Oops we stitched up Gracie Abrams and told her to say "kick it in the dick". The weirdest things for sale on Marketplace. We NEED to solve this mystery. Do you have these rare genetic traits? See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
This is the origin story of Gracie Abrams going on stage and telling everyone to "kick it in the dick". It wasn't meant as a prank, but she did then say it a few times in her show in front of thousands of kiwi fans...See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

We’re back, betches—and this time, live from Auckland for Nova’s Red Room Global Tour! In today’s ep, we chat to the stunning and effortlessly chill Gracie Abrams ahead of her Spark Arena gig (barefoot, of course). Joel admits he may have “over-strummed” during the chat, Tim tries to convince us she complimented his outfit, and Ricki’s in full Beyoncé meltdown mode after Cowboy Carter kicked off in LA. Plus, the team recount Joel’s chaotic airport behaviour (lost engagement ring, new AirPods, possible nap-induced blackout), we run through which celebrity kids we low-key find annoying (controversial!), and find out why Gracie’s post-show wind-down involves LEGO and zero socialising.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
We're backstage in Auckland with the one and only Gracie Abrams just hours before she hits the stage—and let us tell you, she's cool as a cucumber (for now). We chat about everything from journaling her way into songwriting to acoustic chaos at Fire Aid, and why Maine (yes, the lobster place) is her ultimate happy place. Plus, Gracie drops her hot post-show routine (hint: adult LEGO), dishes on her lyric-writing style, and lets us do some dramatic reciting of her lyrics—because obviously. She's funny, grounded, and ready to take on Australia… if we don’t steal her spotlight first.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Taylor Swift isn't just a world-conquering pop star at the top of her game, her approach to songwriting has also proven massively influential for an up-and-coming generation of singer-songwriters. Gracie Abrams, Maisie Peters, and Phoebe Bridgers—all of whom opened for Swift during her Eras Tour—each owe a debt to Swift's hyperspecific lyrics, minimal melodies, and bombastic bridges. We break down the key aspects of Swift's songcraft and how we can hear them manifest in the work of her young acolytes, and we speak to another burgeoning artist, the brilliant Jensen McRae, to learn firsthand why Swift's style has been so resonant. Want to request a song? Tell us your rating? Send us a Text Message right now! Imagine you're standing in a hallway that exists outside of time, where every door leads to a different parallel universe of past relationships—but only the ones where the emotional debris still lingers like a half-written text. You're both the observer and the participant, reliving a moment that simultaneously happened, is happening, and never happened at all.The song is a mirror disguised as a memory, but it's also a conversation you never actually had—except in your own head, where it loops indefinitely like a scratched vinyl. Every lyric is a paradox: you were right, but you were also wrong; you're over it, but also drowning in it; you've moved on, but you can't stop looking back. It's nostalgia weaponized. It's the feeling of scrolling through old messages but through a telescope, not a phone screen, distorting the words until they sound like a prophecy you ignored. The chorus is a confession, but instead of being spoken, it's written in invisible ink on the inside of your eyelids, only visible when you close your eyes.By the end, you realize: the song didn't end. It just folded itself into another version of you who's still thinking about it.In short: Gracie Abrams wrote a song that functions like a time-traveling emotional glitch, and somehow, it just makes sense.DUBBY DUBBY is declaring WAR on big Energy! In episode 111 astrologers Kristina Martin and Tara Redfield take on the semi-public relationship of singer/songwriter of the moment, Gracie Abrams and Gladiator star, Paul Mescal. The two have been keeping their relationship on the downlow since last year, but let's see if it has potential to go all the way! First, we read Gracie's chart and find a bright, intellectual mind and persona with a Sun/Mercury conjunction in modest Virgo...but we also discovered a big splash of drama and romanticism with a Venus/Moon conjunction in bold Leo! Adding some challenges to the Leo placements is a heavy Saturn square, denoting deep feelings of guilt and obligation (perhaps coming from her own father's success?) Next, we move to Paul's chart and see an unconventional person who believes in humanity and the fight for social justice thanks to his Sun and Mars in rebellious Aquarius. We also see a highly sensitive Cancer Moon and Saturn/Venus conjunction in Pisces which tells us he works hard to find a middle ground in all things. Their synastry reveals multiple, jaw dropping aspects! Not only the powerful Sun/Moon aspect going both ways, but also trine Mercuries (making communication a breeze), trine Jupiters (helping each other to grow and expand themselves) AND the coveted Venus/Mars opposition (strong attraction and romantic chemistry). There were a few challenging aspects, but not many! We also found a stunning aspect that speaks of a past life connection. Is it too good to be true? You don't want to miss this episode! I thought it would be fun to do a year-in-review of the music of 2024 with my friend James McCrae. Neither of us are music experts, but we're constantly sharing music with each other. James first came on the show in 2020, when we did a similar review of the music from that wild quarantine year when artists weren't touring and we all missed live shows. Fast forward to 2024, and we chat about what we've noticed over the last five years, including the changes in the music industry, trends we've seen, and of course, what we've had on repeat.James, a Bob Dylan super-fan, talks about his evolving tastes, new genres, and how pop and hyperpop have influenced his music choices. He also shares his insights on the current music scene and the role of streaming, social media, and live performances.James is an author, poet, artist, and founder of Sunflower Club, a global community dedicated to conscious creativity.
