In that case, you need to change your mindset and take responsibility for the process, including vetting the professionals you want to work with. That can only happen with a change of perspective since many professional athletes are used to having professionals readily available to them. How do you take ownership of your business life and understand it as well as you know your sports? Also, keeping in mind that the lifespan of your professional career is short, how do you start to plan your future, so you don't go bankrupt when you quit playing? Listen to this episode of the Inspired Insider Podcast with Dr. Jeremy Weisz featuring Tracy Deforge, Shawn Springs, and Donte Whitner. They discuss and expose the truth about being an athlete in business, the mindset needed, the professionals to vet, the mentors to keep, and the low and high points of the journey. Stay tuned.
One of the biggest joys I get from coaching others is helping them transition from being just a runner to becoming an athlete. I did not pick up running or any sports until well into my adult life. Going through this transition myself inspired me to help others accomplish it too. In this episode, I share a bit more about my own story and touch on the benefits of thinking, training, and living like an athlete. Welcome to another episode of the Health Me Podcast Episode #9!!Have you ever wondered what it would feel like to run a marathon? How about running a marathon after you biked over one hundred miles? Well you're in luck because today we get to hear from someone who has lived to tell the tale! When we think of getting ‘in shape', most equate our fitness level to running a couple miles on their treadmill, hoping on a bike, or perhaps walking to work off your lunch. For others, their own definition of being an athlete can certainly push the barrier of what we believe to be humanly possible. Although there is an athlete in all of us, the athlete we get to hear from today certainly pushes that envelope running marathons, doing iron mans which involves swimming, biking, and running; boxing, and strength training if that wasn't enough. Through multiple injuries, hours of planning, building her own healthcare support team, and many early morning training sessions, our next guest can certainly teach you a thing or two on how to optimize your life around your fitness goals. In addition to walking the walk, our next guest takes what she has learned and experienced in her training career to her professional life, leading and organizing a team with Nike. If anything, this podcast should leave you with no excuse to get moving and be more organized to turn your own ship toward achieving your individual fitness goals. I introduce to you Jessica Hastings!

In this episode, Luke explores what it means to be an athlete CEO, how to manage the advisors who support athletes and how to use a corporate organizational structure to ensure they are getting the information they need in order to make strategic decisions about their life outside of sports. An edited version of our summer Zoomcast with Emily Chappell.Emily is the author of the acclaimed What Goes Around (about life as a London bike courier) and Where There's a Will (about her 4000km unassisted ride across Europe in the Transcontinental cycle race). What Goes Around shows a new side to familiar city life, taking us inside the couriers' world, seen by everyone and known by no-one, while in Where There's A Will, Emily uses the lone physical challenge of her mighty ride across Europe to explore her own internal world, emotional and intellectual. An English graduate who says she was never one of the sporty crowd at school, Emily only became a serious athlete in her mid-20s. She brings a rare mix of a writerly thoughtfulness and serious athletic commitment to her books (and podcast conversations.) We recorded this on one of the hottest nights of the year. Maybe you can hear this in the relaxed and reflective nature of our chat, which takes in everything from how introverts can form a community to how cycling clubs can be more welcoming to newcomers - and what Emily learned about Lidl during her whistlestop European adventure.

In this episode of The Plant Trainers Podcast we talk to Drew Taddia about reducing stress and detoxing. Drew traveled the world as a professional athlete coming from Canada, through the US, and overseas into Australia and Germany following his dreams and passion for baseball. He quickly became the ‘go to’ guy regarding fitness and nutrition as he continually experimented on his own body to find out what foods would help him recover quicker or build muscle more efficiently, how to exercise in order to help him jump higher, run faster and help him stand out on the field. He soon found out stress played a vital role in what he was putting both in and on his body, and that by reducing stress through a plant based diet and avoiding toxins both on and off the field, he could improve as an athlete and stand out from the competition. We talk about how food and environment causes stress in our bodies and how we need to slow down and take a holistic approach to detoxing rather than following a fad. Drew gives some great tips for reducing stress in our lives and we share an amazing giveaway contest too. So be sure listen to this one and take part in the giveaway!
