A podcast where we watch coming of age movies and mess around with them by twisting the plot!
Happy new year! This year we're embracing our true, stuffed-olive selves along with Georgia from Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging! (2008) Join us as we remember exactly what it's like to be an awkward teen girl in Britain in the mid 2000s (at least for one of us, anyway!). Follow us on socie at @plottwisterspod!
It's Christmaaaaaaas! Once again Emma and Anders are getting merry, letting down their hair, and just goofing around even more than usual. This week, a mutual secret crush is discussed, the one, the only, Ryan Reynolds! Get ready for some Christmas cheer with your favourite plot twisters. Grab some eggnog, deck those halls, and prepare yourself for some holiday ridiculousness! Oh and at some point we do talk about the 2005 classic Just Friends.
This week we join the cheerocracy and discuss the 2000 classic Bring it on. We're talking rich kinds, cheerleading competitions, and wondering what we've seen Kirsten Dunst in lately? For the twist, Anders (who may have consumed too much sugar today) goes completely off the rials. He tries to tie together rival identical twin cheerleaders, identical cheers, and of course the mantra, go forth with a song in your heart, Healys on your feet, and a spear in your belly!
This week we watched Final Destination, and are feeling pretty proud of ourselves for getting through another scary movie. On this episode we discuss life, death, mental health, and of course the cultural phenomenon that is people getting hit by busses in TV and film. Oh and malt balls, MALT BALLLLLLLLS!
This week we're at it again, hanging out with the plastics and trying to make fetch happen. We're discussing the 2004 film Mean Girls. Emma shares how much she loves this movie and what it meant to her growing up, meanwhile Anders watched it for the first time, and basically misses the entire core message! Oh and get ready for the twist, Mean Squirrels...
WHAZZZUUUUUUP! This week we watched the iconic parody film Scary Movie. We discuss the parallels between the Cadbury's gorilla and the Whazzuup beer commercials of the 2000s, the difficul and elusive art form of parody, and wether or not commenting on culture is in fact creating culture. For the twist we go very meta and make a parody of a parody movie, oh and for some reason it becomes a Christmas film where we discuss the Santa multiverse…. strap in!
Big day over here at Plot Twisters HQ. Not only are we commencing our third season, and exploring new territories in the 2000s, but we're launching it with a big one: it's Twilight (2008). Let us know what you think about Plot Twisters: plottwisterspod@gmail.com
It all culminates in this. We're rounding out our second season with a real treat for you; it's the movie that 'killed teen movies', that references EVERYTHING we've discussed so far... it's Not Another Teen Movie (2001)! This is also our 100th episode! Thanks so much for listening to our fun little podcast, we've loved doing it, and can't wait to do more! Stay up to date with what we're up to over on the social medias @plottwisterspod or on Facebook: Plot Twisters Podcast. See you in season three!

Will you like this episode? It's a sure thing! … well, actually, not necessarily… it kind of depends on your opinion of the movie The Sure Thing (1985)! We're talking about how public transport would influence this movie, Emma's a cow and Anders is a pig, Hell 2: Worse Hell, and a good old dose of toxic masculinity. Follow us on social media @plottwisterspod or send us an email plottwisterspod@gmail.com!
Another day another John Hughs film, Uncle Buck! On this episode we discuss the irreplaceable charisma of John Candy, the rise of Macaulay Culkin, Anders' obsession with bands with food names, oh and for some reason we decide the best way to twist this movie is to make an over the top clips episode of Uncle Buck including a catfish fishing competition to marry the heart attack dad's daughter. Oh and for all our fans who use the podcast to go to sleep to, we have a special treat just for you at the end of this episode…
I don't care too much for money… but I DO care for the 1987 film Can't Buy Me Love! At least… that's the consensus from the week's episode of Plot Twisters. There'd be a spoiler alert, but Emma has an emotional moment about it pretty early on in the episode. In this one: teenage Emma shows up, a sign of things to come for season three - Patrick Dempsey, emo kids, and lots of FABULOUS outfits. Be our internet friend over at @plottwisterspod on all socials!
Hey everyone, after an unplanned hiatus, we're back and we've missed you all terribly! On today's episode we discuss Dead Poets Society, and don't at us, but we both think it's a little overrated. We discuss the amazing Robin Wiliams and do some questionable impressions of him, Anders' hatred of poetry, charcuterie boards, and for some reason a Rosencrantz and Guildenstern style mashup between this film and Flashdance.
In this week's episode we discuss the 1983 classic The Outsiders. This film has so many famous people in it, we basically can't handle it. Also we make the realisation that everyone in this world is in fact, either a "Soc" or a "Greeser" including Ross from Friends, and we ask why we live in a world that doesn't acknowledge your good work? We don't know who needs to hear this right now, but hey you, cool beans, and well done!
Are you ready for an episode that is several kinds of wonderful? Today we're talking John Hughes and his lifelong attempt at writing the perfect teen film, and asking why Eric Stoltz is so darn moody? We also discuss: me, my drum, you, and of course throuples, for some reason.
