This week we're revisiting Daisy's interview with Tabby Chapman from April 2022. Tabby Chapman is a survivor of the NXIVM cult, an American cult that has been exposed as engaging in trafficking, forced labour and racketeering. The cult advertised itself as a self-help development service whilst recruiting women for a secret society called "DOS" in which women were abused. In early 2018, NXIVM's founder, Keith Raniere, and his associate, actress Allison Mack, were arrested and indicted on federal charges. Since escaping the cult, Tabby has now trained as a Professional Clinical Counsellor, specialising in Marriage and Family therapy as a way to turn her experiences into help for others. She is also the founder of the Freedom Train Project, an advocacy program for people wishing to leave cults or coercive relationships. Gabby Garcia was born a conjoined twin; at 8 months old went under highly risky surgery to separate her from her twin, Kayla. 13 years later, the mesh that was used to separate them caused complications - resulting in Kayla's death, just one day after Gabby had been cleared to leave hospital herself. Encina Severa has lived with dissociative identity disorder (known as 'DID') for her entire life, with eleven alter personalities that were formed as a coping mechanism in response to childhood trauma. DID (previously known as multiple personality disorder) is a complex medical disorder where a person presents multiple distinct personalities, which can display in their voice, physical body language as well as the name they identify as. On Boxing Day 2004, Ani Naqvi was woken up by a loud bang. As she sought to discover the root of this noise, she soon found herself underwater as water filled her hut and she became, in her own words, "like a grain of rice in a washing machine". It was what would become known as the Indian Ocean Tsunami - the most powerful earthquake every recorded in Asia, with a magnitude of 9.1-9.3. An estimated 227,898 in 14 countries died due to the tsunami and it is considered one of the deadliest natural disasters in recorded history. As a survivor of this, Ani has had to face up to her own survivors guilt to find meaning in life. Now she dedicates her life to inspiring the same amount of people as those who perished in the disaster. When Stephen Gillen was dropped in the middle of Belfast at the height of The Troubles, he didn't yet know just how the war surrounding him would impact the rest of his life. From 1985 to 2006, he worked at the British Government's Ministry of Defence; from 1991 working in Secretariat (Air Staff) Sec (AS) 2a more commonly known as the "UFO desk", where his duties included investigating reports of UFO sightings, to see if they had any defence significance. In 2016, upon leaving the Ministry of Defence, Nick Pope announced that the government had ceased its research into UFOs. This week we're revisiting Daisy's interview with Chris Lemons from February 2022. Chris Lemons has been a deep sea diver for over 14 years, but a freak accident in 2012 nearly cut things short. February 14th 2018 is the day that everything changed for Aalayah Eastmond. Whilst in her Holocaust History class at High School (the now infamous Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida), what she first thought was a prank turned out to be her worst nightmare as a shooter had breached campus. Minutes after first hearing gunshots, her classroom became a target for the shooter. Within six minutes of hell, he had shot 34 people, killing 17. Hippos are amongst the deadliest animals in the world, and few know the risk better than Paul Templer. On January 13th 2012, Ian Donoff was just days into his honeymoon when his life (and that of thousands of others on-board the now infamous Costa Concordia) was put at risk. Anthony Broadwater serviced 16 years in prison for a crime he did not commit - the brutal rape of best-selling author Alice Sebold. After he was released from prison in 1998, he then spent another 23 years as a registered sex offender. Tabby Chapman is a survivor of the NXIVM cult, an American cult that has been exposed as engaging in trafficking, forced labour and racketeering. The cult advertised itself as a self-help development service whilst recruiting women for a secret society called "DOS" in which women were abused. In early 2018, NXIVM's founder, Keith Raniere, and his associate, actress Allison Mack, were arrested and indicted on federal charges. Since escaping the cult, Tabby has now trained as a Professional Clinical Counsellor, specialising in Marriage and Family therapy as a way to turn her experiences into help for others. Chris Lemons has been a deep sea diver for over 14 years, but a freak accident in 2012 nearly cut things short.
