PNR: This Old Marketing | Content Marketing with Joe Pulizzi and Robert Rose
This week's episode of This Old Marketing dives deep into the evolving world of AI, automation, and creator opportunities. 1. OpenAI's ChatGPT Atlas: A Google Killer? OpenAI's latest product, ChatGPT Atlas, has some wondering if this is a direct strike at Google's dominance in search. We break down what Atlas is, how it changes the discovery landscape, and what it means for marketers and creators. 2. AI and Robots Taking Jobs A New York Times article reports that Amazon plans to replace over half a million jobs with robots. But the twist? The AI industry itself is facing layoffs. Meta has cut significant staff from its AI operations, according to Axios. We explore what this says about the current state — and future — of the AI economy. 3. ChatGPT to Allow Adult Erotica (for Verified Users) OpenAI will soon allow adult-themed content for verified adults. Is this a necessary step toward realism and maturity online, or is it a PR nightmare waiting to happen? We debate whether the Internet needs true age-gating — or if this will end up being a “nothing burger,” as Robert might say. 4. Creators Take Flight — Literally Marketing Brew reports that YouTube creators are getting their content featured on Delta Airlines flights. It's a great marketing move — but does it signal that YouTube is becoming television? We discuss what this means for creators' reach and brand positioning. Marketing Winners of the Week Ann Handley's new website: A masterclass in simplicity and conversion, with a sharp focus on driving newsletter subscriptions. Kim Kardashian's Skims.com launch: A weirdly nostalgic move that has everyone talking. Raves of the Week Joe's Rave: The CRIT Framework from Geoff Woods — a practical model for using AI strategically through Context, Role, Interview, and Task. And get a month of Wispr Flow (dictation platform) for free here. Robert's Rave: Spotify's new personalized playlists that take algorithmic curation to the next level. What comes to mind when you think of a nightclub or rave? What about hip-hop or dance music? Probably not worship, repentance, holiness or encounters with the Holy Spirit! In recent years more Christians have found expressions for worship in predominantly secular music genres and communities. Paul Harrington is a British raver with a story to tell. A story about getting arrested in Ibiza with hundreds of E's in a cereal box. A story about the London acid house spots of the late 1980s and early 90s and running with violent football firms until euphoric anthems and a night on the doves at Legends turned his life around. A story about trading Hummers for mangoes with Afghani arms dealers. This real estate dealer from Essex fell into the London club scene fast and hard, lived a wild life, crawled out of cocaine addiction in his 40s and is now writing an autobiography about the whole thing called Beautiful Chaos. While we wait for the book to emerge, I spoke to Paul about burning bright, turning up, burning out and his adventures with the E Team. Hosted by Vivian Host (aka DJ Star Eyes). This refers to a present-focused, in-the-moment use of guidance rather than something mind-driven, planned, or “thought out” for the future. To learn more about Strategy and Authority, check out our previous episodes. -Rave terminology:Penta: The energetic formation that arises when the auras of three to five people come together and create a trans-auric entity, or a formation that creates a single, collective field. The penta transcends the influence of any individual being and has a collective purpose all its own. The penta will not have individual egos desires but will serve the Program i.e. The Matrix or innate intelligence of our physical universe.

Christian Fuchs, Pia Reiser & FM4 Kollege Martin Pieper blicken aus Anlass des meisterlichen Films auf ein Kino der Grenzüberschreitungen zurück, zwischen Kunst und Kontroverse. Welcome to the Prehospital Emergency Care Journal Podcast! Today, we're tackling a critical and often deadly emergency seen at mass gatherings like music festivals: psychostimulant-induced hyperthermia (PIH). This condition carries high mortality rates, but what if early, aggressive intervention could dramatically improve outcomes? Join us as we discuss the paper, "Physician Directed Prehospital Treatment in Psychostimulant Induced Hyperthermia: A Case Series," with one of its lead authors, Dr. Dorothy Habrat. Dr. Habrat will share insights into their physician-directed prehospital guideline, which integrates on-scene sedation, intubation, and rapid ice-water submersion for severe hyperthermia patients at electronic dance music festivals in San Bernardino County, California. Discover how this innovative guideline, incorporating ice-water immersion before transport, offers a significant potential to decrease the mortality risk of PIH in the prehospital setting and achieve neurologically intact survival. “What happens when raccoons discover a jacuzzi—and invite their friends?”In this wildly entertaining edition of The Ben and Skin Show, hosts Ben Rogers, Jeff “Skin” Wade, Kevin “KT” Turner, and Krystina Ray dive into the chaos of suburban wildlife, questionable human decisions, and the unexpected consequences of underestimating nature. The segment kicks off with a Florida man's home being overtaken by a gang of raccoons—who not only broke in but threw a full-blown party in his jacuzzi. From tinkering with the jets to alerting their raccoon buddies, this story plays out like a furry version of Project X. The crew shares their own raccoon run-ins, including attic infestations and trap-dodging geniuses. Then things take a darker turn with a cautionary tale from Tennessee: a hiker picks up a timber rattlesnake… and doesn't live to tell the tale. The team debates the rare fatality stats, the science behind venom reactions, and whether this is just Darwinism in action. (“It's like covering yourself in chum and jumping into shark-infested waters with honey-baked hams.”)

Big news in the tech and marketing world this week. AI search leader Perplexity stunned the industry with a $34 billion offer to buy Google Chrome. Is this just a headline-grabbing PR stunt… or could it actually give Google a way out of its ongoing antitrust mess? Meanwhile, OpenAI is scrambling to turn lemons into lemonade after the botched ChatGPT-5 launch. Did they completely miss the mark with their audience, or has their technology hit a temporary wall — giving Google, Anthropic, X, and others a window to catch up? Over on YouTube, creators who target children are sounding alarms over the platform's new age verification and machine learning plan, which goes into effect this week. Many fear it could hurt discoverability and revenue. Marketing Winners this week include Marketing AI Institute and the sweet, unexpected Oreos/Reese's mashup.
