You may think your intake team converts 98% of your qualified cases—but when you audit every lead, there's a good chance that number doesn't reflect reality. Yani Smith, the CEO and Founder of Legal Intake Pros, a nationwide fractional intake operations company, explains why the numbers so often fall apart once she puts them under a microscope. Through intake audits, CRM implementation, coaching, quality control, and business intelligence, Yani Smith's team helps firms improve conversion rates and routinely delivers 50% growth in signed cases within six to eight months—with many clients exceeding 100% growth after a year. In this episode, she unpacks what really happens inside a professional intake audit. She discusses why speed-to-value has overtaken speed-to-lead, how firms should benchmark intake performance, why coaching matters more than hiring natural closers, and how the best-performing firms build systems that consistently turn marketing dollars into signed cases. You'll learn: Why PI Intake audits often reveal lower conversion rates than firms report. How speed-to-value improves signed case conversion more than speed-to-lead alone. What realistic intake conversion benchmarks look like for high-performing firms. How to structure intake teams as lead volume scales. Why coaching, quality control, and CRM strategy outperform guesswork in intake operations. How much cash is hiding in your business? See if you qualify for a Free Financial Health Check Financial Intelligence Toolkit Most business owners set their prices based on what competitors charge, what feels right, or what they think customers will pay. None of those approaches have anything to do with the value your business actually delivers or what your business needs to be financially healthy. In this episode Steve breaks down how pricing actually works, the three most common pricing mistakes he sees, and why getting it right changes everything downstream from margin to cash flow to how fast your business can grow.If you have ever discounted work just to win it, this one is going to sting a little._______________________________________Disclaimer:The views expressed here are those of the individual Coltivar Group, LLC (“Coltivar”) personnel quoted and are not the views of Coltivar or its affiliates. Ads gehen immer in Vorleistung. You could be saying all the right things on every discovery call. And you're still losing the client.Because the problem isn't the call. The problem is what's happening before the call. Today's episode of the Punk CX podcast features a recent conversation I had with Gregg Johnson, CEO of Invoca, a leading revenue execution platform. Gregg and I recorded this podcast while we were both at Adobe Summit in Las Vegas recently. We talk about why the buying experience is broken at the exact moment customers need help most, why trust is the competitive moat, whether we will see more and more brands develop their own specific SLMs, what brands should be doing to build up trust with customers and their recent research which finds that while 86% of marketers believe AI improves the buying experience, only 35% of consumers agree and which brands are getting it right. This interview follows on from my recent interview – Why you don't need a separate AI strategy – Interview with Charlene Li – and is number 586 in the series of interviews with authors and business leaders who are doing great things, providing valuable insights, helping businesses innovate and delivering great service and experience to both their customers and their employees.

Most PTs think business intelligence is just tracking revenue. But that's not the case.Real business intelligence answers two questions: What's actually creating my results? And how do I use that to scale without adding hours? In this episode, I break down the two levels of business intelligence every PT business needs:Level 1: The Foundation The core metrics you must track to stop guessing what's working: people spoken to, leads generated, front-end offers sold, conversion rates, and client retention.Level 2: Intelligent Systems Once you know what's working, how to automate, systemise, and scale your best work without adding more hours or effort. This is where "high-profit, low-stress" becomes real.If you're new and building clients, start with Level 1. If you have traction, use Level 2 to spread your impact further.By the end, you'll know exactly where to focus first and why most PTs skip this step entirely. If you want to get started with using a system that helps tracking the 'Level 1' Business Intelligence data, head to the link below and download my Paid Pipeline Masterclass.

