket specifically for the experience only for people who are like, hey, Pilates isn't my thing. But I want to go do the trip. Absolutely. Welcome to join us. Anyway, go to crowsnestretreats.com, crowsnestretreats.com. Lesley Logan 8:05 If you keep saying I'm going to the next one, I'm gonna go to the next one. Take this one, as we learned from Kel Cal. Brad Crowell 8:12 Yeah, that's right.Lesley Logan 8:13 Tomorrow doesn't exist, only today does. And so there are future trips don't exist yet. Just the ones we've got planned.Brad Crowell 8:19 That's true. That's true. Very, very true. Lesley Logan 8:21 Very unlikely. Brad Crowell 8:22 Why would you come to Cambodia with us? I'll tell you it is an experience of a lifetime. And I don't say that as like a, as like aLesley Logan 8:32 Every one of our retreaters has, like, I'm gonna come back like it's Brad Crowell 8:35 In fact, we've had multiple retreaters join us more than one time. It is just an incredible, incredible trip. The people are lovely. The environment is incredible. The jungles, the temples, I'm not even kidding you, it's The Jungle Book in real life. We literally get to walk around these incredible temples. You know, we're allowed to walk on them, around them, in them through them. It's, I, it's just mind-boggling. We get to eat incredible food. We practice Pilates, we build relationships and friends and fun. We get to go do a lotus farm we get to go like actually on a pond with all these amazing lotus and see the process (inaudible). There's so many incredible experiences in this trip. It is, I think of all the things that we do, what we do a lot, this is hands down my absolute favorite thing to do. And when we are retired someday, I will still do this. Lesley Logan 9:29 Yeah, yeah. No, it's true. It's part of the retirement plan. So crowsnestretreats.com, crowsnestretreats.com Brad Crowell 9:38 That's plural, crowsnestretreats.com. Lesley Logan 9:41 Yeah. All right. And lastly, in case you didn't know, all of this happens because of onlinepilatesclasses.com. And if you are not a member yet, we want to know why. But also we want you to try it out.Brad Crowell 9:53 Yeah, go join us. Lesley Logan 9:54 Yeah, it's OPC.me/40 it gives you a 40-day trial for only $1 a day. So 40 days for $40. And why are we doing 40 days? Because the reality is, is that like, it does take time to start something new. And it's not that it takes 40 days to (inaudible) happen in two days. But also like, we want you to experience two different monthly themes and multiple weekly classes and potentially join us for a live class and get feedback on your form and meet the community. So we want you to be able to have all the amazing experiences because we know that if you do that, you are an OPC life for like so many of our members. So OPC.me/40 for the best, most amazing community in the Pilates world. All right, before we get into Danny-J and Jill Coleman's episode, do we have an audience, a listener question, Mr. Brad?Brad Crowell 10:41 We sure do. Today, Tamara Gomez wrote in and she said she's hesitant to reach out with this question and really tried to figure it out on her own but for a 30-minute Pilates class how many cards would you pick out from your mat Pilates flashcard deck. I'm having a hard time designing the class around the amount of time that I choose. Lesley Logan 11:05 Yeah. So if you haven't yet gotten our mat flashcards, you should get them.Brad Crowell 11:09 Yeah, go to opc.me/flashcards. Lesley Logan 11:12 Yeah. So here's the thing. When Joseph Pilates created his mat work, if you did it on your own, and really, even if you're advanced, it takes you under 30 minutes to do all the cards. Brad Crowell 11:21 All of it. Lesley Logan 11:21 All of that. Brad Crowell 11:22 Yeah. That's gonna be two exercises in the official. Lesley Logan 11:24 I had someone reach out to me on YouTube going, can you create a 50-minute beginner workout on the Tower, Wunda Chair, a 50-minute on the reformer and 50-minute on the mat for beginners. I said, no, it's impossible. There's not even enough beginner exercises on each one, even if I combined them all together it wouldn't be 50 minutes. So like, no, without knowing the level of your class, I'm just going to assume they're all levels. So I'll have a class. So you probably will take out any of the overhead exercises, just be say, on the safe side. And so you'd be left with about 26-27 cards left, that actually could be 30-minute class right there. And if you just leave them in the order that they're in, it already has a