Pero hasta la venida definitiva de su reino en gloria, nos queda un largo ejercicio de obediencia a la voluntad divina, en el que necesitamos hacer progresos continuos.Esta parte de la oración que nos enseñó Jesús nos pone como ideal para nosotros en la tierra la manera en que la voluntad de Dios es respetada en el cielo (Sal. 103: 20-22). El cielo sigue siendo para nosotros el modelo de lo que deberíamos hacer aquí.Hacer la voluntad de Dios es, en cierto sentido, renunciar a ejercer nuestra voluntad deformada por nuestra naturaleza rebelde, acostumbrada a querer salirse siempre con la suya. Por eso, la oración más sensata que podemos elevar a Dios, sin duda también la más difícil es la oración de Jesús: «No se haga mi voluntad, sino la tuya» (Luc. 22: 42). Ese fue también el secreto de su éxito.Cuando Jesús ora en Getsemaní «No se haga mi voluntad, sino la tuya», no ignora, sino que presiente con toda lucidez, los horrores que se le avecinan. Entregarse a la voluntad divina para Jesús era confiar en que de todo lo malo que estaba por pasarle, Dios podía sacar algo bueno.Esa confianza en su Padre celestial, que no iba a evitarle los efectos secundarios de dolor que lleva consigo la condición humana en este mundo injusto, iba acompañada de la convicción profunda de que Dios es capaz de sublimar ese sufrimiento y darle un sentido.Entregarnos a la voluntad de Dios no es mera resignación, sino casi lo contrario. Es la decisión de luchar a brazo partido contra la adversidad, pero sabiendo que no estamos solos, que con él nunca lo estaremos. Es la confianza en que lo que nos ocurra, aunque sea malo de momento, jamás podrá separarnos del amor de Dios (Rom. 8: 38-39).Muchos de nuestros semejantes que pasan por situaciones dolorosas necesitan saber que, cuando nos entregamos plenamente a la voluntad divina, podemos confiar en que nada de lo que nos ocurra será en vano. Si estamos en las manos de Dios, podemos estar seguros de que en ningún otro sitio estaremos mejor.Enséñame, Señor, a compartir esta esperanza.
