Meet Jesse Crosson, author of The Best Part of Prison, founder of the Second Chancer Foundation, an inspirational voice for second chances, and now a social media influencer. But that wasn't how it all started. At just 18 years old, Jesse's life changed forever after a robbery and shooting led to a 32-year prison sentence. What followed was nearly two dec-ades behind bars, time that could have defined his life in one direction but instead became the foundation for profound personal growth. During his incarceration, Jesse found mentors, discovered the power of reading and writing, earned a college degree, and began reshaping his identity. After serving nearly 19 years, he was granted clemency and released, stepping into a world transformed by technology, opportunity, and responsibility. Today, Jesse uses his lived experience to help others find freedom, not just from incarceration, but from the emotional and mental barriers that hold people back. Through his foundation, public speaking, and widely followed social media platforms, he's found a voice for good, a voice that says, even the hardest obstacles can become opportunities for growth.

Cumberland Heights is one of the most consistently profitable non-profit treatment programs in the country. If you look at the 990s of many well-known non-profit treatment programs, they have consistent annual fiscal deficits when donor contributions are removed from the P&L. They have also continued to successfully expand throughout the state, adding on service lines and locations. In this episode, I speak with CEO Jay Crosson to learn just what it is about Cumberland Heights' strategy that has made is so consistently successful.

In 2022, as a final-year law student, Haggstrom faced university sanctions for an open letter encouraging dialogue on race, racism, and affirmative action policies (e.g., extra exam time accommodations), which some peers labeled as "hate speech" and "harassment." The University of Saskatchewan deemed it non-academic misconduct, requiring a public apology and statement of regret. Supported by Freedoms Advocate, he sued in 2025, seeking to quash the ruling and challenge university policies for lacking procedural fairness and infringing Charter rights. To watch the Full Cornerstone Forum: https://open.substack.com/pub/shaunnewmanpodcastGet your voice heard: Text Shaun 587-217-8500Silver Gold Bull Links:Website: https://silvergoldbull.ca/Email: SNP@silvergoldbull.comText Grahame: (587) 441-9100Bow Valley Credit UnionBitcoin: www.bowvalleycu.com/en/personal/investing-wealth/bitcoin-gatewayEmail: welcome@BowValleycu.com Use the code “SNP” on all ordersProphet River Links:Website: store.prophetriver.com/Email: SNP@prophetriver.comExpat Money SummitWebsite: ExpatMoneySummit.com

In the inaugural live stream of the class Paul the Pharisee: Faith and Politics in a Divided World, John Dominic Crossan joins me to dig into the radical historical Paul. Crosson argues for the importance of understanding Paul within the context of the historical Jesus, despite Paul's often radical and misunderstood teachings. We explore topics like Paul's controversial stance on gender and slavery, backed by textual analysis, and the influence of his letters within early Christian communities. The session also discusses the story of Thecla as an archetype of Paul's radical vision and how these narratives have been reshaped to fit different sociopolitical contexts. Questions from participants help flesh out the complexities around Paul's portrayal in the New Testament and subsequent interpretations. To access all 5 of Crossan's lectures, submit questions, and join future live streams, head here to join the class.
