With years of ministry experience, they have an honest, practical conversation about why so many churches struggle—and what it takes to turn things around. Josh shares a startling stat from Discipleship.org—less than 5% of American churches have a functioning disciple-making culture. The problem isn't a lack of knowledge but a lack of implementation. They explore how church culture, more than strategy or programs, is the key factor holding disciple-making back. Josh and Jason unpack Discipleship.org's vision: increasing that 5% to 16%. Drawing from Malcolm Gladwell's “tipping point” concept, they explain that once 16% of churches embrace disciple-making, it can trigger a larger movement across the country. The issue isn't that people don't know how to make disciples—it's that they don't want to. Josh and Jason stress that real change happens when disciple-making becomes embedded in a church's DNA, not just another ministry program. Jason shares how his Iowa church is reshaping its culture—turning every ministry into a disciple-making opportunity. Whether serving coffee or leading worship, everything is intentionally tied to discipleship. Josh reminds leaders that culture starts at the top. Leaders must model disciple-making, celebrate progress (not just success), and reinforce the mission constantly. The hosts emphasize the importance of celebrating even small disciple-making efforts. They introduce the idea of “sucking forward”—embracing failures as part of the journey and encouraging leaders to keep pushing forward. Josh and Jason challenge leaders to be among the first to embrace disciple-making, even before it's mainstream. These pioneers will be key to hitting the 16% tipping point and sparking a larger movement. Josh closes with a powerful analogy: Leaders shouldn't just measure church culture; they should set it. Shaping a disciple-making culture requires intentional action, not passive observation. The episode wraps up with an invitation to engage with Discipleship.org for resources and support. Josh and Jason also invite listeners to their upcoming forum in Houston, where they'll continue the conversation and equip leaders for disciple-making.

How can one of the busiest airports in the world lead the charge toward sustainability? Recorded live at Autodesk University 2024, Kendra Brown and Robert Brown join the podcast to discuss how Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport is breaking ground on visionary sustainability initiatives. From the construction of the new Electric Central Utility Plant (E-CUP) to achieving Net Zero Carbon by 2030—20 years ahead of global targets—DFW is setting the bar for sustainable airport infrastructure. Kendra Brown is a BIM Coordinator at Keville Enterprises, Inc. and the ACC System Administrator for DFW International Airport. She coordinates civil projects such as the 17R Runway rehabilitation, International Parkway Right Exits, and Southwest End-Around Taxiway. Robert Brown is Sr. Project Controls System Manager at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW). He is a certified Remote Pilot and Weightlifting Performance Coach, and he has additional experience as Survey Party Chief, Engineering Tech III, and Construction Education Adjunct Professor. TODD TAKES Real World Demands and Ambitious Goals: The team at DFW Airport knows the stakes are high—balancing real-world demands with ambitious targets, like reaching net-zero emissions by 2030 instead of 2050. Big goals create urgency, keeping everyone motivated to push harder and innovate. Failing Forward and Building Buy-In: Getting leadership support for bold initiatives is crucial, but so is creating a culture where it's okay to fail. At DFW, they embrace the idea that failure is part of progress, which allows their team to take calculated risks and explore new tech solutions without fear. Leveraging Technology to Connect and Adapt: DFW uses tools like Autodesk Construction Cloud and digital twins to keep everyone—from field crews to executives—connected and aligned on projects. The focus is on creating seamless communication and adaptability, ensuring all parts of the team work as one well-oiled machine. Thanks for listening! “I'm not sure I ever really wanted to be an entrepreneur.” – Fabi Preslar Ever turned your biggest fear into your proudest achievement? That's Fabi's story. Inspired by her father's ambitious (but unsuccessful) business ventures—from running a French restaurant in rural South Carolina to raising chinchillas—Fabi saw firsthand the risks of entrepreneurship. As her father's ventures failed, her family lost everything, leaving Fabi to grow up a guest in someone else's home. Why would she ever dive into entrepreneurship herself? For Fabi, it started with a need—an extra $100 a month when she was home with her baby. But soon she was all in, & good mentors helped her overcome her fears around entrepreneurship & embrace the idea of “failing forward.” Today, after more than two decades of learning, Fabi's built one the southeast's most regarded publishing companies, reminding us just where tenacity & authenticity can lead, even when the journey begins in the most unexpected way. To learn more, find her at FabiPreslar.com. Can't help but think of what George Addair said: "Everything you've ever wanted is on the other side of fear."

The pressure to turn a passion into a profitable business while keeping up with the demands of parenting can leave many feeling unsure of where to start or whether they have what it takes. With social media filled with perfect images of other moms seemingly "doing it all," it's easy to feel like you're falling short if your journey isn't picture-perfect. But here's the truth: Success doesn't require perfection, and you don't need to have it all figured out before you begin. What if instead of waiting for the "right time" or having the perfect setup, you took the chance by “failing forward”? Could being messy and imperfect actually be the secret to making your passion profitable? In this episode, I talk to cookbook and Substack author, Caroline Chambers, who built a successful business while balancing motherhood. She shares why action is the key to clarity and how to start small, monetize trust, and grow your passion without waiting for the perfect moment. Things You'll Learn In This Episode Why You Should Be Open to Change If you're feeling stuck, it might be because the path you're on isn't where your true passion lies, and trying something new could open doors you never knew existed. Are you holding yourself back by staying in your current routine? “Failing Forward” is Okay Success comes from learning, not perfection. What could you achieve if you let go of needing everything to be perfect and just started? Turn Trust into a Business Building real trust with your community encourages support and can create opportunities for making money. Have you thought about how you could turn the trust people have in you into something valuable? Guest Bio Caroline Chambers grew up in the kitchen on her mom's hip, learning how to cook in their Winston-Salem, North Carolina, home. Her professional food career began in her early twenties when she worked as a chef and caterer. After a stint in a professional test kitchen, Caro struck out on her own as a freelancer, developing recipes for a host of publications as well as brands such as Boursin Cheese and Kim Crawford Wine, and in 2018, she published her first cookbook, Just Married. In 2020—at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic—Caro began sharing her recipes and connecting with home cooks on Instagram (@carochambers ), and launched her newsletter, What to Cook When You Don't Feel Like Cooking, which flew to the top of the Substack charts; her podcast, So Into That, followed in 2023. Caro's latest cookbook, What To Cook When You Don't Feel Like Cooking, is available for pre-order and will be out on August 13, 2024. Caro lives in Carmel Valley, California, with her husband, George, and their three young sons, Mattis, Calum, and Cashel—one of whom can almost always be found in the kitchen on her hip.
