A chance find at age 14 at Flinders Street Station led Tim Chappel to a life of silver lamé, sequins, girdles, and an Oscar. Costume designer, Tim Chappel can't remember all the places he lived, growing up on Army bases around the country, and overseas. His one constant interest was nature. He'd look for stick insects to pin into his collection and draw endless terrestrial orchids. After five nights of unrest across France, there's been an appeal for calm from the grandmother of the boy whose killing by police ignited a series of riots across the country. 'Spare us the unaesthetic spectacle of women trying to look and act like men' - IOC member, 1950For too long sportswomen have faced the almost impossible task of competing as athletes whilst also maintaining what society deems as typically ‘feminine' appearance in order to appeal to broadcasters, promoters and sponsors.And so we see women still playing elite sport in dresses, hiding their muscular bodies and being asked about their outfits rather than their performances in post match interviews, while sports brands chose models over athletes to promote their products and sports federations put women and girls in skimpy outfits in order to increase their sex appeal. Today's guest, Grace Atwood is the founder + voice behind The Stripe. Grace is currently based in Charleston, South Carolina after 15 years in Manhattan and Brooklyn.
