The #21 Cigar of the Year for 2024 is the Black Works Studio S&R (2023) Corona Larga from Oveja Negra Brands. S&R made its debut in 2018 as a limited edition small batch line under the Black Works Studio brand. At the time, it was a significant release for owner and blender James Brown because it marked his first release with a Sumatra wrapper and his first release with Dominican tobacco. There were additional small batch releases in 2019 and 2020 of S&R. Last year, James Brown decided to revamp the blend with the big change being incorporating a barber-pole wrapper. While Oveja Negra Brands would highlight several new releases at the 2024 Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show, a lot more was showcased at this booth. All of the brands at the booth are distributed by Oveja Negra Brands and produced at Fabrica Oveja Negra. This includes the brands co-owned by James Brown (Black Label Trading Co, Black Work Studio), Emilio). It also includes Dissident, the brand owned by Cynn and Joshua Coburn. The work being done is high quality, and it's no wonder Oveja Negra Brands has racked up many Cigar Coop Coalition awards over the years. This year we caught up with James Brown to discuss the Paper Crane and Orthodox releases. Both of these releases capture the essence of the Black Works Studio and Black Label Trading Company brands perfectly. PCA 2024 Report: https://wp.me/p6h1n1-sAP

The boys are back this week and go over March plans. This led to a discussion about all the things that went on in a March in a comedic tone only Caleb can manage. We even discussed the upcoming March Madness tournament's effect on the work force. Then we got to talking about how Miami officially “broke up” with spring break due to tons of issues with spring breakers. Lastly we briefly touched on Super Tuesday results and the upcoming general election. This all went down while we smoke the just released Los Statos Deluxe 2024. Patrol Gone Wild is back this week with a Penn State Professor caught doing several lewd acts, a wanted man captured in a 711 bathroom, and the wrong way to take a breathalyzer test. Caleb's got news again this week with a new Black Works Studio release announcement, ST DuPont announces a new collaboration, and New York Distilling debuts a new expression. The #4 2023 Cigar of the Year is the Black Label Trading Co Deliverance Porcelain Robusto. Black Label Trading Company and its sister brand Black Works Studio are two brands created by James Brown of Oveja Negra Cigars. James Brown has been known for his dark and full-bodied maduro offerings. In 2018 that would change as Brown would introduce a pair of Connecticut Shade offerings: Black Works Studio Killer Bee Connecticut and Black Label Trading Co Deliverance Porcelain. Both cigars would be hits and would both make their way into becoming regular production offerings: Porcelain would join the regular production lineup of Black Label Trading Co in 2019, and Killer Bee Connecticut would become regular production in 2022. Porcelain was originally released in a Corona Gorda size, but a Robusto was added in 2021 and it's the cigar that lands at #4. Full Details: https://wp.me/p6h1n1-rhs

Cigar Journal winner of the Best Boutique Brand Nicaragua 2023: Black Label Trading Company Royalty! Since it won this major award, the small-batch limited release cigar company has been in even higher demand—and shorter supply. Just to establish the hierarchy of this Nicaraguan cigar maker: Oveja Negra (AKA black sheep) cigar brand family begets Black Works Studio and All Black Label Trading Company. The company was co-founded by the husband-and-wife team, James and Angela Brown. Boveda's Drew Emmer—who loves the BWS Killer Bee cigar, BTW—sat down with James to discuss why these boutique cigars are for smokers who are still looking for their favorite stick. What is Boveda? Cigar makers age and preserve the flavor and character of their hand-rolled cigars with Boveda, that brown 2-way humidity pack that you find in a cigar box. At home, continue to use Boveda in your humidor to keep cigars well-humidified or they can be hard to light, burn to too fast or get moldy. With Boveda in your humidor, you'll enjoy full flavor from every cigar. Boveda has been keeping cigars tasting great for more than 25 years. Age and store premium cigars with Boveda in your humidor. Oveja Negra Brands is an umbrella for four brands: Black Label Trading Company, Black Works Studio, Emilio Cigars, and Dissident Cigars. James and Angela Brown own three of the brands while the fourth brand, Dissident, is owned by Joshua and Cynn Coburn. As it has since 2019, the Oveja Negra Brands booth had four corners - each dedicated to one of the brands. This year, Oveja Negra Brands had more of a focus on the Emilio brand as it had two new offerings. There were also new offerings under Black Works Studio and Dissident. Meanwhile, a couple of favorites return to Black Label Trading Company. PCA 2022 Report: https://wp.me/p6h1n1-nfI

Jiunn, Seth, John and Aaron discuss their review experience with the Black Works Studio Intergalactic Corona Larga https://developingpalates.com/reviews/cigar-reviews/team-cigar-review-black-works-studio-intergalactic-corona-larga/
Black Works Studio has been putting out some stellar releases, so when they announced the Intergalactic, I was thrilled. This cigar is a bit different from the normal powerhouses that Black Works Studio releases. The Intergalactic is a complex cigar with more layers of flavors than their previous releases. “Intergalactic is a unique cigar for Black Works Studio. I would consider it in a more traditional wheelhouse in terms of its overall profile with a definite Oveja Negra twist. The blend starts with bold spice followed by herbal and cedar notes. The finish is a balance of different layers. The spice and earthy notes of the Nicaragua filler tobaccos are gently brought together with the creamy, subtle sweetness of the dark Sumatra wrapper. This cigar is both bold and subtle all at the same time.” says James Brown, creator of BLTC and partner at Fabrica Oveja Negra. I called up Jay Davis at Blue Smoke in Dallas, TX, and ordered a five-pack in both sizes: robusto and corona gorda. Both sizes retail for $10.50. Let's look at the blend: Wrapper: Dark Sumatra Binder: Ecuador Habano Filler: Nicaraguan Vitola: Robusto Size: 5.5×50 (20 count) MSRP: $10.50 Factory: Fabrica Oveja Negra Final Score: 92