If you're setting revenue goals and still not hitting them, this episode is going to hit home. In this episode of The Real Truth About Business podcast, I'm breaking down one of the most overlooked pieces of business strategy that directly impacts your revenue growth: your conversion rate. This is for service-based entrepreneurs who are doing the marketing, showing up consistently, and still feeling stuck at a revenue plateau. After 9 years of experience, I can tell you this is rarely a marketing problem. It's a data problem. Specifically, not knowing your numbers. Inside this episode, I walk you through how to calculate your conversion rate, how it impacts your lead generation and sales process, and how to actually use it to plan like a CEO instead of guessing. This is where strategic planning meets real data so you can finally create a business that makes sense on paper and in practice. What You'll Learn:How to calculate your conversion rate across different stages of your sales processWhy your revenue plateau might actually be a math problem, not a marketing problemHow to reverse engineer your business strategy using real conversion dataThe difference between pipeline conversion rates and sales conversion ratesWhy lead source, offer type, and client readiness impact your conversion rateHow to use conversion rate to set realistic revenue growth goalsEpisode Highlights:[00:00] Introduction: Why conversion rate is the most overlooked number in your business[02:20] The truth about “big launches” and misleading conversion comparisons[04:40] Breaking down a real example: 30% conversion rate and hitting client goals[07:00] Understanding your pipeline and how many leads you actually need[11:45] How to calculate conversion rate and why it varies by offer and source[18:50] How to review your data and plan your next quarter like a CEO[25:50] Using conversion rate to shift from reactive operator to strategic CEOKey Takeaways:It's Not a Marketing Problem. It's a Math Problem. Here's what I see constantly. Business owners doing all the lead generation activities and still stuck. After 9 years of working with service-based entrepreneurs, the issue is rarely visibility. It's that there's no connection between your numbers and your goals. Your conversion rate tells you exactly what's happening inside your business. It shows you whether your pipeline can actually support your revenue targets or if you're setting yourself up to hit a wall. When you understand your conversion rate, you stop guessing. You stop relying on what worked for someone else. You start making decisions based on data. That's real business strategy.Your Pipeline, Pricing, and Sales Are All ConnectedInside the Focused Visionary Framework, we look at three core pillars: Pricing, Pipeline, and Sales. Conversion rate sits right in the middle of Pipeline and Sales. It tells you how effectively you're moving people from awareness to decision. If your conversion rate from call to client is 30%, and you want six clients, you need 20 calls. That's not subjective. That's math. Then the next question becomes: how many leads do you need to generate those 20 calls? That's where your pipeline comes in.When you start working backward like this, your business growth becomes predictable. You can see exactly where the gap is. More leads, better nurturing, or stronger sales conversations. Not All Conversion Rates Are Created EqualThis is where most people get it wrong. They assume they have one universal conversion rate. That's not how it works. Your conversion rate changes based on your offer, your lead source, and where someone is in your pipeline.A referral is going to convert higher than a cold lead. A one-to-one sales call will convert differently than a webinar. Warm leads in the consideration phase behave differently than people who just became aware of you. When you lump everything together, you lose clarity. When you separate it, you gain control. And that's how you start making strategic decisions that actually move the needle.CEO-Level Planning Starts with DataIf you want to get out of operator mode, this is the shift. You have to look at your business through facts, not feelings. Your conversion rate gives you the ability to set realistic goals, adjust your strategy, and decide where to focus your time.Sometimes the answer is better nurturing. Sometimes it's building your pipeline. Sometimes it's refining your sales process. But you won't know which one unless you're tracking the data. This is how you create sustainable revenue growth. Not by doing more. By doing what actually works.Resources MentionedBook a CEO Strategy Call Learn more about The Missing Piece IntensiveLearn more about The Focused Visionary AcceleratorJoin Back Pocket InsightsDownload the FREE Lead and Conversion TrackerSubscribe to the Sunday Morning Brew NewsletterAbout the Host:Michelle DeNio is a business strategist based in Sarasota, Florida, specializing in helping service-based entrepreneurs break through revenue plateaus using her Focused Visionary Framework. #497 - Brand Metrics Reveals Your Amazon PPC Problems

AM/PM Podcast

Play Episode Listen Later Feb 19, 2026 33:43

Are your Amazon ads “broken” or is it something else? In this episode, we share a simple audit that reveals what's really killing performance and the first fix that usually changes everything. Most sellers assume Amazon PPC is the problem when the real bottleneck is often the offer. In this episode, Carrie Miller and Destaney Wishon walk through a quick, repeatable way to diagnose what's actually holding growth back: bids, campaign structure, or your product detail page. The goal isn't “optimize everything.” It's to identify the one thing that's breaking performance and fix that first.   Destaney starts with Amazon Advertising's Brand Metrics Dashboard to compare your conversion rate and traffic vs your category. If your conversion rate is below the category median, PPC can drive clicks all day and still struggle—because you're paying for traffic your listing can't convert. She explains how category selection matters (sometimes you need to go broader to get better benchmarks) and why seasonality and market share shifts can fool you if you only look at your own numbers.   From there, the audit shifts into Amazon PPC fundamentals: avoid messy structures like mixed match types without a harvesting system, duplicative campaigns, and multiple ad groups that wreck budget control. The recommended approach is to use one campaign, one ad group, organized by strategy (traffic/rank vs. efficiency/profit). Then bid optimization becomes simpler: focus on the highest-spend targets first, make changes using the right attribution window (not hour-by-hour panic), and allocate budget intelligently—Sponsored Products as the core spend, with Sponsored Brands kept within a reasonable performance range. Stop guessing and start auditing. Hit play, run the same checklist on your account, and you'll know exactly what to fix first so your next Amazon PPC change actually moves the needle.   In episode 497 of the AM/PM Podcast, Carrie and Destaney discuss: 00:00  – Introduction 01:00 – Are Your Amazon Ads Broken (Or Is It The Wrong Fix?) 02:21 – Start Here: Amazon Advertising Brand Metrics Dashboard 03:00 – PPC Only Works If Your Listing Converts 04:04 – Conversion Rate vs Category Median 05:22 – Traffic Opportunity: Detail Page Views vs Category 08:36 – Category Median vs Category Top 10:37 – Red Flag: Mixed Match Types Without Keyword Harvesting 13:28 – Structure Fix: One Campaign, One Ad Group  14:52 – Bid Optimization: The 80/20 Method 25:22 – How Often To Adjust Your Amazon PPC  28:17 – Budget Split: Sponsored Products vs Sponsored Brands 32:01 – Branded vs Non-Branded Budget
