Rachel has deemed this the "wackiest" episode ever, and she's not wrong. We hop around from topic to topic, with no particular order connecting them. We waste no time and get right into our "new shit," with Sam acknowledging he made a mistake by forgetting to mention Lady Gaga's upcoming album! The song of the week had us scratching our heads. What exactly is the spirit of I Think He Knows? We land on it having to do with confidence, whether that's confidence by Taylor or confidence by the subject of the song. Either way, we have a blast as always and we hope you, Swiggies, might be able to enlighten us. We just know there's a deeper meaning to this song than what appears on the surface. Check out our "new shit" playlist here: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5LOn9LRJ8lnvnCbpl6fKVG?si=a3fa52ab368c49dfAnd don't forget to leave us a review on Apple podcasts for a special shoutout in next week's episode!
Well, the Eras Tour is over and Taylor has left us nearly speechless. In part because we are forever in awe over how special the Eras Tour was, in other part because we are deeply shocked and surprised that Vancouver was the most regular weekend ever. Sam isn't mad that Taylor didn't announce anything, he's just upset that she knowingly led us to believe we should clown for something. Either way, we spend a good portion of this episode discussing our thoughts on what it means now that the Eras Tour has ended. Then, we dive into our Spotify Wrapped, even though nobody asked for it. Sam takes a moment to thank all of you Swiggies who have been tuning in and helping us grow this podcast over the past year....THANK YOU! The New Shit segment brings Rachel back to her nonsensical Christmas vibes, and Sam gives a classic Taylor Swift song a spin. Then the laughs begin as we delve into a song originally written and released in 2007. The lyrics are funny, confusing, and joy-filled. Although we make slight fun of Taylor, it's all from love. Cheers to the birthday boy and cheers to the birthday girl! Check out our New Shit playlist here: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5LOn9LRJ8lnvnCbpl6fKVG?si=b57325556f9445ab
Hey Swiggies, what if we told you we're back?!!! After our three week break, we couldn't think of a better song to continue our summer of Taylor, cocktails, and podcasting. The song “seven” is one that invoked lots of discussion, but not before we dove into ALL the Taylor Tea we've been wanting to catch up on over the past few weeks. We share our thoughts on Vienna, London, and Taylor's questionable fashion sense. Then we dive into the new music we've been listening to as of late. Pop boy fall is around the corner, y'all! Once we delve into the summery cocktails this song inspired us to make, we break down the iconic folklore track one musical beat and lyric at a time. With connections to the book Secret Garden, this song tells a story truly inspiring to Taylor. But why did she write this song when she did? Tune in to find out all our thoughts! Hey….please leave us a review on Apple Podcasts if you could. Love you, Swiggies!
This week's song choice was recommended to us by a loyal listener...thanks Courtney! And what a great song choice it is. The episode begins with us attempting to summarize our entire 10-minute conversation that never got recorded. There's talk of Rep TV and Debut TV and our theories on when that will happen. We discuss incredible siblings during our new shit segment. And lastly, we get into the emotional depth of Nothing New, the significance behind Taylor being 22 when she wrote it, and why she opted to have a featured artist on this song. Swiggies: will you still want us when we're nothing new? --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/swift-and-swigs-with-sibs/message
This episode starts with Sam sharing some VERY EXCITING NEWS!!!! Let's just say there might be some Scotch whiskey making an appearance in some future cocktails... The song Fortnight is a heavy hitter and probably the most in depth the sibs have ever gone when discussing the spirit of a song. The opening track on Taylor's new album tells quite an interesting story that isn't all that clear. The music video is discussed in length and is absolutely recommended to further understand the message of this song. We end the episode with a recommendation for next week's song. Keep the recommendations coming, Swiggies! --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/swift-and-swigs-with-sibs/message
Happy Tortured Poets release day Swiggies! We know our podcast won't be the first thing you listen to today, but come back to us and hear our analysis of Dear Reader when you're ready. We think you'll be pleasantly surprised with how we believe Taylor wrote the song to be an intentional gateway to TTPD. Welcome to the new era, everyone! --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/swift-and-swigs-with-sibs/message
