What if you could trigger those ideas on demand? Bill says you can - in less than 60 seconds. It's all due to the specific roles of the hemispheres of the brain. Many of us know the idea of left brain/right brain - that the separate hemispheres of the brain are responsible for different types of thought. The left brain for analytical and logical thinking, the right brain for creativity and problem solving. Bill has been interested in accessing the right brain for problem solving for years, and now does seminars for Fortune 500 companies to teach CEOs and managers how to use this elusive part of the brain for high-level problem solving and strategy creation. However, he thinks that everyone can benefit from introducing right brain use into their lives. We discuss just how to do this, plus:   why introducing the creative brain to your to-do list can make you more productive how to use the right brain to get into flow how to ask yourself the right questions - and why it's important how relaxation and stress relief plays into creativity   For complete shownotes and more, please head over to www.optimizedgeek.com/billdonius LINKS & RESOURCES MENTIONED Williamdonius.com William Donius LinkedIn Will Donius TEDx talk Thought Revolution The Next Level Experience Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain Recovery of Your Inner Child Cultured Code Getting Things Done Change Your Questions, Change Your Life The Sketchnote Handbook The Sketchnote Workbook Of Two Minds Idea Stormers       GET OPTIMIZED! Most people agree that for businesses to compete globally in the 21st century, we must be innovative. We must be creative. Yet, most of today’s workers continue to be trapped by left brain thinking, or logical thinking, that fails to get the results they want. Our guest is thought leader, strategist and author Bill Donius. Bill’s first book, Thought Revolution: How to Unlock Your Inner Genius, debuted last year by making all the major best-seller lists, including the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Publisher’s Weekly and Nielsen. Bill has an extensive social media network, writes for the Huffington Post and is also working on a second book. Thought Revolution begins where other books in the field end, offering a proven, easy method for finding your creativity by tapping into your right brain. Still not convinced that you work in an industry where right brain thinking could make a difference? The former CEO and chair of a midwestern bank, Bill was able to engage his creative mind and expand the bank into new geographic markets after devising and implenting this process. And in 2008, he was appointed to a two-year term on the Banker Council that advised the Federal Reserve Board and Ben Bernanke in the midst of the financial crisis. Bill is here today to talk about how following his process can disrupt complacency and conventional thinking in the business world. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Author and St. Louis native Bill Donius tells us about a method that can help you get those occasional "Aha moments" to happen much more frequently…a method that's as easy as switching your pen from one hand to the other. He says it's all about learning how to use your whole brain, including your right brain – the side of your brain that's often ignored as left brain logic takes over answering most of our daily questions. Donius says using your whole brain can change your perspectives, actions, habits and moods in revolutionary ways. It was successful for hundreds of volunteers who tried it out before he wrote his book, Thought Revolution: How to Unlock Your Inner Genius; volunteers that included executives from Express Scripts, Enterprise Rent-a-Car and Clear Channel Broadcasting. Business leaders are now taking his findings into the workplace to try to unlock innovative ideas from the right hemisphere of employees' minds.
