Welcome to the UnapologeticallyHer podcast where it's all about motivation, inspiration, and tips on becoming Unapologetically YOU.
Is your January off to a rough start? Did you set New Year's Resolutions or goals for the month, and then all the sudden it's February 1st, you're looking back and you're feeling some type of way about the progress you did, or didn't, make? Don't worry, we have all been there. What's in the past doesn't matter now, it's what you do next that matters! Join Kyla & Chelsey as they discuss a few strategies for moving forward when you don't hit the goals you set for yourself. Remember what we always say, it's not about the destination, it's about the journey you take to get wherever it is that you're going. Grow through what you go through! If you enjoyed this episode, we encourage you to share it on your social media, tag us in it and leave us a written review on Apple podcasts. We LOVE being able to engage with, get to know and learn from our listeners and we want to be sure we keep the relationship a two way street - so we look forward to hearing from more of you
On this week's episode, join the girls as Kyla and Chelsey discuss a topic that's harder than most to talk about. As you listen, you will hear stories of times that both of the girls have found themselves suffering from victim mentality and the effects it has had on their lives, both personally and professionally. They discuss victim mentality in the workplace, in social media and in personal lives and how problematic it can become if one doesn't get help for it directly. They go on to talk about personal development and how it saved them, but also how you have to be deliberate in making sure that the personal development you're doing is actually targeted towards specific problems you're dealing with in your life. "At the heart of the victim's wounded emotions is the feeling of powerlessness, feeling unable to make healthy choices in circumstances and relationships." The cry of a victim's heart is often, "Have mercy on me, Lord, for I am faint; heal me, Lord, for my bones are in agony." - Psalm 6:2 If you enjoyed this episode, we encourage you to share it on your social media, tag us in it and leave us a written review on Apple podcasts. We LOVE being able to engage with, get to know and learn from our listeners and we want to be sure we keep the relationship a two way street - so we look forward to hearing from more of you
Follow the bouncing ball! After an unexpected two week hiatus, Kyla & Chelsey are back and per usual, they've got a lot to say. As the girls talk goal setting and walk through their own processes when it comes to goal setting, they talk about different goals they have for the year, how they plan to get there and discuss some different goal setting strategies you can implement yourself! Chesley shares a strategy she likes to implement when setting goals of her own and how you can decide if your goal is a "good" goal and that's by determining whether or not it's a SMART goal. What does that mean? A SMART goal is a goal that is specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and time-bound. Goal setting helps motivate you to turn your vision of this future into your reality. The girls discuss how setting goals helps trigger new behavior to help guide your focus and maintain your momentum. If you have followed along with this week's episode, please leave us a written review. We love to engage with our listeners so if you're not already following both Kyla ( @kylagrass_ ) and Chelsey ( @chelseyyy_n ) on Instagram, go give them both a follow and say hello! Thank you so much, from the bottom of our hearts, for being on this journey along with us
On this week's episode, join Kyla & Chelsey as they talk about some of the hardest things and moments in their lives that have brought them to the point in life where they now see their past (and current) struggles as their main source of motivation. They touch on how they know oftentimes people think that motivation is some new, catchy thing that has to be refreshed each and every day for someone to stay consistent and keep pushing forward toward their goals, but Kyla & Chelsey share with us a different perspective. Have you ever been in the check out line, checking your bank account balance and adding up your grocery total to see if you need to put something back? Have you ever been in the checkout line and your card gets declined - where you either have to make a desperate phone call for your spouse to transfer money or you have to leave your goods and walk away? Have you ever started a workout program because you despise the way you look, so you think you're starting it to punish your body and yourself into getting into shape? Have you ever struggled for money in the way that you're selling belongings on the side, asking for odd and end jobs to help make a little cash, or donating plasma just because it pays well? We've all been there, in one way or another, and most of us have been there in multiple ways. Listen as Kyla & Chelsey give their advice for how to get through these times mixed with a little encouragement as to how you can too. If you haven't already, please leave a written review on Apple Podcast! If you're listening to this episode, share it to your social media and tag Kyla & Chelsey so they can see! On this week's episode of UnapologeticallyHER, join the girls as they talk about the all too common I'll just wait until the first of the year mentality. What's the significance of waiting until the first of the year? Is a “clean slate” really a thing? What's the difference between today and a random Thursday two weeks from now? Short answer? Nothing. When you tell yourself you're going to start something at the beginning of the new year, especially a few weeks out, then that's nothing more than an excuse to procrastinate. Whether you're starting a business, a workout program, cleaning up your nutrition habits or making another don't wait, it's not benefiting you or anyone else! Make sure you follow us on Instagram @kylagrass_ and @chelseyyy_n
