It clones code into a secure Google Cloud VM, allowing it to understand the full context of a project. This enables it to write tests, build features, fix bugs, and more. Jules operates asynchronously in the background, presenting its plan and reasoning when complete. This allows developers to focus on other tasks while it works. Integration with GitHub enables Jules to work directly in existing workflows without extra setup or context switching. Developers can steer and give feedback throughout the process. For cloud developers, Jules demonstrates the rapid advancement of AI for coding moving from prototype to product. Its cloud-based parallel execution enables efficient handling of complex, multi-file changes. While in public beta, Jules is free with some usage limits. This allows developers to experiment with this cutting-edge AI coding agent and understand its potential to accelerate development on Google Cloud. 02:56 Ryan – “More and more, as new tools get released, it's just going to change the way anything gets written… it's getting more and more capable.”  05:45 Introducing Flow: Google's AI filmmaking tool designed for Veo

As difficult as it is to get a handle on the chaos and confusion of Trump's shifting policies, we continue to ask wise friends for their perspective. This week Steve is speaking with Australian economist Bill Mitchell, a founder of MMT and a regular guest of this podcast. Bill helps us unpack the capitalist contradictions driving global instability. Steve asks if we should be looking at Trump's actions as a continuation of the neoliberal trajectory as described in Bill's book, Reclaiming the State. Bill replies that he doesn't even see it as a natural extension of neoliberalism:“Neoliberalism is about co-opting the state to pursue advantage for selected groups in the society, the top end of town, as I call them. So there's an element of that, but there's sort of a deep irrationality going on here. Neoliberalism is a systematic, contrived pattern of behavior and strategy, whereas it's hard to assess whether there is anything systematic and strategic going on here.”Bill elaborates on the irrational policy decisions like tariffs and their failure to revive American manufacturing, as well as the repercussions of reduced public investment in education and infrastructure. He talks about international reactions and global repercussions. He and Steve also critique the role of social media and the dangerous effects of the dominant ideological bias. Bill suggests that the disillusionment with traditional political parties is driving many towards reactionary extremism. They discuss the severe decline in education and the move to control universities through ideological audits.Bill Mitchell is a Professor in Economics and Director of the Centre of Full Employment and Equity (CofFEE), at the University of Newcastle, NSW, Australia. His most recent books are Modern Monetary Theory: BIll and Warren's Excellent Adventure, co-authored with Warren Mosler (2024), and the Modern Monetary Theory textbook, Macroeconomics, co-authored with L. Randall Wray and Martin Watts (2019).Follow Bill's work at https://billmitchell.org/blog/

Merriam-Webster's Word of the Day

Merriam-Webster's Word of the Day for April 21, 2025 is: bodacious • boh-DAY-shuss • adjective Bodacious is used as an informal synonym of remarkable and noteworthy, as well as sexy and voluptuous. In some dialects of the Southern and Midland US, bodacious is used by its oldest meaning: "outright, unmistakable." // The bodacious decor of the boutique hotel is intended to appeal to the young and the hip. See the entry > Examples: "There's no need to lug in a 6-foot specimen tree to add bodacious botanicals into your home, because even the smallest planters can make a big impact when intentionally pairing striking foliage with a unique vessel." — Kristin Guy, Sunset Magazine, 5 Mar. 2024 Did you know? Some of our readers may know bodacious as a word that figured prominently in the lingo of the 1989 film Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. Others may recall the term's frequent use in the long-running "Snuffy Smith" comic strip. Neither the creators of the comic strip nor the movie can claim to have coined bodacious, which began appearing in print in the mid-1800s, but both surely contributed to its popularity. The exact origin of the word is uncertain, but it is most likely a blend of bold and audacious, and it may be linked to boldacious, a now-rare British dialect term meaning "brazen" or "impudent."

Send us a textEpisode 205 of the Hey You Guys Podcast is here, and this week, Liam and Rob look back at one of the strangest sequels of the 90s. Always considered Excellent Adventure's poor relation, does 1991's Bill & Ted' Bogus Journey deserves re-evaluation? Is it more ambitious than it is given credit for? Could it, dare I ask, actually be better than the original? Listen in via the link in the bio to find out.

