For over 10 years, Shandra has been deeply passionate about social justice, particularly the fostering of self-love, confidence, and leadership in young women. This resulted in her path towards initially becoming a middle school teacher in Oakland in an attempt to address these issues. On top of teaching, She ran after-school social justice programs, co-led student council, planned and facilitated multiple weeks of gender studies for 8th-graders, led restorative justice circles for 8th-grade girls and coached volleyball. As she started to burn out as a teacher, she realized that her true passion lied in the fostering of self-acceptance, leadership, and self-esteem in young women. This led to the realization that she wanted her job to 100% be devoted to fostering healing for teen girls through education and coaching. Most teens and families work with Shandra because therapy or other support systems aren't working or don't feel right. She has been trained in therapy modalities such as somatic experiencing, non-violent communication, mindfulness practices and the completion of a 200 hour Transformational Leadership training through an organization called COR, that enhanced and refined her coaching, counseling, and facilitation skills.