Black Works Studio Hyena Cigar Review by Two Regular Southern Boys
Adding Candela leaf tobacco to any cigar is always a bold choice. But, that's what Black Works Studio did in today's cigar, the Green Hornet. The Black Works Studio Killer Bee Green Hornet Robusto is just slightly smaller than your traditional robusto. Both its smoking end and its foot have candela tobacco in them, and the green leaf acts as a visual nod to the vitola (size) of the cigar, the Green Hornet. After punching the end and toasting the foot, the draw was very easy, and I was greeted with hints of the grassy-sour candela tobacco. In addition to the candela flavors, I can taste the distinctive tastes of heavily roasted tobacco that is common in cigars from both Black Works Studio and Black Label Trading Co (they're the same company).CigarScore Merch!: https://click.cigarscore.com/merchytUse coupon code CIGARSCORETV to get 15% OFF!Brand: Black Works StudioLine: Green HornetSize: 5 x 48Cut: V-CutLight: TorchPrice: $9Wrapper: Ecuadorian Maduro and Ecuadorian Candela (Double Claro)Binder: Nicaraguan HabanoFiller: NicaraguaSmoke Time: 62 minutesBuy This Cigar: https://click.cigarscore.com/fs-blackworks-killerbeeFinal Thoughts:While I didn't especially like the flavors of the Black Works Studio Killer Bee Green Hornet Robusto, I must admit that the construction quality of this cigar is very high. I didn't experience a single burn issue, and the draw was perfect from the very beginning. The Green Hornet is a very well made cigar. However, I didn't really care for the flavors. As I mentioned before, all Black Works/Black Label cigars tend to have a charred or burned taste to the tobacco. Like Starbucks tends to burn their coffee beans, these two brands tend to burn their tobacco during the fermentation process. The actual process might be different, but the flavors of the end result are the same. Additionally, the candela tobacco's odd flavors complicate the mix.At the end of the day, the Killer Bee Green Hornet is a well-made cigar with flavors that might be right up your alley. A CigarScore 4 for sure.#CigarScoreTV:::::Find & Rate Where to Smoke Cigars at https://www.cigarscore.comCIGAR DEALS::::::Cigar 5-Packs: https://jo.my/mlunpiCigar 10-Packs: https://jo.my/8kfajfCigar Samplers: https://jo.my/oady8qBoveda Packs: https://jo.my/fbtwzr:::::Get CigarScore Emails - https://www.cigarscore.com/subscribe::::: SOCIAL MEDIA LINKS: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/cigarscoreTwitter: https://www.twitter.com/cigarscoreInstagram: https://Instagram.com/cigarscoreMy Music: https://www.ellorywells.com/soundstripe::::: AFFILIATE DISCLAIMER: Hey, so, some of the links in my videos and descriptions are affiliate links. Black Works Studio Boondock Saint Cigar Review by Two Regular Southern Boys
Oveja Negra Brands is a company who makes both the Black Works Studio cigars and the Black Label Trading Co cigars. And today, I'm reviewing the Black Works Studio Killer Bee Maduro.I picked up the Killer Bee because it looks cool! This cigar has what looks like 5 caps, each a different leaf color (and probably type) to give the cigar a layered look like the body of a bee. The dark, Ecuadorian Maduro wrapper appears oily and delicious. After punching through all of the caps, the draw was perfect, and after torching the closed foot, I could immediately tell that the flavors were going to be very bold, like overroasted coffee.CigarScore Merch!: https://click.cigarscore.com/merchytUse coupon code CIGARSCORETV to get 15% OFF!Brand: Black Works StudioLine: Killer BeeSize: 4 1/2 x 46Cut: PunchLight: Torch MatchesPrice: $7.50Wrapper: Ecuadorian MaduroBinder: NicaraguaFiller: NicaraguaSmoke Time: 65 minutesBuy This Cigar: https://click.cigarscore.com/fs-blackworks-killerbeeFinal Thoughts:I was very impressed with the Black Works Studio Killer Bee Maduro. The flavors were good, the construction of the cigar was almost perfect, the draw was also great. However, for almost $8 per stick, I think this boutique stick is a little on the expensive side.Overall, I wish the Killer Bee had more complexity, more sweetness, and a slightly lower price point. For these reasons, the Black Works Studio Killer Bee Maduro earns a CigarScore 4.#CigarScoreTV:::::Find & Rate Where to Smoke Cigars at https://www.cigarscore.comCIGAR DEALS::::::Cigar 5-Packs: https://jo.my/mlunpiCigar 10-Packs: https://jo.my/8kfajfCigar Samplers: https://jo.my/oady8qBoveda Packs: https://jo.my/fbtwzr:::::Get CigarScore Emails - https://www.cigarscore.com/subscribe::::: SOCIAL MEDIA LINKS: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/cigarscoreTwitter: https://www.twitter.com/cigarscoreInstagram: https://Instagram.com/cigarscoreMy Music: https://www.ellorywells.com/soundstripe::::: AFFILIATE DISCLAIMER: Hey, so, some of the links in my videos and descriptions are affiliate links.
