The worst part about these products is that not only are they without positive effects, they may actually cause damage and be dangerous to your body. Our Health During the Young Adult Years

Our young adult years from about age 18 to 35 years are very important. These years typically are very dynamic and we experience a great deal of change.  Change in living situations, work environments, co-workers, friends, family and more.  At the same time, it is this period when we establish patterns of living and behaviors that can last a lifetime and have major influence over our health in the young adult years and for decades to come. If you are in this age group, now is a great time to start thinking about what you're doing and how you might change things up to improve your health. If you are older, reflecting back on these years is important to see how they may influence your current health and consider activities going forward that can improve your health.

In this special episode, we discuss the steps you can take to begin your health journey. We start by recalling back to our earlier years and creating a list (an inventory) of our previous health challenges. We then think of the present time and create a list of our current health challenges. In the end, after we think carefully about our past and present, we then can look ahead.  When we look ahead, let's first rank those present health conditions or challenges we have. In the ranking system described in this podcast, you will begin to identify those health priorities.  These health priorities then begin to focus our attention and help to frame the beginning of our health journey going forward. Let's start this today and start by listening to this special episode. Thank you!   Dr. Paul Kilgore, MD, MPH.

In this episode, we begin to define what is normal blood pressure, elevated blood pressure, high blood pressure Stage 1, high blood pressure Stage 2 and "hypertensive crisis". Understanding your own blood pressure measured by your doctor, nurse or other health-care provider or the blood pressure you measure using an automated blood pressure device at home is very important. Many of us are walking around with high blood pressure. When we do that, we run the risk of suffering the consequences of high blood pressure including heart disease and stroke. In this episode, we begin to discuss things we can do to lower our blood pressure---some of which include the "non-pharmacologic" or interventions that do not involve taking medicine. Please let me know if you find this episode helpful by writing a review and rating Quantitative Health podcast.  Thank you so much.  Yours in good health, Dr. Paul Kilgore, MD, MPH.

When getting our "health house" in order, we can take small steps. But these can be very important steps to help ensure our own health and even the health of our loved ones, friends and neighbors. One of these steps is listing all of the medicines we take for our health. In this episode, I discuss how you can create a list of prescription and over-the-counter medicines as well as supplements and vitamins. In this episode, you'll learn why this is important and how it can actually improve the care you receive when you go to the doctor or need emergency care. If we are a caregiver for a family member, friend or neighbor, making a list for yourself and the one's you care for can be invaluable. Please enjoy this important topic and share this podcast with anyone you think can benefit. Thank you, Dr. Paul Kilgore, MD, MPH.
