Episode 113 - Taylor Swift and the Divine Feminine with Meredith Beardmore I'm so excited to bring you today's episode! I will be geeking out about Taylor Swift and the Divine Feminine with therapist – and Swiftie- Meredith Beardmore. Meredith Beardmore is a psychotherapist operating a private practice, the author of Hey Addiction, Thanks for NOTHING!: A Brutally Honest Guide to Loving an Addict Without Losing Your Mind, and is also known as “Mend with Mere” from her successful YouTube Channel. Meredith is an Ohio State University graduate with a master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Meredith specializes in substance abuse treatment, helping family members of addicts and treating emerging adults with various issues, from identity development to depression. Her YouTube Channel, “Mend with Mere,” initially intended for therapy discussions, became a platform for analyzing song lyrics, primarily Taylor Swift's, garnering thousands of subscribers and over 5 million hours of watch time. I am so happy to have found MEND WITH MERE, and her channel where she often thoughtfully discusses, dissects and reacts to songs. I stumbled upon her page in the research that goes along w dissecting lyrics! The recent Taylor Swift album – the Tortured Poets Department- is rich with amazing and meaningful songs that really sent me down rabbit holes. I've recently become a Swiftie, and I'm not embarrassed to admit it! The more I've learned about Taylor Swift and her work, the more I've grown to love her! When she started the Eras tour last year I noticed all the girl mom friends of mine who went to see the show with their daughters were just as crazy to see her as their daughters were… this intrigued me and I ended up watching the Netflix Special on her called “MISS AMERICANA”. From there I really grew to really respect her as an artist and person. It's clear she's a smart, self-aware and sensitive. I only began delving into her catalogue since February of this year after watching her video for “You Need To Calm Down”. Seeing how she advocates for the LGBTQ really warmed my heart- I cried when I first saw it even tho it's not necessarily a tear jerker! As a mom to a transgirl it made me even happier to see someone with this platform saying F U to the naysayers. I then started listening to her on Spotify, just letting it play… I heard the song “I Did Something Bad” where she mentions how narcissists love her (common for empaths) and then she sang “They're burning all the witches even if you aren't one…. So light me up” and I got CHILLS so bad!! I could feel the power she was channeling and was floored! I later learned about the song Willow and her video for that where it looks like a coven of women dancing around the moon—fun fact, this tree is associated with Hecate—Queen of the Witches, goddess of the underworld connected to magic and divination. Witch isn't a bad word- a witch is a woman in her power who can transmute energy and Taylor Swift does just that. From the snakes being thrown her way w the bs drama she had with Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, where she turned it around for fuel for her Reputation album, to changing the script on London and her relationship to that city (We recorded this just prior to those shows… Travis Kelce is clearly the Divine Masculine and his performance with Taylor on stage was so symbolic and amazing. If you don't know what I'm talking about, clearly you are NOT a Swiftie, lol. Google it! Night 3 London, June 22). They both really embody the divine feminine and masculine so strongly. Nothing prepared me tho for when she premiered her performance of “Who's Afraid of Little Old Me” from her new album in Paris back in May. This was an empowered woman, not hiding her rage and playfully playing on people's fears/accusations of her being a witch. I ate that shit up!! Every single time I listen to or watch that song I get chills and my eyes fill with tears. She channels such power and light. Meredith and I speak about sacred rage, how it's necessary to feel in order to heal, we speak on intuition and how it grows after the arrival of our children. We speak about our kids on the spectrum and their heightened sensitivities, and we also touch on the oh so common narcissist and empath connection. I loved my conversation with Meredith, we meandered a bit and I love all the different directions we went in. I hope you enjoy it too!! It's a double music news day today, as we've got a huge Harry Styles tour update, as well as some news on a Taylor Swift impersonator getting bullied on TikTok! It is not a good day for Harry Styles Fans in Canada as Harry has removed Canada from his forthcoming Love On Tour. "I can't wait to see you again, but for obvious reasons it is just not possible at this time," Styles said in an Instagram post on Wednesday afternoon. "I will be sharing more news soon about shows across the globe, and new music. "I love you all so much. I'm very excited, and I can't wait to see you." Concerns about the status of the tour started early Wednesday when Ticketmaster notified ticket holders for Styles' late August concerts in Inglewood, California that the shows have been pushed to November. The tour – which was bumped from 2020 due to the pandemic – included a show scheduled for Aug. 16 at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, where concert attendance is currently limited to 50 per cent capacity. Styles was also scheduled to perform Sept. 28 and 29 in Toronto (where concert venues are currently not allowed to welcome any fans) and Oct. 20 in Montreal (where there are currently capacity limits). Styles announced the tour in November 2019, with stops in Montreal on June 30, 2020, Toronto on July 3 and 4, 2020 and Vancouver on Aug. 23, 2020. Only weeks before the Montreal show, Styles shared the news that the tour was being pushed to 2021. https://www.iheartradio.ca/news/harry-styles-tour-dates-postponed-1.15620040 A professional Taylor Swift lookalike got a lesson in how toxic social media can be after inadvertently fooling Swift fans with a video that blew up on TikTok. Ashley, a Nashville trauma nurse (aka @traumarn13), went viral after posting a clip in which she shared how she's doing laundry without a washer and dryer. Backed by “Kiss Me More” by Doja Cat ft. SZA, Ashley turned the camera to show a bathtub and a bottle of Tide. “I do not recommend doing 3 loads in one day,” she captioned the post. “Rinse repeat. I am done.” To date, it's been seen more than 2.7 million times. Embarrassed that they thought it was Swift in the video, some fans reported Ashley's account – prompting her to initially, well, shake it off. “Thank you to those who have nothing better to do with their lives,” she captioned a follow-up post that read: “When you have fun creating content for your followers & then someone reports your account for no reason and now you are blocked from updating your account.” On Tuesday, the Swift doppelgänger took more direct aim at the bullies. "Insecure people only eclipse your sun because they're jealous of your daylight and tired of their dark, starless nights,” she captioned a video backed by Swift's “You Need To Calm Down.” Ashley added: “Be the reason someone WAKES up in the morning, not the reason they DIDN'T wake up.” Earlier, Ashley is seen laughing in a clip that reads: “When millions of people think Taylor Swift does her laundry in her bathtub & don't even think to read the screen name. BTW my name is on my page.” When she isn't working at a hospital, Ashley takes gigs as a Swift lookalike. "More than just a double, Ashley is a true artist and a talented, believable performer," reads a description on the Mirror Images website. https://www.iheartradio.ca/news/taylor-swift-lookalike-responds-to-bullying-1.15619870 Thanks to John R. I was a little surprised that it's been 6 years since I made the first Essential Taylor Swift back in 2015. She has released so many great songs since then with some superb remixes to go along with them. With this second edition of Taylor Swift I wanted to use completely different tracks than I did on volume 1. The only repeat track here is "Blank Space" because the Luis Vazquez remix is awesome. I do want to give special thanks to Mark from Dirty Disco as well as Russ Rich & Andy Allder who very generously provided me with some advance remixes they had completed before they were released. They feature quite heavily in this set because they are all brilliant. As always, my good friend Rob (aka Division 4) also provided me with his exclusive mix of "You Are In Love" which opens the set. Other stand out remixes come from Guy Scheiman, Sagi Kariv, Leo Frappier and Joel Dickinson. I do like the way Taylor's music keeps evolving as she matures and this 2nd edition of Essential Taylor Swift shows that evolution. Enjoy Anthony 1/ "YOU ARE IN LOVE" (Division 4 Remix) 2/ "CARDIGAN" (Russ Rich & Andy Allder Club Mix) 3/ "EVERMORE" (Russ Rich & Andy Allder Evermore Dancefloor Club Mix) 4/ "YOU NEED TO CALM DOWN" (Dirty Disco Mainroom Remix) 5/ "THE ARCHER" (Russ Rich & Andy Allder Combat Club Remix) 6/ "DON'T BLAME ME" (Russ Rich & Leo Frappier Bangin' Afterhours Club Mix) 7/ "WONDERLAND" (Sagi Kariv Remix) 8/ "THE MAN" (Guy Scheiman Remix) 9/ "BLANK SPACE" (Luis Vazquez Unreleased Club Mix) 10/ "ME!" (Dirty Disco Eagle Houston Remix) ft. Brendon Urie 11/ "LOVE STORY" (Dirty Disco Mainroom Remix) 12/ "THIS IS ME TRYING" (Russ Rich & Andy Allder Shiniest Wheels Club Mix) 13/ "YOU BELONG WITH ME" (Thee Werq'n B!tches Club Mix)

Quarantine life could be a challenge. This epidemic has brought so many responses and anxieties but one thing that we can take from it is: humanness, be more conscious about what we are doing with our time and what we are saying. I used a clip from an interview to Jay Shetty (Life Coach - Content Creator) to realized how important is the way we said things to ourself and how we can communicate better. "Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans" - John Lennon While we are living physically distanced, our connections are so important. For this week episode I'm talking with Dexter Mayfield. He's a dancer, activist, model, and all-around role model. He's also plus-size, which makes the fact that he's making it as a dancer and model even more phenomenal and his positivity is just contagious during this time through his choreographies or tik tok challenges. We talked about his experience with Taylor Swift and the music video for "You Need To Calm Down" and his favorite thing to do. On today’s episode of Table Talk Radio we discuss oppression, persecution, shame and more. Then we play Preaching To Hollywood as we dive into the Taylor Swift song You Need To Calm Down
Last night Taylor Swift posted a personal and very details note to fans and the world about the struggle her team has been having with her former record label. Moments later the #IStandWithTaylor movement began trending. This morning we broke down what we know as of Friday AM and the stars who are already coming to her defense. Swift wants to use her previously recorded music which she does not own at an American Music Awards performance when she's honored as "Artist of the Decade." Additionally an upcoming Netflix documentary is in Jeopardy. The You Need To Calm Down singer shared the inner workings of negotiations that will impact her musical past, Big Machine Record's financial future, several other high profile artists and the network broadcasting the AMAs. Spoiler Alert: Tommy and Kelly are not lawyers but talked about what the public knows so far in this situation.