set of action transition for you. So you don't have to do any work. You don't have to like reorder it at all. Now if you wanted to shuffle them, and like treat it like a tarot deck and see what comes next. You totally can there's nothing wrong with that. But I would say about 20 to 27 cards would be a 30-minute class without a problem. Brad Crowell 12:19 Yeah. And that's if you're not moving quick. Which was why I was laughing. Do you remember the year that we were at momentum fast and all the teachers were doing the close-out? Yeah, well, how many minutes? Did they give you? Five? Ten? Ten minutes. So and.Lesley Logan 12:33 And people were doing huggy and stretchy and Kumbaya and like all this and like they were you know, just all this stuff. And I was (inaudible), what are you gonna teach? And I was like, well, clearly, I'm gonna do some Pilates because I have it hasn't happened yet. So I just did the whole order.Brad Crowell 12:50 In ten minutes.Lesley Logan 12:51 In ten minutes.Brad Crowell 12:52 Ten minutes.Lesley Logan 12:53 I think I did it in less than that, because I'm pretty good at it. We did one rep of everything in under 10 minutes. The whole thing. And that's when I coined you can crab sooner than you think. And people loved it. And they all crab sooner than they were ready. And also they had done like 14 or 15 events over two days. They were like so sore. They're like, oh, but also like they all did it. And I was so proud of them. So, anyway, Tamara, I hope that helps. Brad Crowell 13:17 Great question. Lesley Logan 13:17 Great question. Thanks for getting the cards also, it really means a lot to me. I love that you use them to class plan. I love that it's helping you nerd out. And if you have any questions, you guys, about the flashcards you can certainly ask us. You can also go to opc.me/flashcards and you'll see all of the decks. Our fifth deck is in print as we speak.Brad Crowell 13:36 Yeah. It's gonna be released this summer. I guess technically it's summer. It'll be released in August or I guess could it be in September? We'll see how the printer is going. I'm pushing for August. Lesley Logan 13:47 He's pushing for August. I'm realistically saying September. I don't like disappointing people. If you have a question you want us to an swer we can answer anything. It doesn't have to be Pilates, it can be all the different things, we have different guests on, so feel free to send your questions in.Brad Crowell 13:59 (Inaudible) ask about all my amazing hats that I wear. Lesley Logan 14:02 Brad really does change his hats and he hopes you notice.Brad Crowell 14:05 But if you only watch on YouTube, then you'll see it. You can DM us on the gram or you can text us at 310-905-5534 to ask your questions. Stick around. We'll be right back. Brad Crowell 14:20 Okay, now let's talk about Danny-J. And Jill Coleman. Danny-J and Jill, co-hosts of The Best Life podcast, began their careers as personal trainers and fitness competitors. They bonded over shared experiences of discovering their husband's infidelities and their evolving views of fitness and nutrition. They aim to help women feel less alone. embrace change and let go of past identities to become the person they are meant to be. Yeah, and I I knew, I knew that story, (inaudible) but I forgot that story. Yeah, I totally forgot that story and, and listening to them rehash that, the experience of how a how they met and how their podcast came to be, was, was a little bit sad, but also a little bit amazing because it brought the two of them together. And, you know, they've been really close friends now for many years because of that. Yeah. Lesley Logan 15:17 Yeah, I think so I think like, I don't know, every time we say this, somebody gets mad and goes, I didn't want my dog to die, that nothing's good gonna come with that. But like, really, everything does happen for a reason, like, good, like you, there's, it's something is going to come out of this new journey that you're having. So this sucks that they are both cheated on. But they ended up having this new, amazing friendship. And now look, they both have amazing dudes that they are with. So like it all, it all works out, and they probably would not be where they are had it not happen. I really love that they share their story. And I love that Jill said you can't control what your spouse and other people in your life are doing. But you can always control what you decide to do. And we decide to make of it. Brad Crowell 16:02 What you decide to do and what you decide to make of it. Lesley