I love being on my bike, so I thought it would be fun to have a police motorcycle expert on the show. Jerry “The Motorman” Palladino served with the Pasco County Sheriff's Department for 25 years, 15 of those as a motorcycle officer. Jerry Palladino is a certified Police Motor Officer and certified Motor Officer Instructor. I met Les, a bike mechanic, today on Slugget Road to fix my front derailleur. He explained that the cable and end stops needed adjusting, and showed me how dust accumulation had caused the shifter mechanism to stick. As he worked, he shared stories of cycling daily after retirement and fixing his own bikes as a kid. I mentioned my past in ultra-marathon running and my need for cross-training, and he advised me to listen to my joints. By the end, my bike was shifting smoothly, and I felt ready to tackle hills again.