Traders are cautiously optimistic again about the potential for progress in the costly trade war between the U.S. and China. Japan's benchmark Nikkei rose 1.2 percent, Hong Kong's Hang Seng rose at first but reversed course and was down nearly 0.2 percent and China's Shanghai Composite was up 1.1 percent. U.S. equity futures were searching for direction Tuesday morning.Monday's rally on Wall Street got its start early after President Trump said his negotiators had received encouraging calls from China on Sunday, though China's foreign ministry denied knowledge of any such calls. At the end of the G-7 summit, the president stood firm and defended his handling of the trade war with China and said his approach was seeing results.Struggling 2020 Democrats fume at DNC over debate criteria crackdownWith the deadline to qualify for next month’s third round of Democratic presidential debates closing in, the Democratic National Committee is facing an angry chorus of criticism from the candidates not likely to make the cut. At issue is the DNC’s criteria for the contenders to take part in the prime-time showdown, including contributions from 130,000 individual donors and reaching at least 2 percent in four qualifying polls. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii, Montana Gov. Steve Bullock, Sen. Michael Bennet of Colorado were among the candidates complaining about the DNC's process. While the criticism is not new, this time around the national party committee is specifically being attacked over the dearth of qualifying polls. Critics say this is unfairly preventing candidates close to qualifying from actually making the stage. Bullock, who also needs a miracle to qualify by the end-of-Wednesday deadline, argued that “these DNC debate rules have turned this primary into the ‘The Hunger Games’ — each step of this seems to be all about getting donors.”Epstein accusers expected to speak at hearingUp to 30 of Jeffrey Epstein's alleged victims could take a judge up on his invitation to speak at a hearing Tuesday. U.S. District Judge Richard Berman, who presided over the sex trafficking case prosecutors brought against Epstein, scheduled the hearing after prosecutors asked that he toss charges against Epstein because of his death. Epstein, a previously convicted sex offender, died Aug. 10, his death ruled a suicide as he apparently killed himself rather than face sex trafficking charges. Berman said he would give prosecutors, Epstein's lawyers and any alleged victims a chance to speak.Since the hearing was scheduled, it was revealed that Epstein signed a will just two days before his suicide putting over $577 million in assets into a trust fund. The will, filed in the Virgin Islands where Epstein maintained a residence, was expected to make it more difficult for dozens of accusers to collect damages. Tuesday's hearing comes amid a report that video footage from at least one camera in the hallway outside Epstein's jail cell is too flawed to be of any value for investigators.Johnson & Johnson ordered to pay $572M in opioid case, setting up more trials and possible legal settlementsAn Oklahoma judge found Johnson & Johnson and Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies liable for stoking the opioid crisis in the state and said the company must pay $572 million, far less the $17 billion that the state was seeking. Judge Thad Balkman, of Cleveland County District Court in Norman, Oklahoma, is the first judge to rule in the opioid cases brought to trial by thousands of state and local governments against opioid manufacturers and distributors. His precedent-setting ruling was being closely watched as 2,000 other pending suits await to be heard before a federal judge in Ohio in October. J&J said it plans to appeal Balkman's ruling and that the decision was "flawed."Miley Cyrus stuns at MTV VMAs with emotional first performance since Hemsworth splitMiley Cyrus made a huge statement during an emotional performance at the 2019 MTV Video Music Awards. Mica basks in the afterglow of the Aly & AJ concert (which was amazing and a childhood fantasy come true) and launches into a discussion of allyship, activism, and our girl Taylor Swift, whose new music video, "You Need To Calm Down," has a lot of people wondering whether her allyship is authentic or a rainbow-coloured marketing strategy. Sure, Taylor's song is loudly anti-homophobic, which is great, but does she need to centre herself in the gay-rights narrative? Probably not.