Logan 16:04 Yes. So she went, like, that's what like Danny-J did by moving to L.A. and that was really, really hard for her to, the hard part of her life, hard time in her life. And so, but she was able to take some action. And then I liked that they talked about like always being focused on moving forward. So taking action, taking ownership and taking responsibility. So like we talked about like, you know why they started their podcast, but where they are today. And that's part of like, they're taking action, they're focused on moving forward, they're taking ownership and responsibility. It's not easy to do. Like we make mistakes all the time. And we kind of get embarrassed, but you feel like you can take responsibility for the things that go on in your life and how you can control what you're gonna do in that situation.Brad Crowell 16:46 We've definitely talked about this before that you can't control what others think and say and do. You can only control your own actions. And the way that you think, you know, in this case, it was it was really challenging for both Danny-J and for Jill to to empower themselves as their relationships or after their relationships. As they were ending or after their relationships. When they finally realized there's no change, the guys in the relationship, were not interested in fixing it. And both Danny-J and Jill couldn't, you have no control over them, right? So you can't change what they're going to say and do. Even though you felt like you guys have made a decision together to commit to each other, to do all these things, this is actually really challenging for me, because this is literally what happened to me, too, where I was pushing, pushing, pushing, pushing to fix it. And my ex finally said, I don't want to fix it, I will not fix it. And that was really shocking for me. Because why did we even do this in the first place? You know, and that was really, really hard for me to wrap my head around, you know, and I, just listening to their stories that made me kind of relive that a little bit in my of my own story and, you know, relate to them a little bit. And when they made the decision, I can control what I can do. That's what really gave them the power to move on with their own lives. And then now today, kick ass and take names. It's one of those moments when you're forced to realize that you can't control what other people think, say and do. That sucks. It's really, really probably a hard thing. But you're going to be better for it. Lesley Logan 18:22 Yeah, yeah. Brad Crowell 18:24 One of the things that Danny Jay was talking about, was that transformation actually comes slowly. Sometimes it comes slowly, to the point where you don't even notice it. This was after the, you know, after the separation with her ex. She said the last couple of years have been challenging for her. She, her mom passed away, she has like some people broke at her house. You know, she.Lesley Logan 18:51 She was robbed in Mexico twice.Brad Crowell 18:53 Oh, it was, it was in Mexico. That's right. Sorry.Lesley Logan 18:55 I don't know. And I think she was brought up there (inaudible). Brad Crowell 18:57 I thought there was one in Vegas? Lesley Logan 18:58 But there was twice in one week in Mexico. Brad Crowell 19:00 Yeah. And then she, she actually did have she does have PTSD, from childhood trauma. And, you know, she got stuck in a couple of interesting places to that. So she, you know, she decided to start really tackling that internally. She did ketamine, and she's done a lot of therapy sessions. And one therapy, one therapist told Danny something that I thought was, was interesting for me, because we've all heard of fight or flight, right? Or it's like the two things like you're, you're either running or you're fighting. Well, there's a third one that nobody ever talks about. And that's freezing.Lesley Logan 19:40 There's also fawn. There's a fourth. Fawn, a lot of women will fawn. So fawn Brad Crowell 19:46 F-A-W-N?Lesley Logan 19:47 Yeah. Brad Crowell 19:47 I didn't even know that.Lesley Logan 19:48 Yeah, so fawn is like it hap- Megan Fox talks about this when she was abused in a relationship. She was abused and what she did was like fawn which is like it's okay, you're okay. Don't worry, that was my fault, you start to make them feel better and you kind of like, not Damsel, but like you, the way to take control of the situation is to kind of like, it's not to yight back or do nothing. It's the play, yes, yeah.Brad Crowell 20:14 Yeah, this is really hilarious. I was actually