This week, we're heading back into the not so distant past and dive deep into the first NXT TakeOver to take place outside of Full Sail University, NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn I on August 22, 2015. Sasha Banks and Bayley changed women's wrestling in WWE forever, Kevin Owens was in the middle of his NXT swansong and WWE main roster rookie deal as he faced Finn Bálor in a Ladder Match for the NXT Championship, Samoa Joe and Baron Corbin faced off, and much more. It was the night before SummerSlam 2015 and it was evident just how much NXT was booked for the sickos at this time. BUT FIRST, we talk AEW All In, Ricochet heading to AEW, and more. -- Follow us on Twitter/X [@_piccone] [@VaughnMJohnson] [@ShootersRadio] You can subscribe to The Straight Shooters on the following platforms: [Apple Podcasts] [Spotify] [iHeartRadio] [Amazon] [Audacy] [TuneIn Radio] [Pandora] and wherever else you get your podcasts! shooterspod.com Exclusive Patreon content: [patreon.com/shootersradio] Facebook: [The Straight Shooters] --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/shootersradio/support

It's been 1 year since our first definitive ruling if a wrestling match was a classic. Since then, our SCIENCE~! has changed, our tastes have been updated and we've become a little more polished at what we do (hopefully). In that year, there were two matches ran though our original formula that were deemed not classics and were hotly debated. They are Brock Lesnar vs. CM Punk at Summerlam 2013 and Bayley vs. Sasha Banks at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn. A little less than a year later, we revisit how they pass through the new science. Are either of them classic worthy? Join us as we take a look back. There was also this little thing called Wrestlemania that happened which we talk about. Come check us out and join us for another great year!Follow us on instagram @classic_pod or e-mail us at isitaclassicpod@gmail.comTimestamps:5:18 Wrestlemania Thoughts22:44 Revisiting Brock Lesnar vs. CM Punk43:08 Revisiting Bayley vs Sasha Banks

The Revival (currently known as FTR) face off against the team of Ciampa and Gargano in a match that stole the show in the Barclays center. The crowd was hot, the competitors brought their A-game, but was it enough to pass it through the SCIENCE~! and be considered a classic? This week's episode brought to you by Indy Wrestling US, Slice on Broadway, Occupy Pro Wrestling, and THRIFTY Podcast! We are joined by Lady Frost and her Savage Gentleman for this week's episode. The pair is fresh off their recent travels, but take a break in preparations for their appearance on the upcoming Blackcraft Wrestling event to join us for some wrestling chat. They are joined by our mayhem crew of Sorg, Bobby F J-Town, and Rizz as we talk about: SummerSlam happened. We're sharing some thoughts - including some MMA talk WITH the Savage Gentleman (who is a former MMA talent himself). Ronda Rousey has gone from MMA to wrestling - just like our in-studio guest the Savage Gentleman. Everyone's quick to judge Ronda Rousey, but you can't look at the current women's revolution without giving her props. MMA was against having a women's division - but look at how much women have changed the sport. Although Ronda Rousey may be "new" to WWE, she paid her dues in MMA and has built her legacy. Putting a wrestler in the octagon does not have the same reaction as putting an MMA fighter in the ring. Matt Riddle gets to do what he loves - wrestling. Speaking of the women's Evolution, Ronda Rousey is going to make an impact. You can't discredit someone's natural abilities. Alexa Bliss vs Trish Stratus at Evolution? We. Can't. Wait. NXT Takeover Brooklyn happened. We're sharing our thoughts. The Savage Gentleman and Lady Frost are sharing how much they LOVED the first match of NXT Takeover Brooklyn. Different kinds of wrestling are like different flavors of ice cream. Everyone has their own preferences. Settling an in-house debate: Do you watch Facebook videos with or without sound? Table for 3 is all about Twitter. Mayhem Show is all about Facebook. Velveteen Dream going totally Rick Rude with his "Call Me Up Vince" tights = Priceless. We're pretty much learning that what's old is new again. We're talking some Ciampa v Johnny Gargano from NXT Takeover Brooklyn. Demon Balor on SummerSlam seemed to go over more for the ladies than the gents. So....Baron Corbin. WWE is getting super techy with their 3D integrations. This week's big question: What is your dream match for WWE Evolution? There's a wrestling show coming up with a new group in town with Blackcraft Wrestling. Our guests the Savage Gentleman and Lady Frost will be on the show, and they're telling us all about it! The Savage Gentleman might be cutting a promo on the show? Lady Frost and the Savage Gentleman are sharing some happenings from their recent travels. What did YOU learn in #Wrestling this week? Shout out to Brutal Bob Evans from our in-studio crew.

Bayley and Steve Austin break down her incredible NXT Takeover: Brooklyn match against Sasha Banks. Hear what Steve loved about it, what Bayley thought she could have done better, and what surprised them both. Bayley also has some thoughts on the evolution of her WWE character and what exactly that means for her young fans! Plus, Bayley's plans for the future outside the squared circle!
WWE Superstar & former RAW Women's Champ, Bayley, drops by 316 Gimmick Street to talk about her upcoming first trip to Japan, traveling with Sasha Banks, grape squishers, being a Ring General, and giving receipts. And she's sharing stories about Dusty Rhodes, John Cena, what she loved about Eddie Guerrero, and the real difference between NXT and WWE. You'll also hear about her basketball and cross-country track days in highschool, and why she's into Crossfit training now.
It's happening again - WWE fans are starting to turn on a once-beloved babyface. This time, it's Bayley who faces a slowly mounting resistance. Are these Bayley-Booers simply the result of "bad booking"? Are they indicative of an actual, worthwhile argument or an intelligent, critical observation of the character & the performer? Or is something else at work here - something predictably grim that needs to be squashed before it gains even more traction? Work of Wrestling host Tim Kail offers an answer to all of these questions and more by charting the coarse of the Bayley character from NXT Takeover Brooklyn in August of 2015 when she won her first NXT Women's Championship all the way to Extreme Rules 2017 where it appeared the once overflowing well of love for Bayley had all but dried up. This is an important episode that speaks to an ongoing problem in the pro-wrestling community that has a negative effect not only on people's ability to enjoy the show, but on a pro-wrestler's ability to have a successful career. Share this episode far and wide! Resist cynicism and frustration, and embrace the positivity and sincerity embodied in Bayley. Follow Tim on Twitter @WorkOfWrestling.
