This week's mixtape rewind takes us back to an earlier season where we were joined by Tony Smith, formerly of the band Sleeper Agent.Tony Smith's musical journey begins with Saturday mornings filled with Christopher Cross's "Ride Like the Wind" – his mother's chosen soundtrack for family cleaning day – and ends with the transcendent experience of Bon Iver's "Naeem."Each selection marks a transformative moment: discovering Ben Kweller's "Wasted and Ready" at 3am led to a shift away from nu-metal toward indie rock; encountering The Pixies' "Debaser" completely redirected his career aspirations from filmmaking to music; and Modest Mouse's "Trailer Trash" became a personal anthem while working two jobs during high school, feeling trapped in his Kentucky hometown. What makes this episode special is Smith's vulnerability in sharing how deeply these songs penetrated his life. With three tattoos inspired by tracks on his mix, he demonstrates how music becomes physically part of our identity. His emotional description of waiting years to hear Bon Iver's "Naeem" in studio form – "my body filled with this strange chill and warmth at the same time" – perfectly captures music's power to move us beyond words. You can find his Spotify playlist here: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/1RyTOvV7DHYRfW4UdDHTry?si=610402a96acc4fe4 You can find the Super Awesome Mix app list here: https://app.superawesomemix.com/i3BxT4TjZeZyZ4Gb8  Preview of his list:I Want You Back by The Jackson 5Bad, Bad Leroy Brown by Jim CroceWorking Man by RushMMMBop by HansonWasted & Ready by Ben KwellerDebaser by PixiesTrailer Trash by Modest MouseHummingbird by WilcoLust For Life by GirlsFalling In Love Again by Joyce ManorSomething by Julien BakerNaeem by Bon IverFollow us @superawesomemix on Instagram to discover more personal musical journeys and share your own musical milestones that defined different chapters of your life.Support the showVisit us at https://www.superawesomemix.com to learn more about our app, our merchandise, our cards, and more!