going to tell a story about my fight, flight, or I experienced the third one, freeze. When I was camping when I was a kid. I was up in the upstate Pennsylvania, in the, in the woods, like hardcore in the middle of the woods. I was with the scouts and the Scoutmaster said, hey, there are bears here. So, you know, don't carry around food. Don't be stupid. If you see a bear, you know, get loud, right? And my friend decided to play a joke on me. I was adamant that I could walk through the campsite without using a flashlight, because I like night vision and being able to see the stars and stuff. And I was coming back down from my tent to the camp to like the big camp area where all the people are. And he snuck out from behind a tree on all fours pretending to be an animal. And I, I found out what I would do now moving forward, I would freeze and do nothing. Because that's what I did. I was like, like what? You know, and, and so I just looked up, fight, flight, fight, freeze, and fawn. And the examples that they came up with are all about a bear flight, run away from the bear, fight, fight the bear, freeze, play dead, fawn, keep the bear happy. And so I didn't know that. That's actually really, really interesting to me. Anyway, Danny-J was talking about the freeze response. And she said her therapist was, basically said, she's frozen, right? She's stuck. She's stuck in this this moment. And so she started doing more therapy and ketamine, and she had started to have some baby steps, which started to loosen things up in her life and allow some forward momentum to happen. And she said she's really proud of the shift that's begun to happen in her life, because it also sounds very healing. You know, ultimately, so I think that's amazing. Lesley Logan 22:13 Yeah. I just love these ladies. They're just so great. Brad Crowell 22:16 Yeah, both incredibly powerful and exuberant, they're just so fun to be around. They have great energy. Yeah. Love it. Yeah. Also, both of them have incredible minds for business, which is super fun. Because obviously, that's what I love to nerd out about. So, you know, we've, we've worked with both, both of them as coaches in our business over the years, and it's been exciting to take the things that they're suggesting and have experienced and are doing and incorporate them into the some of the things that we're doing, too. So, yeah, anyway, stick around. Brad Crowell 22:53 All right, so finally, let's talk about those Be It Action Items, what bold, executable, intrinsic or targeted action items can we take away from your convo with Danny-J and Jill Coleman? Jill was talking about her coaching experience and she starts talking about this as if principle.Lesley Logan 23:10 I had, by the way, I had not heard of this as if principle till after I named the podcast, Be It Till You See It, and it really is the as if principle. Brad Crowell 23:17 Yeah. So she has been working with a couple of coaches herself. And one of them, you know, sells millions of dollars a year in sales. And she started to think about this idea of like, what, what would my, you know, what would my coach do in this situation if he was going to make this decision? How would someone who's making millions of dollars in sales make this decision? Right? And so she began to think I need to make decisions as if I am a millions of dollars business owner, right? Because that's where I want to be, right? Which is, be it till you see it, y'all. So she said, there's going to be a gap, however, between where you feel comfortable and where you want to be. And she said, you need to ask yourself, what is my action here? If I were already the person that I'm trying to become what decision would I be making? What's the way that I can sort of step into that new version of myself, even if I'm still scared, because I am still me today. She suggested to picture the person that you want to be or, or the person that you look up to, that already has accomplished the thing that you're trying to accomplish or achieve the thing you're trying to achieve. And then filter your decisions through that lens. So she said also, she's been making some decisions that scare her, because they're out of her comfort zone. She hasn't made decisions like this before. And she said by committing to actions that scare you, you actually force yourself to follow through because you know, if you make a decision and you're like putting everything on the line, you have no choice now, suddenly, right?Lesley Logan 24:54 Yeah, it's kind of like when we even I know she hired