This month the guys sat down with a previous guest and he brought a friend! We have Kalman Tinka and Connor Bos (aka Ghost Mule and Hot Pants) in the studio. During our normal check-in Kyle had a HUGE announcement, he is now engaged! After the rest of the check-in, Trevor covered his homework from the last episode, then we moved onto our main topic. In a bit of a different direction than our normal episodes, we talked about a brand-new route that Kalman and Connor created and will be attempting the summer of 2025 in the Absaroka-Beartooth wilderness in Montana. We talk about the route itself, resupply strategies, the main challenges that the route will present, bear precautions they are taking, portions of the route they are most looking forward to, what makes their hiking partnership work, and finally why they are undertaking this challenge. It was great having Kalman on again and having Connor on for the first time. We are stoked for their trip this summer and wish them all the luck in the world! How does film and TV make time travel real? Ellen E Jones and Mark Kermode take a quantum leap into the world of time travel and time loops on screen, from Back To The Future to Groundhog Day. Mark speaks to theoretical physicist Sean Carroll about how movies like Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure and Interstellar have handled the science of time travel - and whether it really is just the stuff of fantasy. And he talks to Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Knives Out director Rian Johnson about the dramatic allure of playing with time, and about Rian's 2012 film Looper, which starred Bruce Willis as a criminal sent back to the past to be eliminated by his younger self. Meanwhile, Ellen explores a sub-genre less concerned with mechanics and physics, and more with emotion and moral dilemmas - the time loop story. She speaks to Black Doves screenwriter Joe Barton about his time loop TV series The Lazarus Project. And film critic Anne Billson runs her through some examples of the genre she finds most - and least - captivating, from Palm Springs to About Time.Produced by Jane Long A Prospect Street production for BBC Radio 4

From the SAG-AFTRA picket lines to the New York Times lawsuit against OpenAI, the battle over AI's role in creative industries is heating up. In this second episode of The Dynamist's series on AI and copyright, we dive into the messy reality of how artists, creators, and tech companies are navigating this rapidly evolving landscape. Our guests bring unique perspectives to this complex debate: Mike Masnick, CEO of Techdirt, who's been chronicling the intersection of tech and copyright for decades; Alex Winter, the filmmaker and actor known for Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure, who offers boots-on-the-ground insight from his involvement in recent Hollywood labor negotiations; and Tim Hwang, Senior Fellow at FAI, who explores how current legal battles could shape AI's future. The conversation covers everything from "shakedown" licensing deals between AI companies and media outlets to existential questions about artistic value in an AI age. While the guests acknowledge valid concerns about worker protection and fair compensation, they challenge the notion that restricting AI development through copyright law is either practical or beneficial. Drawing parallels to past technological disruptions like Napster, they explore how industries might adapt rather than resist change while still protecting creators' interests.

Happy New Year! Shoot off the fireworks, toot the noisemakers, and make yourself a nice plate of black-eyed peas, collard greens, and cornbread. Do you have any resolutions this year? A word or mantra for the year? No? Well, you're in luck. We're here to help with that by way of four movie recommendations. Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986)First up is the 1986 John Hughes comedy classic, Ferris Bueller's Day Off. The real righteous dudes in the audience will know why this film has a great movie mantra, but if you don't, you're in luck! We'll tell you all about it in today's show. Galaxy Quest (1999)Next is the 1999 love letter to Star Trek, Galaxy Quest. This comedy is a wonderful send-up of classic Star Trek, but is also a fascinating meta-commentary on stardom, fandom, and geek culture. By Grabthar's Hammer, you best pick this one up for another fantastic movie mantra. It's a Wonderful Life (1946)Frank Capra's 1946 film, It's a Wonderful Life, is a timeless Christmas classic, but it's got one of the best movie mantras in history. Starring Jimmy Stewart, Donna Reed, Henry Travers, and Lionel Barrymore, this drama still rings true today and is worth watching as we start the new year. Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure (1989)We close our movie mantras this week with another comedy, 1989's Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure. While yes, the tagline reads, “History's about to be rewritten by two guys who can't spell,” this is a comedy that still writes a wonderful movie mantra. Filled with cameos from comedians, rock stars, and more, Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure is a delightful sci-fi comedy. Strange things will be afoot at the Video Store if you don't pick this one up. From all of us here at the Video Store Podcast, we hope your new year is a great one. Thanks for reading Video Store Podcast! Subscribe for free to receive new posts and support my work. Welcome to the most excellent future, Void! We are here in our garage playing our guitars (plucking strings) to make the most bodacious music (cacophonous garbage). This week we watched the documentary film about public high school in San Dimas in "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure." Erin and Brennan discuss REAL history: the realities of plate armor, an extensive discussion on medieval torture, and Joan d'Arc not being Noah's wife (though she may have believed it). We talked about how this movie is the American version of Dr. Who, how charisma can really take you places, and why spelling matters (Wyld Stallyns is more of a Monty Python sketch than a rock band). Overall, we learned to be excellent to one another and to party on, dude! This podcast is in no way an actual review of the city of San Dimas, California or its educational system.

Don't bring Freud along with you to pick up babes, earn that Ziggy Piggy button, and join us as we swing wildly between entertainment and frustration while discussing, Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure!