On this week's episode, Kyla & Chelsey dive into something they have learned over the last several years and that is how important it is to discover your why. They're not talking about the surface level 'why' where you say it's because you "want to look good" or "want to feel good" or "be around for a long time for your kids" why. They're talking about that deep why, the one that keeps you awake at night, the one that if you think about it long enough it will bring tears to your eyes to imagine accomplishing exactly what you're going after. Chelsey shared a quote, "Nothing gives a person inner wholeness and peace like a distinct understanding of where they are going." by Thomas Oppong, and the girls discuss what they think of this quote and how it is applicable to life. Kyla & Chelsey discuss the thought that people who have a sense of purpose are often seen as unstoppable, capable of shaping their lives however they want, and that having an unclear why often leaves people unmotivated and unfulfilled, wasting a lot of time. They touch on their love for the book The Compound Effect by Darren Hardy. They share several great takeaways worth listening to and taking note on, so give this episode a listen and let them know what you think! If you enjoyed this episode, they would love it if you would take a few moments of time to leave them a review on the Apple Podcast app and/or share a story with your friends on your Instagram. Both girls discuss how valuable these reviews are and how great they make them feel when people take the time to share their enjoyment of the UnapologeticallyHER Podcast
Join us this week as Kyla & Chelsey dive into the topic of raising a business and raising babies at the same time. In all the years the girls have been mom's, one of the things they've noticed most consistently is that when a mom is told to do something for herself, it's almost always meant as a surface level form of “self care”. For both Kyla & Chelsey, it was something they had to figure out and navigate on their own. They wanted more than time alone to go to the store, a pedicure or a night out with friends. From first hand experience, the girls discovered that what they actually needed - was something FOR themselves. Something that sparked creativity. Something that sparked passion. Something that fueled their hearts and set their souls on fire. Something that was FOR them - not their families - just them. Ultimately, as with anything else, that something is going to benefit their families, of course, but that's not what they mean when they say that as mom's it's so important to do/have something for themselves. Tune in to this weeks episode to hear more! Let them know what you think of this weeks episode. Share the episode and tag the girls on your Instagram story. Leave them a written review. Shoot them a DM! Let them know you're listening!
After a lengthy series about marriage the girls, Kyla & Chelsey, are back this week to change the subject and talk about a topic near and dear to their hearts. It's 2021, social selling is huge and such a wonderful opportunity for so many people to bring an income into their lives. Listen as Kyla & Chelsey talk about the benefits of social selling, bust some myths surrounding it and explain that social selling shouldn't just be acceptable for in/famous influencers online. It's time to stop the judgement and full send your support for woman and men everywhere, including the ones who have taken this concept of social selling and changed their lives and the lives of their families. Have you ever looked at a couple who have been together X number of years and wondered how they've managed to stay together for all those years? Join Kyla & Chelsey as their good friends Ashley & Ryan Allen pop in to talk about their marriage and how they've managed to overcome adversity over the years. Ashley, you may remember, has been on the podcast before, and the girls wanted to bring her back to tell the story of her and Ryan's marriage, things they've been through, and battles they've gone through that have allowed their marriage to withstand the test of time. You can find Ashley on Instagram at @ashleyanallen and on her podcast, The FUELher Podcast. The FUELher Podcast The podcast Ashely briefly spoke about is titled, The Hustle Sanely Podcast, with host Jess Massey. Join us this week as Chelsey is joined by special guest, her husband, Christian and they chat through how to keep the spark alive in marriage amongst everything else they have going on. If you know the Nicodemus family, you know they lead a busy life full of all the things they love. It's been a learning curve over the last 10 years as they've had to navigate many life changes and keep their marriage alive to survive it all. Listen as they run through some tips, rather suggestions, to help you learn some of the things they've learned along the way, without the trial and error portion. It's not perfect, and it never will be, but perfection isn't ever the goal - the goal is to be healthy and happy, and that part, I think they've gotten down
In this weeks episode we have the pleasure of having Kyla's husband Jake back on the podcast. Jake and Kyla talk about the struggles they went through postpartum with their first child and how they decided they weren't going to go down that path again with baby number two. You'll get the mothers perspective and the fathers side as well. We hope this will help any newly parents out there or any soon to be parents. The biggest two tips we can give is 1. COMMUNICATE and 2. Always date your spouse. Until next Thursday!
