William Joseph Earle, known as Bill, was a remarkable Australian athlete known for his impressive performance in the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. Born in Stawell, Victoria, he developed a passion for athletics from a young age, showcasing his talent in various track events. Bill Earle made a significant mark on the national stage, becoming a prominent figure in Australian sports.At the Tokyo Games, he competed in the men's 4 x 100 relay, a challenging event that requires not only speed but astute Strategy and strength. The Australian team's time was only a mere 1.1 second from the outright winnerHis journey from Stawell to the Olympic stage is a testament to his perseverance and determination. Bill's grandmother was responsible for providing the Gold medal for the winner. He was appointed Chairman of the Australia France Foundation founded by Prime Ministers Rocard & Hawk. He was made a Chevalier National l'order of Merit. He has over 100 menus from the top restaurants in France. Among many other appointments he was Delegue Payee For Rhone Poulenc. Director of Stem Cell Sciences KK .On the Board of what was to become the National Stroke Foundation. In one day he was forced to enjoy copious quantities of Dom Perignon Champange. He enjoys playing tennis, Chamber music and of course Petanque.He didn't enjoy being swept overboard in Bass StraitIn 2024 he and his wife Libby, spent 71 nights away travelling, and taking in over 30 music concerts.He has over 600 framed photographs in his entrance way at his home.He has a story to tell .
