Dave LaGreca and WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray break down Sunday's Hell in a Cell PPV, in particular the 3 big matches INSIDE Hell in a Cell: Roman Reigns/Jey Uso, Bayley/Sasha Banks, and Drew McIntyre/Randy Orton. Great matches, and in particular with one, great STORYTELLING, as Dave and Bully explain.
With the latest WWE Draft in the books, host Adam Silverstein and co-host Chris Vannini open with a robust discussion about how the SmackDown and Raw rosters have been altered now that superstars have been rotated between the brands along with how WWE handled the draft itself [3:42]. "The Silver King" points out that the Raw main event scene is stacked compared to its SmackDown counterpart, while "Vintage" has concerns about both tag team divisions. The guys also break down WWE's decision to split New Day and swap the tag team titles, namely why the storyline was more offensive to smart fans and kayfabe then the general idea of the decision itself. Over the rest of the show, Adam and Chris breakdown the fallout from SmackDown and Raw [1:04:20], including the main event storylines (Roman Reigns-Jey Uso, Randy Orton-Drew McIntyre), why the Bayley-Sasha Banks intensity has fizzled, how both "The Fiend' Bray Wyatt and Alexa Bliss have been completely revitalized by their new storyline, and much more. This week on The GMTE Podcast, These are The Express Takes I'll discuss... My full honest review and thoughts about this week's WWE Monday Night Raw and why it was all about WASH, RINSE, & REPEAT again. I go over the numbers and ratings for last week's episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown on FOX & give my educated guess on this week's numbers for Monday Night Raw (which I was correct). I also talk about the Bayley/Sasha Banks breakup and how it was mishandled badly by Michael Cole & Corey Graves. My full honest recap/review of AEW All Out & why The Matt Hardy/Sammy Guevara "Broken Rules" Match had no business to keep going after the fall by Matt Hardy off the Lift. I don't hold back on my feelings towards it. My thoughts about this week's WWE NXT "Super Tuesday Part 2" Episode & if I think the big matches delivered. Vince McMahon is trying to have his "Independent Performers" IE Wrestlers stop using 3rd party apps to make money. Find out why I think both Vince and the Wrestlers are in their respective rights here & if I think they will be allowed to keep using the apps. EA Sports has announced that Colin Kaepernick will be back on "Madden 21" Football. Find out why I think this is a good thing overall & why everyone should be fine with it. It's the start of another NFL season & I'll share my Week 1 NFL Picks with you including My Upset Pick of the Week. Finally a French Tourist gets fined in Italy for trying to take something unusual home. Find out how much the fine was and what the item was. I hope you are all doing well during this time. Sit back, grab a cold water, & enjoy this episode of the podcast, Keep It In Full Drive!!! Thanks everyone!!!
With WWE finally having calmed down after two pay-per-views in as many weeks, SmackDown produced one of its best episode of the entire pandemic era, while Raw was largely treading water. Host Adam Silverstein and co-host Chris Vannini open with The Main Event [2:26], breaking down our first extended look at the Roman Reigns-Paul Heyman and Jey Uso's surprise No. 1 contendership, the explosive Bayley-Sasha Banks split and how WWE will book their feud, and whether Keith Lee has been lost amid the Drew McIntyre-Randy Orton bootfest. The guys then discuss everything else from the shows [42:45], including Murphy vs. Dominick Mysterio, Kevin Owens vs. Aleister Black in Raw Underground, Cedric Alexander's turn, rough booking of the Raw women, Retribution's biggest moment to date and WWE's major issues in the tag team division across both programs and genders [1:26:25]. Just minutes after WWE Payback went off the air on Sunday night, host Adam Silverstein and co-host Chris Vannini jumped on the horn to break down perhaps the best pay-per-view of the year for any company to date. After cracking some cans, the guys begin by discussing Roman Reigns' heel turn and WWE deciding to change the universal championship just seven days after "The Fiend" Bray Wyatt beat Braun Strowman for the title at SummerSlam [5:50]. "The Silver King" and Chris then run through the rest of the show [29:30], including their excitement for the tag team of Rey & Dominik Mysterio, Keith Lee going over strong against Randy Orton, a shockingly great women's tag team title match, what the future holds for Bayley & Sasha Banks, massive wins for Big E and Matt Riddle and the meaning of three title changes in a single night. The guys wrap up by wondering about the future of Retribution, grading the show and posturing whether WWE's incredible PPV booking will translate to TV this week and going forward [1:06:57]. The shocking final minutes of the go-home SmackDown ahead of WWE Payback lead this special show as host Adam Silverstein and co-host Chris Vannini break down Roman Reigns' decision to become a "Paul Heyman Guy," what it means for his face-heel status and whether it will have any impact on Sunday night's main event [9:09]. "The Silver King" explains why turning Reigns heel in this moment is so important for his long-term success before the guys wade through everything on SmackDown that will not impact the pay-per-view [20:58]. Adam and Chris wrap things up with their WWE Payback ultimate preview [45:00], sharing analysis and predictions on the entire card, including the universal title no holds barred match between Reigns, Braun Strowman and champion "The Fiend" Bray Wyatt; Bayley & Sasha Banks' women's tag team title match (and their future as best friends); Keith Lee major opportunity vs. Randy Orton; and Rey & Dominik Mysterio going up against Seth Rollins & Murphy. This PPV was predictable through the first half. Everyone knew there were going to be no swerves. However, three great matches with great storytelling saved it somewhat. Randy Orton vs Keith Lee, Bayley/Sasha Banks vs Shayna Baszler/Nia Jaz and The Mysterios vs Seth Rollins/Buddy Murphy.