On this week's episode of UnapologeticallyHER, join the girls as Kyla & Chelsey begin a short series on marriage, as requested by listeners. This week, Kyla & Chelsey touch on how marriage being described as "hard" is a trigger for them, a couple of the negative stigmas that often surround marriage and explain a few of the topics that will be coming in the week's ahead. Kyla, being in a brand new season of life, talks about balancing marriage with 2 kids under 3 and a few of the challenges that come with the territory she's currently in. Chelsey, being in a very different season of life, talk about how her marriage has gone through several phases of growing pains as her and her husband are quickly approaching their 10th wedding anniversary. Grab your favorite beverage, get comfy and share a few laughs with the girls as they talk through and discuss previous struggles, current struggles and set you up for what's to come over the next couple of weeks! We encourage you to follow us on Instagram, where we are most active, @kylagrass_ and @chelseyyy_n, and please, if you're enjoying following along - leave us a written review on the Apple Podcast app so we can shout you out and personally thank you for being on this journey with us! Until next week
On today's episode of UnapologeticallyHER, join Kyla & Chelsey as they discuss the realities of postpartum and the 4th trimester as well as the expectations that we as a society and as individuals place on mother's. The girls talk about expectations that are/were placed on them as new mothers and the realities of the harm that can do to a new mom's psyche. They talk about their postpartum journey's, what they struggled with, how different each journey is and the things that no one tells you prior to giving birth. They discuss some things you can do, as a new mom, to prepare and protect yourself from the harm these expectations can cause and encourage their listeners to remember that no postpartum journey is ever going to be perfect - that the most important thing one can do as a new mom is to protect her energy and take care of herself first and foremost. Listen in as they both laugh, hold back tears and share their realities, while knowing that motherhood is an absolute blessing but never a walk in the park
On this weeks episode Kyla & Chelsey talk about what it means to be UnapologeticallyHER - after all, that is what this podcast is all about. Listen as they touch on how another person's opinion of you, doesn't have any bearing on your life. Their opinion of you, is honestly none of your business and the girls discuss why this is true and why it is important. Join in as Chelsey updates us on her trip to Boston last weekend, and the girls give life updates while catching up. A few important things to take away from this episode; choose yourself. every day. in every way. unapologetically. Stop apologizing for every little thing. Journal your thoughts and feelings. Prioritize yourself. And don't you dare feel sorry for a bit of it
On today's episode, Kyla & Chelsey open up about their experiences as health and fitness coaches with Beachbody. Join the girls as they talk through the good, the bad and the best of their time. They both detail their 3+ year experiences with the company and share never before told stories as to why they made their exit from the Beachbody coaching world and what they're doing now. This episode is NOT meant to bash Team Beachbody in any way, but rather a chance to answer the always popular question of “so why did you quit/leave Beachbody?” Both Kyla & Chelsey were VERY active and VERY vocal about their roles as coaches, so it's no surprise that our followers and listeners want to hear this story. The girls mention their friend, Ashley, who has a story of her own to share on the topic and whether or not she has a podcast episode of her own detailing the events of what happened to her. After talking to Ashley, she does not YET have one, but she will soon enough and we will let you all know when that episode drops! Thank you for tuning in to another episode of UnapologeticallyHER, we are so happy to have this time to spend with each and every one of you Don't ever hesitate to reach out to us via DM & leave us a written review. We absolutely love to read through those and share them with our followers who haven't yet listened. Talk soon! Kyla's new IG handle @KylaGrass_
It's up to us to break generational cycles! When they say "it runs in the family" we say "and this is where it runs out."
We've all been there, where the path we're on in life just doesn't quite seem right anymore. Maybe we're feeling unfulfilled. Maybe we're burnt out. Or maybe we've just found something new that ignites our souls. Regardless of the reason, on today's episode, through life seasons and lessons of their own, Chelsey & Kyla talk about how it's perfectly okay to rewrite your story, mid-script. Listen and share a few laughs as they talk about their childhoods and the college journeys that got them to where they are today, exactly where they're suppose to be. We hope to leave you feeling confident in yourself to make those decisions that you may be putting off and to trust your gut, after all, it's only us that has to live our lives each day. So let's start a trend of going out and getting what we want, no matter how many times we have to rewrite and/or edit our stories.
We all have habits and inherently there is nothing wrong with having them. Some habits are useful such as making your bed in the mornings, exercising, resetting your space before bed other habits like drinking too much caffeine, eating out too much, or staying up to late - are not as useful. Breaking unwanted habits can be extremely difficult for a number of reasons but Chelsey and I help break down a few tips on how you can slowly turn those unwanted habits away. Tips we mention: 1. Make it invisible 2. Make it unattractive 3. Make it difficult 4. Make it unsatisfying 5. Name and know your why 6. Prepare for slip ups 7. Give it time & in todays episode we dig a little deeper into each tip and how it has helped us with our own habits that no longer serve us. Book mentioned: Atomic Habits by James Clear
I'M BACK!! In today's episode I go over all things with Lanie's birth! Plus Chels and I give advice to first time moms on things we wish we would have done differently with our first born compared to what we did with our second.
Despite it being baby week for Kyla and her family, we are still here to bring you another episode of UnapologeticallyHER! On this week's episode, you will find Chelsey and her husband, Christian, answering several questions our listeners submitted. We will talk everything from our love story to marriage to parenting to co-owning a business together to military life to PTSD and so much more. Nearly 10 years of marriage down and 12 years together, we've been through it all - some things our friends/family/followers will already know, as well as some things that have never been said publicly. This episode is chalked full of stories, information and advice on a wide array of topics, so you're not going to want to miss it! Vulnerability is huge in the land of UnapologeticallyHER and this episode is no different. We hope you enjoy!

We've all heard the saying " you're the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with." and honestly it couldn't be more accurate. When it comes to relationships, we are greatly influenced whether we like it or not...by those closets to us. It affects our way of thinking, our self- esteem, and our decision. Of course, everyone is their own person, but research has shown that we're more affected by our environment than we think. Which means our support system plays such a BIG role in our lives, more than we honestly think. In todays episode we talk about not only the importance of one but how to navigate when the most important people in our lives aren't as supportive.
