In 1795 the Admiralty established the Royal Navy's Hydrography office, which became the world leader in charting the waters of the globe, as ships of the line sailed the oceans, pursuing their traditional enemy, the French. Treacherous waters were navigated with a skill that is quite breathtaking, and laid the groundwork, along with Trafalgar, for a century of domination of the waves. Joining today is historian and Royal Navy veteran Michael Barritt, author of Nelson's Pathfinders, himself a hydrographer, as he explains the growth of the discipline, and how it was used to help the great admirals of the navy including Collingwood and Nelson. Daniel Bwala once called him President-select.Today, he is the official spokesperson to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. How does that happen? He told me plainly: “The number one rule of opposition is to oppose."And so, when he was with Atiku, that's exactly what he did.But he never called Tinubu a drug lord or a drug pusher. “Never,” he said. Now, he says, “Atiku would have made a great president if he had won. But would he have been better than Asiwaju? I doubt it.”He also talked about Peter Obi as a patriotic citizen but who may also be seen as an opportunist politician. We also talked about how the president feel about the complains of every day Nigerian over the state of the economy.Sharp. Audacious. Unapologetic. This is Daniel Bwala, like you've never seen him before. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Bloomberg reports that two of Wall Street's biggest firms have doubled-down on their intention to help raise at least $7 billion dollars for a Chinese military company helping the People's Liberation Army prepare to kill Americans. Jamie Dimon's JP Morgan and Brian Moynihan's Bank of America exemplify the indifference of too many in the U.S. financial sector about national security. Evidently, they're determined to help enable electric battery-manufacturer CATL's making Chinese conventional submarines a more lethal threat to our naval forces and personnel. House CCP Select Committee Chairman John Moolenaar has warned the companies to drop the CATL deal and SEC Chairman Paul Atkins to stop such corporate enabling of our enemy in violation of President Trump's “America First Investment Policy.” These material risks are not being properly disclosed to investors, greatly compounding the treacherous malfeasance of JPMorgan and Bank of America. This is Frank Gaffney.

We try to figure out what the fuck is happening in the US as we chat about the low rent car commercial at the White House, the human shields of cops protecting Tesla dealerships, how Musk has become (by his own actions) a scapegoat for the public's hatred, and the ongoing disintegration of social bonds and moral solidarity under a fascist regime. Plus a new data analysis system called ShadowDragon that is supercharging the surveillance capabilities of ICE, DEA, DoS, and more. We endeavor to analyze the abyss, organize against the abyss, but not get caught staring into the abyss. ••• Stalled Audits and a Skeleton Staff: Inside Trump's War on the I.R.S. https://www.nytimes.com/2025/03/10/us/politics/irs-taxes-trump-musk-federal-workers.html ••• The Abduction of Mahmoud Khalil https://www.unpopularfront.news/p/the-abduction-of-mahmoud-khalil ••• Yale Suspends Scholar After A.I.-Powered News Site Accuses Her of Terrorist Link https://www.nytimes.com/2025/03/12/us/yale-suspends-scholar-terrorism.html ••• The 200+ Sites an ICE Surveillance Contractor is Monitoring https://www.404media.co/the-200-sites-an-ice-surveillance-contractor-is-monitoring/ Standing Plugs: ••• Order Jathan's new book: https://www.ucpress.edu/book/9780520398078/the-mechanic-and-the-luddite ••• Subscribe to Ed's substack: https://substack.com/@thetechbubble ••• Subscribe to TMK on patreon for premium episodes: https://www.patreon.com/thismachinekills Hosted by Jathan Sadowski (bsky.app/profile/jathansadowski.com) and Edward Ongweso Jr. (www.x.com/bigblackjacobin). TrekRanks - Member of The Tricorder Transmissions : a Star Trek Podcast Network
We are getting dark and dirty on this week's TrekRanks as we maneuver down some of Starfleet's back alleys to uncover the “Top 5 Treacherous Bastards” in the history of Star Trek. Our expert panel is packed with unsavory characters, including host Jim Moorhouse and guests Ryan Riddle and Michael Bentley, as they get into the underbelly of the influences that have motivated so many of our picks. This is a fun episode that also goes deep … into treachery! Episode Rundown: Diagnostic Cycle: We give a quick definition of “treacherous” and how that might compare to “traitorous.” (Note: they are basically the same thing.) Prime Directive: Each guest on this week's LCARS panel reveals exactly how they narrowed down their list and made their final choices. The Order of Things: All the picks are revealed with the TrekRanks' original “Five words and a hashtag” summary, along with one episode that helps frame their choice. Secondary Systems: For a few extra picks that just missed our final list. Regeneration Cycle: The panel recaps their picks and we dissect some of the interesting statistical anomalies that arose from the discussion. Temporal Inversion: We flashback to a previous episode of TrekRanks and relay some of the feedback received from listeners. If you have your own picks you would like to relay to us, please hail us at 757-828-RANK (7265) and record your own personal TrekRanks log to let us know your Top 5 Treacherous Bastards. (Or you can record it yourself and just DM us @TrekRanks.bksy.social on Bluesky.) Your comments could be used as part of a Temporal Causality Loop on an upcoming episode (and might get you a chance to be a guest on a future episode, too). And don't forget to check out TrekRanks.com for our entire back catalog of episodes and a detailed rundown on every episode of Star Trek ever.

With one final treacherous policy decision, President Joe Biden sweeps almost every federal prisoner on death row into a free-room-and-board program for the rest of their lives. This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute. Two days after Donald Trump's landslide 2024 electoral victory, outgoing President Joe Biden announced, “I direct my entire administration to work with his team to ensure a peaceful and orderly transition.” This appeared to track with Biden's oft- asserted commitment to “democracy.” Unfortunately, what has happened since suggests that the Biden team has actually been using this lengthy transition period to lock in agendas, policies and priorities it has pursued over the past four years – but that were rejected by a majority of voters in this fall's elections. We are hosting a very timely webinar at 1:00 p.m. Eastern Time today entitled, “Treacherous Transition.” It will examine how what amount to serial efforts by the outgoing administration and its allies to subvert the incoming one are advancing the interests of, among others, the Chinese Communist Party. Join us at PresentDangerChina.org. This is Frank Gaffney.