more team when we are working with her and it's like you hired them and you're paying them do a job so you gotta give them the job to do so it's full steam ahead even if it scares you because Brad Crowell 25:06 You better make enough money to pay everyone you know so yeah. Exactly. What about you?Lesley Logan 25:12 Okay I've Danny-J's she said kill your ego and kill the old version of yourself so you can become the person you're meant to be. And I'm like this hard.Brad Crowell 25:20 Kill that ego. Lesley Logan 25:21 Danny-J's the hardest to be (inaudible). But she said, because if you cling to your old self, and how people perceive you, it'll hold you back. And people are gonna try to pull you back with your, into your old identity or be critical of your evolution. This happens. This has happened to me as like, I've evolved people like, oh, you're, you're not like this anymore. You're not like this anymore. I'm like, yeah, no, I don't have the time. I'm not doing that anymore. You know, so I cannot do that anymore. And it's you know, and then if you're a people-pleaser, that can be really easy to like, fall back in line, but you got to kill the ego, and kill the old version of yourself. And she said, stop beating yourself up for wanting to change or be different. And I think that's really, really important. It's okay if you want to be different. You just got to do the things you can be different. But she said, in order to be different, you have to be different. Which seems obvious, but guess what, you might forget that you can't just do the same morning routine, same work, same clothes, same friends, and then expect the day to be different, that is the definition of insanity. And she said you have to be able to let go of who you are to become the person you want to be. So go kill your ego, everyone, that is your Be It Action Item from Danny-J.Brad Crowell 26:30 I love it. Well, I want to know, actually, I want to know how do you kill your ego?Lesley Logan 26:37 I feel like that is the Ego is the Enemy book. And he kind of repeats himself 17 times so I feel like if you listen to the Cliff's Notes version of that, you are totally got it. Um, but yeah, I think that or it's therapy, lots of it, you know, or maybe it's like, honestly, you might not be giving a fuck about what other people think so it might actually be The Suttle Art of Not Giving a F*ck, instead of the Ego is the Enemy.Brad Crowell 27:04 That's both great books. Lesley Logan 27:06 Well, one or both of those books was in If Books Could Kill. And to be honest, I think you just need one sentence from each book. And you've got, you've got the whole book, so you don't need to go buy them. You can just like get the Cliff's Notes, I swear. And that is how you're gonna kill your ego, I think, but also, I'd really think it's going to be part of being it until you see it. It's gonna take kill your ego isn't me going back to Jill's and like, what are the things that you'd be doing if you weren't letting your ego drive you (inaudible) things.Brad Crowell 27:34 Yeah. And ego creates fear. Ego creates that lack of confidence or the other end of the spectrum, ego creates arrogance, or, you know, short sightedness, blindness, those kinds of things. So, you know, ego covers the whole spectrum. Yeah. All right. Fair enough. All right.Lesley Logan 27:51 I'm Lesley Logan.Brad Crowell 27:52 And I'm Brad Crowell.Lesley Logan 27:53 Thank you so much for listening to this episode. I hope you got out of it as much as we did. Feeling stuck in a procrastination rut? It's a place I know well. You want to move forward with your goals, but that pesky voice of "I'll do it tomorrow" keeps you frozen, unable to actually start. Let's be honest – we all experience dips in motivation. Even the most enthusiastic leaders and dedicated employees have those days when getting fired up about work is tougher than usual. But the good news is it doesn't have to be permanent! In this podcast, I want to share some hard-earned lessons about breaking out of motivational slumps. As self-aware leaders, we need to dive into the why behind our lack of motivation so we can move past it effectively. The Drain of Demotivation Before we tackle the fixes, let's be clear about the costs of low motivation. Lacking energy to tackle your goals isn't something to just grin and bear: Productivity Takes a Nosedive: Without that spark, we drag our feet, projects lag, and output decreases. Stress Skyrockets: As deadlines loom and work piles up, our anxiety ratchets up several notches. Self-Doubt Creeps