The ritual of spring cleaning takes on new life in this energizing episode as Matt and Sam craft the perfect soundtrack for transforming both your living space and your mindset. Rather than viewing cleaning as a chore, we reimagine it as a journey of renewal that deserves its own carefully curated playlist. Our unique approach divides the cleaning experience into two complementary sides. Matt's selections begin with the motivational power of Christopher Cross's "Ride Like the Wind" (complete with its surprising LSD-inspired origin story) and progresses through tracks that address both physical spaces and internal "cleaning" – recognizing that sometimes the most important decluttering happens within ourselves. From the practical reminders of "Car Wash" by Rose Royce to the introspective examination in "Demons" by Imagine Dragons, Side A creates momentum for your cleaning journey.Sam's Side B acknowledges the reality that before things get cleaner, they often must first get messier. Starting with Matt and Kim's aptly titled "Make a Mess," these selections guide you through the emotional process of letting go (with Peter Bjorn and John's "Objects of My Affection"), finding motivation when energy flags (Britney's iconic "Work Bitch"), and ultimately creating your own personal paradise (Coldplay). What emerges is more than just a playlist – it's a thoughtful exploration of how our physical environments reflect our mental states. By creating order in our surroundings, we often discover newfound clarity and peace within ourselves. Throughout the episode, we share personal insights about the connection between clean spaces and clear minds, offering listeners both practical motivation and meaningful reflection.Whether you're tackling a major decluttering project or simply tidying up for the new season, this musical journey transforms mundane household tasks into an opportunity for renewal. Put on your headphones, grab your cleaning supplies, and join us in creating spaces that nourish rather than drain us as we welcome spring.https://music.apple.com/us/playlist/spring-cleaning-2025/pl.u-ppBRCdKjlz1.  Ride Like the Wind – Christopher Cross2.  Car Wash – Rose Royce3.  Demons – Imagine Dragons4.  Cleaning Windows – Van Morrison5.  Come Clean – Hilary Duff6.  Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem) – Jay-Z7.  Make a Mess – Matt and Kim8. The Blues Brothers Original Soundtrack is a powerhouse collection of rhythm and blues that captures the essence of the iconic film.  It features a blend of classic blues, soul, and rock 'n' roll performed by legendary artists including Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, James Brown, and Cab Calloway.  The Blues Brothers originated as a musical comedy act created by Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi on the sketch comedy show “Saturday Night Live” in the late 1970's.  Inspired by their shared love for blues and R&B music, Aykroyd and Belushi created fictional characters, Jake and Elwood Blues, as their alter egos.  The act gained popularity, leading to the release of their self-titled debut album in 1978 and eventually to the creation of the Blues Brothers motion picture in 1980.  In the film, parolee Jake Blues is joined by his blood brother Elwood Blues on a “mission from God” to save the Catholic orphanage in which they were raised by reuniting their band and raising the $5000.00 for the property tax bill.  Their quest brings them to a number of characters played by iconic artists including Cab Calloway and James Brown.  The resulting soundtrack stands as a testament to the enduring power of blues music and left an indelible mark on both the film and music industry.John Lynch dons his suit and dark sunglasses to bring us this feature. Minnie the MoocherCab Calloway originally presented Minnie the Moocher back in 1931, and reprises the song for this film.  Calloway was a regular performer at the Cotton Club in Harlem, and a popular vocalist of the swing era.  Calloway plays Curtis in the film, a father figure and mentor to the Blues Brothers, and performs this song as a warm-up to the concert.Jailhouse RockAs the movie ends with Jake and Elwood back in prison after successfully paying off the tax bill for the orphanage.  The band plays Elvis Presley's "Jailhouse Rock" for the inmates as the credits roll.  Jake Blues (Belushi) takes lead on this upbeat number.ThinkAretha Franklin covers her own song as Mrs. Murphy, trying to persuade her husband Matt Murphy to not join the band.  Franklin had a lot of difficulty lip synching the song and would have preferred to just sing it live.  The Blues Brothers join her on this cover.Gimme Some Lovin'The Blues Brothers cover this piece originally performed by the Spencer Davis Group and made famous by Steve Winwood.  While the song was a top 20 hit on the Billboard Hot 100, in the film it gets a decidedly cooler reception in the honky tonk bar in which it is performed.  ENTERTAINMENT TRACK:Lookin' for Love by Johnny Lee (from the motion picture “Urban Cowboy”)With the decline of disco, crossover country & western hits became popular.  John Travolta starred in this movie which capitalized on the popularity of country music. STAFF PICKS:Train in Vain (Stand By Me) by the ClashBruce brings us the third single from the Clash's third album, “London Calling.”  This was a double album, and a post-punk turn by the group.  The song was originally intended to be a giveaway flexi single, but was put on the album at the last minute when that deal fell through.  Mick Jones wrote and sings lead on this song, inspired by his tumultuous relationship with Stiltz guitarist Viv Albertine.Free Me Big by Roger DaltreyWayne features the front man for the Who in a solo effort written by Argent guitarist Russ Ballard.  The song is on Daltrey's 1980 solo album “McVicar” It also appears on the soundtrack for the movie "McVicar" in which Daltrey plays John McVicar, an inmate in prison for a number of bank robberies.  The other members of the Who play on this song as uncredited musicians. We Live for Love by Pat BenatarRob's staff pick is performed by Benatar, but it is often confused for a Blondie song.  It is a single from Benatar's debut album, “In the Heat of the Night,” and was written by Neil Giraldo, Benatar's then-guitarist and now-husband (and still guitarist).  It was the leading track from side two.Ride Like the Wind by Christopher CrossLynch's staff pick went to number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, held out of the number 1 slot by Blondie's “Call Me.”  It is Cross's debut single from his Grammy winning 1979 self-titled album.  Cross dedicated the song to Lowell George, formerly of the band Little Feat, who had died in 1979.  Michael McDonald is easy to identify on backing vocals.   NOVELTY TRACK:Turning Japanese by the VaporsSongwriter and Vapors lead singer David Fenton says this is all the cliches about angst and youth and turning into something you didn't expect to.  This new wave song went to number 36 on the Billboard Hot 100.

While living in Scottsdale, Arizona, the Keelses founded the Living Hope Cancer Foundation to help coach cancer through their treatment experiences. They knew of which they spoke, with Hannah Keels actively battling metastatic breast cancer and Chuck having experienced a bout with prostate cancer before, he says, Jesus physically touched him. So, it's only fitting that the two guys that are the biggest supporters of the podcast should be the first episode in our second year of podcasting. On this episode of Ride Like a Mother we invited our husbands to step up to the mic and add their voice to the conversation, specifically about farm equipment. Brad is an auctioneer at Grunthal Auction Service where him and his team auction everything from teacups to tractors. Brad is pretty well versed in the ins and outs of used equipment. Channce has been a mechanic for 11 years. Currently he works for Kubota and Versatile. This guy knows a thing or two about keeping your equipment in shape. The Power & The Glory - Video Anthology. Pagina Oficial: https://www.saxon747.com/

Welcome to Episode 11 of the Steed Cycles Podcast! In this episode we're joined by Joele Guynup of Santa Cruz/Juliana bicycles. Joele is our rep for Santa Cruz, Juliana and Cervelo, and is quite often the reason we're able to keep Santa Cruz and Cervelo riders riding their bikes when they have a problem - she's a miracle worker sometimes. Having been riding and racing bikes for around 20 years now and been in and around the industry for much of that, Joele is a true professional, and she is also just one of the raddest humans we know.Tune in to the podcast to find out how Joele made the leap from cyclist, to racer, to industry pro. Much like the rest of us, Joele simply loves bikes, and loves working in the industry. Not only is Joele an industry pro, she gives a whole heap of her time to awesome causes like Ride Like a Girl and numerous other cycling events - it's inspiring to see and we're grateful for all that she does. We hope you enjoy listening to Joele as much as we enjoyed chatting with her!
