Diese Episode hat das große Ziel, die Ursachen für Quantenspaltungen im Multiversum zu ergründen und zu beheben. Besonders spannend ist die Vorstellung von einer bunten Crew aus verschiedenen Star-Trek-Realitäten, die in dieser Episode zusammenkommen. Wir erleben, wie das Schicksal des Multiversums auf dem Spiel steht und erkennen die enge Verbindung der Figuren zueinander. Wir beginnen mit einem Rückblick auf die vorherige Episode, in der uns eine Zuschrift von Mike, einem Polizisten, erreicht hat. Seine Einblicke in die Bedeutung der Informationsweitergabe inspirieren uns, während wir feststellen, dass auch in unserer Diskussion das Übermitteln von wichtigen Informationen entscheidend ist. Die heutige Herausforderung, die wir als "Spaltmission" bezeichnen, führt uns also in die Frage, ob die Episode uns auseinander oder zusammenschweißt. Im weiteren Verlauf unserer Diskussion konzentrieren wir uns auf das humorvolle Spannungsfeld, in dem die Charaktere agieren. Rutherford kämpft mit einem technischen Implantat, das absurd agiert und sogar Plasma abfeuert. Zudem werden die durchdachten Designentscheidungen, die hinter den Schauplätzen und Requisiten stehen, gewürdigt, wodurch ein Hauch von Nostalgie in unsere Gespräche einfließt. Während wir in die Episode eintauchen, wird schnell klar, wie viel Detailverliebtheit in die Animationswelten geflossen ist. Rising inequality and globalization backlash. New technologies that speed up time and shrink the window for decision-making. A rising Great Power—China—that, like Wilhelmine Germany, simply cannot stop growing. And a declining empire—Russia—that, like Austria-Hungary, has quarrels on every border and an alliance with the rising power next door.The cast of characters, Westad warns, is also uncomfortably familiar. Trump is Joseph Chamberlain—the British conservative who turned his party against the free trade system it had championed. At the last exorcism performed on David, Arne challenged the demon that was terrorizing David to come into him and take him instead.