In: The relentless "What's wrong with me?" self-criticism erodes confidence and makes us feel even more paralyzed. Mental & Physical Health Suffers: Feeling down and out impacts sleep, concentration, and overall well-being. See where this is going? Low motivation isn't benign. It's important to take action when you're feeling more stuck than strategic. Conquering the Motivation Monster So what's the fix? This is where self-awareness shines! The key is to pinpoint WHY you're feeling unmotivated and tackle the root cause: Cause #1: The Overwhelm Overload If your to-do list is causing heart palpitations, here's what to do: The Art of "No": Learn to protect your time. Saying a simple "I'm over capacity right now" can make a world of difference. Distraction Elimination: Phones buzzing, people popping in? Clear the decks so your focus can return. Prioritize Like a Pro: List everything, then rank by urgency/importance. Start at the top, and forget the rest (for now!). Cause #2: Burnout Strikes Exhaustion kills motivation faster than anything. Try these strategies: Harness Your Peak Hours: Notice when your energy is high – do complex work then, and save routine tasks for the inevitable afternoon slump. Breaks Are Your Friend: Don't be a hero. Step away for a walk, coffee with a colleague, or even a 5-minute meditation. Work-Life Balance is Non-Negotiable: Avoid the 24/7 trap. Fully disconnecting after hours is crucial for long-term energy levels. Cause #3: Fear of Failure Syndrome If perfectionism and worry are keeping you stuck, consider these mind shifts: Aim for "Good Enough": Messy first drafts are better than no drafts! Remember, you can always revise later. Build Momentum with Starting Habits: Simple routines you do before diving into work prime your brain and reduce resistance. Blur Preparation and Action: Ease into tough tasks by starting with small 'prep'-related steps. Often, you'll find yourself just doing the thing! Cause #4: The Apathy Attack When you don't care about the work, finding that drive can feel impossible. Try this: Remember Your Why: Write down the real reasons you need this job, value this project, etc. Keeping those reasons visible helps. Connect for a Cause: Socializing with colleagues creates community and a sense of shared purpose. Seek New Challenges: Ask for more, propose new initiatives. Growth is a powerful motivator. You Got This – And I'm Cheering You On! Don't expect to be motivated 100% of the time. But, with practice, you'll build those mental muscles to break out of motivation ruts faster. Let's ditch the "I'll do it tomorrow" blues and make each day count! Let me know in the comments – which of these motivation drains hits you the hardest?

Kristen reminisces about her modeling days with Jenna and discuss the New York style. The absence of jewelry sparks a discussion, leading to the unanimous decision that the outfit is a miss. As we delve into Jenna's reunion show attire, they discuss the importance of being extra, not urban. Kristen defends Jenna's versatility, despite our criticism. We announce Jenna's departure from the series, recognizing her as a fashion icon but urging her to utilize her platform better. The focus shifts to Adrienne Maloof's Christmas look, praised by everyone and yes, it is one of Pol's best creations. Transitioning to the Elvis Quiz, we engage in a lively trivia session. Kristen impresses with her knowledge but falters on a few questions. How much does she really know about Elvis? We test her knowledge in the game. Fashion Faux Pas & Elvis Trivia delivers a mix of fashion critique, nostalgic anecdotes, and lighthearted trivia, showcasing the dynamic chemistry of all of us and our diverse interests. The final part of the coffee reading, Pol' interprets the leftover grinds in Kristen's cup, advising her to embrace new opportunities, reignite her passion, and find spiritual fulfillment. In today's episode, we once again encounter a theme that's becoming all too familiar: humans becoming chaos monsters. Jabin, king of Canaan, and Sisera, the commander of his army, are depicted as serpents in Judges 4, and the humans who overcome these two dragons are two women, Deborah and Jael. Join Tim and Jon as they explore the theme of the dragon in the scroll of Judges.View more resources on our website →Timestamps Part one (00:00-11:44)Part two (11:44-28:25)Part three (28:25-42:07)Part four (42:07-50:01)Referenced ResourcesThe Hebrew and Aramaic Lexicon of the Old Testament, Ludwig Koehler, Walter Baumgartner, and Johann Jakob StammInterested in more?
