Journalist og forfatter Yohan Shanmugaratnam fikk fri tilgang til Chirag, Magdi og hele Karpe-maskineriet gjennom 2022. Resultatet er boka Hjertet i to. Det begynte med teksten Yohan skrev om «Baraf». Det var ikke bare vi, men en hel generasjon med barn av fremmedspråklige som følte seg sett, sier Chirag om Yohans kronikk i Klassekampen. Kronikken ble startskuddet for boka Hjertet i to.Journalist og forfatter Yohan Shanmugaratnam fikk innpass i det innerste teamet rundt Chirag og Magdi, der svært få slipper inn. Han fikk være med på turnébusser, møter og fester og hadde en rekke samtaler med Magdi og Chirag om kunsten, livet og musikken. – Men vi har også snakket mye identitet, flerkultur og alt det innebærer å være innvandrerbarn og barn mellom kulturer, sier Yohan som selv har far fra Sri Lanka og mor fra Japan.Møt journalist og forfatter Yohan Shanmugaratnam på Litteraturhuset Fredrikstad i samtale med Aishath Therese Afeef.– Jeg har hatt samtaler med Chirag og Magdi om temaer jeg selv er opptatt av: identitet, flerkultur, utenforskap og inkludering. Jeg har også blitt kjent med menneskene rundt dem, folk som ellers pleier å holde seg i kulissene, men som er uunnværlige i Karpe-maskineriet, forteller Yohan.Boka behandler en tematikk som har vært viktig for Karpe gjennom hele karrieren, og som ble spesielt tydelig med Omar Sheriff. Yohan skildrer blant annet Chirag og Magdis uro over foreldrenes utenforskap og aldring. Foreldrenes dødelighet får en ekstra sårhet siden de er den viktigste broen til kulturen som har vært med på å forme duoen. Yohan tror at det faktum at foreldregenerasjonen nå er blitt så gamle, påvirker både ham og Karpe-gutta.Boken handler også om det nye Norge: Hvem er vi egentlig nå, og hva skal vi være fremover?Men mest av alt handler den om 2022, som ble Karpes år. Nok en gang satte de uvirkelige rekorder og skrev musikkhistorie. I januar lanserte de sitt nyeste musikalske prosjekt Omar Sheriff, som umiddelbart ble det mest strømmede norske albumet – noensinne. CTW009 We Are All Immigrants with Marlena Baraf   Born and raised in Panama, Marlena Baraf immigrated to the United States as a teenager in high school and became an American citizen during her 30s. After pledging her allegiance to the country she adopted as her own, she became a published author, book editor, interior designer, and a loving mother. Her work has been seen in several publications including the HuffPost and Read 650. She is the author of several essays about immigration, including the Soy/Somos (I am/ We are) series, as well as a recently published memoir, At the Narrow Waist of the World.   Marlena joins me today to share her experience as an American immigrant and the message she hopes to convey through her writing. We discuss the different cultures that compose our country and society and how, at the end of the day, we are all immigrants in America. Els que vivim pendents de les novetats en el món dels jocs de taula sempre desitgem trobar una de molt interessant... ja sigui per tenir unes mecàniques noves, o un tema poc convencional i ben filat amb les mecàniques, o perquè saps que agradarà a un bon espectre del públic. Si a sobre hem de ressenyar a un mitjà com la ràdio o la premsa escrita, volem aportar quelcom original i de vegades recorrem als jocs d'importació com a recurs fàcil per veure coses que encara no han sortit massivament al nostre territori. Avui, amb el joc Herbaceous hem tirat d'aquest recurs (guiats també per la bona nota a la comunitat de la BoardGameGeek -un 7.2- i per veure'l ressenyat amb bones crítiques a algun canal de youtubers espanyols). Doncs bé... preu per preu i valorant el que aporta lúdicament aquest Herbaceous us he de dir que, amb una experiència de més de 10 anys ficats de cap i peus en el panorama, ho deixaríem estar. És un joc bufó i simpàtic, però costa 25€ o més en ser d'importació, el tindreu en anglès i escala de 2 a 4 jugadors aportant un mode de joc en solitari. Gastant la meitat o encara menys teniu un joc de cartes excepcional, no és novetat... és de l'any 2003 però l'acaba de reeditar Devir, que mecànicament funciona millor, el tindreu en castellà, sacrificareu el mode solitari però podreu jugar de 2 a 5 persones (un jugador més) i ocupa quatre vegades menys a l'hora de guardar-ho. Ens referim a Coloretto. Amb això volem dir que hi ha un excessiu culte a la novetat. No podem guiar-nos massa per notes, rànquings ni ressenyes de joves youtubers (amb una il·lusió i passió immensa, però potser també amb una immensa falta de rodatge). Aquest episodi crec que ens servirà per desconfiar positivament de l'eufòria del novell i mantenir la serenor i la precaució abans d'ampliar les nostres ludoteques. El consell "provar abans de comprar" sempre és bo.
