Last year there was a brief moment where every tastemaker, pundit and rap fan listed their top 50. A round by round rundown of the recent clash between these two production titans. I talked a little, played the songs that I feel won, made a few substitute choices and nerded out the way I usually do. Stay tuned for more content Hit me at $fromoldharlem on Cash App if you enjoy this
By far the most important musician of my lifetime. Q-Tip taught me about sensitivity, intelligence, humility, love while maintaining an edge to his production. I’ve learned more from his visions than anyone I’ve never met, he's also number 12 on my 50 all time greatest emcees list (more about that later). So I put together 50 songs he's produced or appeared on over the course of two hours. Pardon any sudden/imperfect transitions or the low volume on any songs. Im not a DJ, this was a cut and paste labor of love that took many hours. I didn't go too underground but don't expect super popular songs like Award Tour, Electric Relaxation, Find A Way, Got Til It’s Gone, Breathe & Stop or Vivrant Thing. If you're so inclined to support, my Cash App is $fromoldharlem

Jay-Z turned 49 today. I rambled a lot, ranked his catalog, gave personal recollections and played a lot of his music. Pass this along to any Hov aficionado.

Continuing where last episode left off, I sprint out the gate being obnoxious Going off on someone who blocked me for no good reason Also going off on someone who questioned my street cred online Exposing ignorance in my DMs and Tim not respecting how I move at times How Joe Budden inspires me Not liking people for no reason who rub me wrong Do I talk about being modest too much? Worrying too much about what people think of me Where do I rank amongst active black music journalists? Struggling to get paid as a freelancer Do people respect marriage?
- My digestive system's issues - Recent professional accomplishments - Increased listenership from the #RealBeaters episode - Taking the plunge and paying for a woman’s premium subscription - My trip to New Orleans for Essence Fest this past summer - Pissing off FutureHive for saying he wasn’t a legend x rapper Father and Twitter personality big_business joining the - Comparing his legacy to people like Gucci Mane and Ludcaris - Which musicians have the most rabid fan bases - Being annoyed by Zack Fox - Mistakenly causing Charles Hamilton to get dropped from Interscope

Another episode. Great music and great energy
I play the first hour of music on this show.
After seeing a pimp and two of his woman clients live in the flesh we discussed: - Landing my first piece with Spin Magazine (and whether success could make me insufferable) - King Bach's Netflix career - Tasha & Dro from Insecure having a child in real life - Donald Glover's superiority complex, Atlanta Season 2 and "This Is America" - The media derailing Arrested Development Season 5 - Morgan Freeman & Aziz Ansari's allegations from women - Pusha T's album release and cover, the start of his recent beef with Drake and Drake's history with beef - Calling albums classic as soon as they drop - Fake caring in the midst of networking
The first hour of music is by me
Guests Iman Europe and Iman Omari (my brief mix of his music is tacked on at the end)
Back for the first time in a long time. I hope to get back in the habit of doing these
Stopped through Ill Camille's new show at Dublab (a station where I've always wanted to play music) and played music around the 52 minute mark. Good chance I'll be a part of future episodes.
Me being accused of watching porn turned into a full blown conversation where I discovered in real time my boy was deep in the game after recording together for a year. We cut loose and talked like men, but I edited out some true filth P.S. This was recorded months before Teanna Trump and Brittany Renner hung out, we're a two man squad of visionaries
Note: this episode was recorded months before XXXTentacion's tragic murder. - Is Kanye into hentai? - The trend of men purchasing nudes - Are strip clubs dead? - ManyVids and camgirls - The Doppelgangaz' brand of perverted comedy - Brittany Renner - Perverted Reddits - The Teddy Perkins episode of Atlanta - Donald Glover's superiority complex and his Joshua Tree performance - Am I arrogant? - Cardi B's "Invasion Of Privacy" album and why she's rewarded - Rex Orange County - Game hopping on songs with everyone - The yodeling kid at Coachella (I accurately predicted he signed to Atlantic Records) - Matt Ox - A$AP Rocky - Flatbush Zombies - Young Thug's antics - Travis Scott stealing other people's styles
Inspired by Drake hopping on Fortnite, we got into an hour long debate on what makes a person or a hobby cool. Long story short I won this debate P.S. Of course Lil Dicky is brought up
Deray's blue vest and his place as a socialite, Brockhampton's clothing line, people faking their happiness on Instagram, Desus & Mero vs. DJ Envy, Lil Dicky's "Freaky Friday", how to tell when a woman is hollering, Twitter followers and self-importance, whether I come off arrogant, and side chick etiquette.
- what determines a personal classic vs. an actual classic album - Lupe Fiasco's "Food & Liquor" and "The Cool" - albums that have come out since "The Cool" that are better - my definition of the term nerd and ranking of popular modern day black nerds - shallowness in the dating world and of course Lil Dicky is discussed
Topics: - The Black Panther phenomenon (the movie, soundtrack, dressing up, backlash etc.) - Mo'Nique on The Breakfast Club - Chicago's Save Money Collective vs. Vic Spencer - Tekashi 69 and wirdo oneupmanship in Hip-Hop - Chief Keef's past few years - Jorja Smith - Jhene Aiko - what constitutes a date? - NBA All Star Weekend - Modern day black woman comedy (2 Dope Queens, Tiffany Haddish, Leslie Jones)
We had fun ranking 10 of the most heinous figures in black sports/entertainment. note: this was recorded before Cosby's verdict and Kelis' allegations against Nas
Sorry for the delay, thanks for the continued support. A while ago I retracted my thoughts on Insecure and we discussed The Grammys, fake butts, Mo'Nique vs. Netflix, Bruno Mars, Cardi B and groupie behavior plenty more to come. stay tuned.
Merc80 stopped by and we made Grammys predictions and also discussed Mo'Nique vs. Netflix, The Weeknd, Calvin Harris, music industry machinations, thirst trapping as a business model, the struggle of making it as an indie artist and why Facebook is trash
Along with the Mrs. we discuss everything from The Cosby Show to Atlanta, The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air, Martin, The Boondocks, A Different World, Blackish, The Bernie Mac Show, Jamie Foxx and why I dont like him, The Mayor, The Wayans Brothers, Girlfriends, Judy Winslow doing porn, Good Times, What's Happening, Chappelle's Show, Kofi Siriboe, Spike Lee and a have heated discussion about Insecure. Respect to Living Single and The Carmichael Show, somehow we forgot the cover them.
outtakes from Episode 13 that include airing Black Twitter people out, Diddy acting suspect, Mr. Robot, whether Brockhampton is independent, Chance The Rapper's change over time, Willow Smith being emo, why I dont think Jay-Z cheated and why he might sweep the Grammys this year, mainstream Hip-Hop being disposable, Tyler The Creator pretending to be gay, Kendrick Lamar's catalog and whether "Love" is a R&B song
We have pretty different tastes, but meet in the middle sometimes. Here are our top 5 albums of last year
TiRon & Ayomari discuss their earliest days making music, being around for LA's musical renaissance, personal and creative growth over time, Musiq Soulchild, Stevie Wonder, and their new album “WET: The Wonderful Ego Trip”
Timothy rates Joe Budden pretty high on the merits of his talent regardless of accomplishments in music. So I had to question just how good Lil Dicky is compared to today’s rap scene. He tried to rebuttal with a number of competitors and had to finally give up. We settled on one rapper being better going into 2018 (spoiler: it’s not Jay-Z or Kendrick) Note: This was recorded before Black Thought shook up the world with his Funkmaster Flex freestyle
