In today's episode of Milk Road, we break down the two forces that are controlling Bitcoin and the entire crypto market right now, and why nothing else matters until they resolve. Bitcoin is hovering around $70K… but this isn't strength. It's uncertainty. Behind the scenes, a massive macro story is unfolding: a global energy shock, rising geopolitical tensions, and one of the biggest shifts in financial markets in decades. At the same time, crypto is waiting on regulatory clarity that could reshape the industry.~~~~~

This episode examines how exercise and nutrition interact to influence glycaemic control, with particular focus on the postprandial period (i.e., the hours after eating) and on "time-efficient" exercise strategies such as low-volume interval training. Dr. Jenna Gillen outlines the physiological basis for why muscle contraction can acutely reduce post-meal glucose excursions, why repeated sessions can accumulate into longer-term improvements in insulin sensitivity, and why the nutrition context (pre- and post-exercise feeding, carbohydrate availability, and energy balance) can meaningfully alter observed outcomes. A key translational thread is that many clinically relevant improvements may come from small, feasible doses of activity; especially post-meal walking and brief "exercise snacks" used to interrupt sedentary time. However, the discussion considers who these interventions matter for most (and least). Postprandial glucose rises are normal in healthy individuals, whereas reducing exaggerated excursions is most relevant for those with insulin resistance, prediabetes, or type 2 diabetes (T2D). Dave: The Amazing Spider-Man #23 (Taurin Clarke Cover) Or Maybe Alex: X-Men #26 (Gurihiru Marvel Monster Variant) Interview: Steve Orlando Deadweight (GUNGNIR Publishing) (with Bobby Lee & Matthew Medney) Deadweight sounds completely unhinged in the best way, blending martial arts chaos, horror, and absurdist comedy. When you're co-writing something that springs so directly from Bobby Lee's comedic voice, how do you balance honoring that raw unpredictability while still building a story with emotional stakes and structure? Valiant Beyond: X-O Manowar (out Feb 18) In Valiant Beyond: X-O Manowar, Aric joins the PunX after millennia of isolation, and suddenly honor is tied to community rather than conquest. How has it been carving out your own corner of the Valiant universe? Good Bones Good Bones gathers your horror work into a single anthology, and many of the stories explore queer identity through transformation, secrecy, and bodily autonomy. When you write horror rooted in identity, are you consciously using the genre as metaphor, or does that symbolism emerge naturally through character? Dragula (with Todd McFarlane) You co-judged Dragula alongside Todd McFarlane, which feels like a collision of comics horror and performance art. Did that experience teach you anything about spectacle and theatricality, or inspire you when you're comics work? DC AEW DC and AEW both thrive on spectacle, but they also rely heavily on character-driven drama and long-term storytelling. When writing DC x AEW #1, how did you balance the over-the-top, live-event energy with making sure the character pairings felt emotionally and thematically right, rather than just fun visual mashups? Scarlet Witch Can you talk about or tease the status of Wanda and Vision's relationship as of now? Agatha Harkness is your main antagonist in Sorcerer Supreme, what makes her fun to write? Agatha is the Vishanti's chosen sorcerer supreme, I was curious if you're drawing from any personal life experience having someone be picked over you when writing this story arc? Your run on Scarlet Witch has been released via miniseries, are there advantages (and disadvantages) to this format? Wanda Maximoff has worn a lot of labels over the years—Avenger, sorceress, reality shaper, occasional cosmic wildcard. How do you personally view her place in that ecosystem? Additional General Questions Your bibliography moves fluidly between superhero epics, indie horror, licensed work, and now chaotic comedy with Deadweight. How do you recalibrate your voice between projects without losing what makes a story feel unmistakably yours?

While fear spreads about job loss, software disruption, and economic upheaval, the fundamentals tell a different story. We explore how AI agents, autonomous economies, and exploding capital investment may actually increase demand for decentralized finance, digital scarcity, and onchain infrastructure. Here is the proposed preamble to a new Constitution for Public Education, conceived by the visionary teacher and organizer Jay Gillen: “Every middle-schooler will have the expectation that when they are in high school they will have a good-paying job, sharing knowledge or skills with peers, younger children, or other people in their communities.” He offers this radical proposal in order to propel a conversation and an organizing focus toward building a broad national consensus about how children should be prepared to grow up with dignity and strength in all of our communities. When he recasts the language of the preamble slightly—“If we could pay teenagers to do things that benefit their communities, contribute to the education and culture of younger children, and incidentally advance their own educations, it would be a good thing”—Gillen argues that we already have enormous sympathy in principle. And so we move on to specific steps we might take and concrete principles we might adopt which are surprisingly practical—and within reach. We're joined by Jay Gillen, author of Educating for Insurgency and The Power in the Room, and Jamarria Hall, a student advocate and lead plaintiff in Gary B. v. Whitmer, the Right to Literacy case that argued the Detroit public schools were “functionally incapable of delivering access to literacy,” and resulted in a $94.4 million settlement in 2023.

Jack is joined by Charlie Parrish to react to the FA Cup exit at the hands of Aston Villa. We start with the grim realisation that, once again, Tottenham's vague hopes of silverware have been all but extinguished in January. We discuss the apathy of facing the next five months playing for nothing but league position, and why this specific failure feels like the final straw for many. Conversation turns to the toxic atmosphere inside the stadium, specifically the moment Spurs fans joined the away end in singing "You're getting sacked in the morning" at Thomas Frank. Is the relationship now terminally broken? We then analyse the performance itself: a shambolic first half followed by a spirited second. We discuss the theory that Xavi Simons and the squad looked significantly better only when they seemingly stopped following the manager's rigid instructions and started playing with freedom. Finally, we react to the news confirmed by David Ornstein that Fabio Paratici is set to leave the club for Fiorentina, and what that means for the structure of the club moving forward. Discussion turns to the January window: with the club seemingly obsessed with "prospects" and "possibles" for the future, will we actually see any first-team action to help us in the here and now? Each year, in recognition of the National Day of Mourning/Thanksgiving holiday in the United States, we examine how British colonialism is irrevocably intertwined with Shakespeare. Over the past four years, we explored this topic through close reading of Jyotsna Singh's Shakespeare and Postcolonial Theory.  After completing our episodes on Shakespeare and Postcolonial Theory, we wanted to turn to highlighting and amplifying the work of artists, activists, and scholars who are working in decolonial Shakespeares.  In this year's episode, we are joined by Dr. Katherine Gillen and Ruben Ramirez of the Borderlands Shakespeare Collectiva to discuss how artists, activists, scholars, and educators in the U.S.-Mexico Borderlands engage with Shakespeare in ways that reflect their lived realities. We discuss the plays from this region that adapt or appropriate Shakespeare and how these texts can be used in the classroom or in production alongside Shakespeare's text to illuminate themes and engage new audiences.
