[38:54] AI is everywhere — from the tools we use to write emails to the algorithms shaping our news feeds. When it comes to personal health, however, the conversation often swings between two extremes: blind trust or outright fear. In this episode of Toastcaster, I speak with Dr. Earl Campazzi, Jr., a medical practitioner with more than 35 years of clinical experience and the author of the new book: Better Health with AI: Your Roadmap to Results. Dr. Campazzi works at the intersection of medicine and modern technology, helping people better understand how AI, wearables, and digital tools can support health decisions — without replacing doctors or requiring technical expertise. Rather than focusing on hype, this conversation looks at what AI is already doing well in healthcare, where its limits are, and how it can be used thoughtfully as part of everyday life. In this episode, Dr. Campazzi shares insights on: - how AI is already being used in healthcare beyond chatbots, often quietly behind the scenes - what data from wearables can reveal — and what it can't — when viewed over time - real-world examples where everyday technology helped surface important health signals - why “flipping the script” leads to better questions and more productive conversations with doctors - practical ways non-tech-savvy people can begin using AI safely and effectively - why AI should support — not replace — professional medical judgment Dr. Campazzi explains that one of the biggest misunderstandings about AI in healthcare is treating it as a single tool. In reality, AI appears in many forms — from diagnostics and imaging to administrative support — often helping clinicians detect patterns earlier and spend more time with patients. For individuals, those same strengths can help organize and interpret data from tools like smartwatches and fitness trackers. The key, he notes, isn't collecting more data — it's understanding what the data means in context. A central idea from Better Health with AI is what Dr. Campazzi calls “flipping the script.” Instead of asking narrow or overly technical questions, he encourages starting with goals and context — then letting AI help surface the right questions to ask next. This approach doesn't just improve AI results; it also leads to better conversations with healthcare providers and more effective use of limited appointment time. Throughout the conversation, Dr. Campazzi emphasizes balance and common sense. He discusses privacy concerns in plain language, encourages healthy skepticism, and reinforces the idea that AI works best as a support tool — more like a research assistant than an authority. Used wisely, it can help organize information, surface patterns, and prompt better questions, while professional medical judgment remains central. For listeners who don't consider themselves tech-savvy, his advice is refreshingly straightforward: start small, focus on organizing what you already know, and bring those insights into conversations with your doctor. Sometimes the simplest steps — even keeping a printed list of medications and supplements — can make a meaningful difference. Dr. Campazzi's book, Better Health with AI: Your Roadmap to Results, is available in paperback, hardcover, eBook, and audiobook formats. You can find it on Amazon or at BetterHealthWithAI.com. Dr. Earl Campazzi is a medical practitioner with more than 35 years of clinical experience and the founder of Island Medical Care in Florida. He is the author of Better Health with AI: Your Roadmap to Results, which explores how artificial intelligence, wearables, and modern technology can support better health decisions while keeping human judgment and common-sense front and centre. The conversation isn't just about pain relief; it's about mastering mobility, building healthspan, and making sustainable changes for the long run. Here are our top 3 takeaways:Healthspan should MATCH lifespan: Don't just aim to live longer; aim to maximize the years you're strong, mobile, and active. Send us a textThis episode “Better Health” is a journey that I'm taking with a health coach and I want you to take you with me. His findings seem to be unusual but more in line with what I have felt all along with myself. Illness is not always black and white nor is it always medical. I believe stress, emotions, can cause malfunctioning in the body. So as I do this new adventure I want to share it with you and if I am satisfied I would like to share the information with you. I also disclosed in this episode a little bit about what I went through to make me feel this way. I look forward to finishing my sessions at which time I will pass on the information to you and I hope it helps you as well.Support the show

In this episode of The Better Life, Dr. Pinkston sits down with Dr. Marschall Runge, Dean of the University of Michigan Medical School and CEO of Michigan Medicine. Together, they explore the systemic challenges facing the American healthcare system and discuss the optimistic future outlined in Dr. Runge’s new book, The Great Healthcare Disruption. The conversation dives deep into the "corporatization" of medicine, where insurance companies and administrative costs often take precedence over the doctor-patient relationship. Dr. Runge highlights a startling statistic: while the U.S. spends the most on healthcare globally, it ranks roughly 60th in "healthy average life expectancy." They discuss potential solutions, including shifting focus toward prevention, learning from international models like Singapore and Denmark, and restoring the fundamental trust between physicians and their patients. Key Topics Covered: The Efficiency Gap: Comparing the 16% administrative costs of private insurance to the 2% cost of Medicare. The Preventive Approach: How lifestyle factors, nutrition, and social policy impact long-term health outcomes. AI in Healthcare: The double-edged sword of AI being used by insurance companies to drive high denial rates. The Primary Care Shortage: Why the U.S. has fewer primary care doctors per capita than almost any other developed nation and how "medical homes" can bridge the gap. Restoring Trust: Moving away from "Reddit-based" medical advice and back to evidence-based care provided by trusted professionals. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

What if the future of healthcare isn't about taking more medications—but about understanding why your body is out of balance in the first place? That's the eye-opening conversation at the heart of this episode of Late Night Health, featuring Dr. Nayan Patel, a clinical pharmacist, educator, and founder of Central Drugs Compounding Pharmacy.Dr. Patel isn't your typical pharmacist. With decades of experience working directly with physicians across the country, he specializes in customized, patient-specific care—from compounded medications to nutrition, supplementation, lifestyle changes, and advanced wellness modalities. In this candid and wide-ranging interview, he explains why “one-size-fits-all” medicine often falls short and how truly personalized treatment plans can help patients take control of their health.Listeners will learn what a compounding pharmacy really does—and why it plays a critical role when commercially available drugs don't meet a patient's unique needs. Dr. Patel also dives into the complex and often controversial world of supplements, prescription medications, and the overuse of both in modern healthcare. He doesn't shy away from discussing Big Pharma, pricing frustrations, and why many older, effective medications quietly disappear from the marketplace. One of the most compelling parts of the interview centers on hormone replacement therapy (HRT). Dr. Patel breaks down recent FDA changes, explains why hormones themselves aren't the enemy, and reveals why balance—not dosage—is the key to safety and effectiveness. He also introduces a powerful insight many patients overlook: stress management and cortisol regulation often matter far more than sex hormones alone.Perhaps most inspiring is Dr. Patel's philosophy that patients should become the CEO of their own health. Instead of simply managing symptoms for life, he challenges both doctors and patients to address root causes—sometimes with fewer prescriptions and smarter lifestyle choices. This is a must-listen episode for anyone navigating chronic health issues, questioning conventional approaches, or seeking a smarter, more individualized path to wellness. Don't miss the full interview—it may change how you think about healthcare forever. Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/late-night-health-radio--2804369/support.

Stevi got into Primal, then keto, then carnivore after seeing family members suffer, and dealing with her own weight issues. Carnivore got her through 2 pregnancies, got her BMI to normal levels, gave her back her brain power, and has allowed her to get through food addictions and help others to do the same. Stevi works with those that have autoimmune issues, on the AIP diet, with carnivore leaning and help them to figure out which foods trigger those issues